EMSD | Chapter 52

On the screen the girls face is fair and radiant her eyes curved like a lake under the moonlight.

She seemed to be deliberately imitating Yan Qing’s usual appearance, creating a sense of awkwardness from trying too hard.

“Did you need something from me?” Tong Yang asked.

“Sister Tong Yang, are there any other people around you?”

“No.”

Chu Shiyu paused for a moment, looking at her with dissatisfaction.

“Then let me introduce myself. I’m Yan Qing from the parallel world. I’ve heard a lot about you.”

Upon hearing this, Chu Shiyu’s expression turned surprised, and she held her breath.

“Is that so?” Tong Yang remained unfazed. “Who told you?”

Tong Yang’s attitude was consistently vague, not directly responding to the implications in their words.

Yan Qing said, “You’re quite famous in our world; there’s no need to ask others.”

Tong Yang leaned back in her chair, looking a bit lazy. “Just say what you need. I don’t have time to play games with you.”

“Sister Tong Yang, please don’t be anxious. I’ll tell you right away.”

“Okay, go ahead.”

Tong Yang was curious about what they were trying to sell her.

“Sister Tong Yang, do you know that many people in the parallel world want to kill you?”

Tong Yang retorted, “Do you think I should know?”

Yan Qing paused for a moment and said, “You should know, right? Do you know why they want to kill you?”

“Should I know?” Tong Yang still didn’t directly answer their questions.

Yan Qing frowned and turned her head to look at Liang Xi, who was off-camera.

Tong Yang asked, “Liang Xi said you needed my help. What is it? Tell me, and I might consider it.”

“Um…” Yan Qing hesitated for a moment. “I can’t say it directly. How about you take us to the parallel world?”

Tong Yang raised her eyes, looking at the girl on the screen, pausing for a few seconds before asking, “Did you finish the homework I left you during the day?”

Yan Qing’s expression turned guilty as she stammered, “You left so much! How could I finish it in one day…”

Suddenly, her voice trailed off, and her expression turned fearful. “You, you…”

Tong Yang chuckled, “Is it fun?”

The camera shook left and right, and soon, two panicked faces appeared on the screen.

Yan Qing exclaimed, “How did you recognize me?”

“Guess.”

“How would I know!” Yan Qing’s face turned red.

Tong Yang reminded her, “Do you want to see who I was video calling?”

“Weren’t you calling me… What the hell? You called me?!” Yan Qing was shocked as she flipped her phone around. “Did you guess it during the day?”

Tong Yang snorted, “What do you think?”

“No wonder you didn’t answer our questions about the parallel world!”

“Parallel world? What’s that?” Tong Yang pretended to be confused. “I thought it was just your prank.”

Chu Shiyu rolled her eyes at her off-camera, pretending.

However, when the other party introduced herself on the phone, she really thought it was someone from the parallel world.

How did Tong Yang figure it out?

“Sister Tong Yang, how did you figure it out?”

“I thought you believed it already…”

Yan Qing and Liang Xi shared the same confusion.

Seeing their puzzled expressions, Tong Yang generously explained, “If someone from the parallel world wanted to meet me, they wouldn’t need to go through Liang Xi to convey the message.”

Chu Shiyu thought for a moment and nodded, “That makes sense.”

Since they could travel through space, if they wanted to see Tong Yang, they could come directly to find her, even though there was an eighty percent chance they would be killed.

“Why are you asking about these things? How do you know about the parallel world?”

Yan Qing and Liang Xi exchanged glances and said, “Sister Tong Yang, we really met someone from the parallel world.”

“Oh? When?”

Yan Qing said, “We met a friend in fifth grade who often played with us in the neighborhood. Then one day, she suddenly disappeared. We asked many people in the neighborhood, and they all said they didn’t know her; she didn’t exist at all. Over time, Liang Xi and I thought she was just someone we imagined.”

Tong Yang propped her chin up and asked, “And then? Why do you think of her as someone from the parallel world now?”

“Because on August 29th, we saw her again.”

Tong Yang frowned slightly, “Saw her again?”

Yan Qing nodded, “Yes! After our school exams, we went to the nearby library to buy materials and suddenly saw her.”

