That night, Shi Yi managed to calm down Lu Yunye’s premarital anxiety for a short time with chocolate and yogurt, but they skipped dinner. When he got up, his eyes were dark and his stomach was hungry.
Shi Yi ate the millet porridge left by Uncle Wang for supper, with two side dishes. Sitting was uncomfortable, and distracting Lu Yunye like this is obviously not a long-term solution.
Fortunately, the two weeks passed quickly. Although his back hurt a little, he finally distracted Lu Yunye’s mind.
During this period of time, Shi Yi pampered him too much, so Lu Yunye became more inseparable and obsessed with his smell. Kissing before going to bed, hugging when waking up, and whining if he went out for a long time. Shi Yi almost wanted to return the goods on the Lu house doorstep.
The day before the wedding, Lu Yunye was like a dog ready to go out. He was restless all day long. In the evening, he received a call from Xiao Ting, asking him to go back to the old house alone.
“Mother, what’s the matter?” Lu Yunye didn’t have an appetite. “I have to go back early today.”
“Why? Stay here tonight.” Mother Lu drank a bowl of fish maw soup in a dignified manner. Taking advantage of Lu Yunye’s wedding, she bought a lot of clothes and jewelry. The emerald bracelet on her wrist was green and eye-catching.
“How can this be done?” Lu Yunye stood up anxiously. “Shi Yi…”
“I made an agreement with him a few days ago that Xiao Yi will go to your Uncle Shu’s place.” Xiao Ting said unhurriedly. “It is an old custom that couples cannot meet each other the night before the wedding. If not, bad luck will strike.”
“I anticipated you might not be obedient, and would be reluctant to come home. If you didn’t lie to you, would you come back?”
“Besides, you live together, where will the wedding car go to pick him up?”
Lu Yunye was startled, and sat down on the chair like a deflated rooster. He said in a daze, “But I miss him.”
Xiao Ting raised her head in astonishment. She didn’t expect her son to be so pitiful and aggrieved.
Isn’t he embarrassed as such a big guy?
“All right, all right,” Xiao Ting waved her hand. “You’ll see him tomorrow. I’m not drawing the heavenly river between the two of you like the Queen Mother[mfn]reference to the Cowherd & Weaver Girl legend[/mfn].”
According to Mother Lu, he can’t video chat or call on the phone, he can only type. Lu Yunye tossed and turned on the bed with his mobile phone in his arms. Shi Yi should have gone to bed early and didn’t reply.
In fact, Shi Yi wasn’t asleep yet, he was chatting with Shu Wen. Father and son haven’t shared a bed for many years, Shi Yi lay on Shu Wen’s lap, watching him unhurriedly felt a ball with cat fur.
“Dad, I’m a little nervous.” Shi Yi said softly.
“Why are you nervous?” Shu Wen scratched his chin like teasing a cat.
“I can’t tell.” Shi Yi frowned. It’s obvious they’ve lived together for a long time, and have been fully marked. Their lives are no longer separate, yet this ceremony emphasizing this relationship took him at a loss.
“Actually, I’m also nervous.” Shu Wen blinked. “My only son is about to get married; I can’t bear it.”
“Dad, it’s not like I won’t come back to see you.” Shi Yi immediately put his little fears behind him. “The distance between our homes is so close, it’s just a matter of stepping on the gas pedal.”
“That’s why, don’t be afraid.” Shu Wen brushed his hair lightly with his fingers. “If Lu Yunye bullies you, Dad will hit him for you.”
“Even if Dad can’t do it, there’s Dr. Shen.”
Shi Yi was amused and finally fell asleep beside Shu Wen contentedly.
It was agreed that Lu Yunye would come to pick him up at eight o’clock. As soon as it was dawn, there was a long queue of off-road motorcades outside the residential area.
The first car Lu Yunye drove was a modified Hummer. The engine was loud when the accelerator was pumped up, so in order not to disturb the people, the behemoth drove in silently. It was as smooth and quiet as a knife cutting through butter.
In the next few cars are Dai Xing, Song Wei, and Zheng Kai. Everyone usually likes sports cars or military vehicles, and have never felt so aggrieved, driving as if they’re walking in old age.
Dai Xing opened the lower half of the window: “Lao Lu, tell the truth, did you get your husband to agree or not? It feels like we are here to kidnap someone.”
Lu Yunye couldn’t explain his sense of urgency, so he called Dr. Shen first. Then, the lights on the second floor lit up one at a time.
Shi Yi’s head popped out from the window on the second floor. He was obviously not awake, and his hair was still standing up in all directions.
He pushed open the window. The air in the early morning of May was still a bit chilly. Dai Xing and the others were dancing silently like demons downstairs asking him to come down.
Shi Yi went to change his clothes expressionlessly. For the first time, he thought about whether it was too hasty to marry like this.
By the time he put on his white suit, Lu Yunye had already bribed Dr. Shen and entered the house. The two met each other unexpectedly, Shi Yi was dressed in a straight suit and tall making Lu Yunye stutter when he saw him: “Y-you, where’s your veil?”
