The ribbon-cutting ceremony was scheduled a hotel auditorium in the city center.
All employees were invited to participate. That day, the Feiyi Building was full of flower baskets, with Yunye Media’s flowers placed in front, making the office feel more lively than the auditorium itself.
Shi Yi still wore his usual black suit with a dark blue jacquard tie, but there was an added tie clip for decoration. The pearls on the clip were white and shiny, softening the cold colors.
The two of them left at the same time. Lu Yunye pulled him in front of him for a check, and finally loosened a button on the top of his shirt: “The buttons are so high, aren’t you suffocated?”
As soon as he unbuttoned it, he saw a bright red mark. Shi Yi gave him an angry look, and buttoned it back again: “Whoever gnawed it is a puppy.”
He didn’t even mention the wounds on his chest that were scratched by fabric; even wearing an undershirt didn’t help. The bruises on his shoulder blades were still there too. All of them were debts someone owed.
“Baby is so pretty, I can’t help it,” Lu Yunye said without any concealment. “You’re the president of a listed company, and still so shy.”
“Next time, I won’t press you down. How about from behind?”
Shi Yi couldn’t bear to hear his mouth run off like a train so early in the morning. After putting on his coat, he couldn’t cover his reddened neck which was flushed with shame. He just wanted to wait until he could calm down.
But when he reached the door, he hesitated again: “Lu Yunye, you…”
“I’ll come right after the meeting,” Lu Yunye kissed him lightly on the cheek. He was an invited guest and the president’s family member for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, so he naturally had to be present.
Shi Yi finally got into the car. He had to go to the company first to deal with final preparations.
All employees had stock options, so everyone was excited at the public listing. Shi Yi received countless greetings along the way, and when he entered his office, there was a large basket of bright red roses on his desk.
The roses are delicate and beautiful, in full bloom. A quick visual estimate told him there were hundreds of them, covering the entire desk. The fragrance spread to the corridor, attracting the frequent glances of passing employees.
Who is so courageous to pursue the boss?
Shi Yi was also stunned, but he could guess who sent the flowers. He pulled out a square card from the middle, without any blessings written on it, only the three words “Lu Yunye” on it, as if declaring his sovereignty.
With him there, no one would dare try.
Five hundred and twenty roses, Shi Yi shook his head and chuckled. He must have ordered in advance, otherwise the local flower shops would probably have run out of stock.
He dialed Lu Yunye’s phone number, but no one answered – he was probably at a meeting.
The flower basket was too big to be lifted or let go. Shi Yi called the directors of each department up to a bunch back, and then distributed them to his employees, one flower per person.
In the end, there were less than ten flowers left, so Shi Yi found a vase to store them. After thinking about it, he took another flower and hid it in his breast pocket.
When they arrived at the hotel, Shu Wen had already arrived. He was sitting in the first row, wearing an off-white suit, and his hair was styled, making him look extraordinarily energetic.
Shi Yi was taken aback when he saw him from a distance; he hardly remembered that his omega father had such a side.
The surrounding employees cast curious eyes. Those who have been in the company for a long time still know Shu Wen, but the newcomers have never experienced that period of history. Despite being the focus of their eyes, Shu Wen’s expression remained calm.
Beside him, Shen Qing’an reached out to hold his hand. “How do you feel?”
Shu Wen raised the corners of his lips, “It’s not too bad.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony began. Shi Yi took the stage to give a speech, followed by the cooperating investment bank and funds, and then Lu Yunye as the representative of the affiliated company. Although Feiyi has become independent from Yunye Media, there are still many business contacts.
Shi Yi saw someone on stage, fearless in front of the audience, unmoved by the wind, and inexplicably remembered the 520[mfn]520 is slang for I love you in Chinese, because the numbers sound similar[/mfn] roses on the desk. He couldn’t help but bow his head and chuckle.
Lu Yunye’s speech was solemn and serious, lacking personal feelings or subjectivity, which is true. Shi Yi relied on his own strength to grow Feiyi to this point. Even if he left Yunye, he could open up a new world.
