I Woke Up and Got Married Chapter 39

Chapter 39

The dining room was silent. Qin Suitian already had a good guess about who was on the other end of the call. Just as he was about to find a topic to lighten the mood, he saw the person beside him suddenly stand up.

“Let’s go.”

The tone was flat, but the expression on his face was viciously fierce.

Qin Suitian raised an eyebrow. “Home?”

“Mm.”

Seeing that expression, Qin Suitian didn’t even dare to imagine what sparks would fly when those two met. He hesitated for a moment and said, “How about finishing the meal first?”

A meal would take at least half an hour.

By then, the anger might have cooled down.

“No.” Chi Suinian didn’t even look back as he strode out. “I’m in a hurry to go beat someone up.”

“……”

Chi Suinian was genuinely returning to the Lu family with the intention of beating Lu Zhiyue up.

After leaving Qin Suitian’s house, he didn’t go anywhere else. He drove straight to the villa, a journey that normally took almost an hour, but he made it in half that time.

“Young Master Chi, you’re finally back.” Uncle Zhang, the butler, had been waiting anxiously at the door, pacing back and forth. The moment he saw Chi Suinian, his eyes lit up and he quickly stepped forward.

Chi Suinian closed the car door. “What’s wrong?”

“Mr. Lu is drunk. No one dares to stop him. We’ve all been waiting for you to come back,” Uncle Zhang said.

Chi Suinian paused mid-step.

What did they mean by “waiting for him to come back”?

What was he supposed to do? Tell Lu Zhiyue to stop drinking? Or magically sober him up?

Chi Suinian glanced into the villa. “Why is he drinking?”

Surely he didn’t just get drunk out of the blue.

Uncle Zhang hesitated. “We don’t know the exact reason. We just know he made a phone call and then started drinking. Earlier, when Aunt Chen went to serve the food, she overheard something about a ‘new lover’… Mr. Lu looked pretty down, and after hanging up the call, he asked me to bring out the liquor.”

Chi Suinian: “……”

So in the end, it was his fault?

And seriously—

What was wrong with Lu Zhiyue?

He imagined a whole drama in his head and then drank himself into oblivion to mourn it?

“Where is he?”

“Dining room on the first floor.”

As soon as Chi Suinian entered the dining room, he smelled a faint scent of alcohol mixed with a pleasant cherry fragrance, floating through the air.

For a normal person, this amount of alcohol might just lead to a mild buzz, but for someone like Lu Zhiyue, who couldn’t hold his liquor at all, this was enough to knock out a bull.

There was no one else in the dining room. Lu Zhiyue sat alone in a corner, head hanging low so his expression couldn’t be seen. He was holding a half-finished drink, slumped in his chair, sleeping silently.

Chi Suinian remembered how this man had been pestering him with call after call just a few hours ago—clingy and annoying—completely different from this current state.

He walked through the alcohol-laced air and kicked at the leg of Lu Zhiyue’s chair. “Lu Zhiyue, wake up.”

The person in the chair slowly blinked, pupils still trying to focus. He stared at Chi Suinian’s face for a long time before finally realizing who it was. “…I thought you weren’t coming back.”

Chi Suinian didn’t want to argue with a drunk. He lowered his voice. “Get up. Go upstairs and sleep.”

Lu Zhiyue struggled in the chair but didn’t get up, looking weak and pitiful. “Can you help me up?”

Chi Suinian clenched his jaw. He was about to ask Uncle Zhang to help.

But when he turned around, the people who had been standing around watching the drama just moments ago had all mysteriously vanished.

The whole first floor was empty.

“……”

Were all the Lu family staff this unreliable?

Their employer was this drunk, and no one stayed to help?

Then came a thud—the corner of the table seemed to have hit something soft and vulnerable.

Chi Suinian turned back and saw Lu Zhiyue had bumped into the table, now clutching his abdomen with a blank look on his face.

So stupid.

Clicking his tongue in annoyance, Chi Suinian walked over and yanked Lu Zhiyue up like hauling a sack of vegetables.

Drunk people felt heavier than usual.

Chi Suinian felt like there was a soaking-wet sandbag weighing down on his shoulder.

…Lu Zhiyue usually looked pretty slim. Why was he so heavy?

Uncle Zhang had just finished making some honey water in the kitchen when the dining room door opened. Chi Suinian was dragging Lu Zhiyue upstairs single-handedly, face full of irritation—he looked like he was off to dispose of a body.

Uncle Zhang was startled and about to step in to help—

But then Lu Zhiyue suddenly cracked open an eye, unusually clear, and subtly wiggled his fingers at him.

