Chapter 36: Heart Fluttering

Everyone on set was startled and immediately crowded around.

Fortunately, ever since Zhou Beiyang’s previous accident, they’d kept two doctors on-site.

“It’s not serious, just a fever, probably from exhaustion,” the doctor said after the examination.

“Still, let’s not take any chances. Let’s go to the hospital for a more thorough check-up,” Jin Yanliu said.

He originally intended to accompany him, but Liu Qichang said, “I’ll go. It’s not convenient for you to go to the hospital in that outfit.”

With the lead actor and director gone, the current scene couldn’t be filmed. Jin Yanliu removed his makeup, changed clothes, and went to the hospital with Fatty Xiao and the others.

Fortunately, after a thorough examination at the hospital, they also said there was no major problem, just a need for rest.

After the IV drip, Jin Yanliu brought Yan Huihua back to the hotel and specifically assigned two assistants to take care of him. “Don’t do anything today, just rest.”

“I’ve caused trouble for the crew,” Yan Huihua said.

“It’s our fault for scheduling the filming so tightly,” Jin Yanliu said. “The priority now is for you to recover. I’ll go discuss with the director about adjusting the filming schedule. Luckily, there aren’t any scenes for us tomorrow anyway. They’re filming the older generation’s dramatic love triangle.”

Hearing this, Yan Huihua smiled. Jin Yanliu patted his shoulder and returned to his own room.

As soon as he entered, he heard Zhou Beiyang ask, “I heard something happened on set. How’s Yan Huihua?”

“Nothing serious, just exhaustion. He fainted,” Jin Yanliu said. “Just back from the hospital, he’s resting now.”

“Should I go see him?” Zhou Beiyang asked.

Jin Yanliu unbuttoned his shirt and glanced at him. “If you want to go, go ahead. We’re all part of the same crew.”

“I’m afraid he might not want to see me,” Zhou Beiyang said.

Jin Yanliu said, “You’re quite self-aware.”

“Men have a sixth sense for these things, and it’s especially accurate. You can tell who your rivals are at a glance. It’s a male animal’s instinct.”

Jin Yanliu had lunch and took a nap. In the afternoon, he returned to the set. Since filming had resumed, he couldn’t stay idle. Yan Huihua was sick and couldn’t film, but Jin Yanliu could film some of his solo scenes. As the main lead, he had many scenes by himself.

Because of Yan Huihua’s situation, Liu Qichang didn’t dare to film too late, wrapping up at 10 pm. He also urged Jin Yanliu, “Take care of yourself. With both Zhou Beiyang and Yan Huihua having incidents, if you collapse, our production will really have to stop.”

“You should worry about yourself. I see you’re working harder than anyone.”

Liu Qichang filmed during the day and edited at night. He appeared to be in a constant state of exhaustion mixed with excitement, his body clearly overexerted.

Liu Qichang said, “In another week, our film will be released. Just thinking about it keeps me awake, more effective than coffee! I even dream about filming!”

Jin Yanliu got into the car and realized Zhou Beiyang wasn’t there.

“Where is he?”

Fatty Xiao said, “Brother Yang said you haven’t had much of an appetite lately, so he went to Yi Ran Ju to personally cook a few dishes for you.”

Jin Yanliu said, “Is his arm healed? Doesn’t he still have an injury?”

Fatty Xiao said, “Exactly! So, don’t argue with Brother Yang anymore. Where can you find such a good brother?”

Jin Yanliu said, “You don’t know what he’s really thinking.”

Fatty Xiao glanced at him through the rearview mirror. Jin Yanliu had already closed his eyes to rest.

He put on some light music that Jin Yanliu liked.

Jin Yanliu dozed off to the music. When they arrived at the hotel, he first went to check on Yan Huihua.

As the boss of the “Into the Devil” production, it was only polite to visit a sick actor.

But when he entered, he saw Yan Huihua reciting lines.