After the speeches were over, Shu Wen came to the stage amidst applause. A hostess lady next to him handed red scissors, the ribbon was pulled up, and everyone took to the stage to take a group photo.
No one knew who began the countdown first, but the voices became louder and louder, the crowd was boiling–
5, 4, 3, 2, 1…
Shu Wen raised the scissors and cut the center of the ribbon, as if he was also cutting off those things in the past. After Feiyi went public, he was facing a new life.
The crowd cheered, and Lu Yunye stretched out his hand calmly, wrapping Shi Yi’s shoulder.
Shi Yi raised his head, just in time to see the other party looking down. Their eyes collided, his throat slipped, and he suddenly felt that the atmosphere was very suitable for kissing.
Shi Yi’s ears turned red, and he pushed Lu Yunye away. He reached into his pocket to find his thank you speech notes, only to touch the rose he put in earlier.
They just looked at each other and nearly tangled their feet.
Lu Yunye raised the corners of his lips, watching omega stand in front of the stage in a hurry to deliver the final thank you speech. The ribbon-cutting ceremony ended perfectly.
Afterwards, the big investment bosses left, and those who remained went to the reception. With a red wine glass in hand, Shi Yi greeted people left and right, standing straight and dignified.
He was aware of his drinking capacity, so he didn’t dare drink too much. He just dipped his lips in lightly. Lu Yunye came over and exchanged wine glasses with him. Shi Yi brought it over and smelled it – it was the sweet and fruity aroma of grape juice.
Shu Wen left after the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Shi Yi was already very satisfied; his father had agreed to occasionally come to Feiyi as a special consultant of the design department.
Lu Yunye stayed with him until the end of the dinner party. The two of them were in the same venue all day long, but they couldn’t exchange many words. Shi Yi stood in the crowd like a young bamboo, young and sturdy.
After returning home, Shi Yi took a shower and took care of his clothes. Lu Yunye came out of the bathroom one step later, took out his mobile phone after much deliberation – it was time to confess to Shi Yi.
He dug out the jade ring buried under the tree, put it together with the one Shu Wen gave him, and asked someone to tie them together with a red string. They fit perfectly.
Even the traces of the years are not very obvious.
Lu Yunye squeezed the jade pendant in his hand. Shi Yi had already accepted him. Once he revealed his identity, he could formally prepare for the wedding.
[Chasing Bunny: Do you have time these days?]
Shi Yi is taking care of the suit he wore today. Having drank some wine, not much, he had a light buzz. Seeing the message on the phone, he couldn’t help pursing his lips. It seems that someone is unable to sit still.
Shi Yi replied slowly, [What?]
[Chasing Bunny: I want to ask you out for dinner, is it convenient for you?]
Shi Yi found the rose from his suit pocket. The petals were already wilted and worn out, but it was still fragrant. The smell was a little too strong, and the dark red juices stained his fingertips.
As if afraid of being rejected, Lu Yunye added, [I want to show you something.]
Shi Yi put his fingertips on the tip of his nose and sniffed lightly. The rotten aroma of roses is actually a bit like his pheromones, like a peach that was bitten open… Shi Yi suddenly felt his face heat up, and replied without beginning or end – [The rose you sent is very beautiful, I like it very much][mfn]I dropped the ‘user’ in these messages to make feel it more personal + that’s how it is in the raws[/mfn]
[It’s just a little wilted, can you send me a new bunch]
Maybe it’s the alcohol he drank, but he had long forgotten that the person opposite him was still wearing a vest, and habitually acted like a baby to Little Pinecone – the same way he did when he was a child.
[I don’t need 520 flowers, 1 is enough]
There was a clanging from upstairs, as if someone had slammed the door open.
Shi Yi rubbed his eyes, feeling drunk for some reason, as if his senses were dimmed. Yet the thumping of his own heart was audible.
Lu Yunye stood at the stairs, clutching his phone, looking at the blushing omega. The air was already filled with peach pheromones.
He took a deep breath and fixed his eyes on him, “Rose… what do you mean?”
