WTDWPK Chapter 14

Seizing the Chance to Clear His Name

As soon as Ye Tiansi finished speaking, he noticed the man and the cat opposite him simultaneously lift their gazes to look at him. The synchronized movement was so uncanny that it left him baffled. Did he say something wrong? Wasn’t Fu Yuqian supposed to be Song Yu’s nemesis? With Song Yu out of the picture, even if Fu Yuqian didn’t show it outwardly, he should be pleased inside, right? Surely, this was the perfect compliment.

Well, nothing was wrong—except that Song Yu, after glancing at Ye Tiansi, lost all interest. So young, yet already stirring up trouble. If you’ve got the time to gossip, why not invest it in honing your singing skills?

Song Yu had heard of Ye Tiansi before—a cutesy “little puppy” type whose public persona bore some resemblance to his own. They were even in the same company. When Ye debuted, the company had tried marketing him as the “Little Song Yu.” But that title was quickly quashed by Song Yu’s massive fanbase. Little Song Yu? Seriously? This guy only changed his legal age and is actually just eight months younger than my Song Yu. Little Song Yu, my foot! Why not call him “Daddy Song Yu” instead?

So it was only natural that Ye Tiansi bore some jealousy toward Song Yu and tried to badmouth him in front of Fu Yuqian.

This recording studio was of a high standard, and with Ye Tiansi’s level of fame, his presence here had to be the company’s doing. Was the company planning to promote Ye now that Song Yu showed no signs of waking up?

Suspicious, Song Yu glanced at Fu Yuqian. Would Fu Yuqian actually fall for this flattery? Song Yu’s sharp claws had already started to extend, itching to make a move.

But Fu Yuqian’s expression remained cold as he stared at Ye Tiansi. Suddenly, he sneered. “A firefly daring to compete with the sun and moon? What do you think you are?”

Ye Tiansi’s face turned pale instantly. He couldn’t believe Fu Yuqian would say something so harsh. If word got out, his reputation would be ruined!

“Senior, I… I didn’t mean to compare myself to Song Yu-senpai. I was just standing up for you,” Ye Tiansi stammered, his voice shaky. Tears began to well up in his eyes. He realized he had stepped on a landmine, but it shouldn’t have gone this badly. Hadn’t he seen people badmouth Fu Yuqian in front of Song Yu before, and Song Yu had seemed delighted?

Yes, that’s it! He decided to share this with Fu Yuqian.

“You wouldn’t know this,” Ye Tiansi continued, “but people used to badmouth you in front of Song Yu all the time, and he’d join in and mock you too. Even though we’re from the same company, I’ve always admired your character, Senior. I found Song Yu’s behavior quite inappropriate, which is why I said what I did. If you didn’t like it, then please forget I said anything—I take it all back.”

He finished speaking, and a tear dropped from his eyes, perfectly encapsulating the image of a pure, untainted, righteous “Little White Lotus.”

“Is that so?” Fu Yuqian reached out and pinched the soft flesh at the back of Song Yu’s neck.

Song Yu awkwardly froze, unsure how to react. Wasn’t Fu Yuqian supposed to be his nemesis? Yet, he felt embarrassed seeing Fu Yuqian defending him. Many people were already taking sides against Fu Yuqian, and now he seemed to be the odd one out. At least, he figured, he wouldn’t badmouth Fu Yuqian anymore.

Ye Tiansi stubbornly nodded. “Yes, I meant every word.”

Fu Yuqian looked down, his tone cool. “Well, let me share a secret with you. I always regarded Song Yu as a close friend. So, before Song Yu wakes up, I don’t want to see you in public.”

“Fu Yuqian, who do you think you are, acting like the big boss?” Ye Tiansi’s eyes widened in anger, momentarily forgetting his sadness.

Fu Yuqian hugged Song Yu and walked around Ye Tiansi, heading straight to the recording studio without even glancing his way. Ye Tiansi trembled; he knew the rumors about Fu Yuqian—his father was a foreign tycoon, and his two brothers were even more influential. They had bought a third of the largest entertainment agency in China to support Fu Yuqian’s career. If Fu Yuqian wanted to blacklist him, it was as simple as a word.

