Chapter 10: Marriage Announcement
Zhou Zizheng woke up in the middle of the night. He checked the time; it was 1 a.m. There were a few messages from Yu Haozhou. He squinted and opened the chat, ignoring the text message and scrolling up. He clicked to enlarge a photo, and his eyes shot open.
He scrolled through the pictures, one after another. His heart raced, and his body grew hot. He threw off the covers, and when he saw the last message, a warm liquid rushed into his nose.
“Damn it.”
The 20-minute drive took him half the time to get home. He went straight to the second bedroom on the far right, but the door, as he expected, was locked. He was about to go get the key, but he heard Yu Haozhou’s sleepy voice from inside. “Don’t bother. I have the key. You’re not getting in without me opening the door.”
Yu Haozhou yawned. If Zhou Zizheng hadn’t shown up, he would have fallen asleep. Zhou Zizheng suppressed his desires, his voice low and husky. “Zhouzhou, open the door.”
“You want me to open the door? Easy,” Yu Haozhou said with a smirk. “First, write a guarantee that you’ll never lock me in the house again and you won’t restrict my freedom. I want to go wherever I want.”
Zhou Zizheng was silent.
Hearing no sound from outside, Yu Haozhou pressed his ear to the door. His brows furrowed. “That’s strange. Why is he quiet?”
“Did he go to get a pen and paper?”
Yu Haozhou’s heart was itching with curiosity, but he didn’t dare open the door, fearing a trap. He waited another ten minutes, leaning against the door and almost falling asleep. Suddenly, he heard a click and was woken from his drowsiness.
Rubbing his eyes in confusion, he wondered where the sound came from. Then he heard the click again at the door. He turned and saw the solid doorknob rattling, a faint light from the hallway outside peeking through.
He couldn’t believe it. He scrambled up, rubbed his eyes again, and looked closer. This time, he clearly saw the doorknob shaking and more light seeping in.
“F*ck!”
Zhou Zizheng was actually prying the door open! The next second, an elbow from outside smashed the doorknob to the floor, leaving several round holes in the door panel. As Zhou Zizheng was about to push the door open, Yu Haozhou lunged forward, blocking the doorway with all his might. If he let him in, he was done for!
All that trouble would have been for nothing, and he’d be the one who lost.
The force from outside was too strong. Despite all his effort, he and the door slowly moved backward. Then, he saw Zhou Zizheng’s face.
Their eyes met. Yu Haozhou had completely lost. Burning with anger, he made a last-ditch effort. “If you hadn’t locked me in first, would I have done this?!”
His words had no force behind them.
Zhou Zizheng’s eyes scanned his body. Yu Haozhou was already in his pajamas, showing none of the charm or flirtatiousness from the photos…
Yu Haozhou tried to leave, but Zhou Zizheng grabbed the back of his neck, pulling him into an embrace. With his other hand, he slid it down his silky pajamas, feeling his abdomen. He licked Yu Haozhou’s earlobe, his voice low and hoarse. “How did you take those photos to be so seductive?”
“…”
Yu Haozhou gritted his teeth, wanting to slap himself. A few hours ago, he must have been crazy to take those pictures and send them to Zhou Zizheng as leverage. He was definitely crazy.
But Zhou Zizheng wasn’t normal either. What kind of normal person would break a door open?
“Not talking?” Zhou Zizheng chuckled. “Then let’s just get to it.”
Yu Haozhou asked him, “How long are you going to keep me locked up, Zhou Zizheng? Are you possessed?”
Zhou Zizheng leaned into his neck and took a deep breath. “I’ll give you your freedom when you figure it out.”
“Figure out what?”
“That you’ve fallen in love with me.”
“Then you might as well keep me locked up.”
“…”
Zhou Zizheng picked Yu Haozhou up, ignoring his struggles, and carried him into the bathroom where he had taken the photos. He stripped him down to his underwear, then folded his arms and looked at him leisurely. “Strike the poses from the photos you sent me.”
Yu Haozhou’s face flushed with shame. He glared at him. “Are you sick, or am I?”
Zhou Zizheng laughed. “You posed so well in the photos.”
Of course, he did! It was to make Zhou Zizheng lower his guard. Who knew it would backfire so spectacularly?
Yu Haozhou picked up his clothes from the floor, trying to leave. A flash of darkness crossed Zhou Zizheng’s eyes. He reached out and easily trapped him between himself and the wall. The cold, smooth wall made him shiver. Yu Haozhou’s head was pinned against the wall, his face squeezed and distorted.
Zhou Zizheng was always a little insane when it came to these things. Like a poor man who hadn’t had meat in years, he had finally found a piece of it and wanted to devour every last bit.
Perhaps it was the years of unrequited love he couldn’t express, or perhaps it was because Yu Haozhou was quite comfortable being served. After the previous one or two experiences, apart from the initial resistance, he gradually cooperated actively in the end, which undoubtedly gave Zhou Zizheng more confidence.
