Do it… myself?!
Xiao Cheng was stunned, unable to believe what he had just heard.
Luo Jingshu, however, seemed to have thought of a great idea. Instead of rushing, he slowed down and looked at Xiao Cheng with a leisurely expression.
“Come on.”
Xiao Cheng gripped the bedsheet tightly. “I…”
Was Luo Jingshu crazy?
It was Luo Jingshu who wanted to hear it, and Xiao Cheng had done as he was told. Yet, in the end, it was Xiao Cheng who ended up suffering.
From the expression on Luo Jingshu’s face, Xiao Cheng could tell that the other man was serious. He couldn’t help but cover his forehead.
“My head is spinning.”
Xiao Cheng pretended to be unwell while secretly peeking at Luo Jingshu’s reaction through the gaps between his fingers. Unexpectedly, he met Luo Jingshu’s gaze directly.
He quickly covered his eyes with more force. “I can’t do it. I have no strength left in my body.”
Luo Jingshu sat on his lap, quietly watching him act.
Xiao Cheng also felt that acting like this was a bit embarrassing, but he really didn’t want to agree to Luo Jingshu’s request.
“Do it myself”? He had already reluctantly agreed to be the shou. How could he possibly take the initiative to offer himself up like that!
A faint smile tugged at the corner of Luo Jingshu’s lips. “Brother Cheng, are you really feeling unwell?”
Xiao Cheng quickly nodded. In his excitement, a faint blush spread across his face, making him look a bit more energetic than before, less pale and haggard.
Luo Jingshu had no intention of actually doing anything to him tonight, especially since Xiao Cheng was still feeling unwell. He had been frightened earlier, and Luo Jingshu didn’t want to push him further.
He rolled off Xiao Cheng and lay down beside him, patting his shoulder gently. “Brother Cheng, go to sleep.”
That’s it? Just like that?
Xiao Cheng couldn’t believe it. Had he really been let off so easily?
Luo Jingshu had seemed so determined earlier, as if he wouldn’t stop until Xiao Cheng couldn’t get out of bed. Xiao Cheng had thought he was about to be done again.
But now… this?
It wasn’t that he wanted something to happen, but the turn of events was so absurd that Xiao Cheng couldn’t bring himself to believe it.
Did Luo Jingshu really not plan to do anything?
Xiao Cheng couldn’t help but reach out and pinch Luo Jingshu’s shoulder. “Are you serious?”
Luo Jingshu remained silent for a while before draping an arm over Xiao Cheng’s waist. “Are you disappointed?”
Wait, did Xiao Cheng actually want it?
Xiao Cheng’s face immediately turned red. He realized that his earlier reaction might have come off as disappointment, even though that wasn’t what he had been thinking at all. It gave off the impression that he had been eagerly anticipating something.
Flustered and embarrassed, Xiao Cheng pushed Luo Jingshu’s arm away. “Don’t touch me. I’m going to sleep.”
He closed his eyes, pretending to sleep. But before he knew it, he had actually dozed off.
In the middle of the night, Xiao Cheng started to feel feverish.
Luo Jingshu, who had been sleeping lightly, woke up almost immediately when he heard Xiao Cheng’s faint whimpers.
He reached out to feel Xiao Cheng’s forehead. The heat radiating from it was alarming. Luo Jingshu quickly sat up, turned on the light, and carefully observed Xiao Cheng’s condition.
Xiao Cheng’s eyes were tightly shut, his forehead damp with sweat, but his cheeks were flushed an unnatural red. He was whimpering softly.
Luo Jingshu hurriedly called for the doctor on duty and then checked on Xiao Cheng again.
Xiao Cheng woke up briefly, still not fully conscious. His hazy eyes darted around the room, searching for Luo Jingshu among the people gathered.
When he finally saw him, Xiao Cheng relaxed and gently grasped Luo Jingshu’s fingers.
Luo Jingshu’s eyes reddened at this unconscious gesture. He held Xiao Cheng’s hand tightly and whispered soothingly, “Brother Cheng, don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Xiao Cheng seemed to understand his words, or perhaps he simply knew that the person he loved was by his side. He finally relaxed completely, letting out a lazy hum from his nose. “Mmm.”
Luo Jingshu had always doubted whether Xiao Cheng truly loved him. After they got back together, Xiao Cheng had been lukewarm toward him, as if Luo Jingshu were nothing more than an optional presence in his life.
But now, he understood.
Xiao Cheng had been hurt before, so he didn’t dare to express his feelings openly.
Yet, every one of his reactions told Luo Jingshu the truth.
He loved him.
Luo Jingshu patted Xiao Cheng’s chest gently, as if soothing a child. It took a while, but Xiao Cheng eventually fell asleep again, though not peacefully. His brows were still furrowed.
