Chapter 28.1
As soon as he entered the house, Chi Suinian realized something.
Damn… He could have just gone to a hotel instead of dealing with this stupid broken door. Why did he act like an idiot and beg Lu Zhiyue to open the door?
And to top it off, he even kissed Lu Zhiyue on his own initiative.
“……”
Damn it. Just thinking about what happened earlier made Chi Suinian want to die from embarrassment.
…The Feng Shui of the Lu family’s house must be terrible. He had only moved in for a short time, yet he was already losing his mind.
Ignoring Lu Zhiyue behind him, Chi Suinian went straight upstairs to rest.
But as soon as he reached the top of the stairs, he saw the second-floor hallway in complete chaos. The floor was cluttered with random items.
Uncle Zhang was anxiously directing people, having them move things out of the guest room. The scene was utter mayhem.
No wonder no one answered the door downstairs—they were all busy on the second floor.
“Young Master Chi is back.” In the middle of the commotion, Uncle Zhang noticed him, stepping around the mess to come over. “The hallway is a mess. Be careful not to trip.”
“What are you guys doing?” Chi Suinian glanced at the guest room.
“The wind was strong today. It broke a ginkgo tree in the yard, and the trunk crashed into the guest room’s balcony, shattering the floor-to-ceiling windows.” Uncle Zhang sighed. “Sigh, the rain got in, flooding the entire room.”
There were wet footprints all over the hallway. The situation in the guest room was even worse than Uncle Zhang had described. A thick tree trunk had crashed through the middle of the balcony, railing pieces had collapsed, and the glass door leading to the balcony was completely shattered. Several cleaners were working on the soaked carpet.
“How bad is it?” Lu Zhiyue arrived on the second floor at some point, frowning as he surveyed the scene.
He had clearly been informed beforehand—his expression held no surprise.
Uncle Zhang shook his head with a sigh. “The damage is severe. The room is unlivable and needs a complete renovation. Sir, you should move back to the master bedroom for now.”
Chi Suinian, who had been watching from the sidelines, turned his head: “???”
Move back where?
Lu Zhiyue turned to look at him. “Is that okay?”
Hell no.
Chi Suinian frowned, leaning against the master bedroom door. “No way. There are plenty of rooms in this house, but you insist on moving into mine?”
Lu Zhiyue replied, “There are only two bedrooms in the house.”
Bullshit.
A three-story villa with a basement, a garage, front and back gardens—and you’re telling me there are only two bedrooms? Who do you think you’re fooling?
“I’m not lying.” Lu Zhiyue seemed to understand his skeptical expression and explained, “When we got married, you said you didn’t like people staying over, so only two bedrooms were set up.”
Chi Suinian froze. That actually did sound like something he would say. He liked to have fun outside, but he preferred peace and quiet at home, never letting friends stay over. The later the night, the more he enjoyed being alone.
And yet, he had even brought this habit into the Lu household.
What was even stranger was that Lu Zhiyue had actually gone along with his demand of not setting up a guest room. Such a big villa, and they couldn’t even host a late-night party.
Who would believe it?
Chi Suinian sneered, “Well, I still say no. Figure something else out.”
The moment he finished speaking, he hesitated.
After all, this was Lu Zhiyue’s house. He was just crashing here—who was he to make decisions about the owner’s living arrangements?
Now that the guest room was destroyed, either he or Lu Zhiyue had to move out. Chi Suinian didn’t like this place anyway, so this was a good opportunity to draw a clear line between them.
“I’ll move out,” Chi Suinian said.
“No,” Lu Zhiyue responded. “We agreed when signing the contract that we’d live together.”
“Then you move to another room.”
“Can’t. The other rooms are too small to fit a proper bed.”
Chi Suinian glared. “Then why don’t you sleep on a smaller bed?”
Lu Zhiyue: “Small beds are uncomfortable.”
“……”
This isn’t okay, that isn’t okay—why was Lu Zhiyue so damn picky?
