CAADTB Chapter 67

Collar

Shang Sui hadn’t spoken for a long time.

After so long, Shi Qi finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. He wanted to ask, “Have you finished reading? Did you accidentally flip to the wrong page?”

Before he could open his mouth, tears suddenly fell onto the diary without any warning.

Shi Qi froze in place.

“Oh my god.” Qin Shuhe stared in shock. “My ge is crying?”

Lin Yan turned his head. “Xiao Tao-jie!”

Chu Tao was completely focused on the screen. “Got it all on camera. Don’t worry.”

“I’m sorry.” Shang Sui reached up and rubbed his eyes. “I got your diary wet.”

After a long pause, Shi Qi finally found his voice. “It’s fine, you…”

The words “Don’t cry” were on the tip of his tongue, but Shi Qi’s eyes couldn’t help drifting to Shang Sui’s face. He stared at him, unmoving.

Contrary to his aggressive appearance, Shang Sui cried in complete silence. His long lashes drooped down, and the mole at the corner of his eye was soaked with tears.

Shi Qi felt a sharp tug in his chest. His mind went blank.

So good-looking.

Shang Sui looks so beautiful when he cries.

All the comforting words vanished from his head. Shi Qi stared at him without blinking. “Why don’t you cry a little longer?”

“What does Shi Qi mean?” Qin Shuhe was shocked again. “My ge is crying like that, and he’s smiling?”

“Maybe it’s exactly what he wanted.” Lin Yan showed a look of understanding. “If I made an Alpha cry, I’d be thrilled too.”

“Wuwuwu! I said from the start that on the day of the proposal, he’d be the one crying like a mess!” Jiang Yan had been tearing up since earlier. Shen Qianyu said helplessly, “Are you crying along with him? Even Shang Sui isn’t crying that hard.”

At the sound of Shi Qi’s voice, Shang Sui’s lashes trembled slightly, and a dazed look flickered in his eyes.

It had seemed like he was about to stop crying, but suddenly the tears fell again, completely out of his control.

“Why are you crying again?” Shi Qi lost the mood to admire him and started to worry. “Don’t cry, or you’ll get dizzy.”

Shang Sui’s voice was hoarse. “I think I…”

Tears were still falling, but those wet eyes were gradually taking on the look of a hunter.

Shi Qi didn’t even have time to register his movement before Shang Sui grabbed his wrist.

“I’m so happy.”

His voice still trembled like he was crying, almost a little neurotic. He pulled Shi Qi’s hand to his face, nuzzling the back of it like a spoiled child. “I’ll remember this day.”

Shi Qi hadn’t yet reacted. “Mm, I’ll remember it too—”

“Let’s stay together forever.”

An immense pressure came crashing down like a tidal wave. Shen Qianyu’s expression changed first. “He’s been triggered into a rut.”

“He triggered a rut from a proposal?!” Jiang Yan was stunned. “Isn’t that a bit much!”

The sweet pheromones in the air were jubilant, broadcasting the Alpha’s ecstatic mood. But to the bystanders, it felt like falling into an ice pit, cold all over.

“Holy shit.” Qin Shuhe nearly dropped to his knees. “What’s going on? Why is my ge like some kind of human weapon? Normal Alphas don’t go into rut like… like this…!”

Everyone had, to some extent, encountered an Alpha in rut before, but none had ever left them with this kind of unsettling feeling.

Omega instincts made Lin Yan tremble all over. He couldn’t help but look toward Shi Qi, who stood at the eye of the storm.

Shang Sui was absentmindedly ruffling his hair. It was an especially intimate gesture, but in this situation, the more normal it appeared, the more abnormal it seemed.

“Shang Sui won’t hurt Shi Qi,” Shen Qianyu said, having guessed Lin Yan’s concern. “There are tools in the house. They can handle it themselves. We should leave now.”

“What tools, condoms?” Lin Yan muttered. “Would that even work? It looks like Shi Qi is about to get fucked to death.”

“Sorry to trouble you all today.” Shang Sui looked unerringly toward where they were hiding, his tone tight with restraint. “Please go now. I’m about to lose control.”

Jiang Yan couldn’t take it anymore and scratched his head, getting up first.

The repulsion between Alphas was especially intense. He was covered in goosebumps. “We’re leaving! You two figure the rest out.”

Qin Shuhe, being a Beta, was less affected and barely managed to remember why they were even gathered in the first place. “Congrats, congrats. Uh, happy proposal! We’re out!”

Chu Tao turned off the camera, her face pale. “I-I can’t walk…”

Jiang Yan quickly took the camera from her hands while Qin Shuhe helped support her as they headed out.

Amid the chaos, Shi Qi suddenly got playful. Without warning, he yanked his hand back.

Shang Sui was stunned for a moment.