Bai Yiheng had already left, but he had left two bodyguards outside the hospital room. While Luo Jingshu was comforting Xiao Cheng, the bodyguards were outside talking to the doctor.
After Xiao Cheng fell asleep, Luo Jingshu stepped out of the room.
“Mr. Luo.”
The bodyguards informed him that the earlier test results had come back. The amount of drugs Xiao Cheng had inhaled was minimal, and the fever was a normal reaction. He will be fine after tonight.
Luo Jingshu listened quietly, then said coldly, “Thank you. I appreciate your hard work.”
“It’s no trouble. It’s our duty.”
Luo Jingshu returned to the room, but he couldn’t sleep anymore.
His hatred for Jiang Ying deepened. He had originally planned to let Jiang Ying continue his antics for a few more days, but Jiang Ying had brought this upon himself.
Luo Jingshu stayed by Xiao Cheng’s side, looking down at his phone screen. Messages from another person kept popping up.
[Fu Ju: Is Xiao Cheng okay?]
[Fu Ju: Are you sure you want to do this?]
They had originally agreed to strike Jiang Ying at the most opportune moment, ensuring he would never be able to fight back. But now, although it was still possible, it felt too rushed. If Jiang Ying caught wind of it beforehand, he might come up with a countermeasure.
[Fu Ju: He’s on good terms with them right now, and he has two major projects in hand. You said the documents haven’t been issued yet. Isn’t it too early?]
Fu Ju didn’t doubt Luo Jingshu, after all, this person always knew many unknown secrets.
What he feared was that Jiang Ying would catch wind of it and retreat early, leaving them with nothing to show for their efforts.
Luo Jingshu read through the message quietly before replying: “He won’t escape. He’ll never get away.”
He knew exactly how Jiang Ying would respond, even what methods he would use to try and flee.
Jiang Ying couldn’t escape before, and against Luo Jingshu who was reborn with all this knowledge, he had no chance.
Luo Jingshu was determined to make him pay with his life.
The next day, Xiao Cheng felt better, even his complexion had returned to its usual healthy glow.
Luo Jingshu had stayed by his side all night, hardly resting. His pale skin and the dark circles under his eyes were especially noticeable.
Xiao Cheng urged him to go get some rest, but Luo Jingshu clung to his shirt pitifully. “Brother Cheng, can I not go back right away?”
“I’m so tired, I just want to sleep.”
Xiao Cheng initially wanted to send him back to school, but when he saw how exhausted Luo Jingshu looked and remembered that everything was for his sake, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
In the end, he relented.
“I’ll take you to the hotel.”
Luo Jingshu leaned against Xiao Cheng, his arms wrapped around his waist, his head resting on Xiao Cheng’s shoulder.
“Brother Cheng, why can’t you bring me to your place?”
Xiao Cheng put his arm around him to prevent him from falling. “I’m staying at Mr. Bai’s place, it’s not very convenient.”
Mainly because Bai Yiheng and Luo Jingshu didn’t have a very good relationship, and if Xiao Cheng suddenly brought Luo Jingshu back, Bai Yiheng might not be happy about it.
Of course, he knew that Mr. Bai would never say anything, but deep down, he might feel uncomfortable.
Luo Jingshu’s eyes shifted. “Anyway, tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day, how about I stay with you for the holiday? You don’t have to stay at Mr. Bai’s. Let’s stay in a hotel together.”
Xiao Cheng’s face immediately broke into a smile. He pinched Luo Jingshu’s face. “So you had this planned all along.”
“Quite the schemer.”
Luo Jingshu knew that Xiao Cheng hadn’t outright rejected him, meaning he was willing to accept it, so he immediately clung to Xiao Cheng’s waist, cooing and acting spoiled.
Except for a few times when he was particularly assertive, Luo Jingshu was usually very good at being spoiled and sweet-talking Xiao Cheng, making him feel overjoyed, as if he would do anything for him.
Xiao Cheng also wanted to spend Valentine’s Day with his boyfriend.
Actually, his internship period had already ended, and they could have gone back to City S for the holiday, but it seemed like Luo Jingshu had some obsession with staying. Xiao Cheng agreed to his request.
Every time he thought about how red Luo Jingshu’s eyes were last night, he was afraid he wasn’t gentle enough, and Luo Jingshu didn’t feel secure.
Giving in meant being pinned down in the hotel bed by a well-rested Luo Jingshu, tossed around and teased to the point of exhaustion, until his waist and legs ached and his throat went hoarse.
After Xiao Cheng fell asleep, Luo Jingshu reached for Xiao Cheng’s phone from the bedside table and unlocked it with his fingerprint.
