RIACMET chapter 99

Reunion After a Short Separation

When Jiang Nian opened the door and stepped inside, he heard the buzz of an electric razor coming from the bathroom.

Cheng Jing was standing in front of the sink, shaving. The moment he heard the noise, he came out and saw the person he’d been thinking about day and night. His eyes lit up with joy.

“Niannian.”

“Brother Jing, welcome back!”

Jiang Nian looked excited. He stepped forward and hugged the man he hadn’t seen for several days.

Although he trusted the team’s abilities, he couldn’t help but worry about his lover and friends on their missions.

Cheng Jing turned off the shaver and gently kissed Jiang Nian’s forehead.

“All right, sorry for making you worry. Everything’s fine.”

No matter how thorough the phone updates were, they couldn’t compare to the sense of security that came from holding the person he loved in his arms. Caring about others and being cared for was the belief he held dear.

“…”

They looked at each other for a long moment. Then, Jiang Nian took the shaver from Cheng Jing’s hand.

“Brother Jing, let me help you…”

Brother Jing was still exactly the same. He never forgot that he was a face-con. Unless the circumstances were special, and he couldn’t take care of himself, he always maintained the image of a perfect man.

In his eyes, though, Brother Jing was always handsome, even when he looked a little haggard and rough around the edges. It was enough that, when he returned from a mission, he would come find Brother Jing first and go home with him. He could help scrub his back, trim his hair, and shave—whatever he needed.

Cheng Jing watched him intently.

“Why did you suddenly come home? I was just about to pack up and go look for you.”

It felt good to be thought of by the person he loved. All the affection he had given him hadn’t been in vain—he was always the top priority, no matter what.

“Uh…”

Jiang Nian’s ears flushed red instantly.

“I…uh, cough… Xiaohui told me to come back.”

“Oh? Heh…”

Cheng Jing burst out laughing at his blushing face.

“What are you laughing at?”

Jiang Nian felt a little guilty. After shaving him, Cheng Jing switched off the shaver and put it away.

Cheng Jing rubbed his chin.

“Niannian, you’ve changed.”

“Huh?”

Jiang Nian blinked.

“When did that happen? Why didn’t I know about it?”

Cheng Jing teased him.

“Before, you would’ve definitely said, ‘Of course I came home because I missed you,’ or something like that…”

This little brat had gotten all shy after just a few days apart.

“…”

Jiang Nian was speechless. He glared at Cheng Jing before walking to the living room. He blamed him for not saying something sweet.

When he used to talk dirty, Cheng Jing accused him of having no shame. Now that he was quiet, Cheng Jing accused him of being too tame. Hah—men!

Cheng Jing followed him and wrapped him in a hug from behind.

“So you only came home because Xiaohui told you to? If she hadn’t, you really wouldn’t have considered it? Didn’t you miss me at all?”

He’d always been like this; he just wanted Niannian to care about him anytime, anywhere, and in any way, without holding back.

So what if he was an overgrown, lovesick fool? Other people didn’t know, and even if they did, the ones laughing were single men anyway.

“…”

They’d only been apart for a few days, but the body pressed against his back was so hot, it was almost burning.

Jiang Nian turned to face the man, who was pretending to be calm, but his eyes were already blazing. He lost his patience all at once.

This was what it was like to date an introvert who always wanted him to make the first move. So what? He still had to be spoiled!

“Mm…”

Jiang Nian grabbed Cheng Jing’s collar, leaned in, and kissed his handsome mouth hard. He panted softly.

“Why don’t you just do whatever you want instead of talking so much? The only reason I said I came back because Xiaohui told me was because it was an excuse! I missed you, okay?”

It was just love talk—he could have as much of it as he wanted!

“Heh…”

Having his thoughts exposed, Cheng Jing grinned shamelessly.

“I haven’t seen you in days. I was just pretending.”

As he spoke, his calloused palm slid under Jiang Nian’s clothes and caressed his warm skin.

