ISWMQ – Chapter 20

“What?” Tang Yuan didn’t catch the last part.

“It’s nothing.” Rong Guang smiled and pointed at Chacha. “Chacha has a friend inside, the producer’s cousin. We’ll just have Chacha call her in a bit.”

Chacha took the cue and patted her chest. “Right.”

Their friendship was rock-solid!

Tang Yuan got into the car, looking back every few steps. She couldn’t help but feel that Rong Guang and Chacha, standing alone on the dirt road with two large suitcases, looked incredibly pitiful.

After some thought, she drove a short distance, then turned back to take a picture of their figures from behind. She’d keep it as a memento, something to look back on and appreciate how far they’d come.

Not until Tang Yuan’s car, kicking up a cloud of yellow dust, disappeared at the intersection did Chacha spit out the grit in her mouth. “Hmph, so annoying,” she said slowly.

Rong Guang smiled and patted the dust from the top of Chacha’s head. “Don’t be angry—go contact Ye Zi. She’ll know who to find.”

“Okay.” Chacha pulled out her phone and started a video call.

As if that wasn’t enough, Chacha poured a little mineral water into her palm, wiped some dirt from the guardhouse gate, and smeared it on her own face.

The video call connected.

Chacha’s eyes immediately turned red. She stared pitifully at the camera, tears welling up before she even spoke.

A wail came from the other end, along with Sun Yuzhi’s voice telling Ye Zi to be quiet.

Chacha timed her words perfectly. “Yezizi, hurry and get Chachazi inside! Chachazi and Guangguangzi are blocked outside the main gate by the gatekeeper zombie from Zombie Squad One, and we can’t find the key to pass!”

As she spoke, Chacha turned her camera to a very familiar car that had just been let in.

“Wow, the player with the license plate ending in 5438 has successfully passed the level! And they threw us a scornful look and a sneer, gave the gatekeeper zombie a red envelope, and left!” Chacha exclaimed dramatically, pointing her rear camera forward and snapping a few photos.

Ye Zi understood immediately. She snatched Sun Yuzhi’s ID and car keys and fled in an instant.

Sun Yuzhi froze for a moment, then roared, “Ye Zi! You don’t even have your driver’s license yet, what are you doing with my car keys again?!”

Rong Guang looked away and gave Chacha a thumbs-up. “Well done. What level of Plants vs. Zombies are you on?”

“I just unlocked the angry Squash skill, the one that can crush enemies with its butt. The Squash Squad is on its way to provide support.” Chacha said to Rong Guang with a completely serious face. “Look, the squad leader of Team One is getting out of the car.”

Jiang Yuan opened the rear car door and got out. She glanced at Rong Guang and Chacha, her expression ugly. “Did you just take pictures?”

Rong Guang neither confirmed nor denied it.

She blinked, looking at the face before her, which bore a slight resemblance to Jiang Ruyi’s. “And you are?”

“From the production services department.” Jiang Yuan sneered. “I suggest you delete those photos right now. A single photo doesn’t mean anything. You’re just a minor supporting actress, you’d better just film your scenes quietly and stop trying to steal Ruyi’s thunder…”

Rong Guang’s gaze wandered, treating her words like a droning chant.

Then her eyes fell on a spot not far behind Jiang Yuan, and they suddenly widened.

Jiang Yuan’s position created a visual misperception for her. She could only see Rong Guang’s expression, which now looked… utterly shocked.

She thought she had frightened Rong Guang. Feeling a mix of schadenfreude and contempt, she thought to herself—Ruyi said this girl had some tricks up her sleeve, but it turns out she’s just a weakling putting on a brave face.

“Scared now? I’m telling you, it’s too late—” Jiang Yuan said with a malicious smile.

A minor actress with no real status, who landed a supporting role by sheer luck, was late for the script reading on her very first day. This would cause a lot of trouble for several departments in the crew.

If handled correctly, she could even be accused of delaying the filming schedule and be directly fired and kicked off the set.

Jiang Yuan had seen a rough version of the script and knew how important Rong Guang’s character was.

Since they were already enemies, she might as well push harder now. Maybe she could even get her kicked out of the crew for good. That way, Ruyi would have a chance to get the role!

Therefore, she absolutely could not let this tiger grow.

If she waited until Rong Guang actually started filming and the show aired, once she reached a point where she could compete with Jiang Ruyi, the consequences would be truly endless!

“Too late for what?”

A cool, somewhat detached female voice sounded from nearby. The moment Rong Guang heard it, her eyes lit up with excitement—she hadn’t expected to run into Chu Feiliang here!

The main cast of The Eldest Princess had joined the production a week earlier than the supporting actors. Their work was not only complicated but also lengthy.

She had thought Chu Feiliang would be in the special canteen for the main cast by now, eating breakfast while reviewing her script.

She never expected to meet her here…

Thinking about that video, Rong Guang’s face flushed red again, and she averted her gaze slightly.

While Rong Guang’s mind was racing, Jiang Yuan couldn’t pay attention to much else.

Who wouldn’t recognize Chu Feiliang’s voice?

Her face instantly turned deathly pale. Her mind was filled with one thought: How much did Chu Feiliang just hear? How much did she see?

At this time, in this place, how could anyone else be arriving to join the crew?

Just as Jiang Yuan stood frozen in place, her face pale, a girl’s frantic scream came from inside the gate. “Aahhh, Chacha baby! I’ve brought my little buddies to back you up!”

Everyone’s gaze shifted in that direction.

They saw Sun Yuzhi slam on the brakes and try to pull Ye Zi down, muttering, “Sit your ass down!”

But Ye Zi stubbornly clung to the edge of the convertible’s windshield with one hand, still shouting Chacha’s name, as if she desperately wanted to leap over the windshield and perform some unrestrained parkour on the car’s roof to make a dazzling entrance in the sunlight.

In the end, Ye Zi overpowered Sun Yuzhi with sheer brute force and emerged victorious!

Sun Yuzhi, no longer young, pudgy and weak, was panting from exhaustion.

He walked up to the group, drenched in sweat, surveyed the situation, and asked, “What on earth is going on?”

His tone shifted as he turned to Chu Feiliang with a slightly fawning and polite smile. “Xiao Chu, back from breakfast?”

Chu Feiliang’s gaze swept almost imperceptibly over Rong Guang before she gave a lazy smile. “Mm, decided to take a walk after eating. And what do you know, I came back just in time for a big show. I was just asking, what did this young lady mean when she said, ‘Scared now? It’s too late’…”

She paused here before continuing, “Too late for what? Care to satisfy my curiosity?”
