IMAO Chapter 92

Brother and Sister

As the spacecraft slowly descended below the atmosphere, all the tourists in the hall simultaneously looked out through the transparent windows.

Below them was an endless stream of flying cars.

“Holy shit, a Phantom 98! There are only a thousand custom-made units in the entire galaxy!”

“Damn, there’s another Phantom 98 over there!”

The speaker was clearly a car enthusiast, hastily taking out his communicator to snap pictures of the vehicles.

The passengers on the spacecraft sighed in amazement. The tycoons of North Mali were famous throughout the galaxy, their wealth reaching astronomical levels.

“As expected of the Land of Jumps, the local tycoons of North Mali live up to its reputation.” Gu Bai clicked his tongue in amazement. His family ran a business and was considered quite wealthy in the Federation, but compared to the luxury vehicles everywhere in North Mali, he was stunned.

“Holy crap! Am I seeing things?” Liu Shan pointed at a lightning-fast flying object below North Mali and swallowed hard. “Guys, that’s a K91, right?”

Cyril looked in the direction Liu Shan was pointing. Not far from the Princess of the Night, a small jump ship was flying parallel!

It was clearly a K91!

The K91 was a small military warship from the Orlan Empire, compact and capable of carrying only about ten people.

When an Orlan national warship appeared, Cyril’s scalp tingled and his face instantly turned pale. Even Ji Rong and Jiang Yuan became tense.

A national warship appearing in another country was no joke!

“Hahaha.” Seeing the students’ worried expressions, He Chuan waved his hand. “It’s fine, don’t worry. You’ve never been to North Mali before, so it’s normal you don’t know. Never mind the K91, you might even see mechas later.”

Jiang Yuan was slightly surprised, but his confusion quickly disappeared as the K91 small jump warship stopped above a building. Two men in black suits, sunglasses, and ties descended from the ship, followed by a couple.

The man wore a white suit, while the woman wore a beautiful red dress, her arms wrapped around his. They were obviously a couple.

“Damn, using a K91 as a car?” Liu Shan had a look of realization. “North Mali’s wealthy are seriously on another level. I’m impressed.”

Cyril frowned, “How do they even get their hands on these? These are military-grade weapons!”

Ji Rong narrowed his eyes and said softly, “As long as you pay enough, interstellar arms dealers can solve any problem for you.”

He Chuan smiled and shrugged, clearly agreeing with Ji Rong’s words.

In fact, the wealthy people of North Mali had many more tricks up their sleeves! The K91 wasn’t the only thing he’d seen in North Mali. Small ships and mechas from various nations, there was nothing that couldn’t become a ‘ride’ for these North Mali elite.

Due to the Federation’s strict control over weapons exports and its advocacy for peaceful development, Federation mechas and small ships were the rarest sight in North Mali.

The occasional Federation mechas and small ships seen were those lost during the previous war with Rick.

He Chuan had only seen them once, and he couldn’t figure out where those arms dealers got them from. The only possibility was from Rick. During the war, both countries had destroyed each other’s fighters and mechas…

It was impossible to source them from within the Federation. They were extremely sensitive about selling weapons of war, and their citizens strongly opposed warfare.

The spacecraft landed smoothly. Instead of resting on board, Jiang Yuan’s group went directly into North Rio to find a restaurant. After a simple meal of North Mali cuisine, Jiang Yuan put down his food and said, “I’m still feeling a little uncomfortable. I need to visit a hospital. I’ll return to the ship by myself later, so don’t wait for me.”

“What exactly is wrong with you?” He Chuan asked with concern.

Jiang Yuan shook his head. “It’s nothing serious.”

Seeing Jiang Yuan’s reluctance to discuss his condition, He Chuan didn’t press further. “Okay then, message me when you’re back on the ship.”

“Sure,” Jiang Yuan responded.

After chatting with his companions a bit more, Jiang Yuan grabbed his coat and headed out.

Ji Rong followed without a word.

“Wait for me.”

Jiang Yuan glanced back at Ji Rong. Originally, he didn’t want Ji Rong to come along. After all, it was their first time in North Mali, and Ji Rong could have explored North Rio with Gu Bai and the others instead of going to the hospital with him. But despite bringing it up several times yesterday, Ji Rong had insisted on accompanying him.

“Are you sure you don’t want to look around?” Jiang Yuan asked after some thought.

Ji Rong replied, “There’ll be plenty of chances in the future.”

Jiang Yuan: “Well… okay.”

At the hospital, the doctor was very professional. After hearing Jiang Yuan’s description, they had both men take blood tests. Half an hour later, they received the results.

“Well, it’s not a major issue. It’s pheromone dependency syndrome,” the doctor said calmly after reviewing the report.

Jiang Yuan looked at him. “What’s the specific cause?”

“From our tests, it’s caused by your boyfriend’s extremely strong pheromones,” the doctor continued matter-of-factly.

Hearing the word “boyfriend,” Ji Rong quietly turned his head away, his ears and neck completely red.

Jiang Yuan didn’t bother correcting the doctor’s choice of words and continued asking, “Extremely strong pheromones?”

