SABL Chapter 94

As the eldest grandson, and because of his high differentiation level and strong abilities, Lu Yunye has been valued by the old man since he was a child. One of the four courtyards was demolished for him as a separate house, and kept for after he married and came back to live.

But… his room is on the far east, and Shi Yi will be to the farthest west. To find him, he has to go through two arches, pass by the main room, and cross the driveway, which is inconvenient no matter how one looks at it.

And Shi Yi just left with Lu Yan, without even giving him a look.

Lu Yunye was about to follow and bring Shi Yi’s clothes and luggage, but was stopped by his cousin. “Yunye, I heard that you opened a dessert company, what are your plans in the future?”

The elders around exchanged glances, and the housekeeper took the luggage from him in a timely manner: “Master Lu, let me.”

Lu Yunye could only sit down with a belly full of complaints and forcefully chat about business matters.

His cousin’s son, Lu Yue, is just five years old this year. He loves to play, and is a little alpha. He naturally worships Lu Yunye, his uncle who has been in the army, like a god. When he saw Lu Yunye sitting down, he ran over excitedly, ” Little uncle, have you really beat up bad guys before?”

Lu Yunye patted his head absently: “Yes.”

“What kind of gun did you use?”

“Can you give me a try?”

Lu Yue’s questions were endless. Lu Yunye was in a hurry to find someone, and he didn’t want to fool the children, so he had to bite the bullet and answer.

Lu Yue’s father still wanted to discuss serious matters with Lu Yunye, so he waved his son away: “Go play first. After lunch, your little uncle will take you to set off firecrackers.”

“Okay!” Lu Yue finally ran away happily.

After dealing with the small ones, Lu Yunye had to deal with the big ones. Finally, when he stopped to take a breath, it was already noon.

The old man took a sip of tea to moisten his throat, and called his children and grandchildren to the dining room. “Where are Xiao Song and the others?”

“Brother Song Xi and Brother Shi Yi are in the kitchen!” Lu Yue ran in from the outside, his mouth was smeared with oil, obviously he had eaten a lot.

“How can we let them in the kitchen?” The old man hurriedly walked out. “We can’t let them do this!”

Several children and grandchildren hurriedly followed, for fear that the old man would make a mistake if he walked too fast.

So a bunch of alphas blocked the door of the kitchen, watching the cooking aunts put the meals on the plate one by one, while the two new daughters-in-law were sitting around a bubbling pot, studying how much mushrooms should be added.

Shi Yi had only made soothing soup before, and didn’t know much about chicken soup. Staying in the room was boring, and he might as well come out and find something to do.

The two of them studied the bag of dried mushrooms, and Shi Yi said, “We have a lot of people, why don’t we put half a catty[mfn]a little over half a pound[/mfn] first?”

Song Xi nodded: “That should be about right.”

Then he almost poured the whole bag in with a shake of his hand: “Oh, I put too much.”

Shi Yi stirred the spatula, and said skillfully, “It’s okay, it’s not a big problem.”

Everyone outside the door: “…”

Lu Yue was the first to break the awkward silence. He jumped in and hugged Shi Yi’s thigh skillfully: “Brother Xiao Yi, I want to eat that sweet-scented osmanthus cake!”

The snacks hadn’t been plated yet and were still piled up on the table. Shi Yi took a piece of sweet-scented osmanthus cake and fed it into his mouth with a smile. “What else do you want to eat?”

It was rare for him to see such a well-behaved and clingy child, with a round face and a pair of black and bright eyes, very similar to Little Pinecone in his memory.

“Brother Xiao Yi, hug me!” Lu Yue acted coquettishly. He was too small to reach the table, and stretched out two chubby hands to grab Shi Yi’s clothes.

Shi Yi bent down and picked him up. The five-year-old little alpha was heavy, like a little meatball in his arms. Lu Yue hugged his neck, and kissed him on the face. “I like eating whatever Brother Xiao Yi gives me!”

