YNRHPCYC Chapter 111

Breaking the formation

Even after a few decades, those memories are still as clear as ever, deeply engraved in Wen Chan’s bones.

At the thought of that despair, he trembled all over, and before his consciousness could react, his whole body had already rushed forward, pointing a dagger at the back of Zhong Guoyi’s head.

When the blade was about to stab down, he was suddenly bounced away by an invisible force, and then there was darkness in front of him, and he couldn’t see anything. His body hit the hard wall, and he fell to the ground.

He didn’t know what he fell on, but his body was in pain. He hurriedly got up from the ground; his hands and feet touched the silver ingots, which collided with each other and made a dazzling crisp sound.

This was a very silent and suffocating environment. When he heard the sound of silver ingots, Wen Chan had already guessed where it was.

He hid here at the beginning and escaped death. Ah Fu wore his clothes and set fire to Xiyang Palace directly, saving Wen Chan with his own death.

Ah Fu was timid and cautious. He had been serving Wen Chan since he was a child. He was stingy and loved money very much. He had a bad habit of bullying others by taking advantage of his power, but he was still very cowardly in his bones. Wen Chan could have understood even if he ran away at the critical moment.

But this man who had been timid all his life was so brave in the end and was not afraid of the blazing fire.

Wen Chan was very scared of the cave that saved his life. He had heard too much crying and begging for mercy from there, and had witnessed the destruction of the Wen clan with his own ears. What a cruel thing this was.

He touched his body, and the cloak that Liang Yanbei had given him before was gone. It was replaced by Ah Fu’s eunuch clothes, which were very thin.

Wen Chan bit the dagger in his mouth and hit the cover above his head with his elbow. Ah Fu had covered it carefully. He was afraid that there would be no light and air inside, so he had left a gap on purpose.

Wen Chan pushed it open, and the thick night enveloped him. Wen Chan crawled out of the hole in the ground, with the light of torches in his eyes.

There were many guards around, but they all turned a blind eye to Wen Chan, patrolling back and forth, talking and laughing. A cool breeze blew in the air, carrying the smell of blood.

“Among these princes, only the ninth prince is the most sensible. He knows to light a fire and leave with face. The others, ha……” The guard laughed contemptuously as he passed by Wen Chan.

“It’s really interesting. My lord didn’t let us put out the fire. Now the Xiyang Palace is still burning!”

The ridiculing words were quite sharp in Wen Chan’s ears, which made his brain hurt. He ran towards his Xiyang Palace, taking the dagger in his hand. But before he ran there, he smelt the burning smell in the air. The raging flames lit up half of the night sky, and the noise of laughter and noise was mixed in.

Wen Chan took a deep breath, his legs became weak again, and he stumbled through the crowd all the way to the front of Xiyang Palace.

The entire Xiyang Palace was on fire, crackling with flames. The large flames reflected in Wen Chan’s beautiful eyes, like the remaining sunset in the night sky, stinging his eyes.

This was where he used to live, and now it was melting bit by bit in the fire. In this palace, there was still Ah Fu, who would quarrel for him, tirelessly bring him sour plum soup, and try his best to treat him well no matter where he was.

He put on the gorgeous clothes of the Ninth Prince and turned into a charred corpse in the flames.

“Your Highness, you must live! Whether you reunite with old ministers to regain the mountains and rivers of Xi Liang or leave the capital and live a peaceful life thousands of miles away, you must live well!”

“This minion has felt lucky more than once. I was able to grow up in Xiyang Palace and serve Your Highness, and I have lived for half of my life, which is enough!”

This was what Ah Fu had said to Wen Chan before leaving. He usually loved to cry, and he could burst into tears for little things. But when he said this, the tears in his eyes were tightly covered and did not fall.

Looking back now, his farewell to these people in his previous life was too hasty.

Liang Shuhong said to Wen Chan, “Your Highness, be careful in the future.” Then he died on the day when the Zhong family entered the city. He was a weak scholar, and even if he took a sword, he could not use it freely.