Shi Qi acted as if he were going to leave with the others and said nonchalantly, “Then I’ll head out too. Good luck.”

Shang Sui grabbed his hand again in a flash. The grip was loose, but it felt impossible to break free. “No. Don’t leave me.”

Shen Qianyu saw that Lin Yan hadn’t moved. “Stop watching. An Alpha in rut has an intense sense of territory. If he lashes out, no one will be able to stop him.”

“Shi Qi’s been through a rut with him before. He’ll be fine.”

Even so, Lin Yan couldn’t help glancing back one last time before leaving.

Compared to everyone else, Shi Qi seemed unusually compatible with Shang Sui’s pheromones. It was only then that Lin Yan remembered their astonishing compatibility.

He saw Shang Sui holding Shi Qi’s hand as they entered the small villa. The Alpha lowered his gaze, adopting a submissive posture. Shi Qi reached out and closed the door himself.

As the lock clicked into place, the two of them were left alone in the room.

Dense pheromones enveloped Shi Qi. Shang Sui could no longer hold back. “Xiao Qi…”

Shi Qi allowed him to nuzzle up and sniff at the side of his neck. “You promised me before that you wouldn’t use chains during your rut.”

Before Shang Sui could respond, Shi Qi spoke first, issuing a clear command, “No chains.”

“Are you worried about me?”

“…”

Shi Qi was at a loss for words. He wasn’t sure whether to say Shang Sui was being dramatic or just severely lacking in security.

Shang Sui said with a smile, “You’re so good to me.”

“No chains.” He gestured toward the long table. “But I still wasn’t entirely at ease, so I had this custom-made.”

Only then did Shi Qi notice a rectangular box about thirty centimeters long sitting on the table. It was pitch black, its surface smooth as a mirror.

Shang Sui unlocked the box’s combination lock. As it opened, the hinge let out a faint mechanical click. Nestled in velvet inside was a metallic collar, its edges gleaming with a cold luster. Beside it lay a matching wristband made of the same material.

“There’s a built-in anesthetic in the collar. Once you press the switch on the wristband, it’ll inject the anesthetic into the wearer’s neck within a minute.”

Shi Qi’s gaze paused.

This was Shang Sui’s solution? Switching from chains to a collar?

“If my rut doesn’t subside for a long time, or if it gets too much for you, just press the button on the wristband.” Knowing he would soon completely lose control, Shang Sui did his best to explain everything clearly. “Then contact Shen Qianyu. He’ll send someone over to take care of it.”

Shi Qi asked calmly, “What happens to you after the anesthetic is injected?”

Shang Sui gave an ambiguous answer. “I’ll probably just sleep it off.”

Shi Qi refuted him inwardly. Liar.

If it were really that effective, why hadn’t he used this from the start?

The anesthetic could only offer a short-term reprieve. Once it wore off, Shang Sui would isolate himself until he was completely exhausted; only then would the rut end.

When Shi Qi didn’t say a word, Shang Sui gently took his hand. The restraint wristband, adorned with the dazzling lily of the valley from the proposal, was fastened around Shi Qi’s wrist.

To him, there was no more beautiful or purer form of bondage in the world.

Even as the rut muddled his senses, and the instincts he’d been suppressing screamed louder and louder in his mind, Shang Sui could clearly feel his rationality slipping away. He was about to become nothing more than a beast driven by desire.

Shang Sui reached into the box and took out what remained.

Shi Qi’s pupils contracted.

The collar was attached to a long chain, coiled like a snake in the lower layer of the box.

Over a meter in length, the chain was the same deep black as the collar. A tool originally meant to restrain rut had inexplicably taken on an air of ambiguity.

Shen Qianyu had said Shang Sui only needed the anesthetic collar. The chain was nothing but his personal indulgence.

Noticing that Shi Qi’s gaze had unconsciously fallen on the chain, like a cat intrigued by a new toy, Shang Sui took off the leather choker around his neck, fully revealing his neck.

“Will you put it on me?”

His voice was soft, the light brown of his eyes like whirlpools that pulled one in.

During his rut, all of Shang Sui’s unique traits became amplified, making him fatally tempting to Shi Qi.

Shi Qi’s body reacted before his mind. By the time he realized it, both his hands were already holding the collar.

Click.

The hard metal locked into place, encircling the Alpha’s neck.

Shang Sui, bound by Shi Qi’s own hands, felt his mood lift even more.

The long chain hung down from his neck. He picked it up on his own and placed it into Shi Qi’s palm. “Here, hold it tight.”

Shi Qi did as instructed and gripped the chain tightly, his fingers unconsciously rubbing along its surface.

Shang Sui looked on with interest. “Like this, you kind of look like my master.”

“?”

That bizarre remark left Shi Qi silent for a moment. He responded coolly, “I think your brain’s been fried by your rut.”

