AMMSCF Chapter 35

On the day of the appointment with Dr. Jin, Duan Baisui specifically cleared his schedule to accompany Zuo Nian.

After Zuo Nian entered the examination room, Duan Baisui earnestly pleaded with Dr. Jin: “Dr. Jin, if my lover is simply unable to conceive, please don’t say it’s his problem. I’ll prepare a physical examination report and tell him it’s because my body isn’t doing well. I don’t want him to bear any burden because of this.”

After that day, Duan Baisui had consulted other specialists, and the answers he received were all the same: Gland correction is, in the first place, a major surgery. No one can guarantee there will be no aftereffects at all. Even if recovery is complete, infertility is still a normal outcome.

He didn’t want to tell Zuo Nian this cruel truth. If he did, the Omega, who was already self-abasing and timid, would be even more devastated. He would surely fall into self-doubt again, thinking that he wasn’t good enough.

Duan Baisui didn’t want to see Zuo Nian sad. Whether or not they had children wasn’t important to him. Besides, both of their fathers were extremely open-minded and had never urged them to have a baby, so this matter wasn’t urgent at all.

Dr. Jin looked at him for a long while, then smiled kindly and said: “Nian Nian often tells me that his Alpha is the most perfect man in the world—gentle, strong, responsible. Now that I see you, it turns out he wasn’t exaggerating. I’m very glad Nian Nian met someone as outstanding as you. Don’t worry, I know what to say.”

Duan Baisui nodded and sincerely said, “Thank you.”

Before long, Zuo Nian came out of the examination room. He jogged over to Duan Baisui’s side and said, “Looks like we won’t be able to get the report for another two hours.”

Duan Baisui patted his hair and said, “Then let’s go get something to eat. You barely had any breakfast. You must be hungry, right?”

Zuo Nian looked down and, through his T-shirt, pinched the soft flesh on his stomach. “Nian Nian’s getting so fat. I shouldn’t eat anymore. I need to have self-control.”

“I know a really nice cake shop nearby,” Duan Baisui tempted him.

Zuo Nian really took the bait. After hesitating for a long while, he stared at him and asked, “Do… do they have strawberry cake?”

“Of course.”

“Then Nian Nian will only eat a small piece.” Zuo Nian held out his hand and gestured a size.

Duan Baisui wrapped an arm around his shoulders and said, “Let’s go. It’s fine to eat two more pieces.”

“You can’t spoil Nian Nian. Really, just one small piece.” Zuo Nian repeated seriously.

“Alright, one small piece.”

That’s what he said, but when they got to the shop, Duan Baisui not only had the staff pack one of every flavor, he even loaded 8,888 yuan onto a membership card for Zuo Nian. The shop owner said that from now on, every year on the cardholder’s birthday, they could come in and get a free birthday cake. Duan Baisui thought it was a great deal.

As they stepped out of the shop, Zuo Nian looked at the trunk full of little cakes and said worriedly, “If we can’t finish them, it’ll be a waste. Gege promised Nian Nian not to buy too much.”

Duan Baisui pinched his cheek and said, “Alright, they’re not all for you. Didn’t you say a few days ago that you wanted to visit Director Xia and the kids? I bought these for those little ones.”

Zuo Nian’s eyes lit up immediately. After the two of them got into the car, he leaned over, wrapped his arms around Duan Baisui’s neck, kissed him, and said, “Hubby is the best.”

Duan Baisui turned his head, pinched his chin, and said, “Say it again?”

Zuo Nian’s eyes curved as he obediently repeated, “Hubby.”

“You really know how to act cute.” Duan Baisui couldn’t resist him at all. The tone Zuo Nian used when he spoke always had him completely wrapped around his finger.

Back at the hospital, the report had already come out.

Zuo Nian nervously gripped Duan Baisui’s hand, anxiously waiting for Dr. Jin’s “verdict”.

The elderly doctor carefully read over the papers twice, then smiled and said, “No need to worry. Nian Nian is perfectly healthy. There’s nothing wrong. The reason you haven’t conceived is simply because your glands have just entered the maturation stage. Your Alpha’s pheromones are too strong, and your body needs time to adjust. Now your body is fully capable of handling his pheromones, so having a child is only a matter of time.”

“R-really?” Zuo Nian was overwhelmed with joy, tears welling up in his eyes.

