ALWARFC Chapter 63

This immersive escape room is also being streamed on the show’s official app. Although there wasn’t enough time for promotion beforehand, the moment it went live, it immediately drew in a flood of attention. Very quickly, the livestream room was packed with viewers.

Unlike the courtyard-style live broadcast, the script murder side of things is divided into dozens of surveillance perspectives. Though the cameras shoot from above, the video and audio quality are extremely clear. Plus, viewers can freely switch to whichever perspective they want to watch—super convenient.

Right now, most people are focused on the viewpoint centered on Great-grandfather.

【They finally got the scripts. Is it all going to be deduction from here on out?】

【I don’t think it’ll be all deduction. That handsome DM is clearly itching to stir up trouble, hahaha. Though in the end, he’s obviously gonna get obliterated by great-grandfather.】

【Whoa, Sister Yao and Wen Ye are here, too! But it looks like they don’t know they’re being streamed… I’m dying laughing.】

【Damn, I have the same question as Wen Ye. How is great-grandfather allowed to mess with Director You’s head like that? Are you two actually for real?!】

【Only our silly, innocent Sister Yao is still naïvely shouting, “Don’t look at people through rotten-filtered eyes!”】

But in truth, compared to the netizens who were shipping and joking around, Su Anyao was clearly the one who really knew the CP was real. You think she didn’t want to ship it? She was shipping it like her life depended on it. The moment she saw Director You nuzzle into great-grandfather’s palm, her mind instantly conjured up 108 imaginative, passionate “beautiful man gets ravished by bad dog” scenarios in exquisite detail.

She just couldn’t say anything, okay!

As a loyal devotee of great-grandfather, she had to shoulder the grave responsibility of guarding the metaphorical closet doors and keeping everyone else from discovering the truth. Su Anyao felt like she was working so hard. She was emotionally exhausted for the sake of her one true CP.

Yet not only did great-grandfather fail to understand her well-meaning intentions, but he even looked at her in confusion. “You finished reading your script already?”

“Oh—oh! Yeah, I did.” Su Anyao snapped out of it and lifted her script a little sheepishly to show him. “Mine’s a short story, not as thick as yours.” Her script was only five pages long.

As she spoke, she cast another glance from afar at Su Weisheng’s script. That thick stack looked like it had at least fifteen pages. It must contain a huge amount of information. No wonder great-grandfather was taking so long to read it.

According to the rules of the script murder game, each player has their own identity and backstory. The script in their hands cannot be shown to anyone else, but they are allowed to selectively share the information they know and discuss it with others.

At the same time, since players are naturally divided into different factions, everyone needs to find teammates they can trust, work together, and deal with enemy players in order to win.

But for now, their current objective was still to find all the players and escape the underground labyrinth together.

Only after flipping to the last page did Su Weisheng set his script down. He turned to the others, who had already finished reading, and took the initiative to suggest, “How about we all share the information we’ve got?”

Although none of them had much experience with script murder games, they were familiar with the basic process, so no one objected.

Su Anyao was the first to speak. “My name is A-Ye. I grew up relying on my older brother, just the two of us. Later, my brother was killed and eaten by a ghoul. To get revenge for him, I started searching everywhere for traces of ghouls, which eventually led me to this old castle.”

Wen Ye and Li Lang also briefly shared their own background stories, which were similar to Su Anyao’s—they had all come here because they had some kind of grudge against ghouls.

Su Weisheng turned to look at You Sui.

You Sui raised an eyebrow at him with an unreadable expression. “I’m a ghost hunter, specializing in hunting ghouls. I came here because I heard something strange was going on in this castle.”

Su Weisheng gave the thick script in You Sui’s hand a faint glance. “That thick of a script and all you’ve said is just a few sentences? You’re hiding quite a bit of information.”

You Sui didn’t deny it and smiled with narrowed eyes. “Maybe I’m just a guilty thief who’s afraid that saying too much will give something away.”

Everyone looked at him warily. Honestly, Director You really didn’t look like a good guy. If someone claimed he was actually the ghoul hiding in this game, people might believe it more easily!