“I was almost forgetting her name and appearance, but she took the initiative to greet us and brought up old times. She said she came from the parallel world, and if we didn’t believe her, we could ask you!”

“Ask me? Why?”

Yan Qing said, “She said many people in the parallel world want to kill you.”

“And then you believed her?”

“No! How could I easily believe her and doubt you!” Yan Qing said firmly. “I don’t believe in the existence of parallel worlds, so I searched a lot of information online and found several rumors related to the parallel world in Remote City, as well as the case of Ye Wen’s disappearance in Shuangbai District. All these things are related to you!”

“Isn’t that a coincidence?”

Tong Yang laughed, “What a coincidence, so much so that even I thought it was a parallel world.”

“Huh?” Yan Qing was stunned. “What do you mean? Aren’t these things from the parallel world?”

“Does it have anything to do with you? If you’re bored, just do a few math problems. If you increase the amount of practice, it will be easier in the future.”

“Isn’t that from the parallel world?” Yan Qing asked.

“It has nothing to do with you. If you meet that person you mentioned again, don’t interact with her and try to stay in crowded places.”

Yan Qing blinked, “Sister Tong Yang, is there really a parallel world?”

“Guess.”

“Is what she said true? Did you really kill many people from the parallel world, so they want to kill you?”

“Why are you asking so much?”

Yan Qing turned to Liang Xi, and then flipped the camera around, revealing a strange face on the screen.

The girl had pale skin, with a six-centimeter-long old scar on her forehead, ruining her originally gentle features.

“Tong Yang, hello, I’m Meng Xiao from the parallel world.”

The girl sat on the other side of the tatami, one hand propped on the table, the other playing with a silver knife that looked menacing.

The sharp blade reflected white light, casting a reflection on her sickly pale, eerie face.

“I said I’d call you, and they would naturally believe it, but it seems you won’t admit it.”

Tong Yang narrowed her eyes and asked, “Where are you?”

Yan Qing’s voice came through, “In a Japanese restaurant.”

“Is the door open?”

“It’s open, why?”

Yan Qing said, “Sister Tong Yang, do you have any concerns that you can’t say? Don’t worry, this is my dad’s restaurant; there’s no one else here.”

“Is that so?” Tong Yang’s tone was indescribable. “Eating comfortably with someone of unknown identity, should I say you’re naive or foolish?”

Meng Xiao’s eyes curved as she laughed, “Teacher Tong, how can you say that? Although it’s been years, I was also a friend who played with them.”

She raised the knife to her face as if tasting delicious food, extending her tongue to lick the blade. In a moment of carelessness, she cut herself, and blood dripped from the corner of her mouth to her chin, one drop, two drops falling onto the table.

Yan Qing and Liang Xi were probably stunned by this scene, holding their phones in a daze, not making any sound.

The girl curled her lips, swallowing all the blood in her mouth, casually wiping the corner of her mouth, the crimson liquid staining the lower half of her face.

“You…”

After a long pause, Yan Qing finally spoke, trembling.

Tong Yang looked at the steady camera and sighed imperceptibly, saying, “What are you waiting for? Hurry and run.”

“Ah…”

The girl, still licking the blood from the corner of her mouth, had a gaze filled with aggression as she suddenly stabbed the knife into the table. With a clang, she released her grip, revealing a mouth full of blood-red teeth.

“What the hell…”

“Help, help…”

The sound of “thud thud thud” came from the phone, followed by the camera shaking as if it had fallen from a height, finally freezing on the brown ceiling.

“Help!”

Yan Qing and Liang Xi’s cries for help echoed from the phone, and Tong Yang was speechless. Now they thought of running? Hadn’t she warned them clearly enough before?

After the image froze for a long time, a blood-smeared face appeared in the frame.

Meng Xiao didn’t rush to chase after them, staring at the camera for a long time before bending down to pick up the phone, aiming it at the backs of Yan Qing and Liang Xi as they fled in a panic.

The Japanese restaurant was in a man-made small garden, and just as Yan Qing said, there was no one else there besides them.

Meng Xiao held the phone, pulled the knife out of the table, and leisurely chased after them.

Tong Yang wasn’t worried about Yan Qing and Liang Xi’s safety and asked, “What do you want to do?”