Qin Qi and Shu Hua said to Wen Chan, “Your Highness, go!” Then they died in the siege of the Zhong family. They protected Wen Chan all their life, and they did so until their death.

Wen Zhang said to Wen Chan, “Ninth brother, I’m not afraid!” Then he died in the palace, under the hooves of the Zhong family.

A lot time passed, and Wen Chan only had hatred for the Zhong family, but he almost forgot why he hated them.

He clenched his dagger, turned his head and left.

He passed through most of the palace, as if he were tireless, and came to the outside of the court hall. The door of the hall was wide open, and the lights were brightly lit inside.

Everywhere he looked, there was blood flowing. Wen Chan walked in step by step and saw Zhong Guoyi sitting on the dragon throne in a casual posture. Seeing Wen Chan, he smiled and said, “I hadn’t gone to you yet, but you came to me by yourself.”

Wen Chan said nothing and walked straight into the hall. His eyes, which were usually full of gentleness and calmness, were now stained with blood.

He seemed to be unusually calm. All emotions were hidden and pressed under his calm face.

Seeing him like this, Zhong Guoyi was a little shaken for no reason in his heart. He simply stood up from the dragon throne and beckoned, “Bring it up!”

This was something he had prepared a long time ago. With just one order, the guards pushed a long wooden frame with corpses hanging on it and laid it in front of Wen Chan.

Wen Chan glanced at it and saw his father, Crown Prince Wen Yue; his younger brother, Wen Xiang; and even Wen Zhang. Everyone had scars of varying sizes on their bodies, and their clothes were stained red with blood. From a distance, they looked like they were wearing wedding dresses.

Wen Chan’s fists hidden in his sleeves kept tightening, shaking with force, but his face remained calm.

Zhong Guoyi smiled cruelly, “How is it, Your Ninth Royal Highness? You can still pretend to be calm seeing this?” He walked down and stood next to the wooden frame, “These are all your flesh-and-blood relatives. They were infinitely noble during their lifetime, but now they are hanging here. It’s so pitiful!”

Wen Chan stepped forward, “Do you think these illusions can still deceive me?”

“Whether you are Zhong Guoyi or that demon, listen carefully.” Wen Chan said, “In this life, I am Wen Chan, not His Ninth Royal Highness. I want to kill you, not to avenge him and them, but to free myself!”

The moment the voice fell, he suddenly raised his knife and slashed Zhong Guoyi, catching him by surprise. He only had time to raise his hand to block it. But Wen Chan’s sharp blade slid down from his wrist, cutting a long wound until it stopped at the elbow.

Zhong Guoyi’s expression twisted instantly; he raised his hand and waved it, and a powerful force hit Wen Chan’s abdomen, causing his body to fly out uncontrollably. Fortunately, Wen Chan reacted quickly and rolled over when he landed, so he didn’t fall.

Zhong Guoyi looked down at his bleeding hand. His entire right arm turned blood red in an instant, and his face got hideous with anger, “I didn’t want to hurt your body, but you don’t know what’s good for you!”

With a wave of his hand, a short sword appeared out of thin air, and he said, “It seems that I have to teach you some lessons.”

Wen Chan took a deep breath to stabilise his body, and suddenly many figures appeared in front of him: Liang Shuhong, Ah Fu, Qin Qi, Shu Hua, Zhong Wenjin, Xie Zhaoxue, the Emperor, Wen Yue, Wen Xiang, Wen Zhang, Qiao Yanci, Situ Zhoulan, Dan Ke, and finally stopped at Liang Yanbei’s face, his smile gentle, handsome and unparalleled.

He stepped forward again with the knife in hand, and with a feint, he went straight for Zhong Guoyi’s neck. Zhong Guoyi dodged, and in the blink of an eye, he left a knife mark on Wen Chan’s back, and the blade was stained with bright red blood.