Filled with regret and fear, Ye Tiansi barely dared to report the incident to his company. His assistant had to tell them, and soon Ye was called back to the company, berated and scolded.

Fu Yuqian specifically asked for a chair and placed it beside him, allowing Song Yu to sit comfortably. Meanwhile, he discussed the demo with the music producer, who already had the basic idea down from their previous listening session. Fu Yuqian sang a rough version, and the producer raised a few questions, to which Fu Yuqian attentively listened, showing no signs of the arrogance he had displayed with Ye Tiansi.

Song Yu sprawled on the chair, his round eyes fixated on Fu Yuqian. He replayed what Fu Yuqian had said earlier—he viewed him as a close friend? Despite being supposed adversaries, Fu Yuqian privately saw him in a different light.

Over the past nine days, Song Yu had come to realize that Fu Yuqian held no ill will towards him. He had visited him when he was in trouble, comforted his mother, and even spent time with him. If it weren’t for Fu Yuqian’s lack of gay vibes, Song Yu might have suspected an unrequited crush.

But why? Over the past three years, he had frequently clashed with Fu Yuqian, competing for resources and even swearing off any association with him. Was Fu Yuqian a masochist?

Song Yu decided to observe further.

Fu Yuqian felt Song Yu’s gaze but remained calm and focused on his work. He had learned from Song Yu—no task was beneath him, and once taken on, it deserved complete dedication.

Fu Yuqian’s voice was rich and magnetic, a natural talent. When he first started singing in the studio, it left Song Yu in awe, his ears perking up. He hadn’t heard Fu Yuqian sing before, but he didn’t expect it to be like this.

The song was titled “Take You Home,” about a couple finally setting a wedding date and the boy inviting the girl home to meet his parents, promising to cherish her forever. Fu Yuqian sang with deep emotion, his voice smooth and captivating. The final line, spoken softly, was filled with warmth and anticipation: “Will you come home with me?”

Song Yu almost nodded in agreement, realizing he was getting pulled into the song. This was almost cheating—the song was so touching it might be a hit. He could already imagine the fan frenzy at a live performance.

Song Yu shifted comfortably, letting the music lull him to sleep.

When he was picked up, he was still a bit dazed. “Meow? What time is it?”

“You slept for two hours straight. Aren’t you hungry?” Fu Yuqian gently tapped his moist little nose. Reflexively, Song Yu stuck out his tongue and licked it, grazing Fu Yuqian’s finger. Fu Yuqian paused for a moment before casually pulling back.

Taking Song Yu back home, Song Yu did feel hungry, meowing softly with his tail upright—clearly asking for food.

However, Fu Yuqian didn’t move. His expression seemed a bit sorrowful. Song Yu didn’t understand why and tilted his head to look at him. “Nemesis, what’s wrong?”

“Yi Yi, does Song Yu really dislike me?” Fu Yuqian spoke softly. “That time, it really wasn’t intentional. I was nervous and didn’t watch my step, and I’m deeply apologetic for making him look bad. I really want to say sorry to him in person. You know, Yi Yi, Song Yu is really nice—passionate, patient, gentle, and serious with everyone. Why does he only seem to reject me? I really want to be his friend.”

Song Yu was stunned. Was this really how Fu Yuqian felt? He had been wanting to apologize all this time, yet Song Yu had been avoiding sharing the same space with him.

Upon reflection, it was clear that he had been biased. The incident had been embarrassing, and the height-increasing insoles had become a target for online trolls to attack him. The more he looked at it, the more he disliked Fu Yuqian, which had led to the current situation.

Song Yu gave a soft meow, indicating he wasn’t holding a grudge. As for being friends, that might take some time for Song Yu to warm up to.

However, Fu Yuqian couldn’t understand meowing, and he still looked quite sad. With his exceptionally handsome looks, he looked even more heart-wrenching when he was down. Song Yu didn’t know how to comfort him, so he climbed onto Fu Yuqian’s lap, straightened up, and rubbed his head against Fu Yuqian’s chin.

