Chapter 33: The Self-Criticism Essay
Shen Bumian was currently sitting in the back row of the classroom, in no mood for the lecture. It was a theory class.
The main topic was the history of ability development and human evolution.
Zhou Yizhou didn’t like such boring classes either, so he was also sitting in the back, lost in a daydream.
Not long after they sat down, Qin Luzhi followed and sat down beside them.
At the front of the room, an old professor opened a light screen and began reciting lengthy knowledge while displaying it.
Shen Bumian’s mind was a blank slate. On his desk lay a flawless sheet of white paper, and next to it was an expensive pen. He had no idea how to begin writing.
A familiar deep voice came from beside him. Qin Luzhi lowered his voice and asked him, “What are you thinking about?”
Shen Bumian, propping up his chin, turned his head slightly and asked in an equally quiet voice, “Why are you here?”
Shen Bumian glanced around the classroom. Everyone was wearing first-year uniforms; Qin Luzhi stood out conspicuously.
He could already see many people frequently turning their heads to look, which was about to draw the professor’s attention as well.
However, the professor just squinted his eyes and stared for a few seconds before continuing his lecture.
Only then did Qin Luzhi answer Shen Bumian’s earlier question.
“Someone else might try to cause trouble. I’m keeping an eye out.”
Shen Bumian understood. Qin Luzhi was worried that someone else, like the person from before, would make a move from behind the scenes to test his ability, so Qin Luzhi simply decided to attend class with him just in case.
Shen Bumian was astounded. Qin Luzhi really was a man of his word. A few days ago he said he would protect him, and it turned out he truly meant it every single day.
At this moment, Shen Bumian felt a surge of respect for Qin Luzhi. People who kept their promises so diligently were truly rare.
He twirled the pen nimbly between his fingers, his mind once again starting to brainstorm how to write the self-criticism essay.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Qin Luzhi staring at his hand, and an idea suddenly came to mind.
Shen Bumian sat up straight, gave Qin Luzhi a sweet smile, and softened his voice, “Senior Qin, I don’t know how to write a self-criticism essay.”
Through Shen Bumian’s clear pupils, Qin Luzhi clearly saw his own stunned expression.
Shen Bumian hadn’t even made his request yet when Qin Luzhi heard his own mouth open, seemingly out of his control, and utter words he himself hadn’t expected, “I’ll write it for you.”
This time, it was Shen Bumian whose eyes truly widened. Did Qin Luzhi just say he would write it for him?
Were those words that Qin Luzhi would say? It felt a bit surreal. Qin Luzhi was way too easy to talk to.
Qin Luzhi also sat up straight, looking directly ahead, appearing to be listening to the lecture with exceptional focus. After a long moment, he added, “After all, you did call me ‘senior.’ He Jing says that as a senior, one should be happy to help others.”
Shen Bumian thought to himself that it seemed to make sense; those were definitely words He Jing would say.
Qin Luzhi was quite receptive to advice; there was no reason not to listen to a friend’s words.
“You’re so kind. Do you help everyone who asks?”
No, Qin Luzhi thought to himself, but his mouth said, “It depends on the situation.”
Shen Bumian no longer had any worries. He felt that for a small matter like this, Qin Luzhi was willing to help in his heart.
He happily placed the white paper and pen on Qin Luzhi’s desk, thanking him with a beaming smile. Qin Luzhi felt a part of his heart collapse.
Shen Bumian knew he couldn’t let someone help for nothing, so he made a decisive decision.
“Qin Luzhi, let me treat you to lunch!”
Zhou Yizhou watched in awe. As expected, not even Qin Luzhi could resist Mianmian. It was a good thing he and Mianmian were from the same planet.
Otherwise, Planet One would be in danger! After all, even a pillar of strength like Qin Luzhi could potentially switch sides.
Qin Luzhi naturally nodded in acceptance of this thanks. For the rest of the morning’s classes, Qin Luzhi attended them all with Shen Bumian.
