Chapter 27: The Outburst part 1
“When I came back yesterday, he came to find me and asked if I wanted a massage…” Jin Yanliu said, “I thought since he was already here, I might as well let him do it… I know you don’t like him, but we still have to film together in the future, and we have a lot of scenes together. I just wanted to get familiar with him and build some rapport.”
He looked at Zhou Beiyang as he finished speaking. Zhou Beiyang asked, “Did you take your clothes off?”
Jin Yanliu was silent for a moment, not understanding the point of Zhou Beiyang’s question, so he just answered truthfully, “Yes, I took them off.”
Hearing this, Zhou Beiyang’s eyes were about to turn red. He pressed his lips tightly and didn’t say anything for a long time.
“What’s wrong?” Jin Yanliu couldn’t help but laugh, “It was just a massage.”
“Didn’t I tell you, either go find a professional masseur outside, or have me do it, don’t go to Yan Huihua. He likes you, didn’t you notice?”
Since he had already made it clear, Jin Yanliu decided to be honest, “I noticed.”
Zhou Beiyang looked straight at him, “You know he likes you, and you still did that?”
Jin Yanliu smiled awkwardly.
Zhou Beiyang turned his head slightly, “Didn’t you say you don’t like him, and that you don’t have anyone you like now?”
His voice suddenly became low, sounding particularly dejected and heavy, as if the person he liked had fallen for someone else.
Jin Yanliu suddenly noticed that something was off, he felt that Zhou Beiyang’s current state was not at all like how a younger brother should be.
He had heard that there are people in this world whose family affection and romantic love are blurred, and their possessiveness will be especially strong, like some single mothers who raise their sons alone, and when the sons grow up and start dating, they will obstruct them and claim ownership. This is almost a psychological disorder.
He never thought that Zhou Beiyang would have this kind of problem.
But he had never seen Zhou Beiyang like this before, he actually felt a bit reluctant, so after a moment of silence, he gently said, “I apologize to you, please don’t be like this.”
He walked over and patted Zhou Beiyang’s shoulder.
Zhou Beiyang seemed to have calmed down a bit, turning his head to look at him, his gaze so unfamiliar, with a hint of vigilance, fear, and malice.
“The night is late, you should rest early, I’ll go back as well,” Zhou Beiyang said.
He then pushed the door open and left.
Jin Yanliu stood there for a while.
Seeing Zhou Beiyang’s other side so abruptly, Jin Yanliu didn’t sleep well that night. He thought for a long time and felt that Zhou Beiyang might have really mixed up the feelings of love and kinship.
The next day, when it was time to eat, he still didn’t see Zhou Beiyang.
Usually Zhou Beiyang would come to his room, prepare his clothes, and have breakfast with him.
“Where’s Xiao Yang?” he asked Xiao Pang.
Xiao Pang said, “He seems to still be sleeping.”
“We’re about to have the opening ceremony, and he’s still sleeping?”
Jin Yanliu went to knock on Zhou Beiyang’s door, and after a long while, Zhou Beiyang came to open it. His expression was exhausted, his eyes red-rimmed, his hair messy, and the stubble on his chin quite prominent.
Jin Yanliu had never seen him look so dejected.
“We’re about to go to the opening ceremony, don’t sleep anymore, wash up and get ready to leave.”
Zhou Beiyang gave a “mm” sound.
Jin Yanliu felt awkward, he looked at Zhou Beiyang and went back to his own room.
Today was the opening day, extremely busy. After eating, he went to meet with Director Liu Qichang and others. Amid the busyness, he forgot everything. After worshiping the gods, they also held a small media meet-and-greet, with a lineup of handsome men and beautiful women, very eye-catching. When Zhou Beiyang was being interviewed, Jin Yanliu observed him from the side and felt that he seemed normal.
His speech was appropriate, neither too fast nor too slow, and although he rarely smiled, when he did, it was particularly charming. Under the sun, his skin looked especially white, only the occasional red thread in the corner of his eye betraying his fatigue.
Today they only filmed a short scene, and the rest of the time was spent rehearsing the big scenes for tomorrow. All the actors were present, and Jin Yanliu, with his multiple roles, was so busy that he didn’t even have the energy to speak.
His voice had even become hoarse.
He went to rest in the shade, and as soon as he sat down, he saw Zhou Beiyang come over and hand him a bottle of mineral water.