Chi Suinian was about to curse when Lu Zhiyue suddenly said, “Are you afraid of sharing a room with me?”
His tone lifted slightly at the end, carrying a teasing lilt.
Chi Suinian let out a cold scoff. “Afraid? Don’t flatter yourself.”
Lu Zhiyue nodded slightly, then turned to Uncle Zhang. “Alright, move my things in.”
Chi Suinian: ?
Move into where?
Uncle Zhang quickly directed people to carry in all of Lu Zhiyue’s furniture and belongings. When the master bedroom door was opened, Chi Suinian was still dazed.
When had he ever agreed to this?
“What, regretting it now?” Lu Zhiyue laughed softly beside him.
So damn punchable.
Chi Suinian instinctively retorted, “Me? Regret? You’ll be waiting for that in your next life.”
“Mhm.” Lu Zhiyue’s smile widened imperceptibly. “I thought so too. Young Master Chi always keeps his word—he wouldn’t go back on it.”
Chi Suinian: “……”
·
The master bedroom was busy with people, led by Uncle Zhang, rearranging the room, adding furniture, changing the bedding, and moving in Lu Zhiyue’s extensive and exorbitantly expensive suit collection.
The master bedroom was spacious, with a large walk-in closet. Chi Suinian didn’t have many clothes or accessories, so most of the cabinets were empty. The moment Lu Zhiyue’s clothes moved in, the closet was instantly packed.
Chi Suinian sat on a small couch by the balcony, glaring.
How had things escalated to this point?
Was he seriously about to live together with Lu Zhiyue?
Sharing the same roof was already testing his limits—now they were supposed to share a bed too?
Just thinking about it made Chi Suinian’s skin crawl. With Lu Zhiyue lying right next to him at night, he’d never be able to sleep.
“You don’t like my clothes?” Lu Zhiyue asked as he walked out of the closet, meeting Chi Suinian’s gaze.
Chi Suinian looked away. “What does that have to do with me?” They weren’t his clothes.
Lu Zhiyue smirked. “You’re glaring at them pretty fiercely.”
“I glare at you even fiercer.” Chi Suinian said coldly. “What do you think that means?”
Lu Zhiyue replied smoothly, “The deeper the love, the deeper the hate.”
“……”
Screw you.
·
After dinner, Chi Suinian took off his shoes and curled up on the living room sofa, playing games.
He didn’t want to go upstairs. After finishing his meal, Lu Zhiyue had gone up to take a shower. Chi Suinian didn’t want to go back to the room and just sit there staring at him, so he decided to stay downstairs for a while.
“I’ve got people here, footsteps are pretty dense,” Tang Jin said.
Chi Suinian wasn’t wearing headphones, so the game’s sound effects were completely out in the open.
“Got it,” Chi Suinian replied expressionlessly. “Stay hidden, don’t move.”
He carried his gun and ran toward Tang Jin’s location. Gunfire rang out from upstairs and downstairs, and several kill notifications flashed across the screen.
Lu Heng clicked his tongue. “What got into you? You’re unusually aggressive today.”
Chi Suinian responded, “When am I not?”
“That’s true.”
Chi Suinian was always ruthless when playing games, highly aggressive, always leading the charge. Playing with him was exhilarating.
“Hey, hey, there are people at both these spots. I marked them—damn, I’m getting shot at!” Tang Jin yelled, “Shit, are we getting surrounded?”
Chi Suinian controlled his character, running towards a house while picking up two weapons. “Not a chance. Their encirclement is weak, it’ll break sooner or later.”
“Haha, Brother Nian, you’re so badass,” a slightly unfamiliar voice chimed in.
It took Chi Suinian a moment to remember that there were others in the squad.
In PUBG, teams are formed with four players. When they started the game, none of the usual rich-kid crew were online, so Tang Jin randomly invited someone from his friend list. Coincidentally, Xu Qing was online, so they teamed up.
Chi Suinian had a decent impression of this guy—when he had just been discharged from the hospital, he had even attended Xu Qing’s birthday party.