If the other party wanted to harm Yan Qing and Liang Xi, there was no need to wait until now after they had talked to Tong Yang.

“I’m asking you for help, or I’ll kill them.” Meng Xiao’s voice carried a hint of chill, not sounding like a negotiation.

Tong Yang remained calm, “Are you threatening me? With two insignificant lives?”

“Yes, I am threatening you.” Meng Xiao answered decisively, as if she was sure Tong Yang wouldn’t refuse.

Chu Shiyu stood off-camera, signaling her with her eyes, asking what to do and whether to call the police.

Tong Yang slightly shook her head at her and said to the person on the phone, “You can try.”

“As you said, people from the parallel world want my life. If anyone can be used as a threat, my end should be very tragic.”

“They are your students.”

“So what? The one who kills them is you; what does it have to do with me?”

The other end of the phone fell into silence, seemingly weighing the truth of Tong Yang’s attitude.

“If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up. If we meet again, I will take revenge for them.”

“Wait.” Meng Xiao interrupted her actions, “I won’t kill them; I want to talk to you.”

She flipped the camera around to focus on her face.

“Tong Yang, I want to ask for your help.”

Tong Yang smiled lightly and said, “This is the attitude one should have when asking for help. I will consider it.”

“Are you willing to help me?” Meng Xiao’s pupils widened, revealing a hint of disbelief.

“Tomorrow at nine in the morning, meet at the café one hundred meters from the west gate of Peking University. Don’t be late.” Tong Yang paused for a moment, “You can get there by yourself, right?”

Meng Xiao wiped the blood from her face and nodded, “I can.”

“Get yourself cleaned up by tomorrow. I won’t negotiate with a madwoman.”

“Got it.”

“Put the phone back and leave.”

“Okay.”

After saying that, Tong Yang actively hung up the phone.

After holding back for a long time, Chu Shiyu finally had a chance to speak, shocked, “You just hung up like that? Aren’t you afraid she will harm those two girls?”

Tong Yang pulled out Liang Xi’s number and called, saying, “She needs something from me; she’ll behave.”

“You trust her that much?”

“I’m not trusting her; I’m trusting my own judgment.”

“She didn’t come to find me herself; she wants to use Yan Qing and Liang Xi to force me to help.”

“What does she want you to help her with?”

Tong Yang shook her head, “Not sure; I’ll find out when we meet tomorrow.”

After the call connected, Liang Xi’s voice was very low, “Teacher Tong, we’re fine; we’ve hidden.”

Tong Yang said, “Don’t worry about it; what happened just now was just me playing with her.”

Yan Qing’s trembling voice said, “You’re talking nonsense! I’m not an idiot; how could that be just playing with us!”

Tong Yang didn’t bother to explain to them, “Believe it or not, just don’t think about those things. I haven’t heard of the existence of parallel worlds.”

Tong Yang didn’t want to involve them; the less they knew about the parallel world, the better.

“Really?”

“Hung up; she left her phone on the seat and went back to get it.”

Yan Qing and Liang Xi were still a bit hesitant, and Tong Yang didn’t give them a chance to ask questions, directly hanging up the phone.

Then, she entered “Water Friends Eating Melon 007” and inquired if there had been any strange incidents in the capital recently.

[It seems there hasn’t been anything lately; what’s up?]

[Did something happen again? I want to apply for a live broadcast!]

[Tong Jie, you should buy a phone case that can hang around your neck, and next time we can watch the live broadcast!]

[I searched; there hasn’t been any special news in the capital these days, but we can’t rule out sudden changes.]

Learning is for making money: [Please keep an eye out for any news changes and call me directly.]

Learning is for making money: [Okay, I’ll buy one; next time there’s a chance to live broadcast, the membership fee is 100.]

[Got it!]

[Suddenly a bit excited about what’s going on.]

[(Rubbing hands) Hope the next time comes quickly! Just the sound is no longer enough for me.]

Tong Yang didn’t chat much, ending the conversation to continue reading.

Half an hour later, Yan Qing sent her a message saying she had retrieved her phone and still insisted that Meng Xiao was from the parallel world, and that Tong Yang must know about the parallel world, even boasting that she would find evidence to make her admit it one day.