Though his mouth was sharp, his body was heating up, bit by bit.

The sweet scent of honey gradually mixed with a fresh, vibrant floral fragrance. As he looked at Shang Sui, Shi Qi felt his mouth go dry.

The stark contrast between the pitch-black metal and Shang Sui’s pale skin was striking. Fine strands of hair fell softly around his face. The collar meant for restraint only emphasized the Alpha’s aggressive aura, like a wild beast that refused to be tamed.

Shang Sui’s gaze swept down to between Shi Qi’s legs, sharp as a blade, and caught the subtle change there. “Hmm? I was just teasing, but it turns out Xiao Qi actually likes this kind of thing.”

“You’re such a pervert.”

Caught off guard by the unexpected accusation, Shi Qi yanked the chain hard. “Are you done?”

His movement was rough. Shang Sui let out a muffled grunt and staggered forward, pulled by the force.

Shi Qi took advantage of it and sat down on the sofa. A strange feeling bubbled up in his chest. He gave the chain another tug.

Shang Sui was forced to bend down, one hand braced on the edge of the sofa.

Shi Qi was now under his shadow and realized Shang Sui was looking him over without the slightest restraint. He wanted to say, What are you staring at? Aren’t you the one who asked me to put the collar on you?”

But before he could speak, Shang Sui drew his hand back, bent his knees, and knelt down directly at Shi Qi’s feet.

The Alpha in heat had a tempting flush at the corners of his eyes and brows. Seeing Shi Qi freeze, he spoke slowly. “Let me serve you, Master.”

Shi Qi’s face turned completely red. In his fluster, he accidentally tugged the chain again.

Shang Sui let out a soft groan. “It hurts.”

Shi Qi immediately dropped the chain and asked, “Did I hurt you?”

“It hurts so much.” Shang Sui looked up at him, his gaze clinging to Shi Qi’s beautiful face. “I want a kiss.”

There was a significant height difference between them. Usually, when they kissed, it was Shang Sui lowering his head to reach him.

It was rare for Shi Qi to be in the upper position during a kiss. After a brief hesitation, he leaned down and took Shang Sui’s lips in his own.

Compared to the pheromones wafting through the air, the taste inside Shang Sui’s mouth was even sweeter, like some syrupy dessert. Hearing his breathy gasps, Shi Qi’s tongue involuntarily slipped deeper inside.

At first, Shang Sui obediently let him take the lead. But gradually, he reversed the roles, greedily tangling their tongues together.

Shi Qi quickly lost all strength to resist the kiss. As he instinctively tried to pull back, a strong, slender hand locked tightly behind his head and pressed him down into the kiss.

Shang Sui mumbled something, directly pointing out what kind of state he was in.

“…” Shi Qi blushed and shot him a glare, muttering defiantly, “You’re no better.”

“Then, Master, can you satisfy me?”

Shi Qi couldn’t be bothered to correct his choice of address and asked the question that had been on his mind, “Wearing something like this, being treated like a freak—you’re really okay with that?”

“I was never normal to begin with. If it’s for you, I’ll be happy.” Shang Sui licked his lips one last time. In that moment, he looked less like an Alpha in rut and more like a well-trained pet.

It was as if, so long as Shi Qi was near, Shang Sui would always behave.

“We’re going to do it, right?” After a moment, Shi Qi hooked a leg over Shang Sui’s shoulder. “Since you’re already kneeling, you can start by helping me.”

The soft scent of lily of the valley bloomed in full force at the most pheromone-rich spot on his body.

Shang Sui immediately buried his face eagerly against Shi Qi’s thigh.

“But before that.”

Shi Qi took off the metal band on his wrist. He didn’t hold back; the wristband flew cleanly through the window and landed straight in the flowerbed outside.

The look of total control vanished from Shang Sui’s face, replaced by a stunned daze. Shi Qi felt a rush of satisfaction.

Maybe he was crazy, too.

“I’ll stay with you through your rut. No more of those ridiculous things, just me.” Shi Qi reached out and tugged the chain. “The dog collar on your neck can stay. It suits you.”

The pheromones, which had only just stabilized, suddenly surged. When the Alpha lost all reason and pounced on him, Shi Qi didn’t dodge. Instead, he held onto Shang Sui’s shoulders.

Once someone had tasted indulgence, quitting it would be painful.

That thought alone sent a jolt of excitement through Shi Qi.

Shang Sui stared at him without blinking, voice on the verge of breaking. “Why are you smiling?”

“I was just thinking that once your rut hits, the only face you’ll think of is mine.”

Shi Qi’s eyes sparkled. He didn’t feel like he had said anything outrageous, but was simply happy about the outcome. “That means you’ll never be able to leave me, right?”

A beat later, Shang Sui let out a low laugh.

“I never could to begin with.”

Author’s note:
I think both of them are crazy.