“Brother Nian, I have an extended quickdraw mag for an assault rifle. Want it?” Xu Qing asked.
An extended quickdraw mag increases both reload speed and bullet capacity—definitely a good item.
Chi Suinian glanced at the map and saw that he was quite far from Xu Qing. Too lazy to run over, he said, “Nah, you keep it.”
“I suck at using it. It’s better if you take it,” Xu Qing insisted. “I’ll come to you.”
Chi Suinian: “No need.”
Xu Qing: “It’s fine. I’m not good at the game anyway, I’ll just be the supply guy for you guys. Brother Nian, I’m heading your way.”
Chi Suinian glanced at the moving marker on the map, his lips moving slightly, but he didn’t say anything in the end.
After finishing his shower, Lu Zhiyue came out to find the room empty—Chi Suinian still hadn’t returned.
Wearing a bathrobe, he went downstairs and saw Chi Suinian still lying on the sofa, his long, straight legs slightly bent. His feet were pale.
“Nice! Brother Nian, you’re amazing! I watch a lot of game streams, but even those streamers don’t play as well as you.”
Lu Zhiyue had been smiling, but the moment he heard that voice, his expression froze. His smile stiffened, and his brows furrowed.
“Right?” Lu Heng chuckled. “That’s why we love playing with him—it’s exhilarating.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Xu Qing chimed in. “Brother Nian, can I join next time if there’s an open spot? I’m always available.”
Chi Suinian was focused on shooting enemies, and Xu Qing’s talking nearly made him miss the sound of approaching footsteps.
He casually tossed out a noncommittal response, “We’ll see next time.”
Xu Qing: “Alright! Let’s add each other as friends. I just sent a request—Brother Nian, accept it when you have time.”
Just as Chi Suinian was about to reply, the sofa beside him suddenly sank. A fresh, slightly damp scent of shower gel filled the air.
He was too familiar with this scent. Having lived in the master bedroom for over a month, he used it every day.
Chi Suinian didn’t know what kind of nonsense Lu Zhiyue was about to pull this time. Sitting this close, he pulled his legs up, sat upright, and hugged a pillow while leaning to the other side.
“There’s an airdrop right in front of us. No one’s around—who’s going to take it?”
Tang Jin said, “I’m too far away. Suinian, check if it’s an AWM. If it is, grab it for me.”
Chi Suinian lazily replied, “Not happening. If there really is an AWM, do you think I’d give it to you?”
Tang Jin: “Damn, are we even bros? You won’t even share a gun?”
Chi Suinian: “There are no friends on the battlefield. If you were my enemy, I’d shoot you without hesitation.”
Tang Jin went silent.
Lu Heng glanced at his gear and said, “I don’t need it. My current gun works fine. Xu Qing, you can grab it.”
Xu Qing, still running toward Chi Suinian, said, “I see the red smoke. I’m close—I’ll check it out.”
A moment later, he happily announced, “It really is an AWM! Such a great gun. Brother Nian, do you want it? I can bring it over.”
Before Chi Suinian could respond, Tang Jin interjected, “Xu Qing, I invited you to the team, so obviously, the good guns should go to me.”
His tone sounded playful. Xu Qing laughed and said, “True, but I want to build connections too. Next time I find a good gun, I’ll save it for you. Brother Nian, I’m coming over.”
Just as Chi Suinian was about to decline, the air beside him suddenly grew heavier—the scent of shower gel got even closer.
He leaned back, increasing the distance, and instinctively muted his in-game microphone.
He was worried that Lu Zhiyue would say something absurd again.
The last time he had played in his room, this guy had messed with him.
“I want to play too. Will you take me?” Lu Zhiyue asked.
Chi Suinian didn’t even think before replying, “No.”
Lu Zhiyue: “Why not?”
Chi Suinian frowned. “Do I need a reason? I don’t want to, I don’t like playing with you, and I find you annoying. Are those reasons enough?”
Lu Zhiyue propped his chin on his hand and stared at the colorful screen. “But you like playing with him?”
