WYFSDLG Chapter 14

His face fell to the ground

Hearing Long Yin’s shameless words, the other disciples of the Xiān Gōng Sect looked like they had swallowed a particularly bitter fly for a moment, and their faces distorted instantly.

Where… Where on earth did that person come from?!

They never expected that the Demon Lord would be so cheeky. He oh-so-naturally embraced his new identity as an uncle, proudly professing in front of the whole world that he was now also one of Xiān Gōng Sect’s elders, justified to educate unruly disciples.

But what they could have never guessed was that Feng Qingyun didn’t say anything and just silently agreed to the implied meaning in his words. After Mu Hanyang’s second disciple returned to his senses, he couldn’t stand it anymore and said in a loud voice: “Bah! You’re a demon, who’s your nephew?!” After saying that, he seemed to be so angry that he could no longer maintain any sort of decorum, calling Feng Qingyun’s name directly: “If Feng Qingyun dares to leave today, he will defect from Xiān Gōng Sect and fall into the demonic path! Naturally, he will no longer be our uncle!”

As soon as he said that, even Mu Hanyang’s face changed. He immediately turned his head to scold his second apprentice, but before he could say it, he heard a sneer in his ear.

“Really?”

As for Feng Qingyun, he once again chose to ignore all of the drama, showing his obvious disregard for whatever was happening around him. And, truth be told, there was no need for him to intervene either. The disciple who just renounced him turned pale without warning, kneeling on the ground with his sword tightly clutched in his arms. Long Yin didn’t even raise his hand, looking at him coldly, just like watching an ant.

The man covered his Dantian with a harrowing look on his face, no longer acting high and mighty. In an instant, everyone around him felt his realm fall from Foundation Building to Qi Condensation on the spot.

Crossing from one realm to another was as hard as traversing a steep ravine. Reaching the pinnacle of cultivation was hard for everyone, and Foundation Building cultivators could even be called ancestors in some small sects. However, even the smallest sect was full of Qi Condensation beginners.

Therefore, to fall from one extreme to another… If one was not firm in their spirit, they could only watch as their cultivation ended there, plagued by heart demons. The surrounding disciples were horrified to see the fate of their friend, subconsciously retreating for fear of becoming the next unlucky one.

Originally, some other people also planned to come forward at the moment, entirely because they misjudged the situation. Thinking that in the territory of the Xiān Gōng Sect, even if the demon came in person, they could defeat him based on Mu Hanyang’s strength alone…

… But unexpectedly, the leader of the Righteous Path could not even protect his personal disciple, powerlessly watching him fall to the point of almost becoming mortal. Mu Hanyang’s expression was unusually ugly, aware that what was happening was no different from hitting him in the face in public. Everyone was afraid that Lord Mu had never experienced such shame in his life.

“The dignified Xiān Gōng Sect has no rules, and the mountain is full of white-eyed wolves and garbage.” Long Yin never cared about Mu Hanyang’s face anyway, continuing to disgrace him on the spot. “In my humble opinion, if your Master ever comes back, she’ll have no other option but to expel half of the useless people here.” He spoke harshly, but the reality was that no one dared to act rashly in front of him anymore. Such an absurd and shameful situation made the entire group of disciples pale, but no one dared to speak out and defend them. After all, Long Yin was the Emperor of the demon race, and no one knew exactly how high his cultivation really was.

As for the real protagonist Feng Qingyun, he just glanced at the disciples he raised with his own hands. It seemed that as long as no one died, their fates had very little to do with him. And he also seemed to be tired of dealing with those people. In silence, he put away the sword that blocked Mu Hanyang and then raised his eyes to look at the only person who did not accuse him from beginning to end – his younger sister, the little girl who looked at him with tears in her eyes.

And yet, she was the only one who didn’t say a word to stop him.

Her watery eyes seemed to be saying goodbye, torn between feeling sad to see him go and feeling happy to see him gain his freedom. Seeing that, Feng Qingyun’s eyes also turned a little sour but soon enough, he withdrew his gaze, turned around, and finally planned to leave the place he had called home for two lifetimes. Perhaps… From the day his Master ascended, he no longer belonged there.