“…!”

Uncle Zhang immediately understood, turned on his heel, and silently retreated into the kitchen, honey water still in hand.

After much struggle, they finally made it to the second-floor bedroom. Lu Zhiyue reeked of alcohol, completely unaware of his surroundings, while Chi Suinian was drenched in sweat from all the effort.

So exhausting.

Next time, if Lu Zhiyue ever drinks again, he’ll change his last name.

Tomorrow, he’d have all the wine in the Lu family wine cellar thrown out!

Chi Suinian tossed Lu Zhiyue onto the bed and casually pulled the blanket over him.

“How much did you even drink?”

Lu Zhiyue frowned uncomfortably, his dazed eyes looking at him. “Not much, just half a bottle… Aren’t you going back to your new lover?”

“……”

Chi Suinian’s face turned black.

Lu Zhiyue had a special talent for saying just the right thing to make him explode.

Chi Suinian let out a cold laugh. “Of course. I’ll leave in a bit.”

Lu Zhiyue’s eyes dimmed, and his voice dropped. “Then what about me…”

Tonight’s Lu Zhiyue was different from usual—he looked fragile and uneasy. Even now, Chi Suinian still found it hard to believe this man actually liked him.

He stared at Lu Zhiyue’s intoxicated face for a few seconds, walked over to the bed, and looked down at him.

“Lu Zhiyue?”

“Mm…”

Chi Suinian held up two fingers. “How many fingers?”

Lu Zhiyue squinted, trying hard to focus. “Three.”

“……”

Great, confirmed—completely drunk.

Perfect. There were some questions only a drunk could answer.

Chi Suinian pressed his lips together, lowered his body, and grabbed Lu Zhiyue’s sharply defined chin. “Lu Zhiyue, last time you said you liked…”

“Hm?”

Chi Suinian cleared his throat and changed the question. “Who do you like?”

“You.” Lu Zhiyue’s gaze locked tightly on him. “I like you.”

“……”

It was a question half-asked like a joke.

Chi Suinian was completely unprepared for that answer. His fingertips even trembled.

You couldn’t trust a drunk man’s words.

He blinked and asked again, “Who am I?”

This time, Lu Zhiyue didn’t answer immediately. He lay back with limbs relaxed, his dark eyes seeming to hold some quiet and deep glimmer.

Chi Suinian froze. He was about to ask if the man was faking when suddenly he was yanked down by force. His lips were brushed with a hint of alcohol—wet and soft.

“Niannian… I like you.”

“……”

Chi Suinian froze at the head of the bed.

You motherf—…

Then Lu Zhiyue tilted his head again. His hand on the back of Chi Suinian’s waist tightened slightly. He raised his head and kissed him once more.

There was a soft little pop by his ear.

Chi Suinian’s nerves instantly tensed, his neck slowly flushing red.

“……”

Is this never going to end?

His ears burning, he flailed to break free, ready to settle old and new grudges all at once. But the man who couldn’t even sit up earlier suddenly had an insane amount of strength and flipped them both over.

Chi Suinian ended up lying on the bed, firmly held in Lu Zhiyue’s arms.

“……”

“Lu Zhiyue.” Chi Suinian pushed at the iron-like arm around his waist, his expression dark. “Let go.”

“No. If I let go, you’ll run,” Lu Zhiyue said as he tightened his grip.

Chi Suinian was almost crushed and gritted his teeth. “Where the hell do you think I can run to? Get off!”

Lu Zhiyue spoke righteously, “You have a new lover. You’ll go to him.”

“……”

“Did I do something wrong? You don’t like me.”

“…………”

“I even gave you my first time.”

“………………”

Like hell you’re the only one with a first time.

Chi Suinian was nearly driven mad. Fury surged from his chest straight to his head.

But before he could curse the man out, his shirt was lifted, and a scorching palm landed on his lower back like a branding iron.

Lu Zhiyue’s hand was unbelievably warm.

“…What are you doing?” Chi Suinian jolted and instinctively tried to sit up, bracing with his arms. But Lu Zhiyue

held his waist down, applying just enough pressure to stop him.

“Let me hold you for a bit.” Lu Zhiyue rubbed the back of his head and pulled him in tighter. “Be good.”

Be good, your ass.

Lu Zhiyue’s breath gently brushed against his ear, and his palm pressed against bare skin. Chi Suinian felt his heart pounding out of control.

He shoved against Lu Zhiyue’s chest, cheeks flushed. “Let go. Or I’ll beat you to death tomorrow.”

