Blairand had never imagined that one day he would personally teach a male zerg how to mark himself.
For such matters, male zergs are usually self-taught. They often frequent entertainment venues before reaching adulthood, surrounded by countless female zergs, kneeling at their feet, willingly offering everything they have—wealth, their bodies, their dignity…
But Ah Sui didn’t understand anything.
He hadn’t had the chance to understand.
Blairand’s chest rose and fell for a moment, unable to control himself as he reached out to cup Ah Sui’s face. His golden hair had grown down to his waist, soft and silky, damply sticking to both sides of his cheek. His appearance was beautiful, yet not without an edge, making it hard to distinguish between male and female. “Ah Sui, do you really want to mark me?”
Ah Sui remained silent, leaning in to kiss him through the mist of water. His technique was no longer the innocent and inexperienced one it had been before. In that moment, Blairand knew that the other was no longer so easily satisfied.
While guiding him step by step, Blairand gasped and whispered, his words laced with irresistible allure: “Ah Sui, once you mark me, you must become my partner…”
Ah Sui naturally agreed. He raised his hand to push his damp hair back, exposing his sharp features, his eyes full of bright, sparkling amusement. “Alright.”
Blairand kissed him deeply, murmuring against his lips, “Don’t regret it…”
Don’t regret it…
Once a female zerg is marked, the zerg markings on the back of his neck will change color, and at that point, no one will be able to hide it. Blairand, who had always lived by rules and regulations, was now facing a gamble that risked his life and fortune. Yet, he still didn’t know the outcome or whether he would win or lose.
The male zerg’s pheromones flooded the air, overwhelming and all-encompassing, like a spring walk by a grassy creek, followed by a fine, silken rain—natural and unpretentious, a quality that Salaranfa would never possess.
Blairand found it almost impossible to maintain his composure amidst the overwhelming pheromones. He could only grip Ah Sui’s shoulders tightly to keep himself from collapsing. Behind him, his shoulders uncontrollably spread out a pair of translucent wings, shimmering with a mesmerizing iridescence, too beautiful to behold.
It was a mating display unique to the southern female zergs.
Ah Sui reached out and touched the wings, which trembled, shedding droplets of water. The corners of Blairand’s eyes turned red, and he buried his head against Ah Sui’s neck, his voice hoarse as he whispered, “Don’t…”
It was clear that Ah Sui wouldn’t listen to him.
This male zerg was not as obedient as imagined; tonight, he even began to slip out of control.
Blairand felt dizzy, as if he had experienced a bizarre dream. He didn’t even know how he had left the bathroom. By the time he regained consciousness, he was already lying in bed.
Ah Sui lay beside him, propping his chin up as he curiously observed the female zerg. His fingertips slowly traced the zerg markings on the back of Blairand’s neck. The ancient pattern had quietly changed color.
He had successfully marked this female zerg.
Blairand slowly opened his eyes in a daze, struggling to move his body. It took him a few seconds to realize what had happened the night before. He looked up at Ah Sui beside him, momentarily stunned. The latter, however, leaned closer, nuzzling his neck like a puppy. Soft strands of hair brushed against his cheek, bringing a slight, ticklish sensation.
“Blairand…”
Ah Sui murmured softly, “Your zerg markings have changed color.”
Blairand hadn’t expected that Ah Sui would mark him so deeply on the first try. Upon hearing this, he instinctively touched the back of his neck. The zerg markings there were no longer burning hot; they had finally settled into a calm state, and even his restless psychic energy had eased somewhat.
His cheeks flushed with lingering embarrassment, and he instinctively tried to pull away, only to be held even tighter by the male zerg. Ah Sui, who had trained with a sword for years, had well-defined muscles in his arms, and it was easy to feel the strength they contained.
Blairand found it hard to catch his breath as Ah Sui held him tightly. “Ah Sui, let go.”
At his words, Ah Sui finally loosened his grip a little, but it was even more entangling than before, almost as if he had tasted something he craved. He playfully nuzzled Blairand’s ear and asked with a coquettish tone, “Blairand, can I mark you again tomorrow?”
Such words were bound to make a zerg feel embarrassed, but for a female zerg, it was a compliment. It meant the male zerg was very satisfied with their body and would likely cherish them more after marriage.
Blairand’s eyelashes fluttered for a moment at the words, and in a hoarse voice, he asked Ah Sui, “Do you really like it?”
Ah Sui’s emotions were always straightforward, without any concealment. “I like it.”
Blairand reached out and hugged Ah Sui, gently ruffling the male zerg’s hair. “Let’s wait until next week.”
Once a female zerg is deeply marked by a male, there is a period of weakness that lasts for seven days. Although Blairand didn’t know how other males behaved, he could vaguely sense that Ah Sui was a bit too “vigorous.” He might not be able to withstand it.
Upon hearing this, Ah Sui didn’t seem disappointed. Instead, he leaned closer and quietly asked in his ear, “Does that mean I can marry you now?”
They had already slept together, so they had to take responsibility.
