DL Chapter2

Husband and Wife

After getting off work, Min Zhi went straight back to his parents’ place.

Today, his eldest brother was not in the lab but came back to the house to have dinner with them. His eldest brother was an Alpha, and like him, he did not have a partner yet.

When Min Zhi entered, several people were sitting in the living room talking.

“Father, Mother.”

After greeting his brother, he sat down.

His mother put down the cup in her hand and asked him, “Have you had a physical examination this month?”

“Not yet, I’ll go tomorrow.”

“Don’t forget to proceed.”

His mother had said that the physical checkup was a routine procedure for all unmarried adult Enigmas, conducted every month. Enigmas accumulate pheromones quickly and in large quantities. If not released for a long time, it could negatively affect their bodies, such as losing control of their pheromones or becoming aggressive, driven only by s*xual urges and primal instincts. This checkup was essentially meant to extract the excess pheromones from their bodies to prevent them from engaging in dangerous behavior.

In short, although Enigmas possess great abilities and superior genetics, they are also the most likely to become a threat.

In order to control the Enigma population and maximize their utility, the government mandates that every Enigma who turns twelve years old be sent to the same school. At this school, they undergo even more intense psychological and mental health education than what is provided in regular schools.

Strictly speaking, it was somewhat like brainwashing.

Of course, this was a sacrifice that had to be made for the sake of the entire nation.

Therefore, in a certain sense, Enigmas actually have a much stronger sense of morality than ordinary people.

After the conversation ended, the group fell quiet, returning to their individual tasks without any discomfort. Perhaps this was common in every Alpha household—displays of warmth and harmony were seldom. After all, unlike the Omega and Beta populations, Alpha-dominant groups naturally lacked certain “affectionate” genes.

On the other side, Fu Baiqi had just returned home from the company.

As soon as he opened the door, he saw his nominal Omega wife coming out of the kitchen, smiling at him with a slight curve of his lips. “Baiqi, you’re home.”

Fu Baiqi turned his gaze and nodded, suppressing a wave of frustration. He handed the coat he had just removed to the Omega, but as the man walked past him, he caught a strong scent of pheromones radiating from him.

Fu Baiqi furrowed. “You didn’t take your medication?”

The man hesitated, avoiding Fu Baiqi’s gaze. “I took it…” As soon as the words escaped his lips, Fu Baiqi appeared to relax, walking directly into the room. With a loud ‘bang,’ he slammed the door shut and locked it with two bolts.

The man stood in place, his hands clasped together, a numb, dull pain settling in his heart.

He had always known that Fu Baiqi was dissatisfied with their marriage.

A year ago, he and Fu Baiqi had married through an arrangement made by their parents. Fu Baiqi’s parents both worked in the city, while his own family was from an ordinary household in a small town. By all rights, he should never have been able to marry someone like Fu Baiqi, but by a twist of fate, Fu Baiqi’s parents discovered that he was Fu Baiqi’s fated mate.

The mutual attraction between an A and an O depends on the compatibility of their pheromones. If the compatibility reaches eighty percent, it’s considered extremely high, let alone a hundred percent fated mate.

A highly compatible mate not only aids in controlling both parties’ pheromones but can also result in healthier and superior offspring.

Fu Baiqi’s parents had emphasized this point, forcing the marriage between him and Fu Baiqi. Marrying someone he had only met a few times, with no affection at all, it was no surprise that Fu Baiqi was dissatisfied with the arrangement.

After the meal was ready, he knocked on the study door. “Baiqi, dinner’s ready.”

It took quite a while before Fu Baiqi finally came out of the room.

He sat across from the man, but the man continued to serve him food. Annoyed, he gritted his teeth. When the man extended his chopsticks toward him again, he pushed them away, causing the food to slip off and fall onto the table. The man’s hand holding the chopsticks paused, and he heard Fu Baiqi speak. “There’s no need to serve me.”

“Ok-okay.”

Seeing the Omega silently bow his head, Fu Baiqi knew deep down that his actions were hurtful, but he didn’t dwell on it. The man’s name was Fang Fengzhi, and it was said their pheromone compatibility was a perfect one hundred percent, a rare fated mate. However, Fu Baiqi had never believed in “fate” and couldn’t understand why his parents had insisted he marry this Omega, someone with whom he couldn’t even find common ground with.

He wanted to marry someone he truly chose, not because of pheromones. Being together for the sake of pheromones felt even more suffocating than a shotgun wedding after a one-night stand.