Chi Suinian was confused. “Who?”
“That green tea.”
Chi Suinian: “…?”
What green tea?
Lu Zhiyue motioned toward the screen. “Number three.”
Chi Suinian glanced at the ID and realized it was Xu Qing, who had been randomly invited.
Xu Qing is green tea?
Chi Suinian was well-versed in internet slang, but he didn’t get what Lu Zhiyue meant.
Chi Suinian lifted his eyes. “What did he do to you?”
Lu Zhiyue frowned, his gaze seriously locked on the screen, as if he were glaring at someone.
“He wants to cuckold me and also seduce you.”
Chi Suinian: “…”
This was the first time he’d heard someone explain it like that.
“Did your company go bankrupt or something? How do you have so much free time?” Chi Suinian said irritably. “Don’t bother me.”
“Suinian, Suinian?” Tang Jin called out in the game, “Why aren’t you moving? Did you disconnect?”
“No, I just saw him move a second ago,” Xu Qing said.
Lu Heng asked, “You’re with him?”
“Yeah.” Xu Qing chuckled. “I was delivering supplies to Brother Nian. He probably got busy and didn’t have time to pick them up yet.”
Chi Suinian was about to unmute and reply but then remembered the person beside him and his past antics. He turned to glare at him. “When I’m playing games, you’re not allowed to talk. Got it?”
Lu Zhiyue nodded with a smile.
Smile, smile, smile—why don’t you just laugh yourself to death?
Chi Suinian unmuted. “The safe zone is a bit far. Let’s go.”
Tang Jin asked, “Where did you go just now?”
Of course, Chi Suinian couldn’t say that Lu Zhiyue was sitting next to him, redefining ‘green tea’ for him. So he casually replied, “Went to the bathroom.”
As soon as he said it, he noticed the person beside him pause, his gaze slowly lowering before stopping at a certain spot.
Chi Suinian scowled and shifted his legs to block his view. “What are you looking at?”
Lu Zhiyue: “You look good.”
Chi Suinian was about to mock him—”Have you even seen it?”—but then he recalled that drunken night a few days ago. Who knew, maybe Lu Zhiyue really had seen it.
He knew he wouldn’t win this conversation, so he shut his mouth.
“Brother Nian, are you not taking the gear?” Xu Qing called through the headset. “I even carried an AWM all the way over.”
“Not taking it.” Chi Suinian was already fuming—he wasn’t in the mood to play anymore.
Lu Zhiyue’s gaze lightly drifted back to the screen.
Chi Suinian controlled his character, moving further and further away from the marker for Player 3, leaving Xu Qing—the little green tea—far behind.
Lu Zhiyue chuckled softly.
For the rest of the match, Chi Suinian played aggressively, charging straight into gunfire like a madman, venting all his anger on the battlefield.
“Holy shit.” Tang Jin listened to the constant gunfire, his heart racing. “Do you have to be this intense? You’re basically one shot away from dying! What happened? You got pissed off just from going to the bathroom?”
Chi Suinian stayed silent. After wiping out the entire match, he won the game.
“Nice!” Tang Jin asked, “Wanna play another?”
“No,” Chi Suinian replied. “I’m tired.”
“Fair enough, we’ve been playing for hours. Time for a break. Let’s play again next time,” Tang Jin said.
Chi Suinian silently closed the game.
“Wait, Brother Nian, let’s add each other as friends.”
The moment Xu Qing said that, Chi Suinian saw the person beside him turn his head. He didn’t even have to look—he just knew Lu Zhiyue was staring at his phone.
After a brief silence, Chi Suinian curled his lips. “Sure, add me.”
Xu Qing’s voice brightened. “Great! I’ll send a request now.”
A few seconds later, a notification popped up on Chi Suinian’s screen: [Gentle Breeze] requests to add you as a friend.
Just as Chi Suinian was about to tap ‘accept,’ he heard Lu Zhiyue’s cool voice. “You’re really going to add him?”