Jiang Nian bit his lip and leaned his forehead against Cheng Jing’s chest.

“You can’t pretend to be dead…”

Honestly, if they both felt the same way, things would always spiral into chaos.

“…”

Kisses fell again, and the fire ignited in an instant.

The bedroom curtains were drawn shut and the fan and air conditioner were turned on, yet the heat from their bodies pressing together still felt sweltering.

It was no less dazzling than the sun blazing outside.

“…”

Messing around in the middle of the day was wonderfully satisfying, utterly embarrassing, and completely shameless.

Their scuffle lasted from noon until evening. By the time it finally calmed down, Jiang Nian felt like he was about to fall apart.

“Cheng Jing! My waist is broken, so you’ll have to live like a widower for a while!”

His throat was bone dry, and he spat out the accusation at the man who had turned into a crazed beast after a few days apart.

But he didn’t dare look directly at Cheng Jing while scolding him, afraid he’d lose his resolve. Being a beauty lover was just too hard!

It felt so good and so awful!

“Don’t talk nonsense!”

Cheng Jing hugged him tenderly from behind.

“We were apart for days. I missed you so much…”

The thing was, if he didn’t pretend, he was called fake. If he didn’t, he was called a lunatic.

There was no way they’d end up widowed. No matter how much they compromised, there were only two possible endings.

They would live together until they were old and gray, or die young, never being apart, even in death.

Jiang Nian clung to his arm and bit him hard.

“It’s only been a few days. If it were longer, you’d kill me…”

“Impossible, absolutely impossible!”

Cheng Jing raised a hand as if swearing an oath, then whispered in his ear in a scoundrel’s voice, chuckling low:

“You clearly liked it too, but you won’t admit it. Anyway, I came home from a mission. You should reward me, don’t you think?”

After all, he was a hardworking man trying to earn money to support his family.

“Say that again!”

Jiang Nian elbowed his chest.

“Didn’t I already give you a reward? Brother Jing, why are you being so unreasonable?”

His cheeks still hurt. What an ungrateful man!

Cheng Jing tried to coax him, speaking gently.

“It’s my fault. All right, you just rest. I’ll cook something for you.”

He’d expended so much energy releasing all his pent-up hormones that he hadn’t eaten since noon. It was his fault that Niannian didn’t get a proper meal on time either.

“Go on, Little Jingzi[mfn]”Zi” is added to make the name more friendly and cute. It is used between lovers to create a feeling of intimacy or teasing.[/mfn]. I’m tired!”

Jiang Nian was too exhausted to deal with him anymore, so he shut his eyes to rest.

Of course, even though they’d argued, he was happy and satisfied. He was just an ordinary person who was greedy for those small, mundane moments of happiness with his lover.

“Niannian, do you want to eat in here? I’ll feed you.”

It was past eight by then. Cheng Jing had prepared three dishes and a soup. The portions were small and the flavors were light, but everything looked and smelled delicious. He gently woke Jiang Nian and served him with great care.

“…”

Seeing how the man transformed into a “devoted boyfriend” the moment he stopped being a lunatic, Jiang Nian yawned, got dressed, and climbed out of bed. Pretending to be serious, he said,

“Or, Brother Jing, you could help me eat it so that I won’t have to open my mouth.”

“Niannian…”

Cheng Jing began to object as he bent down to straighten his collar. Jiang Nian took the opportunity to press a fingertip to his lips.

“Shh. I’m a psychic, too. Don’t think it’s that easy to fool me.”

Eating in bed was just too much.

“…”

Cheng Jing took his hand, smiling.

“It feels like my superpowers have grown a lot in just a few days. No wonder my endurance keeps improving.”

Maybe it had something to do with the nature of his powers. He felt that he was especially prone to “losing control.” If his superpowered lover could also improve his endurance, he wouldn’t need to hold back so much.

“…”

Jiang Nian was speechless and wanted to bite him again.

What kind of serious boyfriend brags like that?
