RIACMET chapter 162

Collecting "Interest" First

Da Jun’s eyes flashed dangerously, as if he wanted to devour Jiang Nian. He clenched his teeth and growled,

“You little bitch! You owe—”

Bang!

The last word was barely a whisper, but Jiang Nian still caught it. Without hesitation, he slammed the side of his pistol into Da Jun’s neck and punched his lower abdomen.

“What’s that? You cursing your mother now? Whose fault is that? Your mouth stinks. Been eating too much shit?”

A few more strikes followed, the final one landing squarely on Da Jun’s face. As he tried to lift his leg to retaliate, Jiang Nian swiftly kicked him in the knee.

With a pained grunt, Da Jun crumpled to the ground, his face twisted in agony.

Half of his face began to swell rapidly. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. His jaw was clenched, his breath was shallow, and veins bulged on his neck and forehead. The skin around his throat turned purple, yet his eyes remained full of venom.

Jiang Nian’s rebellious streak flared to a new level. He stepped forward and kicked Da Jun straight in the chest.

“Stop looking at your daddy with that disgusting face!”

He’d seen eyes like that too many times before. Back in school, when he was just a “good kid” from a single-parent home, he’d been blocked from using the bathroom countless times. Of course, those guys all ended up drinking toilet water afterward.

He’d been harassed at part-time jobs, once nearly smashing a manager’s face into a deep fryer.

One traitorous idiot had even tried to force himself on him after being rejected. The guy almost didn’t survive it.

From beating up underclassmen in back alleys to standing up to bullies, Jiang Nian had many personal achievements.

He wasn’t born a fighter. But if he didn’t fight back, people treated him like a soft persimmon—something to squeeze or bite into.

What a joke.

He would only lie down if he wanted to. The only person who was allowed to be rough with him or nag him was his big brother from his real family.

“…”

Da Jun was on the verge of passing out from the last kick. Xiao Liu shouted, scared and angry:

“It was his dad who didn’t tell you! It had nothing to do with us!”

He glanced at Chen Shanmin and the others, who were walking closer.

“What are you yelling for? Lost your balls?”

Jiang Nian didn’t even look at him. He left Xiao Liu to be dealt with by the soldiers. There was no need to pass blame around—Chen Shanmin’s family was going to end up much worse off.

Xiao Liu was no match for the soldiers. After a brutal hit, he curled up on the ground like a shrimp, crying out in pain.

“Do you really think you don’t know what you’re involved in? You’ve got the nerve to say it’s none of your business?”

After getting all that off his chest—literally and figuratively—Jiang Nian felt much better. He knew how to fight and knew just where to strike to cause the most pain without killing.

He was a little embarrassed to show this side in front of his teammates, especially since Uncle Li still treated him like a kid.

But as long as Brother Jing didn’t find out, he’d be fine. He’d act like a sweet boy again and beg for snacks from everyone later. Just…keep it a secret, alright?

His teammates were stunned at first, then oddly relieved. Uncle Li’s mouth twitched, as if he were holding back a smile. He seemed satisfied. This was good—Jiang Nian was handling things himself, which was more satisfying than doing it for him.

Liao Yu’s eyes sparkled with excitement. He finally got to see his “godfather” unleash his fighter-gangster side. With reflexes like that, Liao Yu knew he’d never win a fight against Jiang Nian, even without superpowers.

Perhaps Da Jun thought Jiang Nian wouldn’t dare kill him; that could explain why his eyes were still full of spite. But he was also starting to sense that something was very wrong.

Seizing the moment, he turned his head slightly and winked at Chen Shanmin and the others, signaling for them to speak up.

“Niannian, what’s going on?”

“Yeah, Jiang Nian, what’s wrong with you? Let’s talk this out. We’re family…”

Chen Shanmin and Chen Xiuling both stepped forward hurriedly, trying to sound concerned. Meanwhile, Chen Lin quietly pulled out her phone and tried to make a call.

Jiang Nian had been watching their every move. The corners of his lips curled into a cold smirk.

“Who do you think you are?”

The next moment, he turned the pistol, which had previously been aimed at Da Jun and Xiao Liu, and fired without hesitation.

Bang!

“Aah!”

Chen Lin’s scream tore through the night. Her right palm and phone were blown to pieces, and her left hand was injured, too. Blood splattered everywhere as she collapsed in agony.

“There’s no need to worry about warning anyone now.”

Jiang Nian’s voice was calm and indifferent. He stared coldly at her bleeding hands.

Those were the hands that had gripped his neck in the previous life, forcing him to drink poison, nutrient solution, and virus-laced water.

“…”

The whole thing happened in a blink. No one could react in time. Even Liao Yu and the others were frozen in shock.

After a few seconds, Chen Xiuling came to her senses, shrieking and scrambling toward her daughter.

“Ah! Linlin! What’s wrong? What’s wrong with you?!”

Then she turned hysterically to Jiang Nian.

“Jiang Nian, are you crazy?! What are you doing? You’re insane!”

Bang!

A second shot exploded near her feet, cutting her off mid-sentence.

Chen Xiuling tumbled sideways, clutching Chen Lin. Her face twisted with rage and fear; her whole body trembled like a leaf. She turned to scream at her husband.

“Chen Shanmin! Are you dead or what?!

“…”

The woman’s shrill cries finally snapped Chen Shanmin out of his daze. Seeing his daughter bleeding on the ground, he shouted,

“Linlin!”

Then he turned to Jiang Nian. His face was pale with disbelief.

“Jiang Nian! You’ve lost your mind! What are you doing? How could you—”

His voice rose with emotion until it broke. Then he fell silent when Jiang Nian pointed the gun at him.

Instantly, cold sweat broke out on Chen Shanmin’s forehead and face.

“…”

He struggled to catch his breath and calm down, trying to steer the conversation back on track.

“I tried to call you to let you know about the address change, but you didn’t pick up…”

Jiang Nian snorted coldly.

“You think I buy that excuse? Couldn’t you send a message?”

“I…”

Chen Shanmin fell silent, thoroughly humiliated. He stood there stiffly, unable to argue.

Jiang Nian added,

“You lied on purpose. And so did I.”

In truth, none of it mattered anymore. He just wanted to shoot, and Chen Lin gave him the perfect excuse when she tried to make that call.

This wasn’t a TV drama where you followed the director’s script. Only an idiot would attempt a stunt like that right in front of him.

In his previous life, Chen Lin had fed him sedatives disguised as nutrient fluid, which had sent him to a horrible death.

She stood by and watched the zombies devour him. She also watched Brother Jing rush in and hold his mangled body. His heart was shattered.

How could he not hate her?

How desperate and painful must it have been for someone who loved him so deeply to watch him die or turn into a zombie?

Chen Lin and Xia Weiwei were always the type to take risks. With her stepmother whispering poison in her ear, Chen Shanmin had chosen cowardice. He “cooperated” just to protect himself.

Well, now he was just collecting the interest.

“…”

Chen Shanmin looked at his wife and daughter, feigned calm for a moment, and then said,

“It was my fault, Jiang Nian. I’m sorry. But you can’t just shoot your own sister. Let’s talk this out.”

Jiang Nian’s lips curled coldly.

“If I told her to die, do you think she would go willingly? For the record, I don’t have any siblings. My mom only gave birth to me. If you don’t believe me, feel free to ask her right now.”

“…”