“Thank you, Yi Yi, for comforting me,” Fu Yuqian held him close and kissed his forehead.

Song Yu didn’t protest at all—go ahead, kiss all you want, just one more mouthful of fur won’t hurt.

Fu Yuqian prepared a tasty meal for Song Yu and then took a nap. In the afternoon, guests arrived at the villa—not just anyone but Ying Qi.

Ying Qi looked dispirited. “You bastard, you’re playing tricks on me!”

“How did I play tricks on you?” Fu Yuqian smiled lazily. “It was you who brought up the bet first.”

Song Yu was a bit confused. What was going on here?

Ying Qi glared at Fu Yuqian, but Fu Yuqian remained unfazed. “Today, you must streak. If you fulfill the bet, I’ll let you borrow my car.”

Upon hearing this, Ying Qi hesitated. He gritted his teeth—sure, he had been beaten by Fu Ge many times in the past, so what’s one more for a beloved car? He was willing to go all out!

He confidently threw off his clothes: “Let’s do it!”

Fu Yuqian quickly covered Song Yu’s eyes. “Yi Yi, don’t look, it’s going to hurt your eyes.”

Song Yu: “……” Don’t cover my eyes, I want to see!

Ying Qi: “…Seriously, my body is perfect, look at this perky butt! Fu Yuqian, you scoundrel, I’ll remember this!”

Saying that, he had finished stripping down to just a flashy black thong. Ying Qi’s physique was meticulously trained—slim waist, perky butt, and flowing lines. He set up his phone and started goofing around in the living room. Initially, he was a bit embarrassed, but then he let loose, swiveling his hips and grinding his pelvis in front of the camera while singing, “How can I escape this colorful world…”

Fu Yuqian kept his hand over Song Yu’s eyes, making him anxious. He wanted to scratch Fu Yuqian, meowing non-stop.

“Alright, you’re getting carried away now,” Fu Yuqian had to stop his goofy friend.

Ying Qi quickly put his clothes back on and reverted to his refined self. He gritted his teeth and edited the video, leaving only a short segment: “It was just for courage, okay?”

Closing his eyes, he sent the video to Fu Yuting and then shut off his phone. Holding up the car keys, he shrugged at Fu Yuqian. “Here you go.”

Fu Yuqian had already prepared the keys and chuckled. “Take it.”

Ying Qi gripped the beloved car keys, feeling that it was worth it—even if he got a slap or two!

After Ying Qi left, it wasn’t half an hour before Fu Yuting called. His voice carried a hint of mild anger. “Third Brother, did you rile Ying Qi up again?”

“Big Brother, I’m just looking out for you,” Fu Yuqian chuckled. “If you’re really into someone, you have to make the first move. If you don’t, you’ll regret it if Ying Qi gets married without ever having confessed his feelings.”

Fu Yuting replied, “I don’t have those kinds of feelings for Ying Qi.”

“This is a matter of personal opinion,” Fu Yuqian said. “Today, I’ve suppressed a little celebrity again. This video is my apology.”

The Fu family parents were quite indulgent with their children, as long as no one killed or set fire to anything, you were still their beloved. So, Fu Yuting had long taken on the responsibility of educating both his brothers—Fu Yuqian and Ying Qi. Over time, this duty bound him. Fu Yuqian, fond of his older brother, saw Ying Qi’s bet as an opportunity to assist him.

As for the apology, it was also about not spoiling Fu Yuqian. Despite his reasons for keeping people out of the entertainment circle, Fu Yuting had always been behind in lecturing him. Now that Fu Yuqian was aiming to win over Song Yu—essentially starting a family—the fact that their older brother had come all the way to chide him was a bit embarrassing. So, he used Ying Qi for a bit of fun.

Fu Yuting received the video and decided not to press the matter further, though he did warn, “No more of this.”

“Thanks, Big Brother.”

Fu Yuqian hung up the phone, and everything was perfectly settled.

But he didn’t expect that the little star he suppressed—Yue Tiansi—would send him a wave of support.