Chi Suinian quickly muted his mic, frowning. “What does this have to do with you?”
“Read the agreement properly—we agreed not to interfere in each other’s personal matters. Mind your own business.”
Lu Zhiyue grabbed his wrist. “That guy’s a green tea.”
Chi Suinian smirked. “I like drinking green tea. What, you gonna bite me?”
He was just saying it offhandedly, just to piss Lu Zhiyue off. After all, who actually went around biting people like some childish brat?
But before he could finish his sentence, a faint scent enveloped him.
Lu Zhiyue leaned in, resting a hand on his shoulder. Then, he lowered his head and bit his lips—lightly, but firmly. A warning.
“If you add him, I’ll bite you.”
A tingly, wet sensation spread across his lips.
For a moment, Chi Suinian didn’t know how to react. It took him a few seconds to process what had just happened. Then, he threw his phone aside and grabbed Lu Zhiyue by the collar. “You fucking—”
He wanted to drag him over and teach him a lesson, but as soon as he pulled, Lu Zhiyue’s bathrobe slipped open.
The white fabric fell away, exposing his toned, honey-colored chest. A faint bite mark was visible on his collarbone.
For some reason, Chi Suinian suddenly felt that this whole situation was getting… too hot to handle.
“You… What are you doing?!” He asked, flustered.
Lu Zhiyue sat up straight, his expression calm. “This is your punishment for trying to add another man.”
Punish your grandpa!
And besides, he and Xu Qing were barely acquaintances. They weren’t even friends. They had just teamed up for a game—how the hell did that count as ‘another man’?!
Chi Suinian had never been treated like this before. His lips tingled, and his ears burned red. “Did I even add him?!”
Lu Zhiyue looked innocent. “You said you would.”
Chi Suinian was so angry he couldn’t even speak. His lips still felt weird.
He rubbed them hard, making them red and hot. Still unsatisfied, he kicked Lu Zhiyue. “Get lost!”
He didn’t hold back, but Lu Zhiyue didn’t seem to care. Instead, he grabbed Chi Suinian’s hand. “Stop rubbing, you’re making it worse.”
“You’ve got some nerve to say that!” Chi Suinian gritted his teeth. “Lu Zhiyue, do you even have any shame?!”
“You’re my husband,” Lu Zhiyue said casually. “Kissing and hugging is just part of our duties as a couple. How is that shameless?”
“Spit! This stupid contract marriage means nothing!” Chi Suinian snapped.
Lu Zhiyue was unfazed. “A contract marriage is still a marriage. I still have our marriage certificate. As long as it exists, so does our relationship.”
Chi Suinian was so furious he couldn’t even argue.
“Alright, stop being mad.” Lu Zhiyue brushed his fingers against Chi Suinian’s face. “Go upstairs and rest. It’s almost midnight.”
“Fuck off.” Chi Suinian curled up on the couch, facing away from him. He was basically a ball of grumpy rage.
“The couch is too hard. You won’t sleep well. Just go to bed.” Lu Zhiyue looked at his back.
Chi Suinian didn’t move. The place where he had been bitten still burned annoyingly.
Lu Zhiyue waited a while before speaking again. “Or do you want me to carry you up?”
“You dare?” Chi Suinian finally spoke.
Lu Zhiyue sighed. “Why won’t you go to bed?”
Chi Suinian, still facing away, muttered, “I get annoyed just looking at you. Go sleep somewhere else. Stop bothering me.”
“What are you afraid of?” Lu Zhiyue chuckled. “You’re still recovering—I won’t touch you. No need to be so defensive.”
“I’m not afraid of you! Who the hell do you think you are?!” Chi Suinian sat up angrily. “If I hadn’t been drunk last time, who was on top of who is still up for debate! You think I’d be scared of you? Not in this lifetime!”
“Oh?” Lu Zhiyue raised a brow, smirking. “Then why don’t you try?”
Chi Suinian hated being provoked. With a dark expression, he stood up. “Fine. Upstairs.”
