Chapter 40: The Great Credit Grab
“But I don’t want to play with Mo Ming!” Fu Su snapped, glaring at me.
I simply turned my face away. “Then I won’t compete.”
“You dare trick me!” Fu Su shot to his feet, killing intent radiating off him, looking like he was about to transform and devour me.
I looked at him calmly. “From just now until now, we’ve been negotiating. Do you intend to use your status as a god to pressure me, a mere mortal?!” I stared at him coldly, unafraid.
His eyes flickered, narrowing slightly. He was so arrogant that it would be even more shameful for him to use his divine status to suppress me.
“Xia Xiao Lan is, after all, a mortal. The difference in your strengths is too vast.” Godfather finally spoke again. Whenever Godfather speaks, a major decision follows. Fu Su and I, along with everyone else, looked at Xuan Yuanchen. He, too, looked at Fu Su seriously for once. “You are guaranteed to win.”
Geez, even Godfather thinks I’m destined to lose. Well, how can a human possibly defeat a god?
Fu Su smirked and spread his hands. “I can seal my divine power and play with her.”
Xuan Yuanchen’s glasses flashed. “Good. We will seal your divine power. After your power is sealed, you will lead a team, choosing members from among the freshmen, and enter the Magic Cube with Xia Xiao Lan’s team for a credit competition. How does that sound?”
A credit competition!
Out of the blue!
“Deal!” Fu Su glanced at me with a wicked smile. “What about you?”
“Deal!” Mo Ming and I said simultaneously. Mo Ming looked at me, his green eyes full of trust.
We looked at Fu Su again. He chuckled contemptuously and flew up with Xuan Yuanchen. As Feng Lingcan leaped into the air, he looked down at me seriously. “Even with his divine power sealed, Fu Su is still quite strong. Don’t underestimate him.” After his warning, he left with Xuan Yuanchen and Fu Su, disappearing among the stars.
“They’re finally gone~~~~” I stretched. “Thump!” Senior Jiang Yan, as if finally relieved, collapsed onto the ground. “If they hadn’t left, I would’ve kept cursing.”
Mao Mao was taken aback. “So, Sister Xiao Lan, you said all that just to drive them away?”
I grinned mischievously. “Guys hate it most when girls chatter endlessly.”
“Oh~~~~” Mao Mao nodded in understanding. “Guys hate it when girls complain.”
I crossed my arms. “Exactly!”
Slowly, Si Yi Nuo and Qing Ming gave me a thumbs-up. I giggled. Senior Jiang Yan, lying on the ground, also lifted his foot, giving me a big toe-up.
“I don’t find you annoying,” Mo Ming suddenly said seriously from beside me.
I raised an eyebrow. “You don’t count!”
Mo Ming lowered his head and said no more.
“Sister Xiao Lan, what are you going to do tomorrow? Who are you going to team up with?” Mao Mao asked anxiously.
I looked at everyone. Senior Jiang Yan, the encyclopedia of the Six Realms, was still lying lazily on the grass, while Senior Qing Ming’s expression was serious. Si Yi Nuo timidly raised his hand. “I… will join…”

“Are real battles~~~” Senior Jiang Yan, who had been lying down for a long time, finally sat up, but he was still listless, holding the blood bag in his mouth. Everyone lowered their heads, their faces grave.
Senior Jiang Yan lifted his eyelids and looked at me. “Each module will transport you to a real mission location. Complete the task, get the credits, then be transported to the next location you choose, and continue. Each module has a different number of credits, but the total is fixed. The Waste House family stayed with Mo Ming and me on the grass, gradually falling asleep. I was so sleepy that I couldn’t sit up straight anymore and leaned against Mo Ming’s shoulder. I looked ahead. Someone sat down gently beside me. It was Senior Jiang Yan, a blood bag in his mouth. “It’s starting…”
“Yeah!” I nodded seriously. “Senior Jiang Yan, I had a dream, a prophecy in my dream. Do you believe it?”
Senior Jiang Yan’s expression turned serious, his turquoise eyes slowly narrowing. “I do. Since you have such a special ability, why wouldn’t I believe it? What did the prophecy say?”
I gazed at the golden clouds flowing in the morning light. “The prophecy said, ‘it’ is coming.”
“It? Who?” Senior Jiang Yan’s turquoise eyes stared intently at my face.
I looked at him seriously. “The future.”
He froze, furrowing his brow, deep confusion in his eyes. “The future… the future is coming… what kind of prophecy is that…”
“That’s why I’m asking you. Aren’t you the encyclopedia of the Six Realms?”
Senior Jiang Yan furrowed his brow deeply. “If ‘the future is coming’ counts as a prophecy, then it should mean… a different future…”
A different future… What the heck is that…
I don’t care whether the future comes or not.
I don’t care which future comes.
I only care about the woman who warned me, whether she is my mother.
If she is, then she’s still alive! I must find her!
The classroom was already full of people. Everyone was a bit surprised to see us from the Waste House again today. The dark-skinned girl bounced over, chewing her gum. “Why are you guys here today?”
Senior Jiang Yan looked at the zombie beside her. “Is your zombie okay? He was dismembered into eight pieces last time.”
The zombie looked at us. “Uh—”
