SDVPP Chapter 64

Confession Wall

After picking up the delivery, Chi Han returned to the dorm and, without much thought, went to sleep. The next day, their major courses were fully packed from morning until evening, not to mention that the last two classes were anatomy.

By the time he finished washing his white coat, it was already nine at night. Only then did Chi Han finally catch his breath.

Suddenly, he remembered that today was his birthday.

Rong Xu had said he was going to give him a gift, but so far, there was no sign of it. Maybe the rehabilitation training wasn’t going well…

While hanging clothes on the rooftop balcony, Chi Han casually took out his phone to check.

As if planned in advance, his phone suddenly vibrated. It was a call from Rong Xu.

He answered in less than half a second, smiling, “Right on time. I was just thinking about you, and the call came. How’s it going? Did you pack yourself up properly? If not, I won’t sign for it!”

The other side was quiet, with only the occasional sound of cars passing by. Somehow, Chi Han suddenly felt something was off.

Why did the car sounds feel so close, right by his ear?

Sensing this, he sharply looked down toward the street, his face full of disbelief.

Their dorm building was on the edge of campus. From the balcony, you could see the road and streetlights outside the school.

At this moment, under the dim streetlight outside the west gate, a tall, slender young man stood with one hand in his pocket, the other holding a phone, looking up at him.

Seeing the person upstairs looking at him, the young man seemed to smile slightly.

“Chi Han.”

At the same time, the cold, clear voice came through the phone. Chi Han, staring at the man below, instinctively took a step back, his hand trembling so much he could barely hold the phone.

Suddenly, someone coughed in the stairwell. It was like the boundary between dream and reality had been shattered. Chi Han turned his head and pushed open the stairwell door, rushing downstairs.

His fingertips were ice-cold.

All the blood surged to his heart, his eardrums pounding with a deafening thud.

It was Rong Xu.

Rong Xu had come back!

That was the only thought left in Chi Han’s mind.

The last shred of rationality in him made him rush back to the dorm to grab his access card.

His roommates were all startled. Yin Hao stared in shock as Chi Han flipped his backpack upside down on the desk, rummaging through it.

He stuck his head out from the top bunk and said, “What the hell happened? Did someone try to kill you while you were washing your lab coat?!”

In his eyes, Chi Han had always been the calmest one. Even during anatomy class when dissecting rabbits, he was the most decisive and efficient.

How could he possibly be panicking like this?

By the end of his sentence, even Yin Hao started to worry.

“Chi Han, did something really happen?!”

Chi Han didn’t have the mind to respond. After finding his access card, he only managed to blurt out a hurried, “Help me sign the room check-in!” before dashing out of the dorm, leaving the three roommates exchanging confused looks.

By the time he sprinted all the way to the west gate, Chi Han felt like his lungs were about to explode.

He bent over, bracing his hands on his knees, panting heavily. Yet his eyes stayed locked onto the person standing beneath the streetlamp.

…Rong Xu.

Chi Han’s lips moved slightly, but no sound came out.

There was only a sudden, aching tightness pressing against his throat, again and again.

He could only watch as that person walked toward him, one step at a time, steady and sure, until he stood right in front of him. Then he opened his arms and, just like a year ago when they parted, smiled and said:

“Chi Han, happy birthday.”

Chi Han stared blankly. It wasn’t until he reached up and felt the dampness on his face that he realized—he was crying.

“I… am I dreaming?”

He lifted his hand to touch the other person, but was pulled into a tight embrace.

The cool, rain-fresh scent that was uniquely Rong Xu wrapped around him instantly. Chi Han carefully, and ever so slowly, circled his arms around Rong Xu’s waist.

Usually, this was the point where he would wake up from the dream.

He gently tilted his face, brushing away the trace of wetness.

The chest pressed against him trembled slightly, and Rong Xu’s voice, lower than usual, rumbled through it.

“You haven’t opened your present yet. Don’t you want to take a look?”

Chi Han’s mind had completely turned to mush. He lifted his head in a daze to look at Rong Xu.

It had only been a year since they last saw each other, but the person before him had already grown a full head taller…

Rong Xu hooked one arm behind Chi Han’s neck and slowly extended his right hand. On his pale, cool jade-toned wrist was a red ribbon, tied into a bow.

No wonder when he saw him from upstairs, Rong Xu had kept one hand in his pocket the entire time.

Seeing that Chi Han still hadn’t quite snapped out of it, Rong Xu lightly shook his wrist back and forth, then lowered his eyes and curved his lips. “Not going to unwrap your present? What a shame, the shop doesn’t take returns.”

The tilt at the corner of his eyes made him look just like a snow lotus on a mountaintop—pure and cold as jade, yet that little flash of red in its center added an inexplicable allure.

Chi Han, as if under some kind of spell, reached out and held the loosened ribbon. It was still faintly warm. A sudden thought flashed through his mind.

He wanted to keep this ribbon for the rest of his life.

The smile in Rong Xu’s eyes hadn’t faded for even a moment. He rubbed the back of Chi Han’s neck and asked, “Have you eaten yet? Want to grab dinner together?”

Given the situation, even if Chi Han were stuffed to bursting, he’d still say he hadn’t eaten without hesitation.

He had just followed Rong Xu for a few steps when he suddenly snapped out of it and blurted, “Your leg…”

Rong Xu smiled, opened the car door, and gestured for him to get in. After getting into the driver’s seat and starting the engine, he said gently, “It’s pretty much healed now.”

In just a year, Rong Xu had not only stood up again, but he had even learned to drive.

