ABLO Chapter 61

After Ruan Mian boarded the warship, he didn’t go to disturb Lu Yang. Instead, he went straight to the medical personnel’s office alone, where all the medical staff were.

Doctor Zhao was more experienced and had worked as a military doctor before, so he stood in the center to guide everyone.

Ruan Mian went over to help. He was lowering his head to organize the things he needed for work. Liu Minghu suddenly knocked on the door and stood at the door to call Ruan Mian out.

Ruan Mian took off his gloves, walked out of the door, looked at him in surprise, and asked: “Why are you here?”

“The Major General asked me to come.” Liu Minghu smiled, took out a fluffy pendant, and handed it to Ruan Mian, “Sister-in-law, this is what the Major General asked me to give you. He said that if you hear the roar of artillery fire and feel scared, put this on your body.”

Ruan Mian took the fluffy pendant and held it in his hand. He looked down and couldn’t help but smile. He could recognize that it was made of arctic wolf fur. It felt a little stiff, but surprisingly smooth.

Liu Minghu looked at the fluffy pendant in Ruan Mian’s hand and pouted. He felt that the Major General was being overly cautious. As long as they didn’t fall, the enemy wouldn’t break into the warship.

In his view, even if his sister-in-law is an Omega, he shouldn’t be so timid as to be scared by a bit of noise. Besides, even if he is scared, what use is a small tuft of wolf fur? Could it be used as a weapon?

He really didn’t understand the little couple’s affection, so he only dared to grumble in his heart.

Ruan Mian put the fluffy pendant into his coat pocket, put it close to his chest, looked up, and smiled at Liu Minghu, “Thank you for giving it to me.”

“You’re welcome.” Liu Minghu smiled and scratched his head, “Then I’ll go back first.”

Ruan Mian nodded, watched him walk away, and went back to the room.

Wang Dali and Shen Cheng were arranging things. When they saw him return, Shen Cheng looked up and couldn’t help but joke, “It’s nice to have someone who cares about you. Unlike me, a lone wolf on the battlefield with no one to care for me.”

Ruan Mian smiled, walked to the table, and sat down, poured a glass of water for each of them, and asked Shen Cheng, “Then why did you take the initiative to apply to be an accompanying military doctor?”

“You two are here, so how could I not come? I can’t let our school down,” Shen Cheng said with a smile.

He didn’t want to admit it, but after arriving in Ancheng, he felt a surge of passion and signed up without a second thought.

Ruan Mian smiled and lowered his head to drink a sip of water.

Wang Dali looked at him and asked worriedly: “Will you… be alright?”

He knew that Ruan Mian’s animal form was a rabbit, which made him timid, so he was worried that Ruan Mian might not be able to handle the psychological pressure on the warship.

Ruan Mian smiled and shook his head, “It’s okay; I have a secret weapon. I won’t be afraid.”

He gently touched the wolf fur in his pocket with his fingers and felt an inexplicable sense of security. Even if he was in the warship, he was not so scared.

Wang Dali knew it was related to Lu Yang from his expression, so he did not ask more questions automatically, so as not to be stabbed in the chest again.

In the next few days, the army and the pirates officially went to war, and there were more and more patients in the infirmary. Ruan Mian was very busy every day. The bombing outside the warship became louder and louder as the battle continued. Lu Yang had to command the battle and was also busy all night.

Ruan Mian’s animal form is a rabbit, naturally making him more timid than most. For him, even stepping onto the operating table for surgery requires a lot of courage and is filled with pressure. Now, he not only has to perform one surgery after another but also face the bombing sounds outside the warship. Every time he hears the sudden loud explosions, he can’t help but tremble. Thankfully, Lu Yang gave him the fluffy pendant, which helps him feel much more at ease.

Whenever the roar outside was too loud, Ruan Mian reached out and touched the pendant in his pocket, so that he could put his mind at ease and devote himself to work better.

He gradually adapted to the workload on the battleship and felt the cruelty of the battlefield for the first time. He looked at the wounded one by one, and all he could do was work harder. Even if he was worried about Lu Yang and wanted to go see Lu Yang, he didn’t dare to delay for a minute.

After a few days, the number of wounded gradually decreased, and everyone could take a break for a while.

During the break, Shen Cheng looked at the patients in the room and suddenly said, “I won’t leave. After the internship, I’ll stay in Ancheng.”

Doctor Zhao removed his mask, patted him on the shoulder, and said with satisfaction, “Young man, well done! Young people need to have passion. We’re all getting old and need you young folks to take over. If everyone feared life and death, sought only pleasure, and didn’t dare to come to Ancheng, then who would protect the peace of the empire?”

Shen Cheng looked at Doctor Zhao a little embarrassedly, and said guiltily: “In fact, I didn’t want to come at first and came here out of necessity.”

Doctor Zhao smiled nonchalantly, “When I was young, it was the same for me. I was sent here by my teacher, but after I came, he wanted me to leave, and I didn’t want to go.”

Wang Dali, listening to their conversation, couldn’t help but laugh and interjected, “So you were the same, too.”

“Yes, back then, few of us were willing to come. You guys…”

Ruan Mian listened quietly for a while, then smiled, took a bottle of milk, and went out, wanting to take a break and breathe more.

He walked to the window at the end of the battleship corridor, leaned against the wall, drank a sip of milk, and looked at the thick smoke outside the window, slightly absent-minded.

He didn’t have much rest time these days and slept very little, so his eyes looked a little tired.

If there weren’t fewer patients today, everyone would have no time to breathe and rest a little. This was the busiest Ruan Mian has been ever since he started working.

