IRDFPFCIW Chapter 19

Wen Renyuan, Danger

Jiang Tang woke up in the fragrant grass this morning.

He rolled contentedly in his sleeping bag and secretly decided on this morning’s menu: nutritious and delicious fish porridge was definitely the perfect choice for breakfast.

Although a bowl of plain white porridge is extremely simple, it’s the best way to test one’s patience and timing. Jiang Tang added peanut oil to the white rice and stirred it repeatedly to coat each grain with oil, making it easier for the white rice to bloom in boiling water.

Chef Jiang Tang mastered the consistency of the porridge perfectly, ensuring that the rice grains could be seen while still maintaining a refreshing broth.

Next, he sliced the fish and added shredded ginger to the porridge. He stirred gently before adding the fish. Once the fish changed color, he sprinkled in a little green vegetable and salt. He cooked it for a few more minutes. The fragrant and nutritious fish porridge was complete.

Jiang Tang gently stirred the fish porridge. The white rice, tender white fish, and fresh green vegetables created a visually appealing fish porridge that was enticing to the eyes and also delicious.

Drinking a bowl of such rich and nutritious porridge in the morning felt like a comforting pill for his empty stomach after a night of digestion.

Holding the bowl, Jiang Tang took a small sip of the porridge. His eyes narrowed in happiness. In that lazy moment, perhaps Jiang Tang resembled a noble cat.

Just then, a rustling sound came from the nearby bushes, as if someone had accidentally stepped on dry twigs and leaves.

Although the sound was faint, Jiang Tang’s sharp ears picked it up. His eyes suddenly widened as he tilted his head towards the source, only seeing a patch of grass trembling slightly.

After a moment of hesitation, curiosity overcame him. Jiang Tang set down his bowl, grasped his spoon, and tiptoed closer to the bushes.

Wen Renyuan watched Jiang Tang’s movements from the side, quietly sipping his porridge.

As Jiang Tang approached the bushes, the strange sound became clearer. He subconsciously swallowed hard, wondering if there might be a snake in the grass.

He had a great fondness for fluffy creatures but a deep aversion to cold, slippery, hairless animals.

Jiang Tang stepped on some dry leaves nearby, planning to scare away any potential snake lurking in the bushes.

But the noise only paused for a moment before resuming.

Jiang Tang gathered his courage and pushed aside the bushes.

To his surprise, a pure white fox curled up into a ball inside and raised its head to look at Jiang Tang.

Jiang Tang: !!!

He was shocked by the fox’s beauty and froze for a moment. Its snow-white fur was soft and smooth. It somewhat resembled an Arctic fox from his previous life but with a noticeably higher charm.

The little fox looked at Jiang Tang with watery eyes and weakly called out a few times. Jiang Tang’s heart melted instantly.

He crouched down, his voice softening.

“Where did this little fox come from? Are you hurt?”

Jiang Tang couldn’t resist his evil hands that wanted to pet its fur.

When his hand finally touched the soft fur, he felt tears of joy welling up inside: Jiang Tang, you’ve made it! You not only have a cat but now you’re petting a fox! And it’s such a good-looking  fox!

But the fox felt so thin. Its bones could be easily felt beneath the fur.

Where did this poor little thing come from? Jiang Tang felt his heart soften even more, and the thought of taking the fluffy little fox home surged within him. “Baby, why are you so thin? Would you like to come home with me? I have lots of delicious food!”

The little fox seemed to understand, obediently calling out and affectionately rubbing against Jiang Tang’s hand.

Jiang Tang: Wuwu, I’m in heaven.

As he reached out to the little fox, it climbed into his arms willingly.

Jiang Tang excitedly hugged the fox and turned around to go back.

But upon turning around, he found himself face-to-face with Wen Renyuan, who had come to check on him out of concern.

Jiang Tang: …

Wen Renyuan: …

The little kitten’s eyes instantly turned cold.

He stared at the fox in Jiang Tang’s arms with an unreadable expression.

Jiang Tang: …

He felt a twinge of guilt, not knowing where it came from.

Holding a fluffy creature in his arms, he and the fluffy creature in front of him looked at each other.

Jiang Tang: “Ahem… Kitty, what are you doing here? Are you full?”

The little kitten continued to glare at the fox in Jiang Tang’s arms with a displeased expression, its tail drooping.

In his previous life, Jiang Tang had heard from friends who raised several fluffy pets that there should be an adjustment period between the first and second pets, otherwise the two pets would easily fight. The fight would be so fierce that it sometimes even caused chaos in the house.

To be honest, Jiang Tang was already very satisfied to have one cat and he never expected to find a second fluffy companion!

Now being stared at by Wen Renyuan with a look of betrayal, Jiang Tang felt guilty and embarrassed.

For a moment, he didn’t know what to do and instinctively petted the little fox in his arms.

The fox responded with a gentle call and nudged closer to Jiang Tang.

Jiang Tang: !!!

Keep them! He can take care of both! He can afford it!

“Kitty, what do you think? Would you mind having a little brother or sister?”

Wen Renyuan snorted and turned to walk away.

Feeling guilty, Jiang Tang followed him while holding the fox. He kept coaxing, “Don’t worry, you’ll always be daddy’s favorite cub. You’re the big brother in the family! Okay?”

Back at the tent, Jiang Tang served a bowl of warm fish porridge and placed it in front of the little fox.

The little fox rubbed against Jiang Tang’s hand to express its gratitude, and Jiang Tang internally screamed: So good! His second baby is so well-behaved!

After expressing its thanks, the little fox lowered its head slightly and drank from the bowl elegantly.

Jiang Tang watched the little fox drink with his hand resting on his face while keeping an eye on the little kitten next to him, who looked like it might explode from anger and would suddenly jump up and overturn the bowl.

Seeing Jiang Tang’s defensive look, Wen Renyuan couldn’t help but scoff internally. He became even more depressed.

A surge of annoyance rose within him.

What is going on with this person? Is one fluffy pet like him not enough? Why be so greedy!

Don’t think he didn’t notice how Jiang Tang’s eyes sparkled at the sight of the dead fox in front of him, he was almost drooling!

Wen Renyuan secretly assessed the dead fox that was drinking the porridge hypocritically. He noted its size, which was much larger than his own… its fur seemed denser… and petting it would feel even better…

Suddenly, Wen Renyuan felt an inexplicable sense of danger.

He scratched the grass beneath him.

The little fox who was sipping its porridge caught a glimpse of the depressed kitten scratching the ground out of the corner of its eye. He squinted his eyes and smiled slyly.
