CFRFGC Chapter 105

Boyfriend

⌈”Just like I, as your boyfriend, don’t care whether you can do it or not.”⌋

Lu Ran was finally satisfied.

He raised his chin and said, “Then I’m going to be your boyfriend!”

The boy boldly declared the shift in their relationship, catching Ji Min, who was ten years older and often considered himself the elder, completely off guard.

Ji Min coughed lightly.

He felt as if his heart had suddenly floated up. All the tiring, heavy matters seemed to quietly fade away.

It felt as light as a dream, so unbelievable that it almost seemed too good to be true.

Ji Min instinctively wanted to say many things.

He wanted to tell the boy to think more seriously about it, to explain that even though they kissed… if he didn’t feel the same, there was no need to take it seriously.

But all those thoughts spun around in his mind, turning over and over.

What came out of his mouth was simply a confirming sound: “Mm.”

The boy across from him instantly broke into a smile.

His eyes curved like crescent moons.

After smiling, he straightened up and said seriously, “I’m serious.”

He then bent down to rummage through the folder beside him, saying earnestly, “I’ve prepared a lot of things!”

He pulled out the documents and placed them on the desk, just as formally as he had pushed over his resignation letter earlier.

Ji Min took the papers. To his surprise, it was a health check-up form, raising an eyebrow in surprise.

Seeing his reaction, the boy across from him furrowed his brows and explained, “This is my first time in a relationship and I don’t know what I should do.”

Ji Min looked up at him.

The boy sincerely said, “But Dean Lu said that being in a relationship is a serious matter and we have to take it seriously.”

A hint of embarrassment flashed across his face as he lowered his head and scratched his cheek before continuing, “So, I went online to ask what I should pay attention to in a relationship, and they said you have to prove you’re in good health.”

Ji Min couldn’t help but laugh.

He asked, “Didn’t you just have a check-up a few days ago?”

Lu Ran’s ears flushed suddenly, and he mumbled, “The items checked were different.”

Ji Min looked down at the report.

It was a marriage check-up form, along with screenings for sexually transmitted diseases.

This kid must have mistaken an online hookup guide for a relationship guide.

Ji Min gently rubbed his forehead, suppressing the smile that was threatening to rise.

“Didn’t you hate hospitals? And you still went?” he asked.

“I went to a health check-up center!”

With that response, Lu Ran seemed a little displeased. “Don’t change the subject. I forgot what I was going to say!”

“Mm, okay.”

Ji Min quickly straightened up, mimicking the boy’s serious posture.

Though there was still laughter in his eyes.

Lu Ran furrowed his brows, deep in thought for a long time.

In the end, he pulled out his phone’s memo app, took a look, and then continued,

“Right, online they said you have to tell the other person about your situation in detail.”

That was probably from an arranged marriage guide, Ji Min thought.

He quietly watched as the boy across from him earnestly said, “You must already know about my family situation. It’s a mess… but don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”

“Mm… I’m 19 this year, and currently studying veterinary science at Y University. I’m only in my first year, but I’ll definitely graduate.”

“My income situation…”

At this, Lu Ran pressed his lips together. “I don’t have a stable income right now, but I can work part-time. After graduation, I plan to stay at the university’s lab…”

He sneaked a glance at the man across from him, thought for a moment, and then honestly said, “I know you’re really wealthy. I probably can’t earn as much as you.”

But Lu Ran wasn’t discouraged.

He said excitedly, “But that’s okay! Your salary can be saved. I’ll use the money I earn for daily expenses. If something major happens, I’ll use your money.”

“I can also do housework…”

“By the way, I’ll also have a family member with me—Da Huang, the dog you like.”

The boy said a lot, a lot.

Even the question of who would wash the socks in the future had been thought out.

In his eyes, there wasn’t just seriousness; there was also an abundance of warm hopes and plans for the future.

Ji Min sat across from him, smiling faintly as he watched him.

The amusement that had been in his eyes gradually faded. He watched Lu Ran, who was earnestly trying to map out their future life together.

It was like watching the only shining, flickering flame in a cold and barren life.

The more serious and earnest the boy became, even stubbornly naive in some ways, the more rare and precious he seemed.

“Mm… I think that’s about it, right?”

Lu Ran finally finished.

He leaned forward slightly, focusing on the man across from him, and asked, “Is there anything else you want to ask?”

Ji Min froze for a moment.

He snapped back to reality and made a quick call to his assistant.

The assistant quickly sent over a document.

Ji Min printed it out, and as the boy had done, he earnestly pushed it across the desk: “This is my health check-up form, but it’s from last month. If you mind, I can give you the latest one tomorrow.”

After doing this, Ji Min sat upright, facing the boy, and said: “You know about my family situation too, it’s a mess, but don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”

The exact same phrasing and structure of words made Lu Ran unable to stop himself from grinning.

“Don’t change the subject…” Ji Min lightly coughed before continuing.

“29 years old, no bad habits, currently serving as the chairman and CEO of Ji Corporation…”

Ji Min mimicked Lu Ran, seriously and childishly introducing his own situation.

