RRMGEH Chapter 26

You’re Crazy, I’m—

Gu Changheng paused for a moment, realizing the logical connection between Zhou Li’s two sentences.

Zhou Li had sold everything that could be sold, except for the house they lived in together, depleting his family’s fortune to take him to big hospitals in Beijing and Shanghai for treatment.

“My disease is terminal, there’s no cure in the world,” Gu Changheng said softly.

“I know,” Zhou Li replied. “I don’t expect to cure you. If I can keep you alive for another day, that’s a day. The medical facilities in this small place are not good. We have to go to a bigger place to prolong your life.”

“And you?” Gu Changheng asked gently. “Just to let me live a few more months, or just one or two months, you’ve spent all the money you’ve worked so hard for over the years. After I’m gone, how will you live?”

“You’re getting old. It’s not easy to go from a skewer stall to having your own shop. When I’m gone, will you start all over again? Brave the wind and rain to set up a stall?”

“I’m not old,” Zhou Li muttered softly. “I’m just in my thirties. How can I be old? If I lose my money, I still have my hands and feet to earn it back.”

“If I lose you,” Zhou Li turned his face to the window and said, “…Changheng, how can I accept that you’re gone? I can’t bear it.”

Gu Changheng felt a sharp pain in his heart.

In the first half of his life, Gu Changheng had spent a lot of money. Before he got together with Zhao Yunfeng, he spent money on various high-end clubs, sports cars, and luxury watches. He spent money without a second thought because he was the only son of the Gu family.

Perhaps because he had lived extravagantly in the first half of his life, even after being financially cut off after getting together with Zhao Yunfeng and starting from scratch with Zhou Li, he never felt much about money.

But when Zhou Li took him to various major hospitals in Beijing and Shanghai, Zhou Li’s large spending made Gu Changheng feel pained every time.

—Perhaps it was because he knew how hard Zhou Li had worked to earn that money, how difficult it was to save up.

But Zhou Li didn’t care at all and spent money on his treatment like water.

Even so, Gu Changheng’s health continued to deteriorate. His episodes increased, and the times he was sober gradually decreased. Each episode became more painful, feeling worse than death.

That night, Zhou Li took Gu Changheng to the last large hospital in Shanghai.

After whatever the doctor told him, Zhou Li took Gu Changheng to a five-star restaurant. His heavy mood was swept away. While eating in the five-star restaurant, he smiled and recounted to Gu Changheng the stories from his childhood about catching birds in the mountains and fish in the river with friends.

It was rare that Gu Changheng was relaxed today and not in unbearable pain. He eagerly listened to Zhou Li talk about those happy topics.

The atmosphere was very pleasant and cheerful for a while.

At night, Zhou Li booked a high-end room at the five-star hotel.

Gu Changheng and Zhou Li lay on the soft bed, chatting casually.

As they talked, Zhou Li fell silent.

Gu Changheng turned his head to look at him. “Ah Li, what are you thinking about?”

Zhou Li smiled and suddenly said, “Changheng, make love with me. I want to make love with you. I really want to… really. We’ve been together for five years, and I think about it every night. Tonight, can you fulfill this wish of mine and make love with me?”

“You’re crazy, I’m—”

Before Gu Changheng could finish his sentence, Zhou Li suddenly blocked his mouth like crazy. He kissed him fiercely as if he were a hungry wolf wanting to swallow him whole, kissing him passionately.
