The cast and staff greeted him one after another, clapping in welcome. From their reaction, Kazusa could tell that Serval was well-liked among his peers. His bright and easygoing personality, as well as the fact that he had made Kazusa the helpful list, showed he was indeed a ‘good guy’.

“Now for the second topic. From today, we have a new cast member joining us. You’ve all probably met during the training already—Lemur, step forward.”

Nervously, Kazusa stepped out from the far end of the front row. He kept a respectful distance from Zero as he faced the six cast members he would be working with on his debut night.

Giraffe. Zebra. Newt. Fossa. Jackal. Serval.

As he stood face to face with them, he noticed that although each one had their unique personality, they all seemed to shine.

Floor staff wore black uniforms with aprons and intercoms, while kitchen staff wore standard white chef coats. However, the cast had no uniforms; they were free to wear whatever they wanted, with no restrictions on hairstyle or clothing.

Because of that freedom, each cast member expressed their character through their fashion choices, hairstyles, and accessories. In stark contrast to their stylish looks, Kazusa wore his usual dull silver-rimmed glasses, a plain white shirt, and black bottoms—no trace of individuality whatsoever. He had spent a good thirty minutes that day standing in front of the mirror, trying on and discarding his limited wardrobe, only to end up with his usual plain outfit.

“As you know, Lemur is a beginner, both as an Omega and as a cast member. Today will be his first experience with customer service. Please give him as much support as you can.”

Zero’s words to the staff prompted Kazusa to nervously greet everyone.

“…I’m new here, and though I may be inexperienced, I humbly ask for your guidance and support.”

After bowing deeply and returning to his stance, Kazusa saw the puzzled faces of the cast members in the front row.

“…What language was that?”

“What did he just say?”

“That made no sense.”

A wave of playful jeers hit him all at once, and a cold sweat started forming under his arms.

(I overdid it with the formalities…)

Just as he started to panic, Serval joked, “You’re way too stiff, Sensei!” while giving him a playful wink, signalling he was helping to ease the tension.

“You’re too serious! Relax, relax.”

“Serval’s right,” Zero chimed in. “No need to be so stiff. If you need help, just rely on your team.”

Feeling like a student being lectured by a teacher, Kazusa, despite being older, nodded in acknowledgment. “Y-Yes.”

“You don’t have any clients booked on your first day. So tonight, focus on learning the basics of customer service by assisting Serval. Serval, look after him.”

“Roger that.”

“And Lemur, make sure to keep an eye on Serval so he doesn’t overdo it, considering he’s still recovering.”

“Understood. …Everyone, I look forward to working with you today,” Kazusa said once more, bowing as he returned to his spot at the end of the row. Leaning toward Serval, he whispered, “I’ll be counting on you.”

“You better go easy on me too, Sensei!” Serval grinned back.

“Tonight, we have five guests in the first round—one of whom will be in the VIP room—and six guests in the second round, making a total of eleven. Let’s make sure to give our guests a special, extraordinary experience. That’s all,” Zero concluded.

At Zero’s signal to ‘dismiss’. The staff began heading to their respective positions. Kazusa was about to follow suit when Zero called out, “Lemur,” stopping him in his tracks. He turned to see Zero, now in his authoritative owner role, looking directly at him.

“During the three days of training, you worked harder and more seriously than anyone else. You should be confident in yourself.”

Hearing those words, Kazusa felt a warm surge of emotion, realising that Zero had been observing him all along.

“Thank you.”

“But don’t push yourself too hard.”

With that final piece of advice, Zero headed back to the office where Hawk was waiting. From there, they would monitor the lounge via surveillance cameras throughout the night, ensuring that either of them could respond to any trouble immediately.

After watching Zero disappear from view, Kazusa turned to Serval, who was technically his senior in the lounge.

“Shouldn’t we be heading to the backroom?” he asked.

It was standard procedure for cast members to wait in the backroom until summoned by the floor staff. However, Serval remained in the hall, which made Kazusa curious.

“The guests coming at six booked the VIP room to celebrate my return. It’s a CEO of a national chain of beauty salons—a very important client. So, I’m staying here to greet her.”

The fact that his first customer of the night would be in the exclusive VIP room, and that she was a high-profile female CEO, made Kazusa even more nervous.

(I can’t afford to mess this up.)

Steeling himself, Kazusa waited anxiously. Before long, a floor staff member from reception escorted a woman who appeared to be in her early forties. She had a curvy figure wrapped in a body-conscious dress, with sharp, defined features. As expected from the head of a beauty salon chain, her makeup was flawless, and her brightly coloured hair was luxuriously curled. She exuded an aura of assertiveness that immediately made Kazusa feel uneasy.

Just as Kazusa struggled to suppress his rising discomfort, Serval dashed over to the woman, throwing his arms wide in welcome.

“Welcome to ‘Night Safari’!”

The cast members had varying tones and levels of enthusiasm when delivering the standard greeting. But the words themselves were always the same.

“Aya-san! Long time no see!”

“Kyaa! Serval!”

The woman with curly hair let out a high-pitched squeal and embraced Serval.

“I was so lonely for the whole week!”

“You stayed faithful and waited for me, right?”

“Of course I did!”

She playfully slapped Serval’s left shoulder. For a brief moment, Serval winced in pain. But quickly put on a smile as if nothing had happened.

“I’m so happy you booked the VIP room.”

“It’s to celebrate your return! Let’s pop some champagne and celebrate!”

The woman, in a cheerful mood, grabbed Serval’s left arm and leaned against him with her voluminous body. Kazusa could tell that Serval must have been in a lot of pain, though he didn’t show it on his face.

“Um…”

The words slipped out of Kazusa before he could stop himself, causing both the woman and Serval to turn towards him.
