DL Chapter6

Elevator

The Alpha’s pheromones were nearly overpowering his senses. Fang Fengzhi shifted his gaze to the floor indicator, only to notice that just one button had been pressed.

Same floor? His palms began to sweat, and his cheeks flushed uncontrollably. He trembled, his consciousness starting to blur.

But just then, the elevator doors opened, but there was no one outside.

A sudden gust of wind swept past him, and before Fang Fengzhi could react, the elevator had already come to a stop. The man brushed past him, and the intense rush of pheromones instantly overwhelmed his senses. Fang Fengzhi’s legs gave out, and he slowly slid down, ending up seated against the elevator wall.

He felt like he was on the verge of going into heat.

Min Zhi frowned and strode swiftly toward the stairwell—a place few people ever used, free from any lingering pheromones. He pulled a cigarette from his pocket and placed it between his lips. Leaning against the wall, he bowed his head and took a long, deep drag. For a long while, the overwhelming desires in his body and the chaotic images in his mind slowly faded. Only then did he slightly part his lips, letting the smoke drift out from both his mouth and nose.

The Omega’s pheromones were exactly to his liking. In that confined elevator, it felt as if every inch of space was saturated with his scent, making it nearly impossible to keep his composure. If he had been an Alpha or even a Beta, he might’ve already lost control and marked him on the spot already.

Fortunately, he was an Omega.

Min Zhi’s aversion to Omegas wasn’t because of the nature of being an Enigma—there were even cases of Enigmas marrying Omegas. It was simply a personal preference, like someone having an innate dislike for cilantro. There was no deeper reason behind it.

Of course, no one knows they dislike cilantro until they’ve actually tasted it.

Min Zhi had tried it himself.

Enigma’s pheromones accumulated easily. While regular checkups at the research facility could help release them, the best method was still to have a partner to share the burden.

Unfortunately, it was difficult for Enigma to find a sexual partner. If an Alpha or Beta were to engage with them, there would be a significant risk—possibly even changing their gender and becoming an Omega. As a result, almost no one was willing to date them.

So, Min Zhi had no choice but to look for an Omega.

Not long after he came of age, Min Zhi had once found an Omega. It wasn’t a romantic relationship but rather a chance encounter at a bar. The Omega’s appearance was close to Min Zhi’s type, so the two of them went straight to a hotel.

While showering together, they couldn’t seem to keep their hands off each other, their bodies pressed closely, damp and hot. Min Zhi only released a little of his pheromones, and the Omega already seemed to be about to go into heat, leaning against him with his body limp. His back was soaking wet.

He cried out in pain after only inserting one finger. Min Zhi patiently expanded him, but he didn’t expect the Omega to orgasm with just his fingers. He gazed at the pretty, flushed face and the delicate body leaning into his arms, where even the slightest touch seemed to leave an impression.

The whole room was filled with the Omega’s seductive pheromones, so thick that they choked the nose, but Min Zhi stood up with a cold expression on his face and said, “Sorry, I feel a little unwell.”

Too delicate, he had no desire to continue.

He didn’t like anything delicate, whether it was a docile animal or a human.

That time, it was his mistake, and after that, he never dated an Omega again.

Once his thoughts had calmed down, Min Zhi walked over to the trash can and stubbed out his cigarette in a puddle. He slowly walked back to the elevator. It was quite a coincidence that his brother lived on the same floor as that Omega. However, at that moment, if he didn’t leave, he knew he wouldn’t be able to control himself. His body would naturally react to that Omega, but he would never engage with them in that way. More importantly, that person already had their own Alpha.

Fang Fengzhi returned home, and as soon as he locked the door, he collapsed to the ground, exhausted.

The smell was too strong. It was the first time in his life that he had smelled such a strong pheromone. Sweat broke out on his forehead, and his back h*le was wet and empty. Now the smell was colliding in his body and finally gathered in the glands, grinding it hard, almost grinding out fire.

His estrus period came early.

Fu Baiqi had been away from home for the past few days due to work, and he likely wouldn’t return tonight. Fang Fengzhi barely managed to push himself up from the floor. Now, he needed to find an inhibitor—just one injection, and he’d feel better.

