Chapter 28.2
The bedroom door closed.
Chi Suinian stood by the door, feeling a bit dazed.
Things were getting out of control.
His original plan was to drift apart from Lu Zhiyue until they had nothing to do with each other. Who would have thought that instead, they’d end up in bed?
For the second time.
And he was the one who suggested it.
Damn…
“What? Are you scared?” Lu Zhiyue raised an eyebrow, seeing him frozen at the door.
“Scared my ass.” Chi Suinian forced himself to walk to the bed, staring at the blue sheets, feeling like there was no turning back.
“What position do you like? Bed or bathroom?” Lu Zhiyue continued, “Or do you want me to wear something special?”
Chi Suinian was shocked: “The hell…?” How was this guy so shameless?!
He averted his gaze, feeling awkward. “Just lie down and don’t move.”
“No need to take off clothes?”
“Shut up!”
Lu Zhiyue finally quieted down. He lay on the bed in his bathrobe, propping his head up with one hand, watching Chi Suinian with amusement.
Chi Suinian was stubborn. He refused to back out, even if it killed him. Keeping his neck stiff, he climbed onto the bed and knelt beside Lu Zhiyue.
Then… he froze.
Where the hell was he supposed to start?!
Chi Suinian liked men, but he had never dated anyone, let alone liked someone. His knowledge about what to do in bed was shallow at best. The only experience he had was the drunken night with Lu Zhiyue.
That night, he was so drunk he couldn’t remember anything.
Lu Zhiyue watched him and smirked. “Why aren’t you moving?”
“None of your damn business when I start. What, are you that desperate?” Chi Suinian frowned, thinking for a moment before reaching out to turn off the light.
Lu Zhiyue: “Why’d you turn off the light?”
“I just like doing it in the dark.”
Lu Zhiyue chuckled softly. “Oh? Alright then, your call.”
Like hell it was funny.
With the lights off, the room was pitch black. Only faint moonlight seeped through the window, outlining Lu Zhiyue’s silhouette.
Once the eyes adjusted to the darkness, some things were still visible—Lu Zhiyue’s white bathrobe, his dark, bright eyes, and the exposed skin on his chest…
Stop!
Chi Suinian shut his eyes. He was about to give up. If this continued, he wouldn’t just lose face—he’d lose his dignity too.
That night, even though he was drunk, the marks on his body and the soreness afterward told him one thing—Lu Zhiyue was ruthless. If Lu Zhiyue found out he was still a virgin, he’d definitely laugh his ass off.
“Need help?” Lu Zhiyue asked knowingly in the dark, his voice soft.
“No need. Shut up.”
Lu Zhiyue chuckled. “Then how long do I have to wait? Did you rely on sheer willpower to do it before?”
“…”
Chi Suinian’s guilty conscience flared. He snapped, pouncing on Lu Zhiyue.
Screw it, it’s just sex. Men are born knowing how to do this.
Tonight, he was going to make Lu Zhiyue suffer.
“You’re not taking off your clothes?” Lu Zhiyue touched his fully dressed body and asked softly.
“Shut up. I like doing it with clothes on. Don’t like it? Then get lost.”
“Alright, whatever you want.” Lu Zhiyue spread his hands, as if surrendering to him.
“…”
Chi Suinian’s expression darkened as he reached to pull open Lu Zhiyue’s bathrobe. The loosely tied belt came undone with a light touch. His hand accidentally pressed against Lu Zhiyue’s firm abdomen, feeling the tight muscles.
“Like it?” Lu Zhiyue’s voice was laced with amusement.
“Nothing special. You’re just a scrawny pretty boy.” Chi Suinian didn’t pull his hand back too quickly, worried Lu Zhiyue would notice his hesitation. Instead, he ran his palm over it with a look of disdain. “Not impressive at all.”
Lu Zhiyue’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his voice slightly hoarse. “Are we doing this or not? Hurry up.”
Chi Suinian sensed something, his face heating up. He pulled his hand back. “What’s the rush? If you’re that desperate, do it yourself.”
Saying that, he was ready to call it quits. But just as he turned to leave, a pair of strong arms wrapped around him, pressing warm skin against his.