However, when Mu Hanyang saw his attitude of turning his back on him, his momentum suddenly changed, and all of his cultivation unfolded in an instant. In the middle of the sky, the scorching sun seemed to be frozen by the frost and snow his sword condensed, and the grand ceremony was instantly covered by darkness.

It was the real strength of the leader of the Righteous Path, the sword master Mu Hanyang.

“Qingyun,” he raised his sword and said with a gloomy face that was covered in ice. “No matter what you say today, I won’t let you leave the sect for not even half a step.”

And yet, Feng Qingyun lowered his eyes and said lightly, not showing a single trace of remorse: “But you can’t keep me, Brother.” After saying that, his sword came out of its sheath once again. Since his cultivation was taught by Mu Hanyang himself, the Linshuang sword was also a bringer of frost and snow. Therefore, the sun in the sky looked like the moon for a moment, covered by a gauze-like layer of ice. Without anyone noticing, the two of them took action almost at the same time, so fast that nothing could be seen with the naked eye. Two brothers, using the same sword techniques and harboring the same respect for their Master, fought relentlessly against each other.

In a short moment, they exchanged more than thirty moves. Looking at the Linshuang sword that was so decisively in front of him, Mu Hanyang realized that what Feng Qingyun said was true almost instantly. With their strength, they could only end up in a tie, and there was no way he could prevent Feng Qingyun from leaving. After realizing that, his face turned cold. At that moment, he no longer cared about reputation or what others might say about him, immediately ordering in a stern voice: “Disciples of Xiān Gōng Sect, obey my order and prevent the Second Palace Master from leaving…”

But before the words were out of his mouth, a female voice suddenly rose: “Disciples of the Third Palace, escort the Second Palace Master out of the sect!”

Mu Hanyang suddenly turned his head: “…Ruolin?!”

“What?!” Bai Ruolin’s expression was unprecedentedly serious. She looked at Mu Hanyang without blinking, asking: “Do you want to accuse me of betraying Master as well, Sect Leader?”

The poor disciples of the Xiān Gōng Sect suddenly froze. There were three palace lords in the sect, and at the moment, they were standing against each other in public. For a moment, nobody knew who to listen to, let alone whether to stop Feng Qingyun or help escort him away.

The scene stagnated. However, among those present, it was not the disciples of the Xiān Gōng Sect who had an absolute numerical advantage, but the many guests who were invited to attend the ceremony. Therefore, it was a really good time to earn the gratitude of the biggest, most respectable sect in the cultivation world. Soon enough, some opportunistic soul said: “Master Mu, although this is clearly a family affair of your sect, as righteous cultivators, it’s our duty to punish treason, eliminate evil, and kill demons! Yu Mou is brave and willing to make a little effort!”

The rest of the guests suddenly came back to their senses and followed suit one after another: “This humble Zhang was once saved by Lord Mu, so I’m willing to raise my sword against the demons as well!”

However, as soon as she heard that, Bai Ruolin sneered and calmly countered: “Zhang Daoyou, the medical fee for your treatment was paid by pawning my Master’s Tianxiao sword. The sword she left to my brother, Feng Qingyun. What do you want to do now? Stab your own benefactor?!”

The cultivator surnamed Zhang obviously wasn’t aware of that fact, suddenly becoming speechless. And yet, Bai Ruolin continued to mock him: “I never knew that Zhang Daoyou would turn out to be an ungrateful and blind dog!”

The man blushed and sneered back, screeching: “What does a little girl like you know?! It’s clear that Lord Mu raised you with hard work, but you’re now turning your back on him…!” His mouth was full of rage, acting like he was about to challenge Feng Qingyun alone, but as no one else stood up to back him, he realized he was on his own. Although his mouth said harsh words that sounded like a teacher educating his juniors, his body still retreated slightly, hiding from his position at the front of the crowd in an instant.

Bai Ruolin sneered and stopped entangling with useless people. Then she frowned and looked back at the fight that was still in full bloom. Mu Hanyang, who had always been a reasonable, calm man, seemed to have finally lost his mind. Not even such a disgraceful thing as instigating a group fight was enough to stop him, acting like he was going to stop Feng Qingyun from leaving him at all costs.