“Of course. I was the one who performed your surgery. You should have confidence in my skills,” Dr. Jin said proudly. “Also, keep your mindset calm. Being too anxious can make it harder to get pregnant. Go on a vacation with your Alpha. Who knows, maybe you’ll come back with a little surprise.”

Zuo Nian nodded hard. “Okay, I will. I won’t stress. As long as my body’s fine, I won’t be in a rush. Thank you, Dr. Jin.”

Duan Baisui wasn’t sure if Dr. Jin was saying this just to reassure Zuo Nian, or if it was truly what he believed. He glanced at the doctor. Sensing his gaze, Dr. Jin gave him a slight nod, silently signaling that Zuo Nian was fine.

Only then did Duan Baisui feel the tension ease in his heart. He helped Zuo Nian up and said, “Thank you for your help.”

Once they left the hospital, all the earlier tension and unease disappeared. Zuo Nian carefully folded the report and tucked it into his backpack, then declared grandly, “Gege, are you hungry? Nian Nian’s treating you to a feast! Order the expensive stuff. Nian Nian’s paying today!”

“After lunch, we’ll go visit the Director Mom. Today, Gege’s time belongs to Nian Nian.”

Duan Baisui couldn’t help laughing. “Mm, then thank you very much for the treat, Boss Zuo.”

“No need to be polite with me~ Nian Nian’s rich. Business has been great lately,” Zuo Nian said as he patted his little backpack.

“Alright.” Duan Baisui helped him fasten his seatbelt and teased, “Since I’m eating Boss Zuo’s food, I guess I’ll have to work extra hard tonight. Help Boss Zuo make his wishes come true as soon as possible.”

Zuo Nian’s face flushed red as he said softly, “Aiya~ I didn’t mean it like that~ Besides, Gege already works so hard every night.”

Duan Baisui tapped the tip of his nose. “Now you’re at ease? No more overthinking?”

“Mm.” Zuo Nian answered quietly, “Sometimes, Nian Nian feels really lucky.”

The midday sunlight was bright, streaming through the car windows and casting a warm glow on their faces.

In Zuo Nian’s clear, jet-black eyes, Duan Baisui saw his own reflection.

Zuo Nian added in a soft voice, “There will always be someone who brings Nian Nian hope.”

Following the “doctor’s orders”, Duan Baisui took Zuo Nian out for a little vacation that lasted half a month.

They went to the old town in T City, immersing themselves in the local culture and its peaceful, tranquil atmosphere. Unlike the scorching heat of A City, T City’s climate was mild and pleasant, the kind that made people want to stop and admire every bit of scenery.

With his whole heart at ease, Duan Baisui brought Zuo Nian to try all the local specialties he’d been dreaming about, and at every joyful moment, they took pictures together.

Life here moved at a slow pace. None of the bustling glitz of A City, no streets lined with entertainment venues, no roaring cars racing through the night. All there was were sweet-scented breezes and cobblestone paths nestled among blooming flowers.

In such an environment, Duan Baisui rarely wanted to get out of bed, hugging his lover close, reluctant to part.

They kissed in the misty mornings and tangled endlessly in the gentle night breeze.

On Duan Baisui’s birthday, Zuo Nian wrapped himself up like a present, once again offering himself completely, holding nothing back.

The red silk ribbon tied around him made his skin look even paler. The man above him wore a calm expression, not much different from usual, but the lust and madness in his eyes were completely unhidden. Even the force of his thrusts was overwhelming.

Tonight, Zuo Nian didn’t beg for mercy, nor did he say “no.” He gently cupped his lover’s face and gave him a soft kiss, whispering, “Nian Nian is ready now, Gege… you can go deeper…”

The Omega’s absolute domain had opened. That place, the sacred land no Alpha could ever resist.

Within waves of ecstasy, Zuo Nian began to find enjoyment, even gaining a bit of experience. After the Alpha completed the knotting mark, he clamped down, refusing to let him pull out. In a breathless voice, he said, “Wait… wait a little… or it’ll leak out… such a waste…”

Duan Baisui kissed his sweat-dampened temple and murmured, “Baby, don’t be this cute… or I really might die on top of you.”

Zuo Nian’s gaze was unfocused, his limbs too weak to lift. Yet even now, he acted spoiled, asking in a soft, pampered voice, “Gege… can’t you promise me?”

