RRMGEH Chapter 29

Not to Mention This Kind of Fighting and Hurting Someone

Zhou Li tightly held Gu Changheng’s cooling body from late at night until dawn.

Zhou Li’s head rested on Gu Changheng’s shoulder, holding him around the waist, hoping to keep Gu Changheng’s body from cooling down too quickly.

He wished that when the sun rose, Gu Changheng would open his eyes and say to him, as he did every morning with a smile on his lips, “Ah Li, good morning.”

Around noon, when Gu Changheng’s body became incredibly stiff, Zhou Li had to accept the painful truth that he really wouldn’t wake up.

Zhou Li reluctantly got out of bed and helped Gu Changheng put on each piece of clothing. When he slipped on the last coat on Gu Changheng, his emotions suddenly broke down. A big man lay on the bed, tears streaming down.

At that moment, “Gu Changheng” could see Zhou Li. He saw Zhou Li crying. He wanted to go forward to comfort him and reached out his hand, but it passed right through Zhou Li’s body.

“Gu Changheng” desperately called Zhou Li’s name, but Zhou Li couldn’t hear him.

Gu Changheng vaguely understood that he was really dead, and now he was merely a wandering soul. He didn’t understand why no one had come to take him away, so he just followed Zhou Li.

Zhou Li cried until his eyes were red and swollen. He splashed cold water on his face, had a meal downstairs, and wrote countless “be strong” on paper. He had to comfort Gu Changheng’s parents.

Gu Changheng saw Zhou Li dial his parents’ phone number, choking as he explained the news of Gu Changheng’s passing.

Those two elderly people, who had resolutely cut off their father-son and mother-son ties, hurried to see Gu Changheng’s body. Tears streamed down their faces, and they fainted several times from grief.

At that moment, Zhou Li suddenly became incredibly strong. With red eyes, he comforted Gu Changheng’s father and mother and helped the two elderly people with Gu Changheng’s burial.

He made sure that the funeral proceeded in an orderly manner.

On the eighth day after the burial, Zhou Li rented a car and went to Zhao’s company.

He had a wooden stick ready in the car. Zhou Li sat in the car, blocking the entrance of Zhao’s company, smoking one cigarette after another. As soon as Zhao Yunfeng, who had already fallen ill, drove out of the company gate, Zhou Li followed closely behind.

Once they reached a remote area, Zhou Li suddenly overtook Zhao Yunfeng’s car and forced him to a stop.

Zhao Yunfeng got out of the car and pointed at Zhou Li and shouted curses. But before he could figure out what was happening, Zhou Li swung the wooden stick and hit him hard.

In Gu Changheng’s memory, Zhou Li was a very gentle person. Although he was tall and strong, he was never the one to engage in arguments.

—Not to mention this kind of fighting and hurting someone.

Zhou Li was like a madman that day. With bloodshot eyes, he hit Zhao Yunfeng repeatedly with the stick. It was obvious that he wanted to beat him to death.

Gu Changheng saw Zhao Yunfeng, who had always been arrogant in front of him, being beaten by Zhou Li and running away in panic. He kept begging for mercy on the ground.

But Zhou Li showed no mercy and continued to strike Zhao Yunfeng with a stick until he vomited blood and couldn’t get up. The stick broke in half. Zhou Li kicked Zhao Yunfeng twice before leaving.

After that brutal beating by Zhou Li, Zhao Yunfeng died of AIDS just a few days later. The Zhao family felt ashamed and didn’t even report his injuries to the police. He was buried hastily.