“Where are the two assistants I got for you?”

“I’m used to being alone all these years. I’m not used to having assistants. I’m not familiar with them, and it’s awkward being in the same room with nothing to say,” Yan Huihua explained.

“You have to get used to it. Once our drama airs, you might become famous. Then you’ll know you really can’t do without an assistant.” Then Jin Yanliu casually asked, “By the way, you’ve always been working solo, no agency?”

“I signed with one before, but I didn’t comply with their management and was shelved for two years. After that, I just worked on my own.”

No wonder his resources were so limited. These days, without connections or an agency, it was almost impossible to get good roles.

Such a promising talent… he really wanted to sign him to his own studio.

“How are you feeling? Any better?”

“The fever’s gone, but I’m still weak and have no energy.”

“Rest for another day tomorrow and drink plenty of water,” Jin Yanliu said. “Then I won’t disturb your rest. Don’t recite lines anymore, go to sleep early.”

He turned to leave, but Yan Huihua suddenly called out, “Yanliu.”

Jin Yanliu turned back. Yan Huihua’s face was still pale, and his eyes held a hint of sadness. “Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it. I’m the boss, it’s what I should do. I’d care for anyone the same way.” He waved his hand. “I’m going now.”

Coming out of Yan Huihua’s room, he let out a long sigh.

“Brother.”

Jin Yanliu jumped, turning around sharply to see Zhou Beiyang standing not far behind him, holding food.

“You scared me,” Jin Yanliu said. “I… was just checking on Yan Huihua.”

Zhou Beiyang hummed and said, “Look what I made for you.”

Jin Yanliu thought he’d be upset, but he didn’t seem to mind at all.

He smiled and said, “I heard Fatty say you went to Yi Ran Ju to make this?”

“Their ingredients are fresh, and they have chefs to guide you,” Zhou Beiyang said. “Let’s go. I also brought a few beers.”

Zhou Beiyang was actually still jealous. His possessiveness and jealousy were too strong. He was jealous of everything. He knew it was wrong, so he consciously restrained himself. He was more polite to Yan Huihua now, mainly because the situation had changed. Before, he felt he had no hope, so occasionally he would act out without any worries. It wouldn’t get better, and it wouldn’t get worse. Now, seeing a glimmer of hope, he knew how to restrain himself, carefully, afraid the almost-cooked duck would fly away.

Jin Yanliu had a temper, so he didn’t dare to get jealous at this time.

He had initially decided to participate in “Into the Devil” because the role of Yu Yingchi didn’t have many scenes, allowing him to juggle both acting and his band. Now, after a period of rest, his band’s new tour was about to begin, requiring him to leave the set for a week.

He really didn’t want to leave at such a crucial moment, but there was no other way. There were other members in the band, and as the main vocalist and leader, he couldn’t just focus on his own interests.

“I have to leave the set tomorrow,” Zhou Beiyang said as he got into bed before going to sleep.

Jin Yanliu hummed and asked, “Does your body still hurt? Can you practice dancing?”

“It’s mostly fine. This tour’s performances are similar to the last one, so I don’t need to practice anything new.”

Jin Yanliu hummed. “Take care of yourself.”

He then continued reading the script.

After a while, he noticed Zhou Beiyang was still looking at him, so he turned his head. Zhou Beiyang said, “I’ll be gone for about a week.”

“I know,” Jin Yanliu said. “You’ll be back just in time for the recording of our premiere event.”

“I won’t see you for a week,” Zhou Beiyang said again.

Jin Yanliu hummed again. “Don’t you have an early flight tomorrow? Go to sleep early.”

Zhou Beiyang lay down, facing him.

“Just say what you want to say directly.”

“Nothing,” Zhou Beiyang said, turning his back.

Jin Yanliu read the script for a while longer, feeling sleepy. He turned off the lights and lay down. “Wake me up when you get up tomorrow. I’ll see you off.”

