IMAO Chapter 114

Emotional Damage

*Beep*

Just as they returned to the dorm and put down their shopping bags, Jiang Yuan was about to say something to Ji Rong when his communicator suddenly beeped.

Ji Rong closed the door and asked, “Who messaged you?”

“…” Jiang Yuan paused for a few seconds before holding out his communicator to Ji Rong. “See for yourself.”

The communicator showed a link from Ji Yang. When opened, it revealed photos of the two of them shopping at the supermarket together.

Jiang Yuan secretly glanced at Ji Rong, worried he might be upset, when he suddenly noticed that Ji Rong seemed to be… slowly breaking into a smile.

Jiang Yuan was completely confused.

Was he imagining things, or did Ji Rong actually look happy seeing these photos?

Ji Rong tapped something on his communicator, and a moment later, Jiang Yuan’s device pinged again.

“Ji Yang sent you another message,” Ji Rong said, handing the communicator back.

Jiang Yuan took it.

Ji Yang: Are you two moving in together?

“…” Jiang Yuan’s fingers froze as his gaze swept across the room. Come to think of it, with everything in pairs in his dorm now, it really did look like they were living together.

Shit, Ji Rong must have seen that!

Jiang Yuan: Don’t talk nonsense.

He instinctively looked at the person beside him. Ji Rong’s elegant index finger was sliding across the screen, his brows slightly furrowed in concentration. From Jiang Yuan’s quick glance, he could tell Ji Rong was probably reading the forum thread.

What he didn’t know was that the person with the serious expression was doing something completely opposite to what his face suggested.

Ji Rong’s index finger hovered over each photo for two seconds as he saved every single one to his communicator. Only after saving the last photo and scanning through the comments did he exit the forum.

Ji Rong looked up to find Jiang Yuan staring at him.

“Why are you looking at me?” Ji Rong pretended to be calm as he locked his communicator and put it away.

“Nothing…” Jiang Yuan hesitated. “Did you… see the message Ji Yang sent me earlier?”

Ji Rong’s expression remained unchanged: “No.”

“That’s good…” Jiang Yuan sighed in relief. It’s better that he didn’t see it.

Ji Rong already knew but still asked, “What did he send? Am I not allowed to see?”

“Nothing,” Jiang Yuan said, “He… he asked about visiting the research institute with me this weekend.”

Ji Rong’s lips curved into a slight smile. “Have you asked Professor Xu yet?”

Jiang Yuan shook his head. “Not yet.”

“I want to go too,” Ji Rong said.

“I’ll ask…” Jiang Yuan opened his communicator and messaged Professor Xu.

Professor Xu didn’t seem busy and replied quickly.

“What did he say?” Ji Rong leaned closer to Jiang Yuan and asked.

Jiang Yuan said, “Teacher said we can go. There’s actually a business tour this weekend. Many big companies will be sending representatives to the research institute. We just need to register in advance.”

Ji Rong nodded. “Mm.”

“Did you read the content in that link earlier?” Jiang Yuan asked.

“I did,” Ji Rong replied.

“…”

After thinking for a moment, Jiang Yuan said, “We shouldn’t have gone shopping together.”

Ji Rong couldn’t refuse his father, so he was just helping out. But they weren’t actually dating, and now with this news spreading across campus, it wouldn’t look good for Ji Rong.

While lost in thought, he heard Ji Rong’s calm voice. “Does it… bother you?”

Jiang Yuan instinctively shook his head, “No, I’m just worried your future partner might want to kill me when they find out…”

Ji Rong lounged on the sofa, propping his chin with one hand while looking up at him, and said seriously, “They won’t.”

Jiang Yuan: “Huh?”

Ji Rong: “I said my future partner won’t mind.”

Jiang Yuan: “…”

Jiang Yuan: “I think they’ll still mind somewhat. I should message the moderators to delete the post.”

Ji Rong said with certainty, “No need. Trust me, they won’t mind.”

Damn.

Like hell they won’t!

This kind of thing would definitely bother someone a lot.

Jiang Yuan wanted to say more, but after a moment of thought, he decided to drop it.

After knocking for quite a while, someone finally came to open the door. Ji Yang was about to speak, but he froze when he saw the handsome face of the person who answered.

Ji Rong stood there in his pajamas, giving him an unfriendly look.

“Why are you here?”

Ji Yang scratched his head and said, “It’s the weekend. I came to get Jiang Yuan for the research institute visit.”

Ji Rong’s brows furrowed slightly as he stepped back. “Come in. Wait for a bit.”

Ji Yang shook his head. “I’ll wait outside.”

“Suit yourself.” Ji Rong turned and walked back into the room. “We won’t take long.”

Ji Yang cleared his throat and was about to speak when Jiang Yuan poked his head out of the room, asking, “Why don’t you come in?”

Ji Yang: “The air is nice outside…”

Jiang Yuan glanced at Ji Yang but didn’t think much of it. “Alright, I’ll be quick.”

Ji Yang watched the two of them squeezed together in the bathroom, brushing their teeth—

Damn.

And Jiang Yuan accused him of talking nonsense before!

Was he really talking nonsense?

He was stating facts!

When that door opened, Ji Rong’s pheromones hit him like a wave. Good thing he was a Beta. An Alpha might have passed out on the spot!

And still!

Jiang Yuan still dare say he was talking nonsense?!

Jiang Yuan said, “Okay, let’s go.”

Ji Yang gave Jiang Yuan a look and said, “Are you sure you don’t need scent concealer to mask that smell?”

Jiang Yuan sniffed himself and asked in confusion, “Is the scent too strong?”

Ji Yang didn’t answer, instead sneaking a glance at Ji Rong, and sure enough, Ji Rong glared at him.

Jiang Yuan went back to his room to find some scent concealer and sprayed it on himself. “Is it better now?”

“Much better.”

Ji Yang actually wanted to say that Ji Rong’s pheromones hadn’t been completely covered up, but his lips twitched, and he didn’t dare continue.

Someone was glaring at him!

Threatening him with just a look!

After sniffing himself again, Jiang Yuan checked the time. “Let’s go, it’s getting late.”

Ji Rong casually closed the door, holding one of Jiang Yuan’s jackets. “I grabbed your jacket for you.”

“Thanks.”

Just as the three reached the entrance of the dorm building, Ji Rong draped the jacket over Jiang Yuan’s shoulders. After they got in the car, Ji Yang sat quietly in the front seat, watching the two in the back through half-closed eyes in the rearview mirror.

Jiang Yuan seemed tired and was sleeping against Ji Rong.

“Jiang Yuan,” Ji Rong called out softly.

Jiang Yuan didn’t respond, already asleep.

Ji Rong tilted his head, gently touching Jiang Yuan’s face, then his lips, his movements tender as his eyes fixed on Jiang Yuan’s lips…

Ji Yang accidentally met Ji Rong’s gaze in the rearview mirror and blurted out in panic—

“I didn’t see anything! Go ahead, kiss him if you want!”

Damn, his life was hard.

Ji Rong was such a pain to deal with, always glaring and snapping at him! He was just a Beta, he had no thoughts on Jiang Yuan, okay? What was he being so protective for?!

Just as Ji Yang was complaining about Ji Rong, he suddenly saw Ji Rong actually plant a light kiss on the corner of Jiang Yuan’s mouth in the rearview mirror, and he immediately felt uncomfortable.

He actually went and stole a kiss!

He was just talking!

Why did he have to go out with two people who were dating?

Why did he have to suffer this emotional damage?
