After failing to leave Earth, the very first thing Chi Han did was blacklist all alcoholic beverages.
After breakfast in the morning, Chi Han pushed Rong Xu’s wheelchair to the small town’s famous scenic spot—the Flower Pavilion.
Thanks to the hot spring that flowed all year round here, with its high temperature and humidity, the flowers inside the pavilion bloomed throughout the year.
Chi Han took a closer look at the buds on the branches and noticed that they seemed somewhat different from what he usually saw. The stamens had a slightly strange purplish hue, almost unnaturally enchanting.
“Hello, is there anything I can help you with?”
A young male voice cut in. Chi Han turned his head slightly; judging from the clothing, he figured this person was likely the gardener of the flower pavilion.
The young man put away his pruning shears, adjusted his hat, and stood under the flowering branches in his work uniform, wearing a bright, energetic smile.
And yet, it didn’t feel out of place in the slightest.
Chi Han’s mood lightened. Smiling, he nodded and said, “Hello. I wanted to ask—what kind of flower is this? Why is it still blooming now?”
The young man enthusiastically replied, “This is a grafted flower seedling. We draw in hot spring water all year round here, so the temperature stays very stable. Plus, these flowers are ornamental—they don’t bear fruit, so they can keep blooming like this.”
Somewhat sheepishly, the young man scratched his head and added, “Our boss says he hopes every guest who visits can always see this sea of flowers!”
Chi Han smiled, his eyes curving with the expression. He couldn’t help but gently brush a flower bud with his fingers. A soft, delicate sensation traveled from his fingertips up along his nerves.
Looks like when it came time to renovate the garden, he might consider using this type of grafted flower.
Chi Han stroked his chin, but then, on second thought, decided against it.
If it looked exactly the same all year round without any change, what fun would there be in that?
In the Flower Pavilion, all the flowers were blooming in full glory—some nestled low among the shrubs, others blossoming high atop slender branches.
The fragrance of flowers filled both nose and tongue.
Chi Han and the young man stood beneath a branch heavy with buds, chatting and laughing. Their shoulders even bumped against each other from time to time.
Rong Xu lowered his gaze, the corners of his mouth pressed into a straight line. A cold, oppressive aura radiated from him.
Even the flower petals didn’t dare drift near.
Chi Han was only a single step away from him, yet it was a distance just beyond reach.
More than an arm’s length. Even though he was right in front of him, Rong Xu couldn’t touch him at all.
Rong Xu’s gaze slowly shifted toward the young man beside Chi Han, the chill in his eyes sharp as a blade.
Why does he get to stand there?
A completely ordinary face, a smile full of forced friendliness and petty showmanship, and a pair of hands rough with calluses.
Rong Xu’s fingers tightened around the armrest. The beast locked in the cage inside him roared endlessly, wanting to lunge forward and tear that man apart—make him vanish.
But… Chi Han was still here.
Just the two characters of “Chi Han” were enough to force the beast back into its cage.
Chi Han might not like that man, but he liked this kind of idle conversation—liked talking and laughing with strangers.
Even if Rong Xu thought all of it was utterly meaningless, Chi Han liked it.
So he could only stay here quietly.
And wait for Chi Han to turn back and look at him.
Rong Xu suppressed all his emotions, carefully gathering every ounce of tenderness. As long as Chi Han turned around, he would see that familiar smile in his eyes, just like always.
The rest—there was no need for Chi Han to know.
***
In truth, Chi Han was already annoyed. He had come out simply wanting to take Rong Xu for a leisurely stroll, then find a place to chat for a bit and maybe rest his eyes.
He only planned to ask one question, but unexpectedly, this young man could talk so much that even when he stopped asking, the guy just kept babbling on!
“Alright, you get back to your work. My friend and I will go take a look over there.”
Chi Han finally found a chance to slip away.
This person, utterly oblivious to others’ feelings, was terrifying. How could someone have so much to say?!
Seeing Chi Han try to leave, the young man’s eyes showed a flicker of anxiety. He hurriedly said, “Where are you going? I can take you! Just yesterday, the Flower Pavilion received a new batch of seedlings. Do you want to go see?”
Chi Han: “…………”
Did this guy have a filter in his brain? Why couldn’t he understand?
The young man kept smiling on his face, but his eyes greedily scanned Chi Han’s face twice, quickly.
After all these years, this was the first time he met someone who looked exactly to his taste. And anyone who could afford to spend here definitely came from a wealthy family!
If he could get close to this young man, he would never have to deal with dirt and soil again!
