IRDFPFCIW Chapter 20

First Confrontation

Jiang Tang held a bowl of specially made fish soup in one hand, while his other hand rested on the edge of the bed. He leaned down and said softly to the kitten hiding under the bed.

“Kitty, are you hungry? Do you want to come out and eat something? I made delicious fish soup for you!”

He looked just like a loving father worried about his child.

This behavior was prompted by the fact that since their last trip to the lake, his beloved cat had suddenly entered a rebellious stage. Now not only did the kitten refuse to let Jiang Tang pet it, but it also seemed to have little interest in food.

Most of the time, he would find the kitten curled up in a ball, appearing withdrawn.

Jiang Tang thought: Wow, it’s like we’ve gone back to the time before liberation overnight.

“Is it because of the new baby in the family?” Seeing the kitten still refusing to interact, Jiang Tang frowned and murmured to himself, “It can’t be, right? Kitty can’t be that petty.”

Wen Renyuan: …

Reluctantly, the kitten crawled out from under the bed. Jiang Tang’s eyes lit up and he placed the bowl of fish soup in front of Wen Renyuan.

“Kitty, try this quickly. I specially made this fish soup for you!”

Wen Renyuan hesitated for a moment, then leaned down to sniff the bowl. The snow-white fish meat soup did indeed smell delicious.

He nodded slightly, thinking that since the young man had given him a way out, as the grand imperial marshal, there was no need to be too serious with a kid.

Just as Wen Renyuan was about to give Jiang Tang face by eating a few mouthfuls of the fish soup, he caught a glimpse of a little fox leisurely nibbling on something nearby.

Wen Renyuan: !!!

The little kitten approached the fox with his short legs. Upon seeing the bowl, he nearly exploded with anger. The fox was eating the exact same fish soup that Jiang Tang had “specially made” for him!

Wen Renyuan turned to Jiang Tang and screamed in frustration.

Unfortunately, Jiang Tang didn’t understand animal language and thought Wen Renyuan wanted the bowl of fish soup that the little fox was eating.

“Kitty, be good. That bowl is for the little fox. You have another one that’s the same!”

Wen Renyuan was about to faint from anger.

Was he asking for “the same”? Wasn’t this supposed to be made especially for him!

The little fox’s ears twitched slightly. It stretched out its paw and gently pushed the bowl towards the kitten.

Then the fox patted the bowl, generously offering to share the remaining half of its fish soup with the kitten.

After that, it turned away as if it was reluctantly parting with something dear. It came over to Jiang Tang and nuzzled against him, then called out twice weakly.

Jiang Tang: !!!

Feeling the fluffy texture in his hands, Jiang Tang’s eyes softened a lot. He looked at the little fox with appreciation and turned his eyes to Wen Renyuan, now filled with a hint of disapproval.

“Kitty, look at you, how can you be so inconsiderate? Even during a meal, you need to let your brother have some. Your brother is so thin, let him eat more.”

The petty and inconsiderate Wen Renyuan: …

He begrudgingly pushed the bowl back toward the little fox, streched out his short hands to pat the little fox’s front paws, and then came back to his own bowl as if resigned to his fate and started eating obediently.

“That’s right.” Jiang Tang said and patted the kitten’s head. This time, Wen Renyuan didn’t shy away.

Jiang Tang watched the harmonious scene of the two fluffy creatures eating together. He reached out to pet one and then the other. As a fluff enthusiast, he felt extremely satisfied. He even suddenly felt a sense of perfection as if he gained a house full of children and grandchildren.

Then Jiang Tang happily went to prepare for his live stream.

As soon as Jiang Tang left, the friendly atmosphere between the two fluffy creatures abruptly vanished.

Wen Renyuan coldly eyed the little fox in front of him who was elegantly licking its front paws. “…Lin Yucang?”

The little fox glanced at Wen Renyuan with an innocent expression, but his mouth moved. The words were anything but innocent.

“I thought the Marshal would take a bit longer to figure it out.”

The little fox that Jiang Tang had brought home, shamelessly mooching food, was indeed Lin Yucang.

Wen Renyuan: …

Among the nobles of the Imperial Capital Star, there was a little-known secret. Only the purest bloodlines and the most outstanding genes among noble heirs possessed the gene to transform into animal forms.

Wen Renyuan recalled that the Lin family in the Imperial Capital Star was known for their fox lineage, so he began to test the waters. It turned out that this little fox was indeed the always smiling Lin Yucang from the Lin family.

It seemed that he had just confirmed his identity.

“Why is the great actor Lin not in the Imperial Capital Star but here? What’s your intention?”

Wen Renyuan frowned, his expression growing colder.

After all, this was a barren planet. It was more than half of the interstellar space away from the Imperial Capital. It wasn’t unreasonable to be suspicious. The sudden appearance of the heir of the Lin family of the Imperial Capital Star in animal form here was undeniably strange.

“Hey, don’t worry. I have no ulterior motives.”

Lin Yucang replied lazily, in stark contrast to Wen Renyuan’s tense appearance.

“I advise you not to have any ideas…” Wen Renyuan frowned.

“What ideas could I have? I just came to mooch some food. Who says it’s only you who can come here to eat and drink for free? The little streamer seems to like me very much now.”

Wen Renyuan: …

Wen Renyuan found himself speechless.

He suddenly realized that after Lin Yucang pretended to be so disgusting in front of Jiang Tang, Jiang Tang seemed to like the dead fox more!

He should have seen Jiang Tang’s true face long ago. Someone who only had eyes for fluff and easily changed affections!

“We’re both here to mooch food. Let’s not laugh at each other for being fifty steps apart.” Lin Yucang said calmly, flicking his fluffy tail.

Wen Renyuan glared at the little fox in front of him, almost seeing Lin Yucang’s annoying and smiling face.

He let out a cold snort.

Claiming to be here just to eat was probably not that simple.

Seeing Wen Renyuan silent, Lin Yucang’s expression grew a bit serious. “You felt it too, right? The energy in the natural food the little streamer made.”

Wen Renyuan glanced at Lin Yucang with a complicated look in his eyes.

He could sense the recovery of his spiritual power, and Lin Yucang certainly could as well.

“Alright, I admit it. I have my reasons for being here.” Lin Yucang shrugged. Since he wanted to maintain a temporary harmony with Wen Renyuan, he needed to be sincere.

Lin Yucang tried his best to appear sincere. “Not long ago, I had some health problems due to certain reasons and developed anorexia. I later discovered through live stream that only the natural food made by the little streamer could stimulate my appetite, so I came here.”

“Now, I’ve found that the natural food the little streamer makes contains a certain energy that seems to have an effect on spiritual power. Since I arrived here, I’ve felt my spiritual power easing and possibly even increasing…”

The more Lin Yucang spoke, the more serious he became. The idea that natural food could enhance spiritual power was indeed absurd, yet it was happening.

So this was the reason Wen Renyuan wanted to stay on this barren planet, right?

“Regardless, we may have to stay here with the little streamer for some time,” Lin Yucang let out a perfect business smile. “Let’s coexist peacefully, shall we?”

Wen Renyuan’s expression was unreadable as he nodded in agreement.

Coexist peacefully? Who knows?