Wen Chan only felt the piercing pain, gritted his teeth and continued to attack, leaving almost no room for Zhong Guoyi, and kept dodging.

The biggest advantage of the Liang family’s footwork was its lightness and unpredictability. Wen Chan’s knife turned very quickly, and his hands and feet were not idle at the same time, and he would attack as long as he got the right opportunity.

But Zhong Guoyi was much stronger than ordinary people because he was possessed by a demon. He suppressed Wen Chan not only in strength but also in magic. After being stabbed twice, he grabbed Wen Chan’s neck and easily lifted him into the air.

Wen Chan’s neck was strangled by a powerful force. His face turned red in an instant, veins on his head bulged, and he kicked Zhong Guoyi’s face with force. He flipped backwards and landed steadily. The next moment, the dagger in his hand sliced through the air.

The sharp blade easily cut Zhong Guoyi’s throat, and blood splattered. Wen Chan was soaked in blood, and his fair face was also stained with a lot of blood.

Zhong Guoyi’s eyes were wide open, and he fell straight down.

————

Liang Shuhong and Lou Muge walked out of the fourth illusion and stood in Yanxiang Temple.

His fox ears and the patterns on his face had completely disappeared, and all the injuries on his body had also been repaired. His eyes turned back to black, and his further transformation had made him more and more handsome. His appearance was not stained with the slightest speck of dust and was very neat.

It was already dark at this time. The bright moon hung high in the clean night sky, emitting a hazy white light. Liang Shuhong looked up and stared.

Lou Muge glanced at it, “What are you looking at?”

Liang Shuhong pointed at the moon and said, “I don’t know why, but when I see this moon, I always have the urge to howl.”

“Every fox will have this urge.” Lou Muge said, “You’ll get used to it.”

Liang Shuhong quickly pursed his lips, lowered his head, and dared not look again. He followed Lou Muge for a few steps but still couldn’t help asking, “Really?”

“Of course not. You’re just a fox, not a wolf.” He said with a smile.

Liang Shuhong quietly breathed a sigh of relief and then corrected his words sternly and forcefully for the cause of justice, “I’m not a fox either.”

“Okay, okay, whatever you want.” Lou Muge didn’t argue with him at all, thinking that when you grow a fox tail, I’ll see how you deny it.

The two passed through the empty temple and headed to the back of Yanxiang Temple. Liang Shuhong was curious, “Where are we going?”

“After we find the objects that activated the formation and destroy them, the monster will have to use its own power to maintain the formation, which can be considered as helping His Highness.” He explained.

Liang Shuhong agreed, “That’s a good idea.”

In the innermost part of Yanxiang Temple, there was a century-old yew tree, which had grown extremely huge, with a canopy covering the sky and the sun.

The two of them came to the foot of the tree. Lou Muge stood still and looked up. He saw that the canopy of the tree was hidden in the darkness, and he couldn’t see anything clearly. He said, “You make a fire.”

Liang Shuhong complied with it, put the scimitar on the ground, took out two flints from his arms, took off a torch on the wall, struck it hard, and a little flame popped out, but it didn’t work.

Lou Muge said, “Can’t you use magic power?”

Liang Shuhong looked confused, “How to use it?”

Lou Muge said, feeling that it was a great pity, “The Tushan Fox Clan’s blood in your body was wasted in vain.” As he said that, he moved his fingers, and a small flame jumped out of his palm.

When he saw this magical scene, his eyes lit up, but he quickly suppressed them and insisted, “I am a mortal; I don’t know these…… Immortal methods.”

Lou Muge laughed out loud all of a sudden, “What immortal methods? I am not an immortal…… But if you really want to return to being a mortal, you should go to the demon king first; otherwise, you will always be like this.”

Liang Shuhong thought for a while and asked, “Can I live a long time?”

“Of course.” Lou Muge said, “Let me make it clear. Spirits can live for a thousand years, and those who cultivate to become demons can live for ten thousand years. If they cultivate to become immortals, it will be even longer. If they become gods……”

“If you become a god, you will live forever?” He followed up to ask.