Yet he never once mentioned how much pain or hardship that must have cost him.

Every time they video-called, Rong Xu always appeared at his best. All those dark moments, all that suffering—he seemed to have completely cut them out of the picture.

Chi Han turned to look at his sharply defined profile and pressed his lips together without saying a word.

At a red light, Rong Xu came to a stop. He looked at Chi Han and smiled lightly. “What’s wrong?”

Chi Han sniffled and lowered his head to look at his own hands, then said softly, “No, I just thought about your past year… and it made my heart ache a little.”

Rong Xu’s eyes suddenly dimmed. He was just about to say something when the traffic light turned green.

He took a deep breath and slowly started the car.

Before long, the two of them arrived at a luxurious hotel. Rong Xu handed the car keys to the valet and pulled Chi Han along as they walked inside.

He had booked the entire top floor.

The rooftop restaurant had already been fully set up. All kinds of food were spread across a long table, and the entire floor was covered with thick, soft carpeting. Coupled with the carefully arranged lighting and decorations around the room, every detail spoke of thoughtfulness and care.

When Chi Han stepped onto the carpet, it felt like he was walking on soft, sticky cotton candy. It instantly dispelled all the cold from his body.

Through the massive glass windows, the entire night view of the city was visible.

The lights were dazzling, brilliant, and beautiful.

Knowing that Chi Han didn’t like feeling restrained, Rong Xu had everyone retreat and personally took care of him.

“Here, try this…”

Rong Xu peeled the shrimp shell, meticulously removing the meat and placing it on Chi Han’s plate.

Chi Han, giving him face, finished everything.

As for Chi Han’s preferences, Rong Xu had already figured them out long ago. Everything on the table tonight was tailored to suit Chi Han’s taste.

The two fed each other back and forth. By the time the meal was over, even the last trace of unfamiliarity between them had completely vanished.

Chi Han stretched lazily, a slight mist of natural moisture gathering in his eyes.

“Tired?”

Rong Xu casually tossed aside the napkin he’d had on his lap and reached out to wipe away the tears at the corner of Chi Han’s eyes that had formed from yawning. “Come on. I’ll take you back to the room to rest.”

It wasn’t until he was sitting on the bed and had yawned several more times that Chi Han suddenly realized something.

In the luxury suite Rong Xu had booked… There seemed to be only one bed.

Although, to be fair, the bed was pretty big…

“What’s wrong? Not used to sharing a bed with someone? Then I’ll sleep on the sofa outside.” Rong Xu, fresh from a shower and toweling his hair dry, spoke in an extremely calm and considerate tone as he headed toward the door.

How could Chi Han possibly let Rong Xu sleep on the sofa? No matter how big a sofa was, it couldn’t compare to a bed in comfort.

Besides, Rong Xu’s leg had only just recovered. What if he caught a chill at night?

“No, no, it’s totally fine to share. The bed’s big anyway.”

Rong Xu didn’t even pause his stride. He turned right around and came back, as if he’d been waiting to hear those exact words.

Chi Han: “?”

Chi Han: “…Forget it. Let me take a look at your leg first.”

Chi Han insisted on checking. Rong Xu, half helpless and half content, rolled up the leg of his pajama pants, letting him examine it as he pleased.

Chi Han crouched down, inspecting it carefully. The once slender legs were now evenly toned and strong. The long calves had faint outlines of muscle visible beneath the skin, giving off a sense of power.

He couldn’t help but reach out and touch them. The skin beneath his palm was noticeably warm.

There had been a time when Rong Xu’s legs stayed cold all year round. No matter how much warmth was applied, they never heated up.

Chi Han finally relaxed completely and casually helped Rong Xu pull down the leg of his pajama pants.

When he looked up, he noticed that Rong Xu’s expression seemed a little off.

Startled, Chi Han quickly asked, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?”

Rong Xu seemed to be suppressing something. His hands, which had been resting on his knees, slowly unclenched. His smile remained as gentle as always. “I’m fine. Go take your shower. It’s getting late.”

Only after confirming several times did Chi Han head into the bathroom.

Once the bathroom door closed, Rong Xu finally let himself fall back onto the bed, raising a hand to cover his eyes.

Back when his legs hadn’t healed, he could still keep himself in check. But now…

The sensation of Chi Han’s touch on his legs just now lingered. The moment he recalled it, Rong Xu felt like all the blood in his body was rushing upward.

He was going crazy.

Rong Xu turned onto his side and rested his head on the hoodie Chi Han had tossed onto the bed. He took a deep breath, trying his best to calm down.

Just then, he noticed that Chi Han’s phone, also left on the bed, still had its screen lit up. On the screen, a few glaringly bold words stood out—Confession Wall.

Rong Xu hadn’t intended to pry into Chi Han’s privacy, but the words “Top Scholar Chi” and “Campus Heartthrob Chi” caught his eye and held his attention.

[Another day of confessing to Campus Heartthrob Chi! ❤️❤️❤️]

[Does anyone have Chi Han’s □□? Please DM!!]

[Wuwuwu, failed at confessing to the campus heartthrob again…]

[Chi Han is way too handsome. Even a random blurry pic looks this good! Image.JPG]

Rong Xu: “……”

A moment later, he chuckled—but the smile didn’t reach his eyes.

Why were there always so many people, so recklessly unaware of their place, daring to covet his precious treasure?

Meanwhile, Chi Han turned on the shower and rinsed the foam from his hair, instantly feeling much more relaxed, completely unaware that just beyond the bathroom door, a storm of jealousy was already brewing.