“I don’t want one.” Shi Yi said vigilantly. He had seen the red thing that Lu Yunye asked someone to order, full of gold trim and lace, and was almost zapped by lightning.
Lu Yunye hurried forward, and wrapped his arms around his waist. “How can you ride in a wedding car without a veil? It can ward off evil spirits and keep you safe!”
Dr. Shen smiled and handed over a red cloth, “Let’s go, let’s go, your Uncle Shu hasn’t woken up yet, we’ll go to the scene after he’s awake.”
“Thank you, Dr. Shen!” Lu Yunye restrained his omega with both hands, and put the red veil on Shi Yi’s head.
Shi Yi choked speechlessly, and was directly carried out of the yard by Lu Yunye and stuffed into the car amidst his groomsmen’s playful whistles. He tugged the red cloth on his head, and kept it on in the end – out of sight, out of mind.
As Lu Yunye promised before, employees from Yunye Media and Feiyi were invited, totaling more than 200 people. After including Lu Feng’s business partners and Lu Yunye’s former comrades-in-arms, the guest list totalled 500 to 600 people.
The venue was set up overnight. When the first ray of sunlight shone, the red roses had just reached full bloom, with water droplets on them.
The guests arrived one after another. Lu Feng and Xiao Ting wore flowers around their necklines and greeted people everywhere. Lu Yue, the youngest nephew from Lu Yunye’s cousin, asked for leave to be a flower boy, bouncing around with a flower basket, and whenever he saw a little omega of the same age, he would give him a flower.
Looking at the endless red carpet, the exquisite arched flower doors, the delicate champagne tower… Lu Yunye’s anxiety for more than a month finally relaxed, and there was a sense of peace when the music played.
The solemn wedding march sounded, and the people at the scene gradually quieted down. Accompanied by Shu Wen and Shen Qing’an, one on the left and one on the right, they stepped on the long red carpet, passing by the full-seat guests, and brought Shi Yi to him.
After feeling bad at not seeing someone for one night, seeing Shi Yi standing in front of him openly at this moment, Lu Yunye faltered. It’s like he suddenly received a treasure he dreamed about day and night, and was taken aback at it coming true.
Shu Wen smiled lightly, took Shi Yi’s hand and brought it to him. Lu Yunye pinched the thin fingertips, a thin layer of sweat already appeared in his palm.
He didn’t know who he was talking to, but he said softly, “Thank you.”
After finishing speaking, he couldn’t help bringing that hand to his lips and kissed it lightly.
The officiant thoughtfully waited for Lu Yunye to finish venting his emotions before gently opening the booklet in his hand, and recited solemnly:
“For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love, honor, and cherish…”
The two of them stared at each other and read along softly. Every word and sentence was filled with strength, making the surrounding voices gradually fade away.
Lu Yunye heard the officiant ask him: “Mr. Lu Yunye, would you like Mr. Shi Yi to be your legal partner?”
He almost couldn’t wait: “I am willing!”
There was a chuckle before he turned to the other party, “Mr. Shi Yi, would you like Mr. Lu Yunye to be your legal partner?”
Shi Yi said firmly: “I am willing!”
The ring bearer arrived with the rings, and the officiant stood aside, leaving enough room for the new couple.
Lu Yunye picked up the plain platinum ring and put it on Shi Yi’s left ring finger lightly. The initials “L&S” of their surnames were engraved on the inner circle of the ring.
Shi Yi followed suit and put on a ring for Lu Yunye. The engagement ring on his right hand shone brightly, and the blue diamond shone clearly.
The audience didn’t know who took the lead in applauding, and suddenly there was wave after wave of applause, accompanied by congratulations and shouts.
Standing in the middle of the stage, Shi Yi held the bouquet in one hand and made a feint of throwing it.
“Oh!” Everyone raised their hands to grab it, and the employees of Feiyi in the back row even fought with Yunye Media employees, refusing to give in to each other.
Shi Yi smiled, and threw the bouquet out with all his strength. Lu Yan, who was in front, jumped up high, and caught it with his arm outstretched!
There was a sound of applause all around.
It’s just that when he fell, he couldn’t stand firmly. He snatched the bouquet, then staggered and fell into someone’s arms.
Lu Yan was afraid others would snatch his flowers, so he wrapped his arms tightly around him, even at the expense of falling down. A laughing voice came from above his head: “Don’t worry, I won’t snatch it.”
When Lu Yan looked up and saw Song Wei, he felt a hint of embarrassment. “Who asked for your help?”
After the ceremony was completed, everyone began to eat, drink, and sing congratulations again. Lu Yunye led Shi Yi onto the dance floor, hands linked, like a perfect pair.
The dancing steps were light, but Lu Yunye’s arm was tightly wrapped around Shi Yi’s waist. The scenery behind him changed, but the upward arc of the corner of his mouth remained unchanged.
“I love you, Shi Yi.”
Shi Yi didn’t answer, and waited until the end of the dance music. He borrowed the pause and stood on tiptoe, kissing the corner of Lu Yunye’s lips.
“I love you too, sixty seconds longer than you.”
That’s it for the SY & LYY main story. There’s still several extras including a parallel world SY & LYY, and some side CPs.