Yu Haozhou stared at himself in the mirror, feeling a little dazed. Zhou Zizheng leaned in from behind him and bit his shoulder. “Did you show those photos to anyone else?”
Yu Haozhou bit his lip and didn’t answer. Zhou Zizheng deliberately bit him again on the same spot. Yu Haozhou gasped in pain before speaking in a hoarse voice. “No… no.”
The man’s powerful chest completely enveloped him. Zhou Zizheng smiled in satisfaction. “My wife is so obedient.”
In the dead of night, Yu Haozhou didn’t know how many times he was coaxed into calling him “Husband.” The punishment finally ended when the sky began to turn a pale gray.
Having had this experience before, Zhou Zizheng no longer dared to be reckless. After cleaning Yu Haozhou up, he held him in his arms and applied medicine. Yu Haozhou was still conscious. Having learned his lesson the last time, he didn’t care about losing face. After all, Zhou Zizheng’s stamina was, well, a little exaggerated. His body was more important, so he let him have his way.
During this rare moment of tenderness, Yu Haozhou lay in his arms, his eyes half-open. He reached out and played with Zhou Zizheng’s earlobe. “Zhou Zizheng, I want to go out and have fun. I’m bored at home.”
His compliant tone made Zhou Zizheng’s heart soften. He couldn’t refuse. “Okay, but we have to set some rules.”
Yu Haozhou’s fingers tightened on his ear. “Rules? My parents don’t even have this many rules for me. Zhou Zizheng, you’re being unreasonable.”
“Then what should I do?” Zhou Zizheng didn’t feel embarrassed to act like a spoiled child to him at all. Instead, he hugged him tightly. “What should I do if you fall for someone else and kick me out?”
“…”
Yu Haozhou was a little surprised by his insecure response. It made the claim that he loved him seem more believable. Yu Haozhou was easily swayed. After hearing that, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything harsh. He stammered awkwardly, “I… I’m already married. I know my place.”
Zhou Zizheng’s voice was ominous. “You said you liked someone else.”
Yu Haozhou almost blurted out that it was him. He stopped himself and instead said, “I was lying.” Then he added, “It was your fault for being so crazy.”
Zhou Zizheng was so happy he almost lost control. After repeatedly asking for confirmation, which began to annoy Yu Haozhou, he finally calmed down. “Zhouzhou, please give me a little bit of your love. I don’t want to waste our time anymore.”
Yu Haozhou had fallen asleep and didn’t hear him. When he woke up, Zhou Zizheng had already left for work. There was a lunch he had prepared in the kitchen; all he had to do was heat it up in the microwave. As he was eating, a video call from Zhou Zizheng popped up.
Yu Haozhou was still a little unaccustomed to their new, peaceful way of interacting. He answered the call with his usual grumpy tone. “What?”
In the video, Zhou Zizheng was in a neat suit, eating the same kind of meal as him. He smiled. “Just wanted to see you.”
Yu Haozhou grumbled that there was nothing to see, but he picked up a phone stand and placed his phone on it, adjusting it to the best angle.
They both ate in silence. After a moment, Zhou Zizheng asked, “Is the food to your liking?”
“It’s okay,” Yu Haozhou replied, a little confused. “You have so much money you can’t spend it all. Why are you wasting your time cooking?”
“It’s healthy, and I feel good eating it.”
Yu Haozhou thought he might not be familiar with the concept of being the richest man. “If you pay enough, you can get any kind of healthy food you want.”
Zhou Zizheng disagreed. “There’s no need to waste money on that.”
Yu Haozhou couldn’t be bothered to argue. The atmosphere fell silent again. Zhou Zizheng looked at him and asked, “I applied some medicine for you. Is it still inflamed?”
“…All you do is ask questions. I didn’t see you feeling bad for me when you were doing it.”
A smile finally reached Zhou Zizheng’s eyes. “Who could resist?”
“Zhou! Zi! Zheng!” Yu Haozhou’s ears turned red.
“I’m not teasing you anymore,” Zhou Zizheng said with a laugh. “Mom and Dad said they’re going to announce our marriage tomorrow. Do you want to post it on WeChat Moments?”
Yu Haozhou poked at his rice with his chopsticks, not quite grasping the question. “What would I post on my WeChat Moments for?”
“Aren’t you going to invite your friends?” Zhou Zizheng asked back.
“…” Yu Haozhou suddenly realized something. His friends pretty much all knew Zhou Zizheng, and they knew the two of them never got along. If he posted this, his WeChat would explode. They would all come to him asking why he would marry Zhou Zizheng or if his family forced him into it.
Yu Haozhou was about to say, “No need.” Private messages were enough; there was no need to announce it to the world. But then he looked up and saw Zhou Zizheng’s expression, a mix of anticipation and nervousness.
…This is really unbearable.
“Whatever,” Yu Haozhou shrugged. “You post it, I’ll forward it.”
“Okay!” Zhou Zizheng agreed excitedly. “I’ll let you know when I’m about to post it.”
Is he really that happy? Yu Haozhou wondered.
