―――Please. Don’t report this. They’re both just twenty years old. I’ll make sure nothing like this ever happens again. I’ll keep a close eye on them.

―――S-sorry. But it’s my duty.

―――Doctor.

―――I apologise. I’m going to check on the patient.

―――Wait!

―――……!

(I remember!)

The painful tingling when the man grabbed his upper arm.

It started with a shock, like being electrocuted, followed by dilated pupils, dry mouth, a rapid heartbeat, and a rise in body temperature.

The overpowering scent, like ripe fruit, coming from the man. That sweet scent stirred something in him, awakening a rapid desire he had never felt before.

Kazusa doesn’t know why the contact with this man triggered this reaction. But because of it, the Omega nature that had been dormant inside him was awakened.

If he hadn’t made contact with him, he would probably still be just an ordinary Beta orthopaedic surgeon…

With minor complaints, he would have lived through another ordinary day, just like the day before…

“I don’t know the exact mechanism behind it. But the fact is that contact with me caused you to become an Omega. I feel partly responsible for you losing your medical licence.”

The man spoke with a solemn expression.

Those words triggered a sudden surge of anger, frustration, and resentment—feelings Kazusa hadn’t been able to express to anyone until now. They swelled within him, growing larger and larger until they reached their limit—

“That’s right!”

Kazusa exploded.

“It’s your fault!”

Kazusa, having finally found an outlet for his pent-up emotions, directed his anger at the man.

“Because of you, I’ve lost everything! I was kicked out of my workplace, lost my job, and I even lost my home!”

A part of him knew this was just taking out his frustration. But once the volcano of emotions erupted, there was no stopping it.

“If you hadn’t grabbed my arm at that time, if I hadn’t felt that electric shock and triggered my heat, none of this would have happened!”

The man, seemingly intrigued, asked, “You felt that current too?”

“Doesn’t it strike you as odd? I’ve been around plenty of Omegas. But none of them ever caused anything like that. It only happened with you.”

Kazusa felt irritated by the man’s curiosity at such a moment, especially when someone was about to jump off a building.

“Who cares! It’s all over anyway!”

“It’s not over.”

The man firmly denied Kazusa’s cry of despair. His tone was unwavering.

“You’ll be fine.”

The man’s confident declaration made blood rush to Kazusa’s head in fury. He’s treating this like it’s nothing. Damn it!

“How can you say that? I’ve become an Omega at thirty!”

“I’ll take care of it.”

“What??”

What’s with this guy? Does he think being handsome means he can say whatever he wants?

“I’ll take responsibility for your life from now on.”

This baseless, irresponsible promise made Kazusa’s anger flare even more.

This is exactly why I can’t stand people from downtown.

“Now, come down from there. Let’s have something warm to drink, sober up, and talk about your future.”

The man looked Kazusa directly in the eye, speaking seriously and extending his hand.

“Shut up!”

Kazusa lashed out, swatting the man’s hand away in anger. The sudden movement caused him to lose his balance. Both hands slipped from the fence and his upper body tilted backward.

“Huh…?”

“Watch out!”

The man’s tense voice echoed across the rooftop.

Kazusa tried to grab the fence again. But once his balance was lost, it wasn’t easy to recover. Despite his struggle, his upper body bent backward further, and the ink-black sky filled his vision.

(I’m going to fall—!)

Even though he had intended to dive off and die, the mere thought of smashing into the concrete rooftop made his throat tighten in fear. Reflexively, he shut his eyes tight. But then he felt a strong hand press against his back.

“…”

A jolt, like an electric shock, ran from the spot where the hand supported him. He heard a suppressed groan near his ear—just before his body fully separated from the fence.

“Ahhh…!”

Kazusa screamed as he fell backward. But when he hit the concrete floor, the impact, mainly to his back, wasn’t as severe as he had braced for. Something hard yet somewhat flexible cushioned the blow, absorbing the shock that should have been his.

“…”

Kazusa slowly opened his eyes and gazed up at the round moon overhead. The sound of his heartbeat, thump, thump, thump, and his ragged breathing, haa, haa, haa, harmonised in his ears.

(I’m… alive?)

Realising this, he shot up and looked back at the man who had cushioned his fall.

“Are… are you okay?”

Kazusa swallowed his words.

The man’s jewel-like eyes were glinting. His mismatched eyes were wet with lust. A heavy scent emanated from the man, whose face now bore a distinctly male expression.

(This… scent.)

It was a sweet smell, like ripe fruit, that Kazusa recognized.

Last night, after their contact had sent that electric shock through him, the man had started to emit this scent. And before Kazusa knew it, he had entered heat.

Now, that intense scent clung to his body again, and, as though drawn into the man’s desire, Kazusa felt his own body rapidly begin to heat up.

“Haa… haa…”

His pulse quickened, sweat formed, his eyes moistened, and a strange heat built up in his lower abdomen…

Last night, he hadn’t understood what this overwhelming, irresistible phenomenon was. It was like a force that swallowed his human reason and neutralised his brakes.

It was something he had never experienced in his thirty years.

But now, he knew.

This was heat.