Tong Yang thought for a moment and replied: [If you want to die, keep pursuing this matter.]

Yan Qing: [Sister Tong Yang, will we really die?]

Yan Qing was a person with a very small heart who only responded to hard pressure; if you were soft with her, she would become more aggressive, but if you were hard with her, she wouldn’t dare to make a sound.

[You will die very tragically.]

Yan Qing: [You said Chinese people don’t deceive each other.]

[Get lost.]

Yan Qing: [If you don’t want to say it, then don’t be fierce.]

Tong Yang ignored her and closed her phone to continue reading.

At eleven o’clock at night, Tong Yang closed her book and turned to see Chu Shiyu slumped in her chair, looking exhausted.

“What are you doing?” Tong Yang asked in confusion.

Chu Shiyu glanced at her weakly and said, “Tong Yang, you’re really something. Aren’t you tired from studying for so long?”

Tong Yang replied, “It’s fine; I’m going to sleep.”

After saying that, Tong Yang burrowed into her bed, pulling the curtain, her movements smooth and quick.

Having followed Tong Yang’s pace of studying all day, Chu Shiyu felt as if her body had been emptied. Fortunately, she had already washed up, so she could just turn over and go to bed.

In the early morning light, as the dew rose with the sun, Tong Yang went out for her morning run as usual, wearing sports headphones to listen to English tapes, and on the way back, she conveniently bought breakfast for both of them.

At that time, Chu Shiyu was still snuggled in bed, not yet awake.

“I brought you breakfast; eat it while it’s hot.” Tong Yang placed the breakfast on their respective desks and then went into the bathroom to take a shower. After coming out and finishing her own breakfast, she left the school.

As the start of school approached, more and more students were in Peking University. It was unclear whether the recent trending events had not completely faded, but on the way, she encountered two students who recognized her and wanted to take a photo, which Tong Yang ruthlessly refused.

Arriving at the café near the west gate of Peking University, there weren’t many people in the shop at nine in the morning, and Tong Yang quickly spotted the girl sitting in the corner.

“I’ll have a coconut latte.”

“Okay, please wait a moment.”

After placing her order, Tong Yang turned and walked toward the corner seat.

Meng Xiao looked up at her, having tidied herself up quite well, but the scar on her forehead was very noticeable, making it hard to ignore.

“When did you arrive?” Tong Yang sat down across from her and casually asked.

Meng Xiao gazed at her with deep eyes and said, “An hour ago.”

“There’s not many people now; just say what you want to talk about.”

Meng Xiao sat in her seat, a cup of untouched coffee in front of her, and said, “I want to ask you to save my sister.”

“Your sister? Who is she?”

“Meng Ting.”

Tong Yang asked, “What happened to her?”

Meng Xiao said, “Someone needs her bone marrow for a trade.”

The word “trade” made Tong Yang’s brows furrow.

“With whom?”

“With people from the real world.”

Tong Yang tightened her brows, “Wait a moment.”

After saying that, Tong Yang returned to the front desk to book a private room for an hour.

Taking Meng Xiao into the room, the waiter brought in the coffee.

“Please explain in detail.” Tong Yang said.

She recalled what Dr. Luo from Bureau 749 had once said, that the parallel world had already established connections with the foreign black market.

Meng Xiao said, “You probably don’t know, but in order to successfully integrate into the Shadow World, people from the main world are already trying to find ways to contact you. The least noticeable places are those not controlled by the state.”

“To please you, the main world has started to supply you with expensive human organs for free. A wealthy family has paid a high price to buy suitable bone marrow and guarantees that there will be no rejection. My sister has been chosen by them.”

Tong Yang pondered and asked, “Is the person who needs the bone marrow the real-world Meng Ting?”

Meng Xiao nodded, “Yes.”

“But your sister’s bone marrow should also have issues, right? After all, they are two people from the same parallel world.”

“That’s right, but in the main world, we are just ordinary people following orders, so…” Meng Xiao gritted her teeth, a hint of hatred showing on her face.

Tong Yang took over her words, saying, “So your sister has become a sacrifice for contacting the real world?”

“Yes.”