Blairand’s emotions grew somewhat complicated upon hearing this. On one hand, he was glad that Ah Sui didn’t intend to just take what he wanted and leave, but on the other, he felt troubled by Ah Sui’s status. He gently coaxed, “Let’s sleep first. We’ll sort it out once the citizenship paperwork is done.”
Ah Sui asked, “Tomorrow?”
Blairand nodded. “Tomorrow.”
Ah Sui then asked, “Does that mean I can go out tomorrow?”
Blairand thought for a moment, figuring a little disguise shouldn’t be a problem. “Yes, but you’ll need to change into some different clothes.”
Ah Sui, excited by the idea of going out, rolled around on the bed. He remembered the neighbor he had seen across the street earlier that day and couldn’t help but ask, “Do other zergs live across from you?”
“Across?”
Blairand thought for a moment and then replied, “You mean Prince Gaien, the Eighth Prince? But he’s rather reclusive and rarely leaves his house, so you won’t see him often.”
Ah Sui curiously asked, “It seems like he has a limp on one leg?”
“Shh.”
Blairand quickly pressed a finger to his lips, lowering his voice as he reminded, “The Eighth Prince was injured during a battle, and his leg never fully healed, which is why he limps. If you ever encounter him, make sure not to mention it.”
Ah Sui suddenly said without any context, “But my Grandpa San also has a limp on one leg.”
Blairand froze for a moment. “…The Eighth Prince is your grandfather?”
It couldn’t be, right?
Ah Sui looked at Blairand as if he were being foolish. “Of course not. My Grandpa San and I both have black hair and black eyes. He has white hair and red eyes, so he doesn’t look anything like my Grandpa San.”
Blairand secretly let out a sigh of relief, realizing how ridiculous his earlier thought had been. He propped himself up with his hands and sat up in bed, intending to clean himself up. However, he noticed that his body was already completely cleaned. He instinctively turned his head toward Ah Sui and asked in surprise, “Did you bathe me?”
Ah Sui, a bit embarrassed, rubbed the tip of his nose. “Mm.”
Blairand had been so weak in his legs that he couldn’t even stand at the time. Under the overwhelming influence of the pheromones, all he could do was cling to Ah Sui and cry. Those things couldn’t be left uncleaned, so Ah Sui had no choice but to help him wash up.
Blairand thought to himself that this male zerg was truly naive. He lay back down on the pillow and, with a helpless sigh, said, “Don’t do it again next time.”
Males shouldn’t be doing such things, and those things were meant to stay inside the body, otherwise, reproduction wouldn’t be possible. Ah Sui had been foolish enough to clean it all away.
Ah Sui didn’t quite understand but obediently responded. The drowsiness in his mind washed over him like a tide, and he quickly fell asleep on the pillow.
The next morning, Blairand went to the military archives to find a way to help Ah Sui obtain a set of fake documents. Once that was done, they would just need to go to the hospital for a blood purity test and record the information into the Star Network. Then, Ah Sui would be officially recognized as a legal citizen of the Empire.
Blairand returned home with the documents and, on the way, stopped by a store to buy several sets of clothes for Ah Sui. This male zerg had spent too much time in the interstellar pirate hideout, always wearing the same old short-sleeve shirt and long pants. Compared to the well-dressed males of the Empire, he was indeed starkly different.
“Put this outfit on,” Blairand said, handing him the clothes. “We’ll go to the hospital together later.”
After arriving home, Blairand took out a casual outfit from the shopping bag and handed it to Ah Sui. The top was a pure white hoodie, paired with gray sports pants and black-and-white sneakers. He wasn’t entirely sure about Ah Sui’s preferences, but this style was relatively popular in the capital lately. At least the colors weren’t too bright or garish.
Ah Sui quickly changed into the clothes, then looked at himself in the mirror. Turning to Blairand, he asked, “Does it look good?”
Ah Sui already had a youthful, tender face, and with this outfit, he looked even younger—radiating an energetic, fresh vibe, like a high school graduate just out of school.
Blairand couldn’t help but feel an odd sense of being an “old bull” pursuing young grass. He took a box of hair dye from the shopping bag nearby, poured a little into his palm, and rubbed it evenly. “It looks good. Come here, let me change the color of your hair.”
Ah Sui’s hair color was too dark to conceal easily, so Blairand used a temporary color cream to change it to a light brown, even adjusting his eyebrows to match. “This dye is something the military uses for disguises during missions. It can only be removed with a special solution, and it should last for about a week.”
Ah Sui looked at himself in the mirror and saw that his hair had indeed turned brown, but his eyes were still black. “What about my eyes?” he asked.
Blairand went to the bathroom to wash his hands, and when he returned, he held a pair of contact lenses. He gently cupped Ah Sui’s face and helped him put them in. In an instant, Ah Sui’s eyes transformed into a light blue, resembling the color of a calm lake.
“Just wear the contact lenses to cover it up,” Blairand said.
Blairand gestured for Ah Sui to look in the mirror, and he leaned in closer as well. At a glance, their eye colors looked strikingly similar. With a cryptic murmur, he said, “The same blue as mine.”