With a major problem solved, Shen Bumian even paid more attention in class, while Qin Luzhi kept thinking about Shen Bumian’s words.
He felt that Shen Bumian’s way of speaking was a form of natural, innate flirtation. It was strangely alluring. Who could possibly resist that?
At noon, Shen Bumian took Qin Luzhi and Zhou Yizhou out to eat. He chose a relatively remote place, quiet yet cool.
The foot traffic was a bit sparse, but the food was delicious.
After the meal, Qin Luzhi parted ways with them and returned to his dorm alone. As soon as he sat down, he took out the sheet of white paper.
The paper, which he had folded and put in his pocket, was a bit wrinkled. He spread it out and pressed it flat with a book.
After thinking it over, Qin Luzhi decided to use a different sheet of paper. He tucked the original one between the pages of a book and placed it on the bookshelf.
When He Jing and the other guy knocked and entered, that was the scene they saw.
Qin Luzhi was sitting upright at his desk. On the clean and tidy desktop lay a single sheet of white paper.
Qin Luzhi’s brows were furrowed as he looked down. On the paper were only two elegant and powerful words: Self-Criticism.
Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought he was signing some major business deal. He Jing sprayed out a mouthful of soda.
“What the heck, Boss, what are you doing? What did you do wrong?”
Mu Yi leaned casually against the wall, looking thoughtful. “This is for sister-in-law, right?”
He had also been at the scene that morning and knew about Shen Bumian being punished with writing a self-criticism essay.
He originally thought Qin Luzhi was going to train and was going to follow him, but it turned out he was just going to protect someone.
So after the farce ended, he went to the training room by himself.
As for He Jing, he was still fast asleep in the dorm. The two of them hadn’t woken him up, so he had missed out.
Now, knowing that something must have happened, he wailed, “What did I miss while I was away? Mu Yi, quick, tell me everything.”
Mu Yi could only briefly describe the scene, but that didn’t stop He Jing from imagining the entire process in his head. In the end, he just said, “Sister-in-law is awesome!”
“Oh my, what a rare sight for the boss! A first in his life, I have to record this for you.”
Saying that, he opened his personal terminal and, with a series of clicks, recorded Qin Luzhi.
In his nineteen years, Qin Luzhi had gone through a rebellious phase, but he had never been caught and forced to write a self-criticism essay or anything of the sort. His experience was zero.
Now, facing this blank sheet of paper, he shared the same frustration as Shen Bumian.
Mu Yi saw Qin Luzhi’s struggle and offered a suggestion, “Why don’t you search for a template on the star-net? The three of us have no experience, we can’t help you.”
Qin Luzhi thought that made sense and began to search: How to write a self-criticism essay?
A huge number of results popped up at once. Qin Luzhi found a relatively comprehensive one and opened it.
He browsed through it, thought it was feasible, and selected that one to start imitating.
With a reference, Qin Luzhi learned quickly, and before long, he had written out a long, flowing essay.
As he wrote, he deliberately altered his handwriting, concealing his usual writing habits.
He had never seen Shen Bumian’s writing, so he didn’t imitate his handwriting, but Gu Yixi would definitely be able to recognize his own.
He Jing and Mu Yi had come to find him to talk about training that evening. After they finished, they had already left Qin Luzhi’s room.
After Qin Luzhi finished writing, he sent a message to Shen Bumian.
There was no reply from the other side. Qin Luzhi guessed he was probably taking a nap.
After thinking for a moment, he sent a message saying he would give it to him in the evening, then tidied up and took a nap himself.
Shen Bumian was indeed sleeping. He had casually taken off his terminal, tossed it on the bedside table, and lain down. He only saw Qin Luzhi’s message when he woke up.
【Qin: The self-criticism essay is done. I’ll give it to you at dinner time. 】
That was some efficiency. He had only slept for a little over half an hour, and Qin Luzhi had already written it for him.
Hmm, then he would go find him at dinner time. After getting it, he’d go hand it in.
