I got a job!!!! Pro: the pay is way better, and my coworkers are very nice! Cons: it’s so much busier, and I hardly got any time for anything…
As a result, I can only do any tl work on the weekend……. (cries)
Anyway, since both of my series is on the verge of ending anyways, I’ll finish these two and… probably rested until I have my work-life balance fixed. Maybe then, I’ll pick up a new series. (I actually have two candidates, but both of them are LONG and idk if I can finish them… let’s just see in the future.)
On other note… thank you Reader92345 for the donation! I’ll use it for TYAM, since you didn’t specify which series. For today, I’ll upload all the chapters that is supposed to be uploaded this week, so 2 chapters (4 uploads, since they’re long bois) for WCG, and 2 chapters for TYAM (+2 bonus chapters, so 4 total)
The two left in a hurry and later called the Ji family, saying they had to stay in Hongcheng to handle official business and would return the next afternoon. They asked Mr. Ji to look after Xingwang for a day.
Ji Guoshen had always been fond of Peng Xingwang, treating him like a biological grandson. He happily picked him up from school and took him to Jiang Wang’s house to get a change of clothes.
Knowing he would be staying at Grandpa Ji’s house tonight, Peng Xingwang thought for a moment and ran to the balcony to grab his freshly dried pajamas.
“Grandpa, just sit for a bit! I’ll be quick!”
“No rush!”
Ji Guoshen had visited this place many times before and often brought marinated chicken and cured meat made by his wife for his son. But back then, he usually just chatted with Linqiu in the living room and didn’t pay much attention to the decorations.
Now, standing alone in the empty main hall, he originally wanted to find some plastic shoe covers, but his gaze landed on a framed photo on the shoe cabinet.
In the picture, Peng Xingwang was wearing a sports tracksuit with a red headband tied around his forehead, while the two young men beside him were laughing brightly.
Ji Guoshen’s heart sank. The vague suspicions he had before became even stronger.
If Linqiu were just ordinary friends with him, he could easily probe a little and clear up any misunderstandings with a joke.
But Jiang Wang was different.
There’s a saying that a man should establish himself by thirty, but for young people today, simply entering the industry and making some progress in their career by thirty is already quite an achievement.
Someone like Jiang Wang, who was already leading multiple thriving companies at a young age, managing them efficiently across different industries — there were barely a handful of such people in the province.
Whenever Ji Guoshen stood in front of him, he could feel an invisible pressure. Fortunately, Jiang Wang was always humble and easygoing, making their interactions smooth.
Peng Xingwang ran downstairs with his small backpack, saw Ji Guoshen looking closely at the framed photo, and grinned, “Grandpa! That’s from when we went to the sports meet!”
“It’s a great photo,” Ji Guoshen said sincerely. “Linqiu never used to take pictures, he said it made him uncomfortable.”
But now, in this house, there were photos everywhere. Ji Guoshen even felt a little envious.
How did this child seem so introverted and reserved around his own family, yet so lively when he was with Jiang Wang?
“Oh, by the way,” Ji Guoshen suddenly remembered something and asked curiously, “Since you live here often, have you ever seen any older sisters around?”
Peng Xingwang answered without hesitation, “All the time! And they’re all super pretty!”
Several secretary sisters and assistant sisters were very gorgeous! Not to mention Teacher Yuan, Teacher Qiu, and Teacher Cheng! One was prettier than the next!
Ji Guoshen hadn’t expected Jiang Wang to be such a ladies’ man and was shocked. “All of them? There are several?”
“There are a few regulars, and some who come and go,” Peng Xingwang thought for a moment. “They all seem to like Brother Wang, but I don’t know who Brother Wang likes.”
Ji Guoshen wondered if he had been overthinking things. Hearing this, all his suspicions suddenly felt unnecessary.
Boss Jiang is quite something… With so many admirers, there shouldn’t be a problem, right?
After taking Peng Xingwang home and having dinner, Ji Guoshen told Chen Danhong about it.