Tong Yang twirled her finger around the rim of her cup, thoughtfully saying, “They plan to use gene drugs to cure your sister’s illness and then send the healthy bone marrow to the real-world Meng Ting?”

“You even know about gene drugs? Yes, the Meng family in the Shadow World has a very strong influence abroad. If we can win them over, it would be a good thing for the main world, but for you, it would be a disaster.” Meng Xiao clenched her fists, “For the safety of the Shadow World, you must help me.”

Tong Yang didn’t immediately respond to her words, continuing to follow her train of thought, “You clearly have gene drugs and could directly give her the medicine. Why go through all this trouble?”

“I guess… the side effects of the gene drugs are very severe?”

Tong Yang wanted to gather as much information as possible.

Meng Xiao said, “Gene drugs are divided into inferior and superior types. Inferior gene drugs can alter the genes in the body, killing all harmful cells, but using them will greatly shorten one’s lifespan; superior gene drugs have no side effects, but only the upper class can use them, and the manufacturing process is extremely difficult.”

“They don’t care about my sister’s life and will definitely use inferior gene drugs on her, cure her illness, and then let the healthy bone marrow flow into the Shadow World. If this continues… my sister will have at most one month left to live.”

The more she spoke, the more evident her disgust became. “Clearly, we have already done so much for them; why can’t they let my sister go!”

Compared to her emotional fluctuations, Tong Yang remained much calmer, showing no signs on her face, but her mind was pondering one thing.

“As far as I know, when people from both worlds die, their bodies will return to their respective worlds within two minutes. Even if you send the human organs over, won’t they still disappear in the end?”

Meng Xiao shook her head, “Only if they die in the other world will their bodies disappear.”

Tong Yang was taken aback, “So, if the organs are removed, as long as your sister dies in the parallel world, the organs entering the real world won’t disappear?”

“Yes, the body won’t disappear even if it’s taken to the Shadow World after death.”

Tong Yang’s fingertips dug into her palm, “Is there any other way to prevent the body from disappearing?”

Meng Xiao, needing something from her, naturally answered without holding back, “Organs.”

“In your words, if a person from the real world replaces their organs with those of a parallel world human, their perception of space will become confused, and no matter which world they die in, they won’t disappear.”

Tong Yang’s expression grew more serious, “Conversely, if a parallel world person replaces their organs with those of a real-world human, their body won’t disappear after dying in the real world?”

“Yes, that’s correct.”

If that’s the case, then Ye Tianlin, who fell to his death at Hailin International School, might not really be a person from the real world?

No, he fell to his death in the parallel world, and his body returned to the real world…

No! No! Ye Tianlin did not fall to his death in the parallel world!

When he fell, they heard the sound of his body hitting the ground, indicating that he had already returned to the real world before falling.

If the one who died was the parallel world Ye Tianlin, as long as he had the organs of a real-world human in his body, his corpse wouldn’t return to the parallel world.

Moreover, Ye Huai has congenital heart disease, which has a very high hereditary probability, but Aunt Bai and Ye Wen do not have heart disease…

Tong Yang lowered her gaze, deciding to ask Ye Huai about it after leaving here.

Perhaps his background isn’t that simple.

“So, what do you want me to do to help her?” Tong Yang asked.

Meng Xiao’s eyes were filled with resentment, “I want you to kill the Meng Ting from the Shadow World. As long as she is dead, my sister won’t be threatened.”

“Not happening.” Tong Yang flatly refused.

After talking so much with her, Meng Xiao thought she would definitely agree, but upon hearing her answer, her expression froze for a moment, confused, “Why?”

“I don’t kill people.”

“You don’t kill people? Haven’t you killed many people from the parallel world?”

Tong Yang took a sip of her coffee and said, “To you, the parallel world is human; to me, it’s just a dangerous species. If your purpose in saying all this is to make me kill the real-world Meng Ting, I’m very sorry, but I won’t help you.”

Meng Xiao’s face turned cold, “What do you mean?”

“Literally. If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving; I still have books to read.” Tong Yang pretended to get up.

“Tong Yang! Do you think I wouldn’t dare to kill you?” Meng Xiao angrily slammed the table, standing up and pointing at Tong Yang.