His frustration grew even more, and he suddenly thought back to what had happened this morning. He slammed his chopsticks down. “How many times have I told you not to go to my company? Why don’t you ever listen?”

In fact, he had noticed the Omega waiting outside the company yesterday during the rain. He had barely managed to avoid it, only to find him there again today. Just seeing him there made him even more irritated.

Fang Fengzhi bit the meat in his mouth, his voice soft but firm. “But, Baiqi, you haven’t come home for almost a week, and I can’t get in touch with you either… I’m really worried about you.”

“I’m not a child, why would you need to worry about me?” Recently, Fu Baiqi had reconnected with an Omega boyfriend from his high school days. He had been struggling with how to control the pheromones triggered by Fang Fengzhi, and spending time with his ex-boyfriend felt far more comfortable than being at home.

He took a few bites, not wanting to face Fang Fengzhi’s irritating face any longer. Without looking back, he walked straight into the study. “Don’t disturb me unless it’s something important.”

Fang Fengzhi sat alone at the table for quite a while, his fingers lightly tracing the edge of his plate as he stared blankly at the door.

Around 11 o’clock, Fu Baiqi sat at his desk, his eyes feeling dry and exhausted. Just as he was about to take a break, he heard a knock on the door.

As soon as he opened the door a crack, a strong chamomile scent hit him, causing his heart to skip a beat. He tightened his grip on the doorknob, intending to close the door, but the Omega outside quickly sidestepped and slipped inside.

Fu Baiqi gasped, his eyes fixed on the Omega in front of him, whose flushed cheeks were clearly visible. He spoke firmly, “Get out.”

But the Omega didn’t move. Instead, he hesitated before speaking, “B-Baiqi, Mom called today…” He lowered his head, nervously gripping his pants. “She asked when we’re going to have a child…”

Fu Baiqi gritted his teeth, forcing himself to restrain from pouncing on the Omega. It must be said that pheromones with a high matching value can really drive people crazy, especially Omegas in estrus. Just a light sniff made Fu Baiqi’s p*nis hard. He gritted his teeth and said, “Is this the reason why you don’t take inhibitors?”

Fang Fengzhi was stunned. “No, no…” His body was still trembling as he hurriedly explained, “The doctor said that if I continue to use inhibitors, it may cause pheromone disorders and irregular estrus…”

He squeezed his legs together impatiently and reached out to grab the corner of Fu Baiqi’s clothes. “Baiqi, mark me, please… I really can’t stand it anymore…”

Fu Baiqi clenched his fists. Because of the influence of destiny, he felt that Fang Fengzhi was more attractive than ever at this moment. Fu Baiqi felt his heart beating very fast. He held his breath and dared not look at the Omega’s face again. He grabbed Fang Fengzhi by the collar and threw him out of the door. He didn’t care about the Omega who was still in heat and slammed the door tightly.

He couldn’t have anything to do with this Omega.

Fang Fengzhi barely held himself up against the door, his body trembling with discomfort. The absence of a partner’s pheromones during estrus was unbearable. He slapped the door and pleaded, “Baiqi, please…”

“Baiqi, I feel really uncomfortable. Please, I will take birth control pills. Please let me in…”

Unfortunately, his partner has never been a soft-hearted person. He shouted until his voice became hoarse, but there was no movement from inside the door at all, and he was unwilling to give him even a little bit of pheromones.

He had no choice but to walk to the bathroom with the help of the wall and pour the cold water on the hot body. But even this could not relieve the desire brought by the estrus period. He stroked his member with his hand and inserted his fingers into his back h*le, gritting his teeth and pumping.

His husband had never touched him.

Their first time, they had barely undressed when his husband left. He said his body was too frail and weak, making it impossible to feel any desire.

Later, when his heat arrived, it nearly triggered Fu Baiqi to enter heat as well, but Fu Baiqi still refused to touch him. Instead, he forced him to take the suppressant.

Since then, he had to wear suppression patches whenever he was around Fu Baiqi, and during his heat, he relied on the suppressants to get through it.

He had once fantasized that his husband would be a gentleman, someone who would provide him with enough security to calmly get through his heat without the need to anxiously rely on suppressants that could have negative effects.

But that was completely impossible now.

His husband didn’t like him.

His body trembled violently, overwhelmed by the climax. Yet, the heat in his body refused to subside. The glands burned as if they were being repeatedly fried in a hot oil pan.He forced himself to walk to the bedroom, his gaze fixed on the empty bed. In the end, he took out the suppressant syringe, skillfully inserting it into the vein in his arm and injecting the liquid.