Chen Danhong was busy learning how to use a cassette player, listening to an English course recording.
“As long as he’s not playing with people’s feelings, let him date as many girlfriends as he wants. Being happy is what matters most.”
“That’s not it,” Ji Guoshen mused. “I don’t think Little Jiang is that kind of person. Even when women approach him at social events to toast him, he’s always very measured in his actions. It’s just that many people are chasing after him.”
Compared to that, Linqiu was still too reserved and still unwilling to get close to girls.
Chen Danhong continued writing English letters, adjusting her reading glasses. “You’ve changed. You never used to meddle in neighborhood gossip like this. Have you been too idle these past months?”
She had been attending senior citizens’ university for several months now. Even if Ji Guoshen told her Jiang Wang liked men, she wouldn’t care.
Their teacher had taught them that the most important thing for the elderly is understanding the difference between oneself and others.
It’s your own life, so do whatever makes you comfortable, as long as it’s legal and doesn’t disrupt social order.
As for other people’s lives? Even if they’re your own children, they still have their own way of living!
Chen Danhong had been a top student in elementary school, but her family gave all the educational opportunities to her younger brother. In the end, she only finished primary school before dropping out.
Her old friends told her that if she had been given a chance back then, she might have been able to study abroad in the Soviet Union with the top students!
After spending her whole life as a housewife, doing farm work and household chores, these past few months of studying had given her a new perspective on life.
Ji Guoshen was stunned for a moment, then laughed. “When you put it that way… you’re right. Danhong, I used to have you watching TV with me, going on walks with me. Now, when I sit alone in the living room, I don’t even know what to do.”
“That won’t do. Our senior class teacher, Teacher Ge, said that time should always be spent wisely.” Chen Danhong pushed her English book in front of him. “I forgot how to read several of these lines. Come on, Old Ji, teach me.”
“Alright, alright… Looks like it’s my turn to be your tutor now.”
The next day, Jiang Wang and Ji Linqiu drove back one after another, with the secretary taking their keys to help find parking.
“Boss, you should head up first. Teacher Tao has scheduled a meeting with you in fifteen minutes.”
“Teacher Tao?” Jiang Wang paused. “The one from Tianjin? Or the one selling pinyin books?”
“The one from the Experimental Elementary School,” the assistant beside them added. “She even brought a document case, like she has something to give you.”
Jiang Wang’s scalp tightened. He motioned for Ji Linqiu to help with other company matters while he rushed back to his office.
A homeroom teacher wouldn’t come here easily. There was a 90% chance that little brat Peng Xingwang had caused some trouble at school.
Even though he was now the principal of an education center, he still had an instinct to back away when facing a homeroom teacher, probably because of the trauma from being scared by Old Lady Xu in his childhood.
Tao Yingqi not only wore formal attire today but also had a full face of professional makeup. Her sharp eyebrows and red lips gave off a commanding presence.
She sat quietly across from the desk, while Fu Er peeked in from the glass doorframe, watching secretly.
Jiang Wang happened to walk over. “What are you looking at?”
Fu Er chuckled and scurried away.
As Jiang Wang stepped into the office, Tao Yingqi stood up and gave a slight bow. “Boss Jiang.”
Jiang Wang immediately tensed up.
“No need to be so formal,” he quickly said. “Did Peng Xingwang get into a fight with another kid? Or did he cause trouble for a teacher?”
He looked calm on the surface, but internally, he was already rolling up his sleeves, ready to spank the little rascal.
Tao Yingqi was momentarily stunned but quickly reacted. “No, no.”
“It has nothing to do with Xingwang. He’s been doing very well in class lately,” she said with a forced smile, sitting up straight. “It’s actually about me… I’m planning to switch jobs next semester.”
As she spoke, she pulled out her resume from her bag, along with copies of her teacher evaluation reports and related award certificates.
Jiang Wang, who stood frozen in place: …??
Tao Yingqi: …?