“Gods are immortal, but they are indifferent and have few desires. It is better not to provoke them.” He said.

“Which kind do I belong to?”

“I said before that the Tushan fox tribe is a divine beast’s tribe. When the blood is completely integrated with your blood, you can directly ascend to being a god. However, the demon king has broken ties with Tushan for a long time, and you have his smell on you. If you really go to the divine world, you will definitely be targeted.”

“Ah……” Liang Shuhong immediately backed down, “Forget it. I just want to be a mortal.”

Lou Muge smiled but said nothing.

“What about the demon king?” Liang Shuhong asked again, “How long has he lived?”

Speaking of him, Lou Muge thought for a while and said, “He is really an old demon. When I was young, he had already rebelled against Tushan and went down to the divine world to become a powerful demon. For so many years, he has loved to be a demon king.”

Liang Shuhong looked at Lou Muge’s appearance and was secretly happy, “It seems that he has not lived for long.”

Lou Muge saw what he was thinking but didn’t say anything. He chuckled and pointed his finger. The flames turned into thousands of light spots, floating up from his palm, and finally gathered around the tree, illuminating the surrounding scene.

Liang Shuhong followed the light spots and moved his eyes upward. He was very amazed by the scene. Just as he was happy, his face suddenly changed, and he became extremely terrified after seeing the tree trunk clearly.

The huge tree trunk was actually wrapped with people of all sizes, with their faces exposed. Those faces had their eyes closed, and their faces were sunken, like skeletons. They were densely packed together, which was very creepy.

Liang Shuhong had never seen such a terrifying scene, and his legs immediately trembled with fear. He picked up the scimitar on the ground in a panic and whispered in a trembling voice, “What is this? What is this……”

Lou Muge’s face was gloomy, “These should be the people who were originally in the temple, but the demon used them as a sacrifice array and sealed it in the demon tree.”

He took two steps forward, jumped up abruptly, stepped up a few times on the trunk of the tree and jumped into the huge canopy. Liang Shuhong said from below, “Be careful! Don’t get caught in the tree!”

Lou Muge didn’t respond. With a light, graceful turn, he said, “There are still some people alive here.”

Liang Shuhong wanted to jump up like him when he heard it, but after looking at the faces on the tree trunks, he didn’t dare to, so he said, “You dig them out.”

“Catch.” A voice came from above, and then a person fell from above. Liang Shuhong waved his scimitar, and it disappeared in his hand. He stretched out his arms to catch them, hugged the person tightly, and looked down, “F***! It’s Xie Zhaoxue!”

Xie Zhaoxue’s face was pale, his breathing was very weak, and the whole person was in a deep coma. Liang Shuhong gently put him on the ground. As soon as he stood up, he heard Lou Muge say, “There is another one.”

He saw another person falling from the tree canopy. He ran two steps to catch them too. At first glance, it was an unfamiliar person. He was breathing smoothly and was obviously in a much better condition than Xie Zhaoxue. Liang Shuhong put him together with Xie Zhaoxue.

Lou Muge jumped down from the tree and shook his head, saying, “The others are not good. They have been dead for several days.”

“He is very weak. Can you save him?” Liang Shuhong pointed at Xie Zhaoxue and asked.

Hearing this, he squatted beside Xie Zhaoxue, stretched out his hand and pressed on his chest. A very dark colour flashed by, and Xie Zhaoxue’s breathing suddenly increased, and then his face quickly became ruddy. Lou Muge stood up, “Okay, he won’t die.”

Liang Shuhong felt Xie Zhaoxue’s pulse and felt that the pulse was strong. So he was relieved, “Should we destroy this tree?”

“Of course we should destroy it.” Lou Muge said, “This tree is constantly absorbing essence to maintain the entire Rakshasa illusion.”

“But this tree is so big. Even if we want to burn it, it will take a few days.”

Lou Muge waved his hand, “Where is your knife?”