Duan Baisui scooped him up, and the two embraced face to face, bodies tightly pressed together. He said, “Gege won’t promise. But your husband will. Call me again.”

Zuo Nian rested his face on Duan Baisui’s shoulder. After a pause, he obediently whispered, “Please, hubby…”

That single sentence earned him yet another round of indulgence.

Outside, the wind had quieted, and the first light of dawn hung in the branches.

Duan Baisui opened the wooden window, leaned against the sill, and lit a cigarette. The Omega, worn out beyond measure, had once again missed the sunrise. Duan Baisui snapped a photo on his phone. A view this beautiful. He should’ve seen it with Zuo Nian.

Back on the bed, the person who had lost his embrace started feeling uneasy. With eyes still closed, he began murmuring again, calling out “Gege,” calling “Hubby”—soft little sounds that melted Duan Baisui’s heart.

He quickly stubbed out the cigarette, climbed back into bed, and pulled him into his arms.

In the distance, mountains stretched endlessly, bathed in soft golden morning light. A new day had begun.

After returning from their vacation, Duan Baisui went back to handling the mountain of work that had piled up.

He became so busy that his feet barely touched the ground. But no matter how late he got home, there was always a light left on for him.

Amid meetings, business trips, and social engagements, time slipped by quietly.

That day, when Duan Baisui returned home, Zuo Nian was already waiting at the hallway entrance, looking at him with a mysterious expression.

Duan Baisui reached out his hand, smiling. “Want a hug?”

Zuo Nian wrinkled his nose. “No, I don’t.”

As soon as he finished speaking, like performing a magic trick, he pulled out a blindfold and said, “Gege, put this on.”

“What’s this? Something I’m not allowed to see?”

“Just put it on~” Zuo Nian stretched out his final syllable in a playful whine.

He was acting cute again. Duan Baisui really had no defense against that.

Duan Baisui crouched down slightly. Zuo Nian helped him put on the blindfold and asked, “Can you see?”

“Nope,” Duan Baisui answered honestly.

“Then I’ll lead you~ You have to walk slowly, don’t trip,” Zuo Nian reminded him.

“Alright.”

Compared to his own, the Omega’s hand was much smaller. Duan Baisui let himself be led forward by it until they reached the sofa, where Zuo Nian gently pressed him down to sit.

The blindfold was removed. The living room lights were bright. Scattered across the floor were colorful balloons. On the crystal coffee table sat a two-tiered cake and a bottle of red wine already opened and breathing. There was also a pair of handmade dolls. One dressed in a white suit, the other in black.

In the open space directly in front of the coffee table sat an enormous bouquet of roses. On either side of the bouquet stood black lacquered iron stands, and mounted on those stands were KT boards printed with photos of the two of them together.

At that moment, with a pop, Zuo Nian pulled the string on a party popper, and colorful confetti fluttered down gently over Duan Baisui’s head. Zuo Nian shouted excitedly, “Happy first anniversary!”

Ah—today was their first wedding anniversary.

Duan Baisui looked at him. “This surprise is for me?”

“That’s right~” Zuo Nian squinted as he smiled, then sat down beside Duan Baisui. He picked up the dolls and handed them to him, saying, “These are dolls I made. This one is you, and this one is me…”

Duan Baisui stroked his cheek and said, “I should’ve been the one preparing all this.”

“It doesn’t matter~ Whoever prepares it, it’s the same. I want to celebrate with Gege every single year~” Zuo Nian said happily.

“If I told you I forgot… would you be mad?” Duan Baisui asked.

“I’d be a little bit disappointed, but I’d understand. Gege’s been so busy lately~” Zuo Nian said considerately.

Duan Baisui smiled, leaned down, and kissed his cheek. “Then luckily, I remembered. How could I ever let you be disappointed?”

As he spoke, he pulled out a velvet box and said, “Open it and see.”

“Is it a gift for Nian Nian?”

“Mm,” Duan Baisui replied.

“It’s not… not another ring for Little Nian Nian to wear, is it?” Zuo Nian asked nervously.

“You’ll know once you look.”

Duan Baisui wrapped his arms around him as Zuo Nian slowly opened the box, mumbling as he did, “If it’s for Little Nian Nian, we can’t use it right now, because…”

His words trailed off.