Tong Yang looked at her lightly, “You can try.”

“However, instead of killing me, why don’t you go kill the real-world Meng Ting? I have no reason to stop you.”

The deal between the parallel world and Meng Ting’s parents would only bring her harm, but even so, Tong Yang wouldn’t sacrifice herself to kill someone.

“Do you think I haven’t thought about it? If I kill her, both my sister and I will be killed! Otherwise, why do you think I came to ask for your help?”

Tong Yang said, “I won’t help you kill.”

Meng Xiao gritted her teeth and said, “I have another way that only you can do.”

“Oh? Tell me.” Tong Yang became interested, guessing that things weren’t that simple. If killing the real-world Meng Ting could solve this matter, she could easily find someone else to cooperate with; there was no need to go through the trouble of contacting Tong Yang, which would be counterproductive.

Meng Xiao took a deep breath, “You go to the parallel world and kill my sister, then bring her body back to the real world.”

Tong Yang was astonished, “Are you crazy? Do you want your sister to die or to live?”

Meng Xiao said, “Not really kill her.”

“Put on a show?”

“Yes, it’s not a secret that you frequently enter the parallel world and conduct investigations. You can pretend to stop the transaction between the parallel world and the Meng family, kill my sister as the item of the transaction, and after her death, bring her body back to the real world. If you do this, almost no one will suspect you.”

“You don’t plan to let your sister fake her death and live in the real world, do you?” Tong Yang pressed her lips together, her gaze sharp.

Meng Xiao pursed her lips and said, “I know you won’t agree. My dad and I have already prepared a hiding place for her in the parallel world; she will definitely not be discovered. So you just need to cooperate with us to put on a show.”

Tong Yang thought for a moment, “No, I would be at a loss. Once the news of killing your sister spreads, it would ruin the black market transaction, and I would become the target.”

At that point, not only would people from the parallel world come after her, but even those tied to the industry chain would see her as a thorn in their side, especially the Meng family.

Meng Xiao said, “That’s right, but if you do nothing, their transaction will gradually grow stronger. The Meng family’s influence internationally is very large. Once their transaction succeeds, it will be an irreparable loss for you.”

“You should know how to dismantle the parallel world; once the upper class gets a taste of the benefits, you will be completely finished!”

“Even if your existence limits the parallel world from entering the real world, two fists can’t fight four hands. You can escape once or twice, but do you know how many people from the parallel world want to kill you?”

Tong Yang fell into thought. While being able to enter the loop was indeed her trump card, the reason for the loop was the time anchor and time displacement. Over this period, the flow rate of time between her and the other people in the melon-eating group had been increasingly widening and was continuously increasing. Perhaps in a few years, she would completely catch up with the others.

The important thing was that once the time displacement disappeared, she would no longer be able to enter the time loop.

The real time left for her was only a few years.

If she couldn’t completely resolve the parallel world during this time, both she and the real world would face dire consequences in the future.

Meng Xiao didn’t know about the existence of the time loop but inadvertently hit the nail on the head.

“Tong Yang, as long as you are willing to help me, I will tell you all the information I know and can also secretly help you. Of course, the premise is that you must agree to let my sister and my mom stay in the real world.”

Tong Yang silently looked at her, clearly realizing that the current situation couldn’t be resolved by her alone.

“When is the transaction?”

“Three days later, on September 5th.”

Tong Yang nodded, “Give me a day to think about it. I’ll come back here to find you at the same time tomorrow morning.”

“No problem.”

After parting with Meng Xiao, Tong Yang immediately called Officer Lin.

“Tong Yang? Is something wrong?” Officer Lin’s tone was surprised.

Tong Yang got straight to the point, “Contact Dr. Luo; I have very important things to tell them, and I need to meet with them today.”

“Today? But…”

“It must be today!”

Officer Lin hesitated for a few seconds, knowing that Tong Yang was definitely not a reckless person, and replied, “I understand. I will convey it to them.”

“Thank you.”

After hanging up the phone, Tong Yang quickly called Ye Huai.

As long as they entered the parallel world, Ye Huai was indispensable. Although Meng Xiao could take them in, if discovered, the outcome would definitely be tragic, and her existence might be very useful later on.