Fang Fengzhi had barely taken a few steps when he missed his footing and fell to the ground.

“Ah…” He propped up his upper body and turned his head to look at his right foot. He must have sprained it. The pain made him dizzy, and he had no strength at all during the estrus period. He usually didn’t have the comfort of his husband’s pheromones and had to rely on inhibitors to block them, which made the heat flashes during his estrus period even more intense.

He no longer had the strength to move.

The phone that fell out of the bag beside him suddenly rang. He stretched out his hand to pick it up, but it was just a spam message. He turned off the phone in disappointment and turned it on again a few seconds later. His ankle was in so much pain that he clicked on the frequently used contacts and called Fu Baiqi.

It rang for a long time, and when he was about to call again, someone picked up the phone—

“Hello?”

Fang Fengzhi hung up the phone.

It wasn’t Fu Baiqi who answered the phone, it was Bai Zhen.

The pain from the fall was unbearable, every part of his body aching. He lay helpless on the ground, unable to sit up. His face was pressed against the floor, which had been trampled, and for some reason, his nose felt a sharp sting, and tears began to flow.

The heat of his estrus was unbearable, and his body was becoming strange. Even the scent of a stranger’s pheromones could trigger his heat. If this continued, what would happen if he suddenly went into heat in a public place?

Tears dripped down his face onto the floor. He felt sorrow, no matter the reason.

Bai Zhen was fortunate; perhaps Fu Baiqi might feel pity and give him a temporary mark. Fang Fengzhi thought to himself that he wouldn’t have to suffer through such pain.

Min Zhi stayed at his brother’s place for the night. The next day, after the new housekeeper arrived, he left. Although the company had started the New Year’s holiday, he still had many things left to handle.

As Min Zhi was leaving, he happened to hear the sound of a door closing next door. He turned around and was surprised to see that it was the Omega.

The Omega seemed a little stunned when he saw him, as though surprised that he was on this floor as well. But soon, Fang Fengzhi came to his senses and gave Min Zhi a polite smile.

Min Zhi looked at the way the Omega was limping and couldn’t help but glance at his foot. His right ankle was wrapped in a white bandage, probably from a sprain.

Omega is just like that, even managing to sprain their foot at home.

They walked into the elevator together, but the embarrassing scene from last night did not happen again because Min Zhi did not smell his pheromones. He glanced at the back of Fang Fengzhi’s neck, where the suppression patch was stuck.

He looked away.

After exiting the elevator, the Omega still walked with a limp. Min Zhi, being much taller, couldn’t help but feel like he was unsteady, as if he might fall at any moment. He originally didn’t want to get involved, but seeing him like this, he felt a strange sense of pity. Given his condition, it seemed like Fu Baiqi hadn’t come home last night. The heat wave from last night was probably suppressed by an inhibitor. Omegas during heat periods are extremely fragile. Without a husband’s pheromones to soothe them, it must be painful. Furthermore, part of the reason for his heat might have had something to do with himself as well.

As he thought this, out of the corner of his eye, he saw the Omega’s body sway, and without thinking, Min Zhi instinctively moved to catch him.

Instead of the expected painful collision with the floor, he was instead enveloped by a firm embrace, filled with the familiar scent of pheromones.

Fang Fengzhi was momentarily stunned, his body steadied by the person’s support. He looked up to see the Alpha in front of him.

“Are you alright?”

“I’m… I’m fine…”

The Alpha’s pheromones were overpowering, but fortunately, Fang Fengzhi had already taken the suppressants. Otherwise, such close contact would have triggered his heat.

Looking at the stunned expression on the Omega’s face, Min Zhi said, “Do you want to go to the hospital?”

Fang Fengzhi was a little confused by his question, “Ah? Right…”

“I can take you there.”

“What?” Fang Fengzhi widened his eyes, then came to his senses, “No, no, I can just go out and catch a ride.” As he spoke, he pushed the Alpha’s hand away, but the man in front of him stood there motionless.

“It’s okay, I’m on my way too.”

He let go of his hand, “Wait for me here, I’ll drive over.” He left without looking back.

He was still a little confused until he got into the Alpha’s car. He didn’t understand why the Alpha was so polite to him. It couldn’t be just because he picked up two fruits for him yesterday, right?
