GHLCS Chapter90

Bite Marks and Blood Draws

Liao Qin was quite fast in snatching people away. Although Jinyan Tang looked like a wealthy mansion, it actually had very few servants and maids. There were only a few people in total, and none of them were very strong.

Not to mention Shen Jingmo, who was blind. They stuffed him into the car in no time and sent him to Hezhou Hospital as instructed by Xiao Yan.

Xiao Yan meant to let the doctor treat the eyes first to see if they could be saved. But Liao Qin didn’t expect that it was easy to snatch him away but difficult to save him.

Shen Jingmo was taken away in a daze at first. He was still confused when he got in the car. He didn’t react until he was pushed out of the car. He was scared, and his face turned pale. When Liao Qin brought him to the hospital, he smelled the pungent smell of disinfectant, and he almost went crazy.

He ran out, but because he couldn’t see, he almost fell down the stairs. Fortunately, his men were quick and caught him.

“Be gentle, be gentle!” Liao Qin was afraid that those people would not be gentle with their strength. “If you guys hurt him, you guys will suffer!”

Shen Jingmo struggled desperately: “Let me go! No… I don’t want to be here… don’t lock me up…”

“We’re not going to lock you up, we’re just having your body checked…”

“Don’t touch me!”

Liao Qin had a headache. This man couldn’t be hit or scolded. If he used force, he would definitely get hurt. In the end, he had no choice but to ask someone to vacate a room to watch him while he went to ask the ghost master to come.

Xiao Yan was playing mahjong with several small hall masters in Hezhou. After hearing what Liao Qin said, he pushed his cards aside and threw all his money on the table: “I lose today. Let’s play another day.”

Then he hurried to the hospital, and the rest of the people stared at each other in amazement.

Outside the top ward of the hospital, several doctors and nurses holding syringes and medicines were still persuading from outside the door, but they stepped aside when they saw Xiao Yan coming.

“What’s wrong with him?”

The doctor said, “He’s extremely agitated and won’t listen to a word. He becomes aggressive whenever we try to approach him.”

Xiao Yan frowned and opened the door. Inside the door, Shen Jingmo squatted in the corner, curled up into a small ball, and his originally lifeless eyes were filled with fear.

When he heard the noise, his shoulders trembled: “Get out! Get out!”

Xiao Yan quickly stepped forward and pressed Shen Jingmo’s shoulders: “What are you afraid of? I just want you to have a checkup. They won’t eat you.”

The voice sounded familiar. Shen Jingmo thought for a moment: “Are you… the person in the alley that day?”

“Yes.”

“Why… caught me?”

Xiao Yan pulled Shen Jingmo up, took him to the bedside, and asked him to sit down: “You will know later.” Then he said to the doctor outside the door, “What are you standing there for? Come in and check!”

Shen Jingmo was frightened and almost jumped up from the bed: “What are you going to do?!”

Xiao Yan held him firmly by the waist, keeping him in his arms and not letting him move. The doctor, sweating anxiously, tried to soothe Shen Jingmo, “Please don’t panic, patient. We’re just going to examine your eyes and take a small blood sample for testing. It won’t hurt, alright?”

“No!” Unexpectedly, after hearing these words, Shen Jingmo struggled even more desperately, almost breaking away from Xiao Yan’s arms. Xiao Yan was originally afraid of hurting Shen Jingmo and did not dare to use too much force, but now he had to let him feel pain.

He was already exhausted by Shen Jingmo’s stubbornness. Locking his arms around him like iron clamps, he forcefully extended one of Shen Jingmo’s hands toward the doctor and sternly said, “What are you standing around for? Hurry up!”

“Oh, oh, oh… yes, yes, yes!”

Although Shen Jingmo couldn’t move, his body was shaking from time to time. He felt the doctor lifting up his sleeves, exposing his arms.

“Hiss…” The doctor gasped.

Everyone saw that Shen Jingmo’s arm, along the arteries, was full of dense needle holes, all black and blue, and it looked very painful.

Xiao Yan’s eyes also instantly widened, staring at him in disbelief.

The doctor hurriedly grabbed a sterilized cotton swab, carefully found a spot on Shen Jingmo’s hand where a needle could still go in, and gently began to disinfect the area.

Shen Jingmo still wanted to escape instinctively, but Xiao Yan locked him tightly. At this moment, Shen Jingmo didn’t have the strength to resist. His body was as stiff as a rock. He bit his lower lip, and when the needle was about to pierce his body, he finally begged out loud.

“Don’t… please don’t… don’t do this…”

Xiao Yan couldn’t stand the sound—his heart felt like it was being clawed at. He shot a fierce glare at the doctor and snapped, “Stop dragging it out. Hurry up!”

The needle went in immediately.

The moment the blood began to flow, Shen Jingmo let out a low, anguished wail. His neck tilted, chin lifted high like a dying swan. The raw, unfiltered fear and pain on his face made it feel less like a simple blood draw and more like his very life was being drained away.

If Xiao Yan hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he would have thrown the doctor off the building.

Perhaps it was fear and anger that pushed him over the edge—Shen Jingmo turned his head and bit into Xiao Yan’s neck. It wasn’t a light bite, but a frantic, delirious snap. His teeth sank deep, drawing blood and tearing flesh, the metallic taste flooding his mouth as though he’d lost all reason.

Xiao Yan frowned, and Liao Qin was shocked when he saw it. He had never seen anyone do such a brazen act to Xiao Yan. Fearing that Shen Jingmo would bite Xiao Yan’s artery, Liao Qin took a step forward and wanted to knock him out.

“Get out!” Seeing Liao Qin’s actions, Xiao Yan glared at him and scolded him coldly.

Liao Qin froze in place, then obediently stepped aside.

Xiao Yan let Shen Jingmo bite him and stroked the back of his head again and again, trying to wipe away his fear and panic. This little pain was nothing. Looking at Shen Jingmo’s appearance, he’s afraid the pain in his heart was much more serious than this bite mark.

It must be so stimulating to force a rabbit to bite people.

The doctor worked swiftly, drawing a small vial of blood before quickly exiting the ward. Xiao Yan pressed on the needle site to stop the bleeding and applied a bit of medicine. Just as he felt the tension on his neck ease, he turned his head—only to find that Shen Jingmo had already passed out.

He wiped the blood from the corner of Shen Jingmo’s mouth: “Why are you so scared?”

Liao Qin thought he was asking him, so he said, “Is he afraid of blood?”

“He can’t even see, how can he faint from blood?”

Xiao Yan gently placed Shen Jingmo on the bed and covered him with a blanket. After a quick check, they both had bruises on their bodies, especially Xiao Yan, who looked like he had been bitten by a vampire, with half of his shoulder covered in blood.

He wiped his neck with a handkerchief without frowning. “Tell Lord Sen about the situation here, and ask him to check the Zhang family again. He can always find out about the missing five years.”

“Yes! I’ll send a telegram to Lord Sen right away!”

Just as Liao Qin was about to leave the ward, one of his men came in from outside and said to Xiao Yan, “Ghost Master, someone is looking for you outside.”

“Who is it?”

“The commander of Hezhou City, Duan Yelin.”