“What are you thinking about?” Lu Yang came over at some point and asked behind him.

Ruan Mian turned around when he heard his voice and couldn’t help smiling.

Although they were on a warship, they didn’t have many opportunities to meet. Apart from knowing that each other was safe, they didn’t have much time to talk.

Lu Yang’s expression was more serious than usual. A light stubble had appeared on his chin, and his sharply defined cheeks made him look even more handsome, adding a touch of ruggedness.

Ruan Mian shook his head, “I wasn’t thinking about anything; I was just a little sleepy.”

Lu Yang stared at his face for a moment, and his eyebrows suddenly frowned tightly.

He reached out and gently touched Ruan Mian’s chin and whispered, “What happened to your face?”

There was a bruise on Ruan Mian’s chin, which was particularly obvious on his fair skin.

Ruan Mian was stunned for a moment, and then he remembered that he still had injuries on his face. He had been wearing a mask on his face these days, but he forgot to use it when he relaxed today.

He couldn’t help but feel a little annoyed. Lu Yang had seen it, and it was too late for him to cover it.

“It’s okay.” Ruan Mian slightly tilted his head, moving the wound out of Lu Yang’s sight, and explained calmly, “A few days ago, a patient was in severe pain and accidentally hit me.”

Lu Yang’s eyes darkened as he reached out and turned Ruan Mian’s chin, examining it carefully in the sunlight.

Ruan Mian’s skin was fair and flawless, making the bruise stand out starkly. Lu Yang could tell that the injury was a few days old, yet it was still so prominent, indicating how severe it must have been when it occurred.

The soldiers in the army were mostly Alphas who had undergone intense training. When they lost their senses due to pain, they couldn’t control their strength, and this punch must have been very heavy.

“Does it hurt?” Lu Yang’s fingers trembled slightly as he touched Ruan Mian’s chin, his heart aching uncontrollably.

Over the years that Ruan Mian has been by his side, he has never allowed anyone to hurt Ruan Mian, and he has never let Ruan Mian suffer such an injury.

Now that Ruan Mian was injured right under his nose, Lu Yang couldn’t avenge Ruan Mian, nor could he blame anyone, because the soldier who hit Ruan Mian was already severely injured and had lost his control due to the pain.

“It doesn’t hurt.” Ruan Mian smiled and comforted him, “I’ve applied medicine, so it doesn’t hurt at all.”

Lu Yang looked at him distressed, stretched out his hand, and gently held him in his arms, saying softly, “Tutu, it will be over soon.”

Ruan Mian hugged his waist, nodded gently, and said softly, “Baby Lu, I believe you.”

He yawned lightly, leaned against Lu Yang’s chest, and closed his eyes slightly.

“Are you sleepy?” Lu Yang touched the soft hair on the back of his head.

Ruan Mian nodded, his eyebrows drooped, and admitted it honestly.

“Sleep for a while.” Lu Yang said softly, “There’s no war today, so there shouldn’t be more patients.”

Ruan Mian thought about it and felt that what he said made sense. Taking advantage of the fact that there were no new patients, he could sleep a little longer to conserve his energy.

“Okay, I’ll sleep for a while. Remember to wake me up later.”

“Yeah.” Lu Yang picked him up, “Sleep.”

Ruan Mian reached out and hugged Lu Yang’s neck, leaning in his arms. He didn’t ask Lu Yang where he was going to take him and closed his eyes at ease. Anyway, Lu Yang wouldn’t sell him out, and he was willing to go wherever Lu Yang took him.

Lu Yang smiled lightly, ignored everyone’s gaze, and carried Ruan Mian back to the meeting room steadily.

The soldiers, seeing the Major General holding his fiancée, tried hard to pretend not to notice but couldn’t help but feel shocked.

Their cold and frosty Major General actually had such a tender and affectionate side!

Lu Yang didn’t know the shock in everyone’s heart. He carried Ruan Mian into the room, sat down on the office chair, turned up the temperature in the room, put Ruan Mian on his lap, and gently touched the hair by Ruan Mian’s ear.

Ruan Mian leaned on his shoulder, breathing steadily, and had fallen into a deep sleep. His pink lips occasionally moved slightly, as if he was talking in his sleep, but he didn’t make any sound. He looked cute and obedient, making people want to put a carrot in his arms.

Lu Yang’s eyes were gentle. He looked at him quietly for a while, and his eyes fell on the place where he was injured, and his eyebrows couldn’t help but frown slightly.

Lu Yang stared at the wound for a while, and the more he looked, the more uncomfortable he felt. The little rabbit he had protected for so many years was so easily injured by someone.

He couldn’t help but lower his head, gently placing a soft kiss on the bruise, like a feather brushing against it, careful not to apply any pressure.

He hugged Ruan Mian tighter with pity and rubbed his chin gently on the top of Ruan Mian’s head.

He changed his mind and decided secretly that he would issue an order tomorrow, asking soldiers not to hurt doctors and nurses when they were injured, no matter how painful it was. Otherwise, no matter whether they lost their control due to pain at the time, they would be subject to military law after they recovered.

This was also to allow medical staff to treat patients with peace of mind, and so it was not biased.

Lu Yang gritted his teeth slightly. As for the soldier who hurt Ruan Mian, he must be discovered. After he recovered, he must find a reason to punish him to run ten or twenty laps.

This was him being biased.

Although it was unreasonable, he was protective, especially of the little rabbit. When it came to anything related to the little rabbit, there was no reasoning with him.