So Tong Yang didn’t plan to let her take risks for now.

“Miss Tong.”

On the phone, the other party’s voice was still cold.

“How’s your health recently?”

Ye Huai paused for a moment and said, “It’s fine, thank you. But you didn’t call just to ask about my health, right?”

“Yes.” Tong Yang replied, “Given your current health condition, how long can you last without a respirator?”

Ye Huai said, “I no longer need to wear an oxygen tube; there’s no problem as long as I don’t do strenuous exercise.”

“Do you have the medicine?”

“I do.”

“You said you would do your best to cooperate with me and wouldn’t go back on your word, right?”

Ye Huai seemed to chuckle lightly and said, “Yes, I won’t go back on my word.”

“That’s good. This afternoon or evening, I need you to go to the Shuangbai District Public Security Bureau. Do you have time?”

“I do.”

“I’ll contact you again once the time is confirmed.”

“Okay.”

On her way back to the dormitory, she called Xu Junyue.

Xu Junyue always complained about being bored, and as one of the few informed people, plus her combat skills were up to par, having her around as a helper was not a bad idea.

“Hey? Tong Yang? You actually took the initiative to call me? That’s rare! Usually, I call you, and you don’t answer!”

Tong Yang ignored her sarcasm and asked, “Has your old Xu been strict lately?”

“Very strict, why? Do you need something from me? I probably can’t go out these days; let’s talk later.”

“Then forget it.” Tong Yang didn’t waste time talking to her and was about to hang up. “I’m hanging up.”

“Wait! You haven’t said what it is yet! You tell me first, and I’ll consider whether it’s worth the risk to sneak out.”

Tong Yang said, “I want to go to the parallel world and need your help.”

“Sure! Can I kill anyone? I mean those dirty things from the parallel world.”

“Not allowed.”

“Oh… Where are you? I’ll come find you.”

“Aren’t you afraid of your old Xu?”

“Ha! What’s there to be afraid of? The parallel world is way more fun.”

“Alright, I’ll wait for you at the west gate of Peking University; just come over.”

“Okay! Twenty minutes!”

After hanging up the phone, Tong Yang found a spot to sit and wait for her.

What Meng Xiao said made sense, but following her plan, Tong Yang would still be at a loss.

Even if she disrupted the transaction between the parallel world and the Meng family, the parallel world still had superior gene drugs in their hands. If they were pushed too hard, they could directly give the gene drugs to the Meng family, and their cooperative relationship would become even stronger.

So just putting on a show to “kill” Meng Ting wouldn’t work; she needed to find a way to prevent them from continuing their cooperation. This was something Tong Yang couldn’t do alone; she needed to cooperate with Bureau 749.

Twenty minutes later, Xu Junyue with pink hair appeared on time at the west gate of Peking University.

“Let’s go! Are we going now?” Xu Junyue rushed over, urging her.

Tong Yang glanced at the time; Officer Lin wouldn’t reply that quickly, shaking her head, “No need to rush.”

Xu Junyue sniffed like a little dog, asking, “Just the two of us?”

“Not just us.”

“Isn’t Chu Shiyu coming with us?”

Tong Yang said, “She’ll go back to the dormitory first.”

“Got it.”

Since there was still time, Tong Yang took Xu Junyue back to the dormitory.

At that time, Chu Shiyu had already gotten up and finished eating.

“Junyue? What are you doing here?”

Xu Junyue rested her hands behind her head, inspecting the place like a leader on a tour.

“This so-called prestigious school isn’t much different from an ordinary school.”

Chu Shiyu laughed, “It really isn’t that different.”

Tong Yang glanced at Chu Shiyu and said, “We’re going to the parallel world; it’s quite dangerous. Do you want to come?”

Having experienced so much, Chu Shiyu was no longer the weak girl who couldn’t even hold a knife steady.

“Since it’s so dangerous, I certainly can’t stand by and watch!” Chu Shiyu crossed her arms, speaking with confidence.

“Wow! A heroine! With you here, we will definitely return safely!”

“Hahaha…”

Tong Yang didn’t know what these two were excited about but didn’t want to dampen their spirits.