Ah Sui leaned in closer to the mirror, carefully inspecting his reflection, then blinked a few times. “It looks good.”
He’s really handsome!
…
After Blairand and Ah Sui finished getting ready, they headed out, only to realize that it was the weekend and the traffic was heavily congested. Both cars and flying vehicles were stuck at the intersection of the city center, unable to move forward. They had no choice but to find a nearby parking spot to land and decided to walk the rest of the way.
Strictly speaking, this was Ah Sui’s first time entering the city. As he stepped off the flying vehicle, he immediately saw the grandest buildings in the capital’s commercial district. Countless skyscrapers stretched into the sky, while the streets designated for flying vehicles resembled a giant snake, winding through the air. Store attendants were standing at the door, trying to attract customers. It was a stark contrast to the desolate, fugitive journey he had been on—a dazzling and prosperous scene of wealth.
Ah Sui tucked his hands into the pockets of his hoodie and stood at the side of the road, looking up at the towering shopping mall. He couldn’t see the top at all and thought to himself, no wonder so many people loved coming to the city—it really did look beautiful.
Seeing him standing there in a daze, Blairand called out, “Do you want to go inside and take a look?”
Ah Sui felt a bit tempted but was also worried about causing trouble. Hesitating, he asked, “Is that okay?”
Ah Sui’s striking appearance had already caught the attention of many female zergs as he stood by the roadside. Noticing this, Blairand quietly took Ah Sui’s hand, subtly asserting his claim and blocking the curious, prying gazes. “It’s fine,” he said, “We still have an hour before your scheduled blood test. You can take a look around and see if there’s anything you like. We can buy it and take it back.”
It was the weekend, and many stores on the street were holding promotional events. As Ah Sui reached the entrance of a dessert shop and was about to check the menu, a swarm of female zerg attendants immediately rushed over, surrounding him with enthusiasm. Blairand was quickly pushed to the side.
“Your Excellency, today our store is offering a new product tasting event. Female zergs get a 10% discount, and male zergs get 30% off. Would you like to come in and try?”
“We also have an empty table inside. If you’d like to dine, we can arrange it for you right away.”
Ah Sui had never encountered such a scene before, and he was left feeling a little confused. He awkwardly avoided the female attendants’ subtle, flirtatious gestures, his face turning red as he waved his hand to decline, saying, “No… no need, I’m just looking around.”
He was wearing a white hoodie, looking quite young, his face flushed as if he wanted to refuse but didn’t dare to, which only made the female attendants more captivated. Just as they were about to try harder to invite Ah Sui inside, a cold, icy voice suddenly rang out from behind them: “This gentleman said he doesn’t need it. Don’t you understand?”
Blairand had already anticipated the kind of attention Ah Sui would attract once they arrived in the capital, but seeing it firsthand still made his mood darken for a moment. He stepped forward, pulling Ah Sui out of the encirclement, and cast a cold glance at the attendants. His gaze was so imposing that they didn’t dare approach, and only then did he turn to leave with Ah Sui. “Let’s go,” he said.
Blairand gently adjusted Ah Sui’s collar, his frown deepening as he spoke in a low voice. “This street is too chaotic. Next time, if you see those females, make sure to avoid them, understand?”
Ah Sui, still a bit shaken from the experience, asked in confusion, “Why do they always cling to me to pitch their sales, but not you?”
Blairand paused upon hearing this, his emotions complex and hard to decipher. He lowered his voice and said, “Ah Sui, this is the Imperial Capital, it’s different from the interstellar pirate lair we used to live in. The Klayt Alliance has many males, but here it’s different. Every male in the Imperial Capital is more precious than gold. Females will do whatever it takes to find a place to belong, just like what happened earlier.”
“Males can marry many females. You’re a male, you can also…”
Before Blairand could finish speaking, Ah Sui suddenly hugged him tightly. The male seemed somewhat displeased upon hearing such words. He furrowed his brow and muttered, “I won’t marry that many females. I’ll only marry you.”
Ah Sui lowered his head and immediately saw the changed zerg markings on the back of Blairand’s neck. He ran his finger over them for a moment, unable to control the memories of the bone-chilling sensation from last night. Turning his head, he kissed Blairand gently and said, “I only like you, just you.”
Ah Sui was still somewhat afraid of insects, but if the zerg was Blairand, it didn’t matter.
The Zerg race had an open culture, with males flirting with beautiful females on the streets. In comparison, the two of them standing by the roadside and embracing didn’t seem like a big deal at all.
Blairand was momentarily stunned when he heard Ah Sui say he would marry only him. Just as he was about to say something, a voice full of surprise suddenly sounded from behind: “Blairand?!”
Upon hearing the voice, Blairand’s expression changed instantly. He quickly pulled away from Ah Sui, as if struck by electricity, and turned around in surprise. He saw a silver-white sports car, which had quietly stopped at the side of the road without him noticing. The window was lowered halfway, revealing a golden-haired military female sitting inside. His brows were furrowed, and his expression looked somewhat serious.
