My drunken, hazy state made my words carefree, and Jade’s face quickly turned crimson.

“…I see. Do you want something even sweeter…?”

“Yeah, I do…”

Jade said this, took a sip of his mead wine, and brought his lips to mine again. From the slight gap in our lips, the mead flowed into my mouth, and as I swallowed it, Jade’s tongue entered. Though confused, I accepted Jade’s tongue.

It was sweet, slightly cool… and delicious…

When I entwined my tongue with Jade’s, he placed his hand behind my head, supporting my unsteady body. The ticklish sensation of our tongues intertwining felt so good that I slowly wrapped my arms around Jade’s back.

“Nii-san, does kissing feel good?”

“Yeah. Jade’s kiss is sweet and delicious. I like it…”

“—!?”

As my face softened, Jade tightly embraced me, burying his face into my neck. His gesture reminded me of the young Jade, and I patted his head.

“You’re the one who provoked me, Nii-san.”

“Huh…? Ah… mm…”

Jade kissed my neck repeatedly, strongly sucking on the area near my collarbone. His hand slipped under my shirt, stroking my back.

“Ah! Ngh…!”

Every time Jade’s slightly cold fingertips traced my back, my body reacted sharply. As he licked and kissed my neck, touching me, I couldn’t help but respond sensitively.

“Ah… Jade…”

“Charles Nii-san…”

When I called his name, Jade gazed at me tenderly, his face melting into an expression of warmth. Seeing that face gave me a sense of security, and Jade’s warmth felt so comforting…

“Jade… I’m… so sleepy…”

“Eh? Nii-san? Charles Nii-san!?”

I faintly heard Jade calling out to me. But I let myself drift off into a cozy sleep, feeling blissful and leaning entirely on Jade.

-The Next Day-

When I woke up, I found myself lying in bed. My head… it felt like it was splitting open.

Grasping my aching head, I made my way to breakfast. I couldn’t remember much from the previous night—only that the alcohol Matt made was delicious.

I must have caused trouble for Jade…

Thinking that, I arrived in the living room and met Jade’s gaze.

“Good morning, Jade.”

“Good morning, Nii-san.”

I had expected him to be angry because I had been a burden, but he seemed fine, which allowed me to let out a sigh of relief.

“Sorry about last night, Jade. I guess I drank too much and fell asleep midway…”

“It’s fine, Nii-san. Judging from your tone, it seems you don’t remember last night.”

“Huh? Did I do something rude to you?”

“No, not at all. You were very cute, Nii-san.”

He gave me a cryptic smile, but what did he mean by ‘cute’?

After finishing breakfast, I returned to my room to change. When I happened to glance at the mirror, I was shocked.

“Wait, what!?”

There were red marks on my collarbone and chest in several places. Seeing those marks triggered blurry memories from the previous night.

The sweetness of the alcohol, soft and sultry voices, and the numerous deep kisses…

Overcome with embarrassment, I buried my face in my hands.

The tender, intimate acts I’d shared with Jade in the heat of intoxication—it all came flooding back. Suddenly, Jade’s comment about me being ‘cute’ made sense, and my face burned hotter.

“Doing something like that with my brother… that’s definitely not okay…”

Even though I regretted it, recalling the events of last night made my heart pound for some reason. Determined not to think about it further, I quickly buttoned my shirt to hide the marks and headed off to work.

Afterward, my father and I continued traveling across the territory, successfully securing grain for storage. The remaining issue was finding a place to store it. Jade suggested, “What about borrowing vacant warehouses owned by the trade guilds?”

Trade guilds often have storage warehouses across various regions. We sent letters requesting the use of unoccupied warehouses for grain storage. Although some guilds declined due to the short notice, a few replied, expressing interest in discussing the matter further.

Today, we’re visiting one of those guilds, the Meidel Trading Company.

Meidel is Marianne’s family business, and I was nervous about meeting her family for the first time in this lifetime.

The grand, imposing building of the Meidel Trading Company stood on a prime street corner. As I hesitated at the entrance, Jade patted my shoulder, offering encouragement. “You can do this, Nii-san.”

When I pushed open the heavy wooden doors, the bustling activity of merchants filled the space. After giving my name at reception, I was directed to a waiting room with sofas.

While waiting, I glanced around and noticed a familiar face—a woman with milk-tea-colored hair tied back, working diligently.

“Marianne?”

I couldn’t help but call out. Marianne turned and looked at me, surprised.

“Sir Charles!? What brings you here?”

“I could ask the same, Marianne. Are you helping out at the company?”

“Yes, I’ve been interested in the trading business, so I started assisting a year ago.”

“Is that so? You didn’t mention it in your letters, so I was surprised.”

At my remark, Marianne smiled bashfully.

“By the way, Sir Charles, are you here on business?”

“Yes. Actually, I’m meeting Mr. Colin to discuss renting a vacant warehouse from Meidel Trading.”

“I see. Oh? And this must be…”

As Marianne and I spoke, Jade, who had been seated on the sofa, had silently moved to stand beside me.

“Apologies for the late introduction. This is my younger brother, Jade.”

“Nice to meet you, Marianne. I’m Jade, Charles’ younger brother. It seems my Nii-san has always been in your care. Please continue to look after him and me as well.”

“Nice to meet you, Jade. I’m Marianne, Charles’ close friend. It looks like we may have a long relationship ahead, so I look forward to working together.”

As the two exchanged greetings with smiles, looking into each other’s eyes, the receptionist called out to them.

After parting ways with Marianne, Jade and I headed to the lounge where Colin was waiting.

When we entered the room, a man who bore a striking resemblance to Marianne greeted us.

“You must be Charles. Pleased to meet you; I’m Colin Meidel.”

“Nice to meet you. I’m Charles Wahlman, and this is my younger brother, Jade.”

“Jade Wahlman. Pleased to meet you.”

“Jade Wahlman… Ah! You’re with Enrich Trading Company, aren’t you?”

Enrich Trading Company?

The unfamiliar name made me tilt my head, but I remembered that Jade had started a business with some former classmates.

“You’ve heard of us? We’re still a small company, so it’s an honor that someone on the Meidel Company board knows us by name.”

Jade smiled warmly, and Colin, looking pleased, began to engage Jade in conversation.

“Ah, my apologies, Charles. I seem to have gotten carried away. Let’s get down to business about the empty warehouse, shall we?”

Colin listened with great interest as we discussed stockpiling.

“Understood. We’ve been struggling with warehouse management on our end, so we’d be happy to cooperate.”

“Really? Thank you so much!”

After Colin agreed with a handshake and signed the contract, Marianne entered with tea. I thanked her, and she smiled kindly.

“Oh? Charles, do you know Marianne?”

“Yes. We met at a ball and have been corresponding by letter ever since.”

“I see. So you’re the one Marianne has been writing to! She always looked forward to receiving your letters, and I was curious about the gentleman behind them.”

*GLOSSARY:

  • Nii-san/Nii-sama/Onii-san = (Big/Elder) Brother

☝🏻I’ll be using these throughout my translation. Jade would call Charles ‘Nii-san’ while Lien would call him ‘Nii-sama’.