Compared to those grown-ups who ignored him, these two omega brothers were extremely gentle. Not only do they smile at him, but they also give him all kinds of food, and they smelled good too. Compared with the shy Song Xi, Shi Yi interacted with him a little more, so Lu Yue immediately forgot about his beloved toy guns: “I like Brother Xiao Yi the most!”

Lu Yunye and his cousin looked at each other in blank dismay, and completed the wordless communication with their eyes in a very short time.

Cousin: My son is still so young, when did he learn how to flirt with omegas?!

Lu Yunye: He’s teasing my omega!

So the two rushed forward at the same time. One took his son down and hugged him to the side to educate him: “Don’t kiss omegas casually.” The other took his wife into his arms and coaxed: “He is still young and ignorant, don’t let him have his way.”

Shi Yi was puzzled. “He’s very cute.”

Song Xi shyly ran to Lu Yunqing’s side, “Sister, Brother Xiao Yi and I made the chicken soup.”

Lu Yunqing hugged him, looked at the mushrooms that had gradually swelled, and pressed her twitching eyes with one hand. “Okay, I must drink more.”

So that day, on the dining table of the Lu family, there was a pot of chicken soup full of mushrooms. The chicken was stewed and soft, until it was tasteless, and everyone had a full bowl in front of them.

Mr. Lu took a sip first, and narrowed his eyes in enjoyment. “Not bad, not bad, at this age, it’s best to eat something light, everyone eat!”

“Delicious!” Lu Yue nodded exaggeratedly, picked up a large piece of chicken and stuffed it into his mouth. “Xiao Yi and brother Xiao Xi’s cooking is really delicious, and they’re also both good-looking!”

The grandparents and great-grandson sang together, until Lu Yue was flicked on the back of the head by his father. “Eat, why are you so glib at such a young age?”

There was a sound of chopsticks moving around, and the salt shaker on the table was passed around countless times.

After lunch, a card table and a mahjong table were set up in the room. Relatives came to sit down one after another, and friends and Mr. Lu’s former comrades-in-arms also joined in to chat and have fun.

After playing a few rounds of mahjong with his old man, Lu Yunye was expelled. “Go, go, none of us are fooled by you staying here.”

Naturally, he was happy to finally be free. Standing up gracefully, he pushed the pile of banknotes he had won to Lu Yan, letting him take his place.

Lu Yan was having fun playing with his mobile phone, and did not dare object when he was suddenly called over to accompany their elders.

The north room has the best sunlight, and is surrounded by an outdoor greenhouse with large glass windows. Lu Yunqing was taking a nap on the sofa with Song Xi in her arms. Lu Yunye looked at the two omegas that were busy, and suddenly realized that there was no one in the west courtyard!

He slipped to the west courtyard, and sure enough Shi Yi was the only one in the room. The windows were closed tightly – he should be preparing for an afternoon nap.

Lu Yunye knocked on the door, and squeezed in before anyone could fully open it. Shi Yi let out an exclamation when he entered, but then he covered his mouth and pushed him to the side.

“What are you doing here?” Shi Yi glared at him. Lu Yunye should be out there socializing, not running to a side courtyard like some thief!

“Then why don’t you share a room with me?” Lu Yunye felt very wronged.

“Song Xi didn’t want to live in the same room as your sister either.” Shi Yi was simply baffled. “Besides, I’m just your boyfriend now. It’s my first time coming here. If we shared the same room, what would your grandparents think?”

Grandma Lu needs to recuperate due to physical reasons, so she never showed up earlier. And after several interactions, he knows that Grandpa Lu is not the kind of old close-minded fogey either. But staying in the same room still makes Shi Yi feel awkward, and is also why he’s restrained when asked to join in the Lu family activities for the first time.

“What should I do with you?” Lu Yunye refused to let go. Resting his head on Shi Yi’s shoulder, he buried his nose and mouth into the soft hair, and took a deep breath.

“It’s not that we can’t see…”

Shi Yi was hugged and squeezed to the side of the bed. The afternoon sunlight came in through the slit in the window curtains, leaving patches of mottled light…

It was his first time at the old house and he wasn’t able to relax completely. Now that he smelled Lu Yunye’s scent, his whole body slowly relaxed. Shi Yi couldn’t help raising his head, and lightly squeezed Lu Yunye’s throat.