“You’re just going to leave after getting me like this? Where’s your conscience?”
Chi Suinian’s back stiffened. He gritted his teeth. “Let go!”
After fumbling in the dark for so long, neither of them was unaffected. Even Chi Suinian was starting to feel restless, his breathing turning hot. He struggled to free himself.
“Where are you going?” Lu Zhiyue’s voice was close to his ear, his breath sending heat down Chi Suinian’s skin.
Chi Suinian shifted uncomfortably, clenching his jaw. “I don’t have time to mess around with you. If you don’t want to lose a limb, let me go.”
He was glad the lights were off. If Lu Zhiyue saw his reaction, he’d never live it down.
“No one jumps ship midway,” Lu Zhiyue murmured. “Not allowed.”
“You motherf—”
Before he could finish, he was pulled in. Their heated bodies pressed together. Lu Zhiyue’s grip on Chi Suinian’s waist tightened as he leaned in. He seemed to notice something.
“You’re hard?”
Chi Suinian exploded instantly. “Get off me!”
Lu Zhiyue held onto the furious Chi Suinian, dropped a kiss on his neck, and guided his hand down. “Let me help you.”
…
…
…
It was raining outside, droplets tapping against the balcony glass. The heavy humidity couldn’t dispel the lingering heat inside the room.
Chi Suinian lay limp on the bed, his limbs aching, feeling so stiff he wished he were dead.
The bed shifted slightly, and Lu Zhiyue turned on the light.
Chi Suinian instinctively closed his eyes, but the brightness still pricked at them uncomfortably. He frowned slightly.
“Are you feeling unwell?” Lu Zhiyue asked from beside him.
Chi Suinian kept his eyes shut, unwilling to respond. If he were actually sick, he could use it as an excuse to pick a fight.
But unfortunately, that earlier round had left him feeling completely weak and lazy—so relaxed he didn’t even want to move.
Then, a cool hand touched his forehead. Chi Suinian squinted his eyes and brushed the hand away.
What was the point of checking his temperature?
Even if they had really gone all the way, a fever wouldn’t come this quickly.
Idiot.
Chi Suinian turned over, lost in thought. His current relationship with Lu Zhiyue was complicated and awkward—not quite like a married couple, yet not exactly a fake marriage either. If anything, it felt more like…
A bed partner arrangement.
Damn it.
Chi Suinian quickly corrected himself in his mind. They hadn’t actually gone all the way, so at best, they were just helpful sleeping companions.
Once the agreement ended, they should part ways and never see each other again. That would be for the best.
“Do you want a bath?” Lu Zhiyue asked. “I can run the water for you.”
Chi Suinian pulled the blanket over his head. “No.”
Lu Zhiyue chuckled and pressed the blanket down to Chi Suinian’s chin. “Are you trying to suffocate yourself?”
“Leave me alone.” Chi Suinian pulled the blanket back up, but the tips of his ears turned red in an instant.
Seeing that he was fine, Lu Zhiyue didn’t push further. He stripped off his clothes and entered the bathroom, staying inside for a long time.
Chi Suinian lay under the blanket for too long, and a thin layer of sweat formed on his forehead. He tossed off a corner and saw the bathrobe casually thrown beside the bed. In the distance, the walk-in closet was still filled with hanging clothes.
Staring at the closet for a while, Chi Suinian suddenly realized something.
Lu Zhiyue had officially moved back into the master bedroom. And before bed, they had even brushed up against each other.
Wasn’t this two out of the three conditions Lu Zhiyue mentioned last night?!
And he had unknowingly complied with them?
What a loss.
Chi Suinian thought.
A huge loss.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. Frustrated, he stretched out his leg and kicked the bathrobe off the edge of the bed.
By the time Lu Zhiyue came out of the shower, Chi Suinian was already fast asleep, wrapped tightly in the blanket. His clothes were rumpled, exposing a sliver of his lean yet resilient waistline.
Lu Zhiyue didn’t deliberately lower his movements, but the person on the bed remained undisturbed.
Turning off the light, Lu Zhiyue climbed into bed, gazing at the outline of the person beside him for a while before finally closing his eyes in exhaustion.