Zuo Nian’s eyes turned red in an instant, and he murmured, “It’s just like the one from when we were little…”

Duan Baisui had sent the plastic crown ring from their childhood to a designer and asked for a replica made entirely of diamonds.

The ring took a long time to finish, but luckily, it arrived just in time for their wedding anniversary.

“I told you back then,” Duan Baisui said, “that when we grew up, I’d buy you one with real diamonds.”

“The wedding ring already has a big diamond. Nian Nian is more than satisfied,” Zuo Nian replied.

“It’s different,” Duan Baisui said. “The wedding rings were chosen by our parents. But this one, I picked it. It’s my promise to you.”

What was once plastic at the age of five had become a diamond at twenty-five, placed once again on his lover’s hand.

Zuo Nian didn’t use to cry. Director Mom had always told him to smile. Only then would people find you lovable. And yet now, even though it was such a joyful moment, Zuo Nian felt an overwhelming urge to cry.

He sniffled. “Gege, Nian Nian is so touched… If I cry now, will it ruin the mood?”

“Of course not.” Duan Baisui kissed the corner of his eye. “Whether you want to cry or smile, that’s all up to you.”

Zuo Nian’s tears fell as he choked out, “Just a little… I’m just really moved… Wu wu wu…”

Duan Baisui took out the ring, lifted Zuo Nian’s left hand, and solemnly slid it onto his finger, just like when they were five, when a plastic ring had stolen Zuo Nian’s heart.

And in all the years that followed, Zuo Nian had willingly offered himself as his, waiting faithfully for him through the long stretch of time, loyal only to him.

Fortunately, after walking a long road and meeting many people, he had come full circle—back to where he started, back to the arms of his very first love, never to part again.

“Zuo Nian, I love you.” Duan Baisui kissed his fingers, finally speaking the words from his heart.

Just three simple words, yet they had arrived years too late.

Zuo Nian turned around and hugged him tightly. After sobbing for a long while, he choked out, “Nian Nian loves Gege too… loves him so much…”

Duan Baisui chuckled and patted his back. “Don’t cry so much that you turn into a messy little cat. I’ve booked a hotel. I was planning to take you there.”

“Huh?” Zuo Nian blinked, not quite processing it.

“Did you really think you were the only one with a surprise?” Duan Baisui grinned. “I had something prepared, too. I came home to pick you up.”

Zuo Nian wiped his tears. “Nian Nian is so bad… I really thought Gege forgot…”

“Silly.” Duan Baisui pulled out a tissue and gently wiped his face.

“Actually… actually, Nian Nian has one more gift…” Zuo Nian said.

“Oh?” Duan Baisui raised a brow.

Zuo Nian hesitated and fidgeted for a long time, then finally pulled a rectangular box out from the bouquet of roses and handed it to Duan Baisui.

“What is it?” Duan Baisui asked. “A bracelet? A necklace?”

Zuo Nian shook his head. “Gege, take a look for yourself.”

So mysterious. But it didn’t matter. Whatever Zuo Nian gave him, he would love.

As the lid of the box was lifted, it was as if someone had struck Duan Baisui’s acupoint. His entire body froze.

Inside wasn’t a bracelet or necklace at all, but a pregnancy test stick, with two bold lines.

Zuo Nian… was pregnant!

“When—when did this happen?” Duan Baisui asked, trying to hold back his overwhelming excitement.

“It’s been over a month now. It probably happened when we were in T City,” Zuo Nian said gently, his expression soft. “The baby really knows how to pick the right time. The baby came to us when their daddies were at their happiest, bringing love and warmth along with them~”

Duan Baisui didn’t know where to put his hands and feet. He wanted to lift Zuo Nian and spin him around, but kept stopping himself. Zuo Nian seemed so delicate now. He was afraid of hurting him or the tiny life growing inside him.

“Can I take a look?” Duan Baisui asked.

Zuo Nian smiled. “Silly Gege, there’s nothing to see at just over a month.”

Even so, he obediently lifted the hem of his T-shirt.

At just over a month, there really wasn’t anything visible yet—not even as round as his belly would get after a full meal.

Duan Baisui placed his large hand over Zuo Nian’s lower abdomen. Then, he bent down and gently kissed the Omega’s stomach.

“Hello,” he said softly. “Welcome to our family.”