For Ji Min, this was indeed a completely new experience that he had never considered before.

At first, when he listened to Lu Ran speaking, he wanted to laugh.

But once he started speaking for himself, he realized that when laying out everything about himself, one couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.

You would carefully watch the other person’s expression, afraid that something might make them unhappy.

When it came to the distribution of funds, Ji Min had a different opinion: “You’re still in school. I don’t want you to work part-time.”

“But…” Lu Ran instinctively wanted to speak.

Ji Min looked at him seriously and said: “What if it affects your studies? How will you earn money to support living expenses in the future?”

“Didn’t you just call me your boyfriend? Am I not qualified to support you through school?”

The man’s tone was weak, successfully luring Lu Ran into his argument.

“Uh… I didn’t mean you’re not qualified…”

“Good, then it’s decided.”

Ji Min said, “While you’re still in school, I’ll take care of the household expenses for now.”

After both of them had finished speaking, the study fell silent.

Only the last beautiful rays of the setting sun streamed through the window, casting a diagonal light into the room.

The light turned the white pages of the dark-colored desk into a rose-red hue.

“Boss…” Lu Ran instinctively called out.

After he spoke, he received only a brief glance from the man across from him.

Lu Ran paused, then, with a grin, said, “Boyfriend.”

“Mm.” Ji Min responded.

He wheeled his chair out from behind the desk and moved over to Lu Ran’s side.

Suddenly, he extended his hand and gently touched the boy’s ear, which was nearly transparent in the sunlight.

The movement was light, as though he were touching a fragile dream that might shatter with the slightest touch.

Lu Ran turned his head to look at him.

He gently brushed against the man’s warm fingers.

“Boss, I really like you.” He said.

“It should be boyfriend…” The man whispered, correcting him.

The rest of the words blurred into the joining of their lips.

This time, unlike the impulsive desire in the hospital, Ji Min kissed very lightly, very gently.

But it was full of reverence.

He gently embraced Lu Ran, holding onto the warm, yet small and simple future the boy had described.

Ji Min kissed with complete seriousness.

Halfway through the kiss, the boy, who had been completely absorbed in the moment, suddenly remembered something and quickly lifted his head.

“Right!”

Ji Min, whose chin had nearly been knocked, froze.

“Right about what?”

He spoke in a hushed voice, a hint of displeasure and helplessness at being suddenly interrupted.

“I haven’t finished explaining yet!”

Lu Ran straightened up, looking serious again.

“Because our relationship before was unconventional—you’re my boss and I was your ex-boyfriend.”

The man leaned back against the chair.

His pale lips, tinged with a slight red from the kiss, played with the boy’s fingers as he asked: “So…”

“So you don’t need to worry!”

Lu Ran said, “Although I’ve resigned, as your boyfriend, I have an unshirkable responsibility to clear up any rumors for you!”

Ji Min: “…”

Thinking about the source of this “job description”, Ji Min fell silent.

He cleared his throat, wanting to explain, “No, but…”

However, Lu Ran interrupted him, frowning at him, and letting out a disapproving sigh.

Ji Min was jolted by the sigh.

Lu Ran looked at him.

A nineteen-year-old boy, yet with a tone of wise advice, said, “You were my boss before and I never said anything.”

“But now, I feel like I should still advise you.”

“Advise me about what?” Ji Min raised an eyebrow.

The boy’s gaze swept across his throat, and chest, and then stopped at his belt buckle.

Finally, it moved down a few inches.

Then, Lu Ran withdrew his gaze and sighed, saying, “Boyfriend, one shouldn’t be too vain.”

Ji Min: “?”

Afraid of hurting his pride, Lu Ran rubbed his knuckles against his lips before continuing: “Well… one must face reality and accept it. Only then can they truly improve.”

“Besides, those are trivial matters. There’s no need to pay too much attention to them.”

Ji Min: “…”

Got it.

He quietly reached over, picked up the health check-up form from the desk, and looked it over.

If he wasn’t mistaken, this form clearly stated some details about his condition.

“Just like I, as your boyfriend, I really don’t care if you can do it or not,” Lu Ran said seriously.

Ji Min: “…”

Great, confirmed.

This guy didn’t even bother to look.

“Don’t care?” Ji Min asked softly.

“Yep.”

Lu Ran nodded vigorously.

But when the topic came up, the boy, barely an adult, still secretly blushed.

However, considering that the person across from him was his boyfriend, he still spoke honestly: “I just wait a little bit every morning, then it’s fine. Worst case, I take a shower, and it’s all good!”

Ji Min tossed the health check-up form aside and squinted his eyes slightly.

“Oh, is that so?” he said softly.

“Mm-hmm.”

To add credibility, the boy nodded twice.

He realized his boyfriend’s gaze had turned a bit dangerous.

After thinking for a moment, Lu Ran decided that just because he had no concerns didn’t mean the other person didn’t.

So he added, “Well… should I try harder? I can still grow taller and definitely can satisfy you.”

Ji Min stared at him for a while.

He smiled faintly, his lips curling up: “Alright, boyfriend.”