Actually, she could seek Officer Lin’s help, but Tong Yang was worried about encountering unexpected situations. She needed to enter the loop to resolve things and didn’t want the police to know. Moreover, since Chu Shiyu and the others had gone through several experiences with her, they would definitely cooperate more seamlessly.

As for Ye Huai, that strange person probably wouldn’t care even if he knew all of Tong Yang’s secrets.

Before noon, Tong Yang finally received a reply from Officer Lin.

“Tong Yang, Dr. Luo and the others will arrive at the Public Security Bureau at nine tonight. Is that time okay?”

“That’s fine.”

“Then see you at nine tonight.”

“Okay.”

Tong Yang turned to inform Ye Huai of the meeting time, and he replied with a “good.”

“What is so mysterious that you can’t tell us directly?” Xu Junyue asked curiously.

Tong Yang sat at her desk, using her phone to search for information related to the Meng family. Strangely, there wasn’t much news about them in the country.

Tong Yang said lazily, “I don’t want to say it a second time; I’ll tell you all tonight.”

Chu Shiyu asked, “Is it related to the girl from last night?”

“Yes.”

Xu Junyue looked puzzled, “Who? Who?”

“You don’t know her.”

“Cut it out.”

In the evening, the three of them picked up Tong Le and Yang Lin from school. After dinner, they sent them home and then took the subway to the Shuangbai District Public Security Bureau.

When they arrived, there were still fifteen minutes until nine, and Officer Lin led them to the meeting room from that day.

“Have you eaten?”

“Lin Jie, we have.”

“Good, I’ll pour you a glass of water; you can go in first.”

Pushing the door open to enter the meeting room, they were surprised to find two people already inside.

“What the hell! Are you blind? You can even misfire your first skill!”

“Newbie! Newbie! Shut up!”

Tang Shuyan, the half-baked Taoist, leaned on the sofa playing games, passionately arguing with her teammate.

Ye Huai, wearing a black sweater, made his skin look as white as snow, completely absorbed in a promotional brochure from the Public Security Bureau, ignoring everything around him.

“You’re here? Make yourself comfortable.” Tang Shuyan greeted without looking up.

Ye Huai put down the brochure and nodded at them.

“Aren’t monks supposed to be honest?” Xu Junyue teased.

Tang Shuyan replied nonchalantly, “I’m not a monk, and he asked for it; I’m just fulfilling his wish.”

“Are you sick? Full health and still eating my health pack?”

“Be careful; tonight I’ll cast a spell to curse you to lose ten matches in a row!”

“What are you doing here?” Tong Yang stepped forward to ask.

The last time she met with people from Bureau 749, Tang Shuyan was also present.

“I said I’m an external staff member. Dr. Luo asked me to come; there might be something I can help with… Give me the red!”

Tong Yang didn’t ask further; Dr. Luo had his reasons for bringing him along.

Tong Yang pulled out a chair and sat down, glancing at Ye Huai, saying, “You look much better.”

Ye Huai nodded, “Yes, so I won’t hold you back.”

Tong Yang didn’t expect him to say that and laughed, “It’s fine; if you hold me back, I’ll just leave you behind.”

Ye Huai didn’t mind, instead nodding, “Killing me is also fine.”

“How has Ye Wen been lately?”

After that, she hadn’t seen Ye Wen again and didn’t know how he was doing.

Ye Huai lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on the reflective table, saying, “He dropped out of Hailin International School and is now in an ordinary public school.”

“After Ye Tianlin passed away, he was very sad, often crying at home. Mom advised him several times, but it didn’t work, so they just let him be. Because of Ye Tianlin’s incident, he was bullied at school a few times, and he fought back, paying some medical fees.”

Tong Yang paused for a moment, originally wanting to ask him about Ye Tianlin, but perhaps this wasn’t the right place, so she didn’t continue.

After nearly twenty minutes, Dr. Luo and the others finally rushed in.

Officer Lin and Director Zhao also entered the meeting room.

Everyone took their seats, and all eyes focused on Tong Yang.

Tong Yang didn’t keep them in suspense and got straight to the point.

“This morning, I met with people from the parallel world.”

“I plan to temporarily cooperate with her.”