After all, even if Feng Qingyun’s strength was comparable to his own, he still couldn’t defeat the entire cultivation world.

But Mu Hanyang missed the most important point.

Feng Qingyun looked at the many magic weapons that suddenly lit up in front of him and the overwhelming spiritual power that attacked him, but he was not anxious in the slightest. Instead, he just straightened his sword and looked behind him, saying: “Your Majesty, please help me.”

Long Yin raised his eyebrows when he heard that seemingly respectful, but still somewhat sarcastic call: “That surnamed Mu didn’t give me a reason to fight. What if I refuse?” He asked, simply looking to gain some favours for himself.

However, Feng Qingyun asked back naturally: “Aren’t you here to get your bride at any cost?” His tone was both overly familiar and relaxed as if he was sure that not only would Long Yin end up joining the fight, but his strength was also enough to defeat everyone present.

Long Yin paused for a second. He knew that Feng Qingyun’s regret was probably just temporary, so he was not really empathetic with him leaving his sect, thinking the man was bound to return to the Righteous Path eventually. However, he didn’t know if it was because of Feng Qingyun’s overconfidence in his strength or something else but… His “bride” asked for his assistance naturally, making Long Yin feel a little dizzy on his feet.

As for Feng Qingyun, he didn’t make a sound, simply looking at him with his beautiful eyes in a silent urging. The frost-blocked sunlight looked very much like moonlight at the moment, covering both his face and the faint look in his eyes.

For a moment, Long Yin felt that Feng Qingyun’s eyes were not looking at an enemy, but more like greeting an old partner he had been separated from for several generations. In the end, he simply withdrew his gaze and raised his hand expressionlessly, in a posture that suggested that he was indeed going to join the battle after all.

Seeing him obediently submit to Feng Qingyun’s not even serious enough urging, several cultivators immediately said angrily: “Demon Lord! If you dare to come to the territory of the righteous, you might not be able to return today!”

However, Long Yin could only sneer: “Are you worthy of that?” After saying that, he just raised his right hand casually, empty of any magic weapons. Then, he pressed down. A terrible burst of spiritual qi suddenly emerged, instantly covering the whole territory of the Xiān Gōng Sect.

The shouting of the audience was immediately swept away, and all sentient beings went silent. The next second, the spiritual weapons under the feet of countless cultivators suddenly turned into scrap iron and fell straight to the ground. In an instant, there was the sound of metal hitting the ground, accompanied by the surprised screams of people.

In fact, it was like a huge slap to the face. In front of a single demon, hundreds of righteous cultivators were rendered useless, making everyone think that in front of real strength, they were all mere ants. That scene should have painted the story of a ruthless and untamed emperor who could rule the entire world with an iron fist but for some reason… When Feng Qingyun held his sword and stood behind Long Yin watching without saying a word, every single one of the Demon Lord’s actions looked just like a male peacock who tried his best to please and impress his mate.

Mu Hanyang’s eyes registered their “loving” interactions in full force, and his expression turned dark enough that one could almost squeeze ink out of it. His face, the thing he valued most in the past, fell to pieces that day, and the sound of it shattering on the ground was heard by the entire world. Just like that, the defeat of the Xiān Gōng Sect was decided, and Feng Qingyun didn’t even bother to look at him again. He simply took his sword and turned around, preparing to leave with the demon.

The back that was about to fade away looked just like the one in his nightmares, and Mu Hanyang finally couldn’t bear it anymore, roaring: “Qingyun! What is it in the demon world that’s worthy of you betraying your family?!”

He was hoarsely looking for an answer, and his question shocked everyone present. Hearing his words, Feng Qingyun paused, thought for a moment, then turned sideways, pointing straight to the person next to him: “The demon world has him…

… And of course, more importantly–” he continued.

“There is no you in there.”

T.N: Sorry for the late update, I have been proverbially “down with the sickness” for the past week or so. I don’t know what kind of virus roams around Europe lately, but it’s vicious.
