DQGTFL chapter 44

Xie Wanzhang did not expect to be involved in this family drama. He and Fu Junlan were only acquaintances, knowing each other but rarely speaking, so when he saw Fu Junlan’s call, Xie Wanzhang’s first thought was – something’s wrong.

And when he answered the call, things got even weirder.

Fu Junlan seriously told him that his obedient, sensible, cute, and well-behaved Xie Wanxing, who had been adorable and obedient since childhood, was dating the trouble-making and chaotic third child of the Fu family.

Xie Wanzhang appeared calm on the surface, but his heart was in turmoil, suspecting that Fu Junlan had lost his mind this morning.

But Fu Junlan was always serious and didn’t seem like someone who would joke around.

After finishing the call, Xie Wanzhang pondered for a few seconds and decided to ask his younger brother what was going on. He still didn’t quite believe it; after all, how could his adorable brother be in a relationship without saying a word? Didn’t he, as the older brother, have the right to know?

But when he asked about it, there was a clattering sound from Xie Wanxing’s end, the sound of a phone dropping to the ground. After Xie Wanxing clumsily picked up the phone, he stammered for a long time without speaking.

Xie Wanzhang’s heart sank instantly; it must be true.

What’s even more annoying was that he heard the voice of a strange man on the phone, asking Xie Wanxing what was wrong, calling him very tenderly and affectionately.

After a brief embarrassment, Xie Wanxing decided to come clean. He hadn’t expected Fu Wenyao’s influence to be so great, going around in circles and eventually letting even his brother know.

Blushing, Xie Wanxing admitted, “It’s true. I haven’t had a chance to tell you guys yet.”

Xie Wanzhang didn’t know what to say. His brother was already this old, so it wasn’t surprising that he was dating someone. As an older brother, he had no reason to interfere.

But he was still worried about him. Although his precious younger brother was still in his first relationship, if he were to get hurt through a break up, wouldn’t he be greatly traumatized?

But as an older brother, he couldn’t be angry with his brother just as he started dating.

Xie Wanzhang swallowed his worries and said lightly, “I see. I was just asking. When are you going to bring him home for a meal? It just so happens that Fu Junlan also wants to have tea with me.”

Xie Wanxing suddenly felt like the phone in his hand weighed a thousand catties.

He and Fu Wenshan had only been dating for a month or two, but it felt like their families were already arranging their marriage?

“In a while,” Xie Wanxing said softly, “I just started dating him, so don’t scare him off.”

Xie Wanzhang’s eyebrows almost disappeared into his hair. Don’t scare him off?

With Fu Wenshan’s nearly 1.89-meter-tall figure and boxing training, who was scaring whom?

But he could only agree tearfully.

Meanwhile, during the time Xie Wanxing was on the phone with his brother, Fu Wenshan finally noticed that he had been removed from the family group chat…

When driving back to Cuhe Bay, Xie Wanxing finally hung up the phone with his brother, feeling powerless as he lay on the car seat.

“Your sister’s mouth is too fast. Now even my brother knows I’m dating,” Xie Wanxing said with a wry smile.

Fu Wenshan was driving, but he also had a lot to say, “only your brother knows from your family, but I suspect Fu Wenyao should have let all my aunts and uncles know by now. Even my cousin sent me a text asking if I’m getting married to a man soon.”

His cousin’s exact words were: “Why didn’t you tell me you like men! If I had known when you were in school, I wouldn’t have introduced you to girls! Hey, when are you getting married? How much dowry is appropriate for two men to get married?”

This cousin of his was also a unique character in their Fu family. He pursued freedom and art at a young age, and most importantly, he had made a name for himself. The only small problem was that he liked to cross-dress.

So much so that Fu Wenshan always felt like he had a female cousin, not a male cousin.

Xie Wanxing looked terrified.

However, they temporarily weren’t ready to meet each other’s families yet, even though both the Fu family and the Xie family were eager to have a meal with their prospective in-laws. After some discussion, they decided to each go back to their own families for the weekend and deal with their own parents.

However, Xie Wanxing had come out in high school, so going home was just a normal meal and chat for him, and he didn’t have much to worry about.

It was just that they didn’t know about Fu Wenshan.

“Did your family know you liked men before?” Xie Wanxing tore open a packet of snacks, curious.

“They didn’t know,” Fu Wenshan said. He didn’t think it was a big deal; he hadn’t mentioned it because he had been single for many years and there hadn’t been a need to. “But my parents probably wouldn’t care. I’ve always been the rebellious type since I was a kid, there were plenty of rebellious things during puberty, unlike my brother, who’s obviously a model citizen, or my sister, who’s at least a girl and cute. I just like men, not trying to change genders. My parents are probably relieved.”

Xie Wanxing almost choked on his snack. He looked at Fu Wenshan and horrifyingly imagined what he would look like if he tried to change genders…

After two seconds, Xie Wanxing’s mind wandered, wondering why he thought Fu Wenshan would still be good looking even if he changed genders.

But it had to be said, Fu Wenshan really understood his parents.

When Mr. Fu first found out that Fu Wenshan’s partner was a man, he wanted to shake his authority and have Fu Wenshan come back for a criticism session before agreeing to his coming out.

But Mrs. Fu quickly suppressed that thought.

“You finally get it, don’t you? Your son’s partner is good enough. The child from the Xie family is outstanding and has a good temper,” Mrs. Fu understood her son better, “Don’t you know what kind of temper your son has? He’s been rebellious since he was young, and there’s been plenty of teenage rebellion. This time he finally entered into a proper relationship. If you still make things difficult for him in this matter, be careful he explodes with his stubborn temper and turns away from you. Then I’d like to see where you’ll find a suitable child-in-law.”

Mr. Fu  thought it over, and reluctantly admitted that his wife’s worries were not unreasonable.

Fu Wenshan had always been relentless in achieving his goals. When he was just in his teens, he was sent to a training camp abroad. Originally, it was meant to scare him, but this rascal fit in like a fish to water, and when he came back, he was even more unruly.

His dad felt helpless.

So when the weekend came, Fu Wenshan drove back by himself to come out to his parents.

Although Mr. Fu  looked fierce, with his brows furrowed so tightly they could catch mosquitoes, and his face showing that he was unhappy, in the end, he just gave a cold snort, didn’t make any comments, and tacitly accepted the matter.

Fu Wenshan whistled in his heart and felt like he was really a love expert. Even his father, who was the most difficult to deal with, yielded without a fight.

If Mr. Fu knew what his third child was thinking, he would probably pick up the chicken feather duster and get back to his old tricks.

Mrs. Fu , on the other hand, was more interested in Xie Wanxing. She had actually met Xie Wanxing a few times, but that was years ago when Xie Wanxing was still in college, wearing a black suit, not as stunningly beautiful as he was now, with a bit of youth and baby fat still lingering, fair and round face, dark eyes, and an especially cute smile.

Mrs. Fu  quite liked him at the time, thinking that she had a daughter, and in a couple of years, she could arrange for these two to meet. But then Fu Wenshan’s sister kept changing boyfriends like she was changing clothes, so she dropped the idea.

But who would have thought that her daughter would have no fate with Xie Wanxing, but her son would bring him back. Well, that was fine. Mrs. Fu thought it over and was quite open-minded about it; the rich soil shouldn’t flow into someone else’s field.