Zhou Beiyang immediately turned back to face him. “I have to get up at 5 am. It’s too early. Don’t see me off. Sleep more. Don’t you have the day off tomorrow?”

“I don’t have scenes tomorrow, but Lin Jianlu is coming, and I have to pick her up personally.”

“Does she like you?”

“What?”

“Nothing.”

Jin Yanliu chuckled. “You’re really jealous.”

“I’m a jealous person,” Zhou Beiyang admitted.

Such a straightforward confession caused the feelings in his heart to overflow uncontrollably. Zhou Beiyang had long discovered a peculiar quirk within himself: he couldn’t dwell on his love for Jin Yanliu. The more he thought about it, the more intense it became, and the more intense it became, the more he wanted to think about it. Eventually, he would lose control, sometimes his eyes reddening and tearing up, wanting to devour Jin Yanliu whole.

He moved closer to Jin Yanliu and suddenly embraced him.

Jin Yanliu, already drowsy, was startled awake by the sudden hug. “What are you doing…”

“Hugging you,” Zhou Beiyang mumbled, nuzzling his neck. “Brother…”

“Don’t call me that.”

“Okay, I won’t.” Zhou Beiyang then gave his neck a couple of hard nibbles.

Jin Yanliu: “…”

Thinking it was acceptable was one thing, actually hugging and kissing was another. He was stiff and his hair stood on end. Zhou Beiyang, however, held him tighter. “I wish I could be with you 24/7. Would you be annoyed if I was with you all the time?”

“Yes!” Jin Yanliu said. “Now let go of me.”

He struggled, and Zhou Beiyang suddenly released him, sliding down to hug his leg instead.

Jin Yanliu: “…”

Zhou Beiyang hummed, rubbing his face against his leg.

Holy shit.

Jin Yanliu pushed his head away with his hand, and Zhou Beiyang suddenly bit his leg.

Jin Yanliu cried out in pain, and Zhou Beiyang immediately let go, quickly scrambling back up. “I bit you, I’m sorry, I lost control for a moment.”

Jin Yanliu felt his hair stand on end. Damn, his well-behaved younger brother, what kind of pervert was hiding underneath!

He immediately turned on the bedside lamp and saw Zhou Beiyang with messy hair and a flushed face.

“I… I didn’t mean to bite you, I just felt… I couldn’t help it,” Zhou Beiyang explained. “Let me see, how deep is it?”

Jin Yanliu kicked him to the side and checked himself. Fortunately, it wasn’t deep, just a clear teeth mark.

He frowned at Zhou Beiyang, who said, “When you struggle, I just…”

“You just what?” Jin Yanliu asked sternly.

“I feel angry and excited, and I want to…” Zhou Beiyang said, “I can’t say it, you’ll be mad.”

Jin Yanliu felt like they were two perverts who had found each other.

Because now he felt both terrified and aroused.

He really liked seeing Zhou Beiyang act like this pervert because of him.

“I won’t be angry, tell me.” His eyes changed, his tone laced with a hint of seduction and dominance.

Zhou Beiyang’s heart was overflowing with emotions, unable to be contained. Provoked by Jin Yanliu’s teasing, he felt both hatred and excitement. His eyes darkened, filled with a sinister glint. “I want to fuck you to death.”

Jin Yanliu kicked him off the bed.

Zhou Beiyang, however, became even more excited. He got up from the floor and said, “Look at me, aren’t I a pervert? If I can’t have you, I want to ruin you. Fuck you senseless so you can’t go anywhere, so you belong only to me.”

Jin Yanliu, blushing furiously, grabbed a pillow and started hitting him. Zhou Beiyang ran, because he was a pervert. The more intense it got, the more excited he became. If he stayed any longer, he might actually force himself on Jin Yanliu.

Jin Yanliu, face flushed, panted for a long time, his body covered in sweat.

Damn, that Zhou Beiyang…

So hot.

His heart was truly racing.

Hah, men!