Su Weisheng didn’t give a clear response. He casually placed his script on a nearby table, organized his thoughts, and began to summarize: “Based on the information we have so far, this world is divided into three factions: ordinary humans, ghouls, and ghost hunters. Ghouls prey on humans. Humans can seek the protection of ghost hunters, and ghost hunters are tasked with killing ghouls. However, even though ghost hunters seem to be at the top of the food chain, that doesn’t mean they don’t have weaknesses. But of course, now’s not the time to get into all that.”

“You three came here seeking revenge. You Sui and I are ghost hunters. As for the chainsaw NPC and the female ghost we encountered earlier in the labyrinth, they should be ghouls. Based on that, we can infer that they’re likely working with the owner of the castle. Right now, we’re basically turtles trapped in a jar.”

Everyone nodded in agreement with his analysis.

Wen Ye sighed, “So we’re starting off in a losing position, huh. The final boss has got to be Grant then, right?”

“Very possible,” Su Weisheng responded as he was already moving. “Let’s go. We need to find the remaining four players. After all the noise we made, they should’ve heard us.”

The group instinctively followed after him without even realizing they had already handed the reins over to Su Weisheng and were now following his lead.

The lights in the labyrinth corridor flickered on and off. Every now and then, a cold gust of wind rustled their clothes with a soft whoosh. The group continued forward along one side of the hallway when suddenly they looked up, and in the distance, a white-clad female ghost was staring straight at them with blood-red eyes.

Wen Ye let out a startled cry. But when he blinked and looked again, the ghost had already vanished into the shadows. Faintly, they could still hear a thump, thump, thump echoing in the air.

Everyone was still shaken. “They keep watching us in such creepy, unpredictable ways. It’s honestly terrifying!”

“It’s intimidation, but also a way of pointing the way,” Su Weisheng said calmly. As he spoke, he walked straight in the direction where the female ghost had last appeared. It led to a dead end, with nothing but two pitch-black stone rooms sitting side by side at the end of the path.

There was no cell signal, but their phones still worked for lighting. They turned on their flashlights and cautiously peeked inside. All they saw were stone tables and benches—otherwise, the rooms were completely empty. No hidden compartments could be found.

Li Lang, who hadn’t wanted to come in the first place, immediately spoke up when he saw this. “See? Didn’t I say so? You guessed wrong. The female ghost was just trying to scare us. She wasn’t giving us directions. You all were just overthinking it. Come on, let’s try a different path.”

Su Weisheng glanced thoughtfully at the two stone rooms, then suddenly pointed and gave instructions to Wen Ye and Li Lang: “You two—one of you go sit in the room on the left, the other in the room on the right.”

What? Go in alone and sit down?

Director Li immediately objected, “Why should I go? If you think something’s wrong in there, you go sit!”

Su Weisheng gave him a look and said calmly, “Wen Ye can be swapped out, but you have to go.”

“Why?!” Li Lang demanded.

You Sui answered for Su Weisheng with a smile in his eyes, “Because you’re fat. Only your weight will work.”

Li Lang’s face immediately turned green.

Online comments:

【Hahahaha I’m dying at that reason】

【Damn, I think great-grandfather and You Sui have already figured out how to unlock this stage. Their teamwork is insane.】

【Does it actually work though? Or are they just messing with their teammates on purpose?】

No matter how much they resisted, in the end, the two of them still gritted their teeth and walked in.

From the room on the left, Li Lang shouted, “I’m sitting! Nothing’s happening! You better not be screwing with me!”

Wen Ye, from the right room, called out, too, “I’m sitting down, too! Still no reaction! If this doesn’t work, let me out!”

Su Weisheng calmly lifted his eyelids and said, “Wait. Don’t move. If you try to get up, I’ll just tie you both down and leave you fixed in place.”

That one line, full of quiet menace, froze both of them in place right on the spot. They didn’t dare budge.

Suddenly, a loud thud came from inside the stone house. Su Anyao, who was standing outside, was startled and shivered. Inside the stone house, Li Lang and Wen Ye instinctively let out a shout and immediately ran outside. But Su Weisheng and You Sui’s eyes lit up, and without hesitation, they walked in.

