Happy Vesak’s Day~
This boss’s slowing ability was truly a pain. Although Ran Qi and Feng Tian’s [Purification] skill could remove all debuffs, it only worked on one target at a time, meaning they had to cleanse everyone individually. On top of that, the skill had a cooldown, so by the time they finished dispelling the entire party’s slow effects, the boss would likely cast another skill, making their efforts almost useless.
Thankfully, Ran Qi had prepared speed potions for everyone, which increased movement speed by 20%, partially counteracting the slow effect. While their movements still felt slightly sluggish, at least it didn’t hinder their actions too much.
Since its slow debuff wasn’t very effective, the anglerfish boss’s HP quickly dropped under the team’s concentrated attacks. Once its HP fell below 50%, the lantern on its head suddenly flashed, and the next moment, the entire fish turned transparent and disappeared before their eyes.
“What just happened?” The team was startled—no one had expected the boss to simply vanish mid-fight. Was this some kind of special mechanic for Abyss Dungeons? Were they supposed to chase it somewhere else to continue the battle?
However, Ran Qi knew the truth. This boss had used its color-changing ability to completely blend into the environment, creating the illusion of disappearing. In reality, it was still lurking around them, watching for an opportunity to strike. And since it was a fish, it had a natural advantage in water, moving at incredible speeds. If it managed to ambush someone, a critical hit could easily result in a casualty.
“Use AoE attacks! Watch out for an ambush!” Ran Qi quickly warned.
Night Owl reacted instantly, casting Thunderstorm. In an instant, dozens of blue-violet lightning bolts spread across a five-meter radius. Thanks to the water’s conductivity, the electric shock extended even further, immediately exposing the anglerfish boss.
At some point, the boss had silently crept behind Shura, its massive mouth full of razor-sharp teeth wide open, ready to bite down on his head. Luckily, the Thunderstorm skill hit just in time, paralyzing the anglerfish with crackling electricity. Its body stiffened from the shock, but its blood-red eyes remained locked onto Shura with a vicious gleam.
Facing the boss’s gaping maw up close, Shura broke into a cold sweat. Without hesitation, he took advantage of the boss’s paralysis, putting distance between them before firing several consecutive arrows at its head.
The others seized the opportunity to unleash their attacks as well. Various skill effects exploded against the boss, filling the underwater battlefield with dazzling colors—oddly mesmerizing despite the tense battle.
However, the boss quickly regained mobility and disappeared once again.
At this point, Night Owl couldn’t afford to worry about hitting allies with his lightning attacks—he immediately cast Thunderstorm again.
But this time, the boss didn’t reappear within the attack’s range, proving that it had already used its high-speed swimming ability to escape the area.
“AoE skills, now! Use all your AoEs!” Ran Qi shouted while casting Light Rain.
Unfortunately, his warning was a little late. The anglerfish had already crept up behind No Happiness and lunged at him with its jaws wide open.
No Happiness reacted swiftly—he sensed the shift in the water and immediately sidestepped. Even so, the boss still managed to bite his left shoulder.
Thankfully, even though the game was fully immersive, it wasn’t completely realistic. If it were, given the boss’s size, a single bite like that might have taken off half his body.
No Happiness gritted his teeth and let out a muffled groan of pain. Without hesitation, he drove his dagger straight into the anglerfish’s eye. Blood gushed out as the boss shrieked and disappeared once again.
This time, no one needed a reminder—every team member with an AoE skill immediately activated it, successfully forcing the boss to reveal itself once more.
Night Owl instantly cast [Thunder Strike] on the boss. Although it was a single-target skill, its paralysis effect was much stronger, extending the boss’s immobilization.
“You okay?” Ran Qi quickly used a healing spell on No Happiness.
“I’m fine.” No Happiness smiled slightly. He was lucky—the boss’s attack hadn’t triggered a critical hit. His wound quickly healed under the warm glow of the healing spell, leaving only a bloodstain on his clothes. Once they left the dungeon and the system refreshed their data, even the stain would be gone.
The team seized the opportunity to focus-fire on the boss. After repeating this process a few more times, they finally managed to grind the anglerfish boss to death.
[System Announcement] Silent no more—an explosive debut! Congratulations to players [Night Owl], [Soul Chaser], [Plume Ink], [Sword at Fleeting Time], [Coke], [Bai Ran], [Windstorm Jiangnan], [Feng Tian], [No Happiness], [Four Seasons], [Raphael], [Smoke], [Shura], [Blossoming], and [Thousand Mechanisms] for achieving the first kill of the Demonized Anglerfish, the first boss in the Sea Abyss Dungeon! Rewarded with the title [Fish Monster Slayer] and [Physical Exchange Coupon *1].
[System Announcement] Player [Night Owl] struck swiftly, forcing the Demonized Anglerfish to flee in disgrace, leaving behind a [Fish-Eye Ring].
[Fish-Eye Ring]
Restriction Level: 45 or above
Limited Profession: Archer
Grade: S
Durability: 500/500
Attributes: Basic Defense+210, Basic Attack+100, Strength+77, Agility+55, Critical Hit+24
Despite its rather unappealing name, the ring itself was quite beautiful. A lustrous, jade-like gem was embedded in it—rather than a fish eye, it looked more like a pearl. Not to mention, it was an S-grade orange-tier piece of equipment.
[World] Clear Skies: A pro team really is on another level. Their efficiency in farming monsters is insane. If it were our team, we’d probably have died a dozen times…
[World] Doesn’t Matter: Holy crap! An S-rank ring?!
[World] Through Thick and Thin: They got an orange-tier drop from the first boss? Jealousy is consuming me…
[World] Frostfall: This boss doesn’t seem too hard. Its slow debuff is annoying, but if we stock up on enough speed potions, it should be manageable, right?
[World] Shinian: That’s only because a pro team fought it. The boss’s invisibility skill is a real hassle—you need several players with AoE skills to counter it. Otherwise, you’re stuck getting ambushed.
[World] Jia Tu: Easy for you to say. AoE skills aren’t easy to come by!
While the discussion continued, the rest of the team quickly checked the battle statistics. In the end, the rare S-grade ring was awarded to Soul Chaser, the highest DPS archer in the group.
No one objected, as this was the team’s usual loot distribution rule. Even the three guest members—Shura, Blossoming, and Thousand Mechanisms—were familiar with it.
Normally, they would take a break at this point, but being underwater, they had no choice but to keep swimming forward.
They soon passed through a narrow waterway and entered the second cavern. Jagged reefs lined both sides and nestled within the crevices were clusters of pale white eggs. It didn’t take them long to realize—they had just entered the second boss’s lair.
“Be careful. Don’t touch the eggs,” Night Owl warned.
Cautiously, the group waded onto shore and followed the cavern’s edge deeper inside. Before long, they spotted a massive black serpent coiled in the center of the cave. Its scales gleamed dark and sleek, and its head was flat and triangular—clear evidence that it was highly venomous.
Thanks for the early chapter. I hope they can manage their bodies, this abyss dungeon will probably be just as tiring and exhausting as the last one
Thanks for the chapter! Yeah… I would never be able to play this type of games. Might be fun to watch with the crowd in such a realistic mode.
Thanks for the new chapter!
