Chapter 007 The Young Master – “Are you going to protect it now?” (07/35)
The meal was quite enjoyable.
If someone had told Du Yi before that eating a meal with someone could change his impression of them, he would have scoffed.
But now, Du Yi was surprised to find that his impression of the young master had actually changed!
The young master was a bit clumsy and naive, but he was good-looking and had no ulterior motives, making him easy to get along with.
Of course, the most important thing was that he knew how to eat. Watching the young master eat was a pleasure in itself.
He ate with such infectious enthusiasm, his expression of enjoyment and his happy smile were enough to make anyone’s appetite soar.
Du Yi ended up eating more than usual, and when he turned his head, he noticed that Wen Xusheng had also eaten more than usual.
Instantly, Du Yi’s gaze toward the young master softened considerably.
You see, Wen Xusheng’s appetite issues had been causing Du Yi a lot of headaches.
Wen Xusheng had just wrapped up filming for a crime drama where he played a character with anorexia. Wen Xusheng has always been very strict with himself, and even for a supporting role, he insisted on perfection.
Originally, Du Yi wasn’t worried. Wen Xusheng wasn’t a new actor; and he’d won countless awards. If he could get into character, he could certainly deliver.
But…
Wen Xusheng didn’t just lose his character, his eating habits also took a nosedive. Du Yi tried to ask him about it indirectly, but he couldn’t get anything out of him, which was very troubling.
Just a small cameo role, and now he was developing anorexia. How was he going to explain this to the old man?
Over the past few days, Du Yi had tried every trick in the book to get top chefs to cook for him, but nothing worked. Then he saw a glimmer of hope in Shi Jingge!
It turned out that Brother Wen just needed someone to eat with him!
As Wen Xusheng’s appetite returned, so did Du Yi’s rose-colored glasses.
He used to hate Shi Jingge because of what happened in the break room, but now that he thinks about it, Shi Jingge was also a victim. And he went to such lengths for Wen Ge, even going so far as trying to steal the person away from him. His devotion is so touching!
And today, as soon as he heard that the boss would only eat if he came over, the young master didn’t say a word and came right over.
It was so touching.
Once Du Yi’s rose-colored glasses were on, things became really interesting. Even the young master’s occasional glances at Wen Xusheng looked adorable through Du Yi’s eyes.
If Du Yi thought so, Wen Xusheng was even more enamored.
“Are you full?” Wen Xusheng asked casually.
Shi Jingge’s eyes lit up instantly. He nodded vigorously and said loudly, “I’m full.”
His expression was just like that of a primary school student being praised by their teacher, utterly adorable.
Wen Xusheng’s lips curved up slightly. “How are you going to get home?”
“I was driven here, so my driver is waiting,” Shi Jingge replied obediently, completely honest.
“Hmm,” Wen Xusheng responded with a faint sigh.
Shi Jingge’s eyes flashed with bewilderment. He looked at Wen Xusheng, then glanced at Zhu Chu and Du Yi with a hint of distress in his eyes.
This little master was so foolish! He didn’t even know how to seize such a good opportunity?
Du Yi couldn’t bear to watch. Perhaps the young master’s confused and helpless expression, tinged with a hint of grievance, stirred his compassion. He stood behind Wen Xusheng and silently prompted, “Come with us.”
The young master’s confusion deepened; he clearly hadn’t caught on.
Du Yi cupped his mouth and repeated himself.
Bang!
The young master stood up too quickly and banged his arm against the chair. He sucked in a breath of air in pain.
Wen Xusheng frowned. “How could you be so careless? Are you hurt? Let me see.”
With that, Wen Xusheng grabbed the young master’s arm and pulled up his sleeve.
The young master: —!!!!
He yanked his hand back as if he’d been electrocuted. Wen Xusheng looked up and saw the young master’s face was bright red.
Even his earlobes were red.
His beautiful eyes were filled with Wen Xusheng’s reflection, as if they could only see him.
Wen Xusheng paused for a moment and said slowly, “You don’t need to be so nervous.”
The young master shook his head vigorously. “No—No—”
“Um…” The young master scratched the back of his head, took a deep breath, and spoke as if gathering all his courage, “My car… had a problem…”
The implication in those words was crystal clear.
The young master must have felt embarrassed because he didn’t dare look at him. His eyes darted around as his face grew hotter and hotter; even his ears were burning red.
Wen Xusheng smiled slightly. “So?”
The young master opened his mouth, then closed it, a flash of frustration flickering in his eyes. He opened his mouth once more, then closed it again.
After repeating this several times, the young master couldn’t say anything and could only mutter, “Nothing, it’s fine.”
He sat down dejectedly, like a little kitten with its ears drooping, looking both wronged and pitiful.
Wen Xusheng couldn’t help but grab his shoulder and asked in a low voice, “Look at me.”
The young master glanced up at his chin, confused, his eyes full of helplessness.
Wen Xusheng softened his tone, his voice low and sexy, very bewitching. “Look at me.”
The young master instinctively met Wen Xusheng’s eyes, and almost jumped at that glance. It was only because Wen Xusheng was holding him by the shoulder that he remained seated.
This made Wen Xusheng’s eyes sparkle with amusement. He smiled and said, “Didn’t anyone ever tell you that when you ask someone for something, you should look them in the eyes?”
The young master hesitated for a moment, then replied honestly, “No.”
Wen Xusheng was amused by him and laughed heartily.
Du Yi was stunned. So Wen Xusheng could laugh like that too?