Lu Zhiyue sounded like he was about to fall asleep, his voice low and hoarse. He buried his face into Chi Suinian’s ear and placed a gentle kiss there, murmuring, “Okay… you can beat me later. Sleep first.”

“……”

Lu Zhiyue’s strength was impressive, completely unlike a drunk and disorderly man. He even had one leg pressing down on him. Chi Suinian felt like prey caught by a venomous spider, wrapped tight in a suffocating web.

Damn it.

Chi Suinian was nearly about to explode from the frustration.

And what was even more infuriating was that—despite being in such an uncomfortable position—he somehow started getting sleepy…

“……”

What kind of crappy wine did Lu Zhiyue drink that the smell was still affecting him after so long?

Right before sleep swallowed him whole, Chi Suinian thought: Forget it, not worth arguing with a drunk. I’ll deal with it tomorrow…

·

Chi Suinian slept deeply. The bed was warm, the sheets smelled clean—it was ridiculously comfortable.

If it weren’t for his phone ringing, he could’ve slept for several more hours.

Still half-asleep, he fumbled for his phone under the pillow and answered groggily, “…Hello?”

His voice was hoarse—probably from yelling so much the night before.

“Bro, you’re not up yet?”

Recognizing the voice, Chi Suinian woke up a little more. He yawned. “Something up?”

Chi Yu paused. “You’re probably free today, right?”

Chi Suinian grunted and rubbed his eyes. “Is your birthday party starting?”

“You actually remembered?” Chi Yu sounded delighted.

“Of course I remembered.” His neck was sore, so Chi Suinian rolled over and continued, “I’ll make time to come by. You—”

His nose bumped into a wall.

More precisely, a flesh wall. A warm one. A very warm one.

He looked up.

That flesh wall had Lu Zhiyue’s face on it.

“You’re awake. Sleep well?” Lu Zhiyue was staring right at him.

“……”

“I’ve got something to do, I’ll call you back.” Chi Suinian abruptly ended the call. His expression shifted immediately. “When did you wake up?”

Lu Zhiyue said, “When you answered the phone. Did you sleep okay last night?”

Only then did Chi Suinian realize he was still lying on Lu Zhiyue’s arm. He quickly tried to scoot back. “No. I had nightmares all night.”

Lu Zhiyue raised an eyebrow.

Chi Suinian narrowed his eyes, tone low, “Do you even remember what you did last night?”

Lu Zhiyue replied, “Nope. Why, what happened?”

Chi Suinian: “?”

You forgot?

Even a dog wouldn’t believe that.

Expressionless, he stared at Lu Zhiyue. Then Lu Zhiyue chuckled. “Did I do something to you last night?”

“…No.”

“But you were looking at me just now like you wanted to murder me.” Lu Zhiyue reached up and touched his eyelid.

Chi Suinian slapped his hand away. “I always look at you like that.”

“That’s true.” Lu Zhiyue paused, then gave a light laugh. “But I like it. The meaner you are, the more I like it.”

Chi Suinian: “……”

Confirmed.

This man was mentally unwell.

Face dark, he threw the blanket off and tried to get up. Just as he did, Lu Zhiyue pinned down part of the blanket and suddenly said, “Wait—I think I remember something.”

Chi Suinian: ?

Lu Zhiyue smiled and asked, “Did you kiss me last night?”

“……”

Chi Suinian was genuinely speechless. He could understand drunkenness. He could even understand blacking out.

But for someone’s memory to get this twisted? Lu Zhiyue was seriously pushing it.

Chi Suinian glared. “Like hell I kissed you.”

“No way. I remember it clearly. It was on the bed, just like this. You definitely kissed me. Why won’t you admit it?” Lu Zhiyue pressed.

Chi Suinian’s anger flared. Words flew out before he could filter them: “You kissed me, damn it! I haven’t even settled the score with you, and you’re barking at me?”

Lu Zhiyue froze, then frowned a few seconds later. “That doesn’t sound right. If I kissed you, I wouldn’t have stopped at that. I’d definitely have done something worse.”

Chi Suinian’s heart skipped a beat. He cursed, “Worse how, you psycho?”

Lu Zhiyue glanced at him. “If I tell you, you’ll hit me.”

“……”

Chi Suinian had only asked out of irritation. He didn’t actually want to know what other crazy things Lu Zhiyue had in mind.

His ears turning red, he rolled out of bed and threw over his shoulder, “Say one more word and I’ll tear you apart.”

Lu Zhiyue watched him leave, smiling to himself, stretching with satisfaction.