Little Pinecone never gave Shi Yi roses.
Shi Yi seemed to react suddenly, loosened his fingers, and the phone fell to the carpet.
He simply pretended to be stupid, but he couldn’t hide his guilty conscience, “What rose?”
Lu Yunye walked up to him.
He pursed his lips. Shi Yi didn’t have time to tidy up his clothes or pick up the phone. He wanted to run back to his room to hide, but Lu Yunye blocked his way, so he could only run out of the room *on bare feet.
Lu Yunye stepped forward to pick up the phone, and saw Shi Yi’s note to Chasing Bunny: “Big Liar”
Happy and angry at the same time, Lu Yunye suddenly remembered Shi Yi’s sudden change of mood that night on the beach. The lack of chatter, the cold shoulder, Shi Yi’s tiny complaints when falling asleep – it turns out he found out then.
He didn’t expose it when he found out, but deliberately held him, saying that he was lonely and miserable, and made him sad.
Lu Yunye ground his teeth. It seems that a certain little rabbit likes to play tricks and seek excitement.
Shi Yi was wearing pajamas when he opened the door. The cold spring breeze made him shrink back, and cleared his feverish mind.
With the alcohol gone and having calmed down, Shi Yi paused. Lu Yunye lied first. He didn’t do anything wrong – he simply didn’t expose him.
However, when he turned his head to meet a certain gaze, he felt guilty for some reason.
Lu Yunye stretched out his hand to close the door, and with a bang, he trapped the person in the gap between himself and the door condescendingly, “I’m a liar?”
“Aren’t you?” Shi Yi raised his head, barely calm. “You are Little Pinecone, but you don’t admit it.”
His head was swollen uncomfortably, his body was very hot, and he was still trapped in a corner. Shi Yi pursed his lips, “Little Pinecone wouldn’t bully me like this.”
Lu Yunye immediately relaxed, and pulled back the menacing aura. He hugged him into his arms, and said softly, “When did you find out?”
“Beach, it fell out of your coat.”
Sure enough, he guessed right. Lu Yunye took a deep breath, “So you held back your temper and locked yourself in the room. What if you get sick, no one will find out.”
“If I didn’t look for you that night, did you plan to sleep on the ground?”
Shi Yi was stunned, he didn’t expect Lu Yunye to be angry about this. He felt that he was sick now – his body instinctively wanted to wrap around Lu Yunye’s always fiery embrace. Just a hug would warm him up, and he couldn’t help drawing closer to the heat.
He unconsciously put his arms around Lu Yunye’s neck, felt the muscles under his body tense, and pressed against his ear and asked, “Then do you like me or Little Peach?”
Lu Yunye took out the jade pendant from his pocket and tied it around Shi Yi’s neck.
Shi Yi watched as he fiddled with it stupidly. If it wasn’t for Lu Yunye, he wouldn’t have remembered that he had such a thing. But the jade pendant should have been broken a long time ago, so why is it still intact?
Lu Yunye didn’t leave him much time to think, and pressed against his forehead: “I liked Little Peach because he is always cheerful, like a little sun, and he won’t dislike the me who was weak and useless at that time. But I like you, because you are calm, kind and tolerant, tenacious like bamboo…”
“I fell in love with you twice, and I will fall in love with you countless times. No matter who you become, I will like you. Do you understand?”
“I didn’t say I was Little Pinecone, because I was afraid of putting pressure on you. I didn’t want you to look to the past when making decisions, but…”
“But I’m worthless, I can’t bear to lose you again.” Lu Yunye’s voice was a little hoarse. “So don’t leave me again, okay?”
One word after another fell against his ears like drizzling rain, making Shi Yi confused. It turned out that Lu Yunye, who seemed like an impregnable wall, would think about so much, and feel anxious, worrying about gains and losses, because of this.
He used to think that there was no one to rely on except himself, but he never thought that he was firmly chosen by someone many, many years ago.
Shi Yi confidently and boldly buried himself in that fiery embrace, and carefully handed himself over: “Lu Yunye, are you willing to mark me completely?”