Lu Yunye suddenly felt his breathing tightened, and he fell onto the bed with his arms around his person. The big carved solid wood bed was solid and heavy underneath them.

This is his territory, and the person in his arms is so obedient, Lu Yunye finally couldn’t help covering those two thin lips, when suddenly there was a knock on the door!

Shi Yi was startled, and his conditioned reflex pushed him away. Lu Yunye was caught off guard and hit the bedpost, clutching his head and groaning.

“Are you all right!” Shi Yi hurriedly straddled him to check, a faint peach fragrance lingering in his movements.

Lu Yunye was annoyed at the person outside who shouted, “Brother Xiao Yi, are you there? Is my little uncle here? He said he would take me to set off firecrackers!”

“It’s Lu Yue.” Shi Yi had a good impression of this kid. He hurriedly put on his slippers and got off the bed to open the door. He bent down and said to the kid outside, “Why are you here?”

“Brother Lu Yan said that little uncle is here.” Lu Yue held a firecracker in his hand, and his voice was a little aggrieved. “They don’t play with me, and there are no children at home. Liars.”

Lu Yan… Lu Yunye ground his molars. He knew that this guy was bored, and didn’t want anyone else to be at ease either. He originally wanted him to accompany his elders for him, but unexpectedly, Lu Yan sent over a pawn to checkmate him.

Shi Yi’s heart ached. Lu Yue is the only child in the family, and the older ones were unwilling to take him with him. He knew how lonely it is for a child to be unaccompanied in a big family, and also knew how disappointed he would be to have promises unfulfilled. So he squatted down and held Lu Yue’s hand: “Let little uncle accompany you to set off firecrackers now, okay?”

Then he turned his head and said to the other person in the room, “Lu Yunye, get up quickly.”

The child blinked at him with black and white eyes, and reached out to touch the corner of Shi Yi’s mouth. “Brother Xiao Yi was bitten by a mosquito, it’s so red.”

Shi Yi was startled, and subconsciously touched his lips, which were a little swollen. “This mosquito, I’ll swat him to death later tonight.”

A chill ran down Lu Yunye’s back as he walked forward and clasped Lu Yue’s shoulders with his big hands: “Let’s go set off the firecrackers.”

The moment of tenderness vanished, and the child’s energy was extraordinarily abundant. When they returned after playing, Lu Yue’s little hands and face were flushed from the cold, but that didn’t stop him from jumping and running with excitement.

It got dark very early, but in the evening, the clouds were full of red and the skies were dark purples. Accompanied by wisps of clouds, night slowly fell.

Compared with the poor-tasting chicken soup at noon, New Year’s Eve dinner is much more grand. Various tables were set up with wine and juice. There was catered suckling pig and roast duck, dumplings stuffed with black truffle and pork, made by the whole family. The Spring Festival Gala played in the background, creating a great festive atmosphere.

Not long after, the sound of fireworks came from outside the house. One after another, like colorful snow blasting from the sky, and then falling and scattering light spots all over.

Lu Yue didn’t eat many dumplings. He ran around with a sparkler, but was caught and fed by his mother.

Shi Yi stood in the courtyard, watching the lively fireworks in the sky, and felt it was all a little unreal.

Suddenly, a pair of big hands stretched out to cover his ears, and Lu Yunye’s voice sounded behind him, “It’s not noisy?”

“No, very happy!” Shi Yi shook his head vigorously.

The tip of his nose was red from the cold, but his eyes were bright. “I have never had such a lively New Year.”

“Then you have to get used to it,” Lu Yunye chuckled. “Because we will spend many such festivals together in the future.”

The clock struck midnight, and the sound of New Year’s greetings came from the TV. Lu Yunye lowered his head and sucked Shi Yi’s lips, exchanging the first kiss of the new year.

The fireworks and the night drew away into a grand background, and the hustle and bustle of gunfire and human voices seemed to fade away.

Shi Yi could only hear a magnetic, mellow voice in his ears: “Happy New Year, boyfriend.”