The doctor was about to explain further when he turned to Ji Rong and said, “Could you please step outside for a moment?”

Ji Rong pointed at himself. “Me?”

The doctor smiled slightly. “Yes.”

Ji Rong: “…”

Why did he have to leave again?!

Nevertheless, Ji Rong obediently left the room. Once only Jiang Yuan and the doctor remained, the doctor continued –

“Well, pheromone strength refers to the level of impact on Omegas. If we say that the pheromones produced by an average Alpha have an impact level of 100 on Omegas, then your boyfriend’s strength is three times that of a normal Alpha, which means 300…”

The doctor flipped to another page of the examination report.

“Your pheromone compatibility with him is very high. Your dependency on his pheromones will be extremely severe, and you might even develop an aversion to other Alphas’ pheromones.

“This isn’t really an illness and doesn’t need treatment. When you feel unwell, just hug your boyfriend and take a few breaths. That’ll solve it. However, if you two break up, you’ll need a very long time to adapt to other Alphas’ pheromones.”

Jiang Yuan was completely speechless upon hearing this. He hadn’t realized Ji Rong’s pheromones had such a strong influence.

He finally managed to ask with difficulty, “Then… what if he’s not around?”

“Not around?” The doctor glanced at Jiang Yuan, seemingly understanding something, and said seriously, “Your boyfriend seems quite decent to me. I’d advise against breaking up. For AO pairs with high compatibility like yours, it’s very difficult to completely clear the pheromones from the glands.”

Jiang Yuan: “…No, that’s not what I meant. I can’t be with him 24/7, right? There will be times when he’s not around.”

The doctor smiled. “Oh, that’s fine. His worn clothes contain pheromones and can alleviate the symptoms. When he’s not around, you can make do with his clothes. Many pregnant Omegas do this. It’s not a big deal.”

Jiang Yuan: “…Thank you, doctor. I’ll be going now.”

When Jiang Yuan walked out, Ji Rong immediately came over and asked about the situation. “What did he say?”

Jiang Yuan took a deep breath to compose himself and said, “Nothing serious. But why do you… have such strong pheromones?”

Having heard the earlier part about causing Jiang Yuan’s pheromone dependency syndrome, Ji Rong said very softly, “You’d have to ask my parents about that. Did the doctor say how to solve it?”

Jiang Yuan knew he couldn’t blame Ji Rong. It was inherited. With a slightly embarrassed expression, he said, “…Just give me your worn clothes.”

Ji Rong: “…”

Seeing Ji Rong’s silence, Jiang Yuan explained, “The clothes have your pheromones. Smelling them can help with the condition.”

As an Alpha who had researched related topics, he naturally knew there were two ways for Omegas to alleviate their dependency symptoms: either through direct exposure to an Alpha’s pheromones, or through the pheromones left on an Alpha’s worn clothes.

Ji Rong: …Why smell clothes when you can smell me directly!

As they walked out of the hospital entrance together, Jiang Yuan looked around and spotted a young boy, probably not yet twelve, holding hands with a little girl about the same age. The girl was pale, and she looked to be in a bad condition. The two stood across the street, looking nervous. The boy’s hands and feet were trembling slightly.

Jiang Yuan frowned slightly as he observed them.

Ji Rong beside him had also noticed the siblings.

Just as they were about to leave, two robot police officers appeared behind the children and seized them.

“Let go of me! Let go!”

The boy’s shout immediately drew the attention of nearby pedestrians.

The passersby uniformly showed expressions of disgust. The child’s clothes were filthy, with an unknown black stain on his chest. He reeked of body odor from not having bathed for a long time, mixed with some other indescribable smell.

“Please, let me go, I worked so hard to get here… I worked so hard to get here…” the boy pleaded, clearly no match for the robots’ strength.

“Let go of me, my sister is sick, we need to go to the hospital for treatment…”

The boy’s voice was loud enough for everyone around to hear clearly, including Jiang Yuan and Ji Rong.

“How did these filthy creatures get past the border? Those damn border patrol, who knows what they’re doing with their bribes! I’m going to report them!”

“They stink like trash, it’s nauseating.”

A man spoke in an extremely sharp voice, waving his hand in front of his nose. He made no attempt to hide his disgust for the two children.

“Get rid of them quickly!” A young woman frowned as she spoke.

“As you command.” The robot police responded and moved to take the children away.

“No… please, I’m begging you, I just want to get treatment for my sister, we’ll leave right after!”

“Treatment? Do you even have money?” The sharp-voiced man looked at the siblings with contempt. “Go back to your slums!”

The little girl bit her lip hard, clutching tightly to her brother’s arm. Noticing his sister’s anxiety, the boy instinctively held her close, patting her shoulder. “Don’t be scared, meimei[mfn]妹妹 (mèi mei) – younger sister / young woman[/mfn], don’t be scared!”

Oh no, I have a feeling there’s something very wrong with North Mali and the slums are the symptom… Perhaps these ‘Gentlemen Pirates’ might know a thing?
