After his phone call, Jiang Luoluo thought Fu Tingchuan looked strange, but he didn’t think much of it, assuming work wasn’t going well.
Later, Fu Tingchuan kept glancing at his face. Remembering his job as a little canary, Jiang Luoluo always gave him a sweet smile.
But the sweeter his smile, the stranger Fu Tingchuan looked.
Jiang Luoluo really couldn’t figure it out. He made up an excuse about taking a shower and dashed off to the bathroom.
When he came out again, Fu Tingchuan leaned against the headboard, chatting on the phone. Hearing Jiang Luoluo’s movements, he waved him over without looking up.
Jiang Luoluo obediently sat on his lap, holding a towel to dry his hair.
The voice from the phone sounded a bit familiar like he’d heard it somewhere before. It was drawn out, almost coquettish.
“Tingchuan-gege, I gotta thank you for today. If it wasn’t for you, I don’t know what I would’ve done…”
Ew, it’s that fish farmer guy and his childhood white moonlight!
Jiang Luoluo felt it wasn’t right to eavesdrop and tried to get up from Fu Tingchuan’s lap. But just as his thin waist started to lift, Fu Tingchuan’s hands pressed down again and pulled him back.
Fu Tingchuan shot him a look. “Hm?”
Jiang Luoluo obediently sat back down on Fu Tingchuan’s lap.
Bai Tang, hearing Fu Tingchuan’s voice, assumed he’d joined the call and continued:
“It’s my first time going somewhere like that…”
The voice from the phone hesitated, then lowered in tone, sounding a bit hurt:
“I’ve been feeling really low lately…”
At this point, Bai Tang stopped and seemed to be waiting for Fu Tingchuan to ask a question.
Jiang Luoluo’s gossipy soul flared up with curiosity. His big eyes blinked rapidly, unable to tear his gaze away. His big eyes blinked as if to say, “I want to watch a show, please tell me!”
Fu Tingchuan was choked by his expression of not caring about him at all.
Jiang Luoluo was excited and wanted to kindly remind Fu Tingchuan that his line was coming soon, but he didn’t dare to disturb other people, so he stretched out his small hand and tapped Fu Tingchuan’s lips to remind him that it was his turn to speak.
Seeing Fu Tingchuan’s eyes gradually deepen, Jiang Luoluo felt guilty and wanted to take his finger back.
A big hand grasped Jiang Luoluo’s wrist. Fu Tingchuan’s eyes moved from his half-moist eyebrows to his soft lips, and Adam’s apple slid quickly.
Long, slender fingers touched Jiang Luoluo’s hand, sliding from his wrist to his soft fingertips.
Jiang Luoluo didn’t understand what Fu Tingchuan was doing and just watched with wide, round eyes.
In the next moment, he finally got it, and a blush spread across his cheeks—
Fu Tingchuan looked at him through half-lidded eyes, his clear, moist gaze holding a hint of a deep smile. He gently pushed the finger pressed against Jiang Luoluo’s thin lips a bit further inside…
And gave it a soft bite.
Jiang Luoluo’s breath hitched, his face burning as if someone had set it aflame. His heart raced, and his breathing became ragged.
He’d never been in a situation like this before and instinctively wanted to pull away, but Fu Tingchuan’s hand firmly gripped his waist, leaving him unable to move an inch.
All that remained was a helpless wave of embarrassment.
A voice continued to come from the call. “Tingchuan-gege…”
Aware that Fu Tingchuan was listening on the call, Bai Tang carefully chose his words, thinking slowly:
Since Fu Tingchuan has liked me for so many years, he definitely won’t fall for someone else easily.
To be honest, I don’t like Fu Tingchuan’s personality—it’s a bit too gloomy. But when it comes to looks, wealth, and influence, he’s top-notch. So I can’t bring myself to let go.
So Bai Tang could only straddle that line—partially engaged, partially withdrawn—try as he might to hook Fu Tingchuan.
“You know, Tingchuan-gege… there’s someone I care about…”
“I can’t say exactly how I feel about him—it might be love, admiration, possessiveness, or something else entirely…”
“We’ve known each other for ages, and he always looked out for me. He’s incredibly important to me…”
Bai Tang’s voice trailed off, sounding more and more wronged. “But it seems like he’s fallen for someone else now…”
“He doesn’t belong to me anymore…”
When he finally finished that last word, his voice cracked slightly. Anyone who heard it would have felt their heart go out to him.
Yet neither of the two people in the bedroom right at that moment was in the mood to listen closely.
Jiang Luoluo had buried his face in Fu Tingchuan’s arms, covering his small mouth with both hands, scared he might slip up.
But it was like Fu Tingchuan had no control—he kept getting worse and worse as if he needed to hear his voice.
On the other end of the line, Bai Tang couldn’t hear Fu Tingchuan’s voice, and that made him unsure of his feelings. He cleared his throat. “Tingchuan-gege, are you still there?”
“Go on,” came a voice from the phone, a chill at its edge, and the speaker sounded like they were trying to hold something back.
A sense of understanding passed between Bai Tang and the person he was speaking to. Fu Tingchuan hadn’t hung up the phone on him, so he was moved by what he had just said.
Seeing that this was the time to ask, Bai Tang followed up, “Do you think you could come to my welcoming banquet tomorrow, Tingchuan-gege?”
Before Fu Tingchuan could even respond, Bai Tang continued, “And… that boy with you… is that your wife? She should come too.”
Afraid that Fu Tingchuan might refuse, Bai Tang added, “I’ve been abroad for the last few years, so we haven’t met up much and haven’t caught up in a long time… My dad also said that you helped him a lot with business stuff, so he hopes you’ll come tomorrow and would like to thank you in person.”
“I understand.”
Fu Tingchuan hung up and tossed his phone aside.
He pulled Jiang Luoluo’s hand away from his mouth and gave a cold snort. “Just how curious are you?”
Jiang Luoluo wrapped her arms around his neck and sweetly cooed, “Husband, Husbamd~”
“Husband?”
Fu Tingchuan held him by the chin. “Another man calls to confess his feelings to your ‘husband’ while you sit there laughing it off?”
“You heartless fool!” The words slipped between Fu Tingchuan’s thin lips, anger building with each thought.
He provided for Jiang Luoluo, catering to his every whim without question. He feared others might bully him and worried about him constantly, even neglecting even Bai Tang.
Wasn’t that enough? Hadn’t he gone above and beyond?
What part of him wasn’t good enough? Why wasn’t he number one in Jiang Luoluo’s heart?
A nameless rage roasted Fu Tingchuan’s chest. He picked up the man in his arms and headed towards the balcony.
The plush window seat cushions echoed the silhouettes of the two men. Fu Tingchuan’s voice carried a hint of embarrassed anger as he gripped Jiang Luoluo’s waist and rebuked him, “Don’t you care about professional ethics?”
Jiang Luoluo’s voice was soft, tinged with a sobbing tone that made it hard to make out clearly.
“Wu-L-Luo-Luo knows he was wrong…”
“Jiang Luoluo’s professional ethics have officially gone on vacation, and so has mine while translating this madness. 😂 If you enjoyed this chaos, fuel my caffeine addiction on Ko-fi, and I’ll keep the drama rolling!”
Ewww, it turns out that Tang Bai is not the good sho type. And White Lotus. Annoying with that sweet tone, as if he loves Fu. Even though he doesn’t.