Everyone else raised their flashlights and followed in. They saw that two walls of the stone house suddenly shifted out of alignment, and a hidden stone door slowly opened.

They were all dumbfounded. Good grief, is this some kind of lever mechanism?

“What? It really requires players to have one person sitting in each of two pitch-black rooms; only then will the hidden door open?” Wen Ye was very frustrated. “Who designed this? This is way too cruel!”

The most ridiculous part was that You Sui and Su Weisheng, with just one glance, immediately caught the designer’s sinister intent, showing that their nature had a lot in common with the designer.

Though they were grumbling and cursing, the three little lambs still obediently followed behind the two big bosses and walked through the hidden door. Behind it was yet another pitch-black stone house.

They shone their flashlights around, saw nothing scary, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Su Anyao asked, “Great-grandfather, how do we get out now? What kind of mechanism is this time?”

As soon as they were away from danger, Li Lang immediately relaxed and then stubbornly said, “It’s not that scary.”

Su Weisheng glanced at him indifferently but didn’t refute him. Instead, he slowly sat down on the stone bench at the table. “Maybe it really is like that—everyone needs to sit around in a circle to clear the level.”

The others, already tired, saw this and also sat down one after another. Su Anyao touched the stone table and was surprised to feel a velvet texture. Unexpectedly, this stone house had even been specially decorated with a tablecloth. Could it be the NPCs’ usual rest room?

Li Lang was the last to sit down. Without any danger, his contrarian nature surged again. “I think what you said is wrong. It can’t be that simple. You can’t play the same trick twice. If you ask me, this level probably requires…”

“Requires what?” The others, seeing he hadn’t finished, asked curiously. But under the dim flashlight beam, Li Lang was already frozen stiff, sitting completely still in his original spot.

What’s going on here? Wen Ye wanted to reach out and pat him, but suddenly felt a chill on his ankle. Instinctively, he looked down and saw a long-haired female ghost poking her head out from under the tablecloth, her blood-red eyes staring fixedly at him.

“Ghost!!!”

“Holy crap, help! Aaaah—!”

The three little lambs were so scared they ran around the stone house in a panic, squealing uncontrollably, and finally huddled together, trembling.

Only You Sui and Su Weisheng didn’t move.

Su Weisheng didn’t run because he calmly lowered his head. He looked at the hand gripping his ankle, and then very composedly reached out, roughly pushed aside the ghost’s messy, long hair. He firmly grabbed her chin and lifted it to see her face clearly.

The three little lambs in the corner stared in shock at his behavior.

The most ridiculous thing was that Su Weisheng not only tore off the ghost’s disguise, but also smiled and patted her cheek, pulling her out: “Su Zhaocai, are you stupid? With such a lame disguise, you still expect to scare Great-grandfather?”

The male ghost was still lying under the table, tilting his head back, locked in a wide-eyed stare-down with Su Weisheng, his whole expression completely dumbfounded and unable to think properly.

The three little lambs: ???

They suddenly sat up straight, grabbed their flashlights, and shone them forward. Damn it, the ones scaring them were not NPCs disguised as a female ghost, but fellow players Su Ran and Lu Huanjin.

Lu Huanjin alone scared three players out of their minds.

Su Zhaocai was unlucky to grab Great-grandfather’s ankle and ended up getting completely trampled instead.

Wen Ye was speechless, “Are you two crazy or what? How can you still dress up as ghosts to scare people?”

Su Ran was even more speechless than him, tearfully and emotionally complaining as if he just couldn’t accept reality: “I was caught by those NPCs and taken into their base camp to be scared for a whole hour. Afterwards, they even said it was ‘ghost training’ for me. I finally finished the training and thought I could hold my head high, so how did I get caught again so quickly?”

Lu Huanjin was also puzzled: “Great-grandfather, I’m not surprised you noticed us under the table, but how did you recognize it was the two of us in just one second?”

Su Weisheng looked at him with disdain and said, “Because only you two stupidly ran right up to me to get yourselves killed. The other NPCs just want to avoid me whenever they see me.”

Su Ran: ???

Lu Huanjin: ???

You Sui tried to hold back a laugh: “Guess why those NPCs don’t come themselves but instead send you two out to scare us?”