He was already bored of the same old scenery every day.
The young man glanced subtly at the boy sitting in the wheelchair beside him.
Although he was quite handsome, he looked somewhat frail and wasn’t the type the young man liked.
After a quick look, the young man shifted his gaze back to Chi Han.
“How about it? I’ve got an insider pass, you know!”
The young man said with a somewhat proud air.
Chi Han: “…”
Is he crazy?
Chi Han’s expression grew a bit colder as he politely replied, “No, thank you.”
He turned around and quickly pushed Rong Xu away, still able to hear the young man calling after him from afar.
Rong Xu’s eyelashes trembled slightly. Pretending to be innocent, he softly asked, “What’s wrong? Weren’t you just having a good conversation?”
Chi Han wore a look that said everything was hard to explain. “A good conversation? You don’t even know how much that guy could talk! I wanted to leave with you ages ago, but couldn’t find the chance to say so. He just wouldn’t stop talking!”
The fierce beast that had been banging against its cage quieted down a bit, as if someone had gently stroked its fur.
Rong Xu paused at Chi Han’s tone of disgust, then slowly lifted the corner of his mouth into a faint smile.
Feigning ignorance, he asked, “Then why didn’t you just say so?”
Chi Han rubbed the tip of his nose. “He’s not a bad guy or anything. Maybe he’s used to being in quiet places all the time, so when he sees people, he just talks too much?”
No sooner had he finished speaking than the sound of light footsteps running up came from behind.
The young man panted heavily, hands resting on his knees, then in the next moment handed Chi Han a carefully arranged bouquet.
All the flowers were from the garden—some budding, some in full bloom, a variety of colors paired with fresh, tender green leaves, stunning beyond description.
Deliberately sprinkled water droplets glistened under the sunlight, casting rainbow-like reflections.
How to put it?
Chi Han had absolutely no desire to accept it.
He just felt this person was so troublesome! And he even chased after them again!
“All the varieties from the Flower Pavilion are in this bouquet. It’s a gift for you! Can you tell me your name?”
The young man showed a smile he thought was incredibly charming.
“He can’t.”
Just as he looked at Chi Han expectantly, an icy voice sounded from the side.
Rong Xu reached out, pulling Chi Han slowly back, his eyes half dark and half mocking:
“Get lost.”
***
In the end, the young man did leave.
Taking his flowers with him.
Thinking about that person’s expression just now, Chi Han couldn’t help but want to laugh.
“Pft.”
Rong Xu glanced sideways. “What’s so funny?”
Chi Han shook his head, trying to hold back a laugh. “Nothing, just funny. Such a talkative person got scared off by you with just one word.”
Rong Xu stared ahead, his tone flat and unbothered. “He was just trying to keep his job. That’s all the ambition he’s got, yet he still dares to come out and casually flirt.”
Looking for trouble, huh?
They came out to enjoy the flowers, only to have their mood ruined for no reason.
After wandering around a bit more, the two prepared to head back.
“Hey, wait!”
Chi Han looked up just as a white-stamen red flower fell. He quickly reached out to catch it. With a sly glint in his eyes, he tucked it right behind Rong Xu’s ear.
Black hair, red flower.
Rong Xu lifted his eyes to look at him, letting him play around.
Though the color was somewhat gaudy, paired with Rong Xu’s cold, aloof face, it only made him seem even more untouchable.
The red petals seemed to carry a chill of their own.
“Beautiful.”
Chi Han sighed sincerely from his heart.
Rong Xu, wearing the flower, didn’t look feminine at all—he looked stunningly handsome!
“Come on, come on, let’s take a photo!”
Chi Han usually didn’t like taking pictures, but seeing this scene before him, his desire to take a photo suddenly surged.
Chi Han, half-kneeling beside Rong Xu, adjusted the angle of his phone.
In the frame, two handsome, refined boys stood amidst a sea of flowers, bathed in sunlight.
Yet, no matter how many flowers surrounded them, none compared to the charm of the single flower tucked by the black-clad boy’s ear.
The boy on the right smiled softly at the camera; the black-clad boy lowered his gaze slightly, a faint smile on his lips, all reserved for the person beside him.
Chi Han didn’t add any caption or edit; he simply uploaded the photo directly to his WeChat Moments.
Geng Xue liked it instantly.
Rong Xu’s assistant quickly followed with a like.
The butler courageously grabbed third place.
Chi Han: “…”
Are these people living on WeChat or what?
They’re all so adorable!!! 🥺