—
The next morning, Chi Suinian woke up early. The sound of raindrops pattering against the balcony glass woke him, and as soon as he stirred, he felt a tight sensation around his body.
Drowsily opening his eyes, he took a glance at himself—only to jolt awake in shock.
—He was lying in Lu Zhiyue’s arms, his head resting on the man’s arm.
No wonder his pillow felt so hard last night.
Without hesitation, Chi Suinian rolled back, escaping Lu Zhiyue’s arm.
“You’re awake?” Unexpectedly, the moment he moved, Lu Zhiyue woke up as well. His voice was still hoarse from sleep. “Morning.”
Morning, my ass.
Chi Suinian thought with a scowl.
Unwilling to stay in the same room as Lu Zhiyue, he quickly washed up in a daze and went downstairs.
Aunt Chen called him for breakfast, but he listlessly declined and slumped on the sofa to call Lu Heng.
“Do you have any plans for today?”
“What, getting bored at home?” Lu Heng teased.
“Mm.” Chi Suinian responded. In truth, he wasn’t bored—he just didn’t want to stay at the Lu house. “Got anything fun?”
“Yeah, but I’m not sure you’ll like it.” Lu Heng said over the phone. “A friend of mine is having a grand opening for his mountain resort. He invited me over for some food, drinks, and fun. The resort is in the countryside—mountains, rivers, homemade wine, horseback riding. Interested?”
To be honest, it had been a long time since Chi Suinian had done anything this wholesome. Stretching lazily, he said, “Send me the address.”
“Alright, see you at the resort then.” Lu Heng suddenly remembered something. “It’s hard to get a taxi from where you are. Want me to pick you up?”
“No need.” Chi Suinian grabbed his keys from the drawer. “I’ll drive myself.”
“You’re so weak. Can you handle such a long drive?”
Chi Suinian sneered, “How about we fight when we meet, and you’ll see for yourself?”
“No thanks,” Lu Heng quickly surrendered. “Alright then, I’ll send you the address. Let’s stay there for a couple of days, treat it as a break.”
“Mm.”
After hanging up, Chi Suinian went upstairs to pack. He only brought two sets of clothes and shoes, not even filling half of his small suitcase. The other half remained empty.
His mild OCD kicked in. As he stroked his chin, wondering what else to pack, Lu Zhiyue suddenly walked out of the bathroom, his hair and body still dripping wet.
Chi Suinian thought Lu Zhiyue was insane—who the hell showers three times a day?
He withdrew his gaze indifferently, picked up his suitcase, and walked toward the door. Just as he was about to leave, he heard Lu Zhiyue ask, “Where are you going?”
Chi Suinian didn’t want to answer, but for some reason, Lu Zhiyue was oddly persistent about this. He pressed down on the suitcase, not letting him go.
“Heh…” Chi Suinian let out a mocking laugh. “Mr. Lu, can you stop clinging to me like a leech?”
Water trickled down from Lu Zhiyue’s hair, following the sharp contours of his face. His dark eyes were so bright that Chi Suinian could see his own reflection in them.
“We live together. Shouldn’t you at least tell me when you’re going out?” Lu Zhiyue said.
“Oh.” Chi Suinian raised an eyebrow. “I’m going out. Happy now? Let go.”
He tugged at his suitcase, but it wouldn’t budge, as if it were glued to the floor.
He was so angry that he laughed. Just as he was about to say “Forget it, I don’t need it,” his phone suddenly rang in his pocket.
It was an unfamiliar number. After a brief hesitation, he answered.
Lately, there had been a lot going on at the company, and he was worried that something had gone wrong again.
“Hello?”
“Brother Nian!” A cheerful male voice came from the other end. “I heard you’re going to the resort too. That’s great! What a coincidence—I’m going too! We can team up when we get there.”
The voice was loud and full of excitement, and Lu Zhiyue, standing nearby, heard everything clearly. His brows instantly furrowed.
“Got it. We’ll talk when we get there.” Chi Suinian hung up, grabbed his suitcase, and turned to leave.
But then, Lu Zhiyue suddenly said, “I’m going too.”
Chi Suinian froze: ???
What about your big company?!