Jin Yanliu sat up and took a sip of water. Zhou Beiyang said, “In my opinion, you should just focus on acting, leave the rest to Director Liu and the others. You’re wearing yourself out too much.”
It was as if the incident from yesterday was just a dream. Jin Yanliu gripped the bottle of mineral water and said, “It’s only for the past few days that I need to personally oversee things, once the filming is on track, it’ll be fine.”
He had just finished speaking when a staff member called him, so he handed the mineral water back to Zhou Beiyang and hurried over.
Zhou Beiyang drank from the bottle where Jin Yanliu had just drunk.
He almost lost control yesterday, not sleeping the whole night, but towards the end of the night, he became fearful.
Because he knew that if he confessed, he would be rejected 100%.
The rejection itself was not terrifying, but what was terrifying was that their brotherly bond might dissipate as a result.
Brotherly affection without blood ties is actually quite fragile, easily blown away by the wind.
He felt that he was now in a dilemma, his heart burning, but he was helpless. He looked at Yan Huihua in the distance, both envious and resentful of him.
Yan Huihua’s mood wasn’t great either today.
He felt that Jin Yanliu had been avoiding him a bit.
His impulsive move last night was mainly because Zhou Beiyang’s hostility towards him was too great, and on top of that, he had heard that Jin Yanliu had dinner with Zhou Beiyang last night, so he felt that Zhou Beiyang had already made a move. He even skipped dinner, thinking about it for a long time.
Zhou Beiyang’s conditions were better than his, and he had spent much more time with Jin Yanliu, Yan Huihua felt that he was no match for Zhou Beiyang.
Seeing the person he liked about to be taken away by someone else, the sense of urgency suddenly arose, and even the calmest man would become anxious. The hatred and hostility towards a romantic rival is almost an animal instinct. He didn’t know what was wrong with him, when he saw Zhou Beiyang returning from dinner with Jin Yanliu, he just wanted to jab him a bit.
It was full of aggression.
He felt that this two-faced Zhou Beiyang should let Jin Yanliu see his true colors. He was so good at pretending in front of Jin Yanliu.
In the evening, the main actors and TV station leaders had dinner together, and they had to drink a bit of alcohol. The drama was set to air on a major satellite TV station, and the leader who came was a middle-aged man with a big belly, surnamed Zhang, a purchasing director. A man of this position and age, with a bit of power and often in contact with celebrities, was not a good person. Seeing his refined and elegant appearance, Jin Yanliu was not surprised, but he was very annoyed to see the man constantly trying to get the young actors to drink.
Director Zhang had a taste for good-looking men, and naturally, Jin Yanliu was his favorite. Who wouldn’t love a handsome and beautiful actor? Even his unsavory friends, when it came to Jin Yanliu, would say “I can also give it a try.” When beauty reached a certain level, it became gender-neutral.
However, Jin Yanliu’s identity was somewhat special. He was not only a top-tier celebrity, but he also had Jin Weinan as his father. People in the circle were very polite to him, calling him “Young Master Jin.” Director Zhang didn’t dare touch him. In fact, the really famous ones, he had the heart but not the guts, including someone like Zhou Beiyang, whose power was not yet at the level to be able to exploit top stars.
His eyes roamed among the group of newcomers, and Yan Huihua seemed to be the one most to his liking.
These days, there were many dramas but few platforms, and the top satellite TV stations had to fight tooth and nail, making the purchasing directors particularly powerful. He relied on his purchasing director identity to exploit many new actor trainees, both straight and bent, the circle of fame and fortune, too many people couldn’t resist the temptation and coercion. He felt that he was already a good man, he didn’t force people, he insisted on mutual willingness, and sometimes he just indulged his oral fixation, not really making a move.
“Little Yan, Zhang Ge has great expectations for you,” Zhang the director said, his hand reaching out to rest on Yan Huihua’s shoulder, “When this drama airs, you’re sure to become popular.”
Yan Huihua had encountered this kind of person before, and he maintained his basic decency, but did not flatter. The more he was like this, the more Zhang the director liked him.
This young man was handsome, not much different from Jin Yanliu, and he had a sense of upright purity, which was very attractive. If he couldn’t be exploited, at least he could enjoy a bit of groping.
Just as his hand was about to slide down Yan Huihua’s back, it was grasped by someone.