Xiao Cheng never hid his phone from him and allowed Luo Jingshu to go through it.
But there were some things that needed to be done while Xiao Cheng was asleep.
Luo Jingshu aimed the phone’s camera at Xiao Cheng’s neck and took a picture of the bite marks there. He then sent it to two people and left a message:
[Thanks for your concern, my wife is already asleep.]
It was fine with Bai Yiheng, but Xie Zhao still hadn’t given up and kept contacting Xiao Cheng.
Although their conversations were normal and Xie Zhao no longer showed any romantic interest, it didn’t stop Luo Jingshu from feeling jealous.
Defeating rivals in love never stops.
The two didn’t respond.
Luo Jingshu snorted and happily deleted the chat history.
Some things were better not seen by Brother Cheng.
–
The first Valentine’s Day together was a nervous affair for Xiao Cheng.
He originally planned to return to City S with Luo Jingshu, but the plans changed at the last minute. They decided to spend the holiday in City A instead, so Xiao Cheng had to adjust his own plans.
Fortunately, the gift was still with him.
Yes, he had prepared a Valentine’s Day gift for Luo Jingshu.
After much thought, he decided to give Luo Jingshu something meaningful.
They followed the usual dating routine: watching a movie. Xiao Cheng picked a romance film, only to realize that the theater was full of couples.
Luo Jingshu wanted to sit in a corner, but Xiao Cheng choose a seat in the center, the best view.
Luo Jingshu, with a look of quiet resentment, muttered, “We can’t do anything naughty here.”
Xiao Cheng seriously explained, “There are night vision cameras, even if we sit in the corner, we’ll still be clearly filmed.”
“If you don’t want to embarrass yourself, just watch the movie.”
Luo Jingshu…
Fine.
He had thought they might sneak a kiss, but Xiao Cheng was genuinely watching the movie, so much so that he ended up with teary eyes by the end.
As they left the cinema, walking down the bustling street, Xiao Cheng suddenly stopped and looked at Luo Jingshu with red eyes.
Luo Jingshu didn’t know what to say, so he gently wiped away Xiao Cheng’s tears, softly comforting him, “It’s all fake, Brother Cheng, don’t be sad.”
He was about to comfort him some more when Xiao Cheng suddenly grabbed his hand and placed a small box in it.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend.”
To be honest, the atmosphere wasn’t very romantic, but Luo Jingshu was still moved and surprised as he looked down, “Brother Cheng…”
Xiao Cheng had actually prepared a gift for him.
Luo Jingshu’s eyes sparkled as he looked at Xiao Cheng, his heart filled entirely with gratitude. “Thank you, husband.”
Xiao Cheng blushed, “Open it and see.”
Luo Jingshu opened the box, and inside was a familiar men’s watch.
It was different from the one he had previously liked; it seemed to be this year’s new model.
Luo Jingshu was stunned, and Xiao Cheng said, “I thought about it, and decided to give it to you.”
“Consider it making up for the regret from before.”
Xiao Cheng looked at him seriously, “Jingshu, this watch is the new model, and so is our relationship. Let it be the witness to our love.”
Xiao Cheng blushed intensely, but his voice was firm. “I will always love you.”
As long as you still need me, I will always be by your side.
Luo Jingshu’s eyes grew red, and he hugged Xiao Cheng tightly, his voice choked with emotion, trembling with excitement. “I love you too, Brother Cheng.”
He loved him enough to worry, toss and turn, taste the sweetness and bitterness of love, yet would never let go.
Fortunately, Xiao Cheng didn’t give up on him.
Xiao Cheng gently patted Luo Jingshu’s back. “I know you’re not that simple, Jingshu, you don’t need to pretend in front of me. My love is complete, all of you.”
“No matter how difficult or obsessive you are, in my heart, you’ll always be the one who makes my heart race, Nian Nian.”
Luo Jingshu trembled. He hadn’t heard those two words from Xiao Cheng in a long time.
That sweet, passionate address. After Xiao Cheng discovered his deception, Luo Jingshu never heard it again.
It felt like he was granted a pardon. He held Xiao Cheng tightly, tears falling nonstop, soaking his clothes.
Xiao Cheng’s eyes reddened as well. He gently patted Luo Jingshu’s back, comforting him.
He didn’t know how long it had been, but when the fireworks in the distance finally stopped, Xiao Cheng finally heard Luo Jingshu’s soft voice by his ear.
“Brother Cheng, can you call me that again, please?”
Xiao Cheng rubbed his head, “Good boy, Nian Nian, don’t cry.”
Luo Jingshu’s voice was hoarse, full of nasal sound. “Mm, I’ll listen to you.”