The young master stared at Wen Xusheng, his eyes filled with admiration and appreciation. That pure admiration, devoid of any desire, made the smile in Wen Xusheng’s eyes grow even wider. He stood up and said with a smile, “Let’s go. I’ll take you home.”
The young master was taken aback and asked in confusion, “Huh?”
Wen Xusheng looked down at him and said, “Isn’t your car broken?”
The young master: !!!
His face flushed again, and he hurriedly stood up, almost knocking over the bowls and chopsticks on the table. “Let’s go!” The young master seemed dissatisfied with his own attitude, rubbed his cheeks hard, then put on an arrogant air and said, “I’ll give you this honor!”
But with his face so red it looked like it was about to burst, his words lost their original impact.
After a pause, the young master picked up the iPad and said with an embarrassed smile, “This meal is on me. I said I would pay before we started. If you feel uncomfortable, next time—next time, you can treat me.”
Wen Xusheng smiled lightly upon hearing this. “This time isn’t even over yet, and you’re already thinking about next time?“
”I–I–I—” The young master couldn’t say anything, so he just glared at Wen Xusheng and rushed out.
Wen Xusheng laughed lightly and slowly followed after him.
Du Yi was the slowest. When he stood up, he still felt a bit dazed.
How could he feel that Brother Wen… was actually being a bit mean?
Also, did he just think that the young master was a bit cute?
— He actually thought that Shi Jingge was cute!
Du Yi’s hand trembled, and he buttoned his buttons wrong. Because of this momentary distraction, Du Yi fell behind the others. As he slowly walked out, his attention was drawn to the iPad lying on the young master’s seat.
… The total amount seemed a little off?
Du Yi picked up the iPad and found that the balance was indeed off. The young master had tipped generously to every waiter assigned to this private room.
At the bottom of the receipt, there were even three words written:
—“Sorry about that.”
As it turned out, the young master wasn’t a bad kid. Du Yi couldn’t help but smile.
Wen Xusheng sent the young master back, and when they arrived, he handed him an envelope. “Give this to your brother.”
This was the autographed photo that Shi Rongqing had asked Wen Xusheng for. Wen Xusheng said he would have his assistant deliver it in the evening, but since Shi Jingge was here, he could just give it to him to take back.
Shi Jingge grabbed the envelope, nodded, opened the car door, but didn’t get out.
“Um…” He scratched his head and said quickly, “Does my brother know you?”
Wen Xusheng nodded. “Yes.”
Shi Jingge’s eyes lit up. “Does he have your contact information?”
The words slipped out before he could think.
Wen Xusheng smiled.
The young master seemed to have realized something, his face turning even redder, and he looked a bit panicked. “I’m leaving—”
The young master jumped out of the car and started to run, but Wen Xusheng called him back, “Wait.”
The young master froze in place, his back stiff. Wen Xusheng’s eyes twinkled with a hint of amusement as he slowly recited a string of numbers.
The young master turned his head in confusion.
Wen Xusheng raised his eyebrow. “You didn’t catch that?”
The young master stared at him blankly. “What didn’t I catch?”
Wen Xusheng chuckled softly. “My phone number.”
The young master: !!!
“Looks like you didn’t manage to remember it.” Wen Xusheng got out of the car and held out his hand to the young master. “Your phone.”
Face blank, the young master took out his phone and handed it to Wen Xusheng.
“Passcode?”
Shi Jingge blankly asked, “For what?”
“Your screen lock,” Wen Xusheng said with a smile. “What else would it be?”
The young master: !!!
He recited a string of numbers. Wen Xusheng entered his phone number, dialed, hung up quickly, and returned the phone to Shi Jingge.
Shi Jingge stared blankly at Wen Xusheng, who returned to his car and waved at him.
Shi Jingge stared at him, his eyes sparkling.
The car started. Wen Xusheng rolled down the window and smiled, “My WeChat is the same as my phone number. You’ll add me, right?”
Shi Jingge: !!!
Before Shi Jingge could answer, the car drove away. Shi Jingge stared at the car until it was out of sight.
Du Yi saw this through the rearview mirror and couldn’t help but sigh. “Actually, the young master of the Shi family has a pretty good personality. He’s quite cute.”
“Hmm,” Wen Xusheng said vaguely.
“He’s just a little foolish, that’s all.” Du Yi sighed.
Wen Xusheng looked up at him and said lightly, “What did you say?”
Du Yi: ?
Du Yi suddenly felt a little cold.
This–This–This… He didn’t say anything wrong, did he? QAQ
“Some people are pure and kind by nature and easily deceived. Is that their fault?” Wen Xusheng looked at Du Yi indifferently.
Du Yi hurriedly said, “Of course not! It’s all the fault of those evil people! They’re too much, always bullying good people!”
Du Yi spoke with righteous indignation, and only then did Wen Xusheng withdraw his gaze.
Du Yi: “…QAQ!”
“Go investigate that Mu Jincheng,” Wen Xusheng said indifferently. “He annoys me.”
Du Yi: ?
When did Wen Xusheng start meddling in such trivial matters?
But seeing Wen Xusheng’s indifferent profile, Du Yi still enthusiastically replied, “Yes!”
The next second, he realized what was going on and was dumbfounded.
Was it because of that little young master? Wen Xushent was already protecting him?
Wasn’t that a bit too fast?
Perhaps seeing through Du Yi’s thoughts, Wen Xusheng said indifferently, “He’s my fan.”
Du Yi: “?”
“His older brother is my friend.”
Du Yi: “…So?”
“Just giving a hand.” Wen Xusheng leaned back and said slowly, “It’s nothing.”
Du Yi: “…”
Although, there was still something off about it.
…What exactly was it?