The two of them stared at each other for several seconds until even Tao Yingqi started feeling a little confused. She turned her head toward the door, searching for someone. “Didn’t you ask Fu Er to talk to me about this…?”
Jiang Wang pinched the bridge of his nose. “Fu Er—!!”
“I’m here, I’m here!” Fu Er quickly walked in, clutching an employee handbook, and confidently flipped to the page on referral policies. “We’re just following company procedures! There are mutual incentives for recommending new hires, and besides—”
Jiang Wang felt a massive headache coming on.
Yes, the company encouraged hiring and diversified talent acquisition, but that didn’t mean they needed to recruit Peng Xingwang’s homeroom teacher!
And how on earth did Fu Er even get close to Tao Yingqi?! Weren’t they completely unrelated?
Tao Yingqi suddenly realized what was going on and burst out laughing.
“The HR department has already reviewed Teacher Tao’s resume. They said it looks great, but they still need you to conduct a final interview,” Fu Er righteously declared, looking like he was sacrificing himself for the greater good. “Teacher Tao’s current salary and benefits aren’t great, and she’s already looking to switch jobs.”
Jiang Wang cleared his throat. “You, get out.”
“Alrighty!” Fu Er poked his head back in before closing the door. “So, about the referral incentive bonus—”
“Claim it yourself!”
Once the office quieted down, Tao Yingqi stifled a laugh. “Boss Jiang, are we still doing this interview?”
Jiang Wang thought for two seconds. “We’re too familiar with each other. I’ll get someone else to handle it.”
Three minutes later.
Ji Linqiu walked in with an interview form in hand, just in time to meet Tao Yingqi’s gaze.
Ji Linqiu: …?!!
Jiang Wang immediately complained, “It was Fu Er’s doing.”
Ji Linqiu turned around and shouted, “—Fu! Er!!”
By then, a certain someone had already run off after claiming her referral bonus.
Tao Yingqi waved with a smile. “Shall we begin, Second Boss?”
The interview was awkward but friendly, and in the end, both sides were satisfied with the results.
As Tao Yingqi left with a signed contract in hand, Peng Xingwang happened to arrive at the company cafeteria, hoping to mooch a meal.
The moment he saw his homeroom teacher, his back straightened instantly. “T-T-Teacher Tao!”
His teacher smiled and patted his head. “See you on Monday. Don’t forget to review your speech for the flag-raising ceremony.”
“Yes!!” Peng Xingwang almost saluted on the spot. “Goodbye, Teacher!”
He watched as his teacher drove away before sprinting upstairs at full speed, not even bothering to wait for the elevator.
“Brother Wang!! Why was Teacher Tao here?!!”
Jiang Wang quietly sipped his tea, while Ji Linqiu laughed like he was enjoying a show.
“Xingwang, starting next semester, Teacher Tao will be leaving her school to join our company.”
The child stood in the doorway, looking like he had just been struck by lightning, burnt to a crisp inside and out.
His homeroom teacher… would be working at his big brother’s company every single day from now on??
Big brother, do you even know how terrifying she is when she gets serious?!
Peng Xingwang held it in for over ten seconds before dramatically shouting, “Big! Brother! You really don’t care about my feelings at all!!”
“You already brought Teacher Ji over, and now you’re taking Teacher Tao too?! I won’t even dare to sit slouching anymore, you know!!”
Ji Linqiu, the expert of adding fuel to the fire, chimed in. “Even after you graduate elementary school, you’ll still see your homeroom teacher every day. Isn’t that great?”
So great.
It was every elementary schooler’s worst nightmare.
“Absolutely, absolutely do not bring any more teachers from Experimental Primary School into the company!” Peng Xingwang wailed, nearly in tears. “Brother, I swear I’ll never copy homework again. Can we please not do this—!”
lol poor Peng Xingwang
I can’t, I’m lughing so hard (ಡ艸ಡ)
Thank You for the new chapter (*´・ω・)♡♡♡ Congrats on finding a job! Good luck with it! ヾ(o≧∀≦o)ノ゙