After Liang Shuhong heard this, he clenched his right hand, and the scimitar appeared again. This was a little trick he had figured out after demonisation. He looked at his knife, “Do you want to chop it with a knife?”

Then it may not be possible to remove the roots of the tree even if it is cut for a year.

Lou Muge shook his head, “Your knife doesn’t just have a small role. Come, I will teach you a move, and I guarantee that you can cut off the roots of this tree with one slash.”

“Can’t you just chop it with the knife? What if I can’t learn it? Wouldn’t it just be a waste of time then?” Liang Shuhong asked.

“Do you think I don’t want to? This knife has spiritual consciousness and recognises its master. If it is not its recognised master, it can’t be picked up at all.” Lou Muge said, “My trick is very simple. You can learn it if you are not a fool.”

Liang Shuhong weighed it for a while and remembered the look of Wen Chan holding the knife before. He also believed Lou Muge’s words and said, “Come on, come on, teach quickly.”

————

Wen Chan panted and retreated, and the feeling of suffocation gradually disappeared. He wiped the warm blood off his face, looked at Zhong Guoyi’s body in front of him for a long time, and was about to breathe a sigh of relief.

But he suddenly saw a black mist surround him, and then the whole person stood up straight like a stick. Zhong Guoyi’s face had a cold smile, and his neck was still bleeding. He said, “You are just an ordinary person; do you really think you can kill me?”

Wen Chan was secretly shocked and stepped back unconsciously.

Zhong Guoyi said, “I originally wanted your soul whole and intact, but since you’re resisting like this, losing one soul and one spirit won’t matter.”

As he said this, his right hand turned into a claw, and the black mist burst out. His arm suddenly stretched out and grabbed Wen Chan’s neck. Wen Chan reacted very quickly, rolled to the side, dodged the long claw, and stepped on his feet to use the force to rush towards him.

Zhong Guoyi smiled contemptuously, as if laughing at Wen Chan for overestimating his own strength. The five fingers of his left hand were put together, turning into a sharp blade, facing Wen Chan’s heart.

Wen Chan was very fast. Seeing that he was in front of him, he quickly turned his body to the side, trying to avoid it. Unexpectedly, Zhong Guoyi was faster than him and chopped at Wen Chan’s right hand fiercely.

The pain of the bone fracture came quickly. Wen Chan couldn’t suppress his screams and retreated repeatedly. His entire right hand hung down weakly, but he still held the dagger tightly.

Under the severe pain, cold sweat broke out instantly.

Zhong Guoyi laughed, “Don’t overestimate your ability. Give up obediently and suffer less physical pain.”

Wen Chan gritted his teeth and pressed the pain down tightly. He passed the dagger in his right hand to his left hand and said hatefully, “Wishful thinking!”

As soon as the voice fell, he rushed out again.

There was nothing else in his mind, only one thought: kill the man in front of him!

Zhong Guoyi raised his hand; his nails turned into a sharp blade, aiming at Wen Chan’s chest. Wen Chan didn’t dodge or evade and ran straight at him.

When he got in front of him, he suddenly dodged aside. The next moment, Zhong Guoyi’s claws penetrated his shoulder blades, and his knife pierced Zhong Guoyi’s side neck.

Zhong Guoyi was in pain and threw Wen Chan out all at once.

The illusion seemed to increase Wen Chan’s pain by several times. The two consecutive injuries made his mind a little confused. The whole person was thrown into the air like a kite with a broken string.

The power disparity was so great that it was impossible to win.

I have done my best, Wen Chan thought: I have done my best for all those who have sacrificed for me, and for myself.

When he thought he was going to fall to the ground fiercely, someone caught him with a soft arm, hugged him into a warm embrace, and hugged him tightly.

Wen Chan opened his eyes and saw Liang Yanbei leaning down, pressing a gentle kiss on his forehead, and said softly in a voice that instantly made him feel at ease, “It’s okay. I’m here.”
