PSMD – Chapter 161

Wen Yuan’s excitement upon seeing that message was palpable even through the screen, but Qiu Yang didn’t reply immediately because they had already arrived at the hospital.

Shen Yuankai was getting thinner by the day, and the color in his face wasn’t very noticeable.

Seeing Shen Ningruo and Qiu Yang appear at the doorway, Shen Yuankai showed a faint smile and waved at them.

“Lao Yu just left,” Shen Yuankai said. “And you two arrived.”

Shen Ningruo sat on a chair nearby, looking at him worriedly. “Dad, how are you feeling now?”

“Quite good, don’t worry,” Shen Yuankai said with a sigh. “All I’m thinking about now is that pile of sculptures at home that I haven’t had a chance to properly appreciate yet.”

“I can take videos for you.”

Shen Yuankai nodded. “Alright, then you and Xiao Qiu go back home and take some photos and videos for me.”

“This weekend, Uncle,” Qiu Yang said.

Shen Yuankai nodded. “Okay.”

They stayed with Shen Yuankai for about an hour before leaving the hospital. It was summer, so night fell much later, and it was only just getting dark when they headed back.

Shen Ningruo looked dispirited. “Dad’s condition is getting worse.”

“Yes…” Qiu Yang stopped, hugged Shen Ningruo, and gently patted her back.

At this point, praying for recovery was almost impossible; they could only hope that Shen Yuankai would live a little longer.

Since being “claimed” by Qiu Yang, Wen Yuan’s initially cautious attitude changed dramatically, and he asked Qiu Yang many questions.

Qiu Yang answered them one by one.

Of course, besides that, he was also concerned about Qiu Yang.

Both siblings understood very well the key person who couldn’t be mentioned in their relationship, which made their interactions very harmonious and smooth.

By Saturday, Qiu Yang needed to go back to her old rented apartment because she wouldn’t be renewing the lease. She had to move the remaining items and clean the place for the landlord.

Wen Yuan learned about this plan and asked to join, saying he could help even with just throwing away trash.

So Qiu Yang gave him the address of Shen Ningruo’s complex and told him to come by himself.

Wen Yuan drove his Mercedes to the complex entrance and then messaged Qiu Yang, saying that besides being a mover, he also needed to be the driver.

Shen Ningruo couldn’t help but laugh. “You know, without the title of General Manager, President Wen acting as your brother is quite convincing.”

Qiu Yang nodded. “That’s just how he is.”

“Let’s go then,” Shen Ningruo picked up a bag containing other bags for packing things.

Wen Yuan got out of the car and waited for them. When he saw them appear at the complex entrance, his smile immediately brightened considerably.

“Jie.”

“…Director Shen.”

He really didn’t know how to address Shen Ningruo.

“Just call me sister-in-law. We’re not at work now,” Shen Ningruo raised an eyebrow, looking at him with a smile.

Wen Yuan immediately stood straighter. “Sister-in-law.”

Qiu Yang, standing to the side, was speechless.

How to put it? It was hard to say. She just felt that this scene was a bit strange.

She had thought Shen Ningruo might ask Wen Yuan to call her “brother-in-law” or something, but she unexpectedly said “sister-in-law.”

It was, admittedly, a little funny.

Wen Yuan took the bags and put them in the trunk, then got into the driver’s seat and took the wheel.

Shen Ningruo sat in the back seat, and Qiu Yang sat in the passenger seat.

Wen Yuan wasn’t really just there to be a driver; it was better if the passenger seat wasn’t empty.

“Let’s finish packing everything today. When we’re almost done, we’ll call a cleaning service to come tomorrow,” Qiu Yang outlined the plan on the way.

Shen Ningruo was playing on her phone in the back seat and nodded when she heard this. “Okay, sounds good. I’ll contact the cleaning service.”

“What should I do?” Wen Yuan asked curiously while driving.

Qiu Yang looked at his profile. “Didn’t you say you wanted to throw away trash?”

Wen Yuan chuckled. “Oh right, I forgot.”

It was morning, and traffic wasn’t bad at this time. Wen Yuan followed the navigation and drove the car into the underground parking lot.

It had been a while since she’d been back, and Qiu Yang felt a bit unfamiliar with the place.

She had already told Miao Yi that she was coming back and invited her to have lunch together.

Miao Yi didn’t refuse; she was very happy. As soon as Qiu Yang said she had gotten out of the car, she waited for Qiu Yang to appear.

“Yangyang,” Miao Yi’s face lit up with a smile when she saw Qiu Yang.

Qiu Yang took the key out of her bag and introduced Wen Yuan. “This is my brother.”

Wen Yuan greeted politely, “Hello, Miao Yi Jiejie.”

“Hello, hello,” she then turned to Shen Ningruo. “Hello, Director Shen.”

“Long time no see.”

Qiu Yang listened to them greet each other, her lips curving up slightly. She aimed the key at the lock. Normally, a turn to the right would open it, but she found the key wouldn’t go in at all.

Qiu Yang’s smile disappeared, and her brows furrowed.

Shen Ningruo was the first to notice something was wrong. “What’s up?”

“The lock has been changed,” Qiu Yang examined it carefully. “This isn’t the landlord’s lock.”

Miao Yi looked a bit confused. “No way…”

“I didn’t even know when this lock was changed.”

Wen Yuan was a man of action. “I’ll check for nearby locksmiths.”

A thought flashed through Qiu Yang’s mind, though she wasn’t entirely sure, and it was clear Shen Ningruo had thought of it too.

They exchanged glances and said the answer in unison: “Tao Sixian?”

Miao Yi blurted out a curse. “Holy crap! No way!”

Wen Yuan didn’t know, but he didn’t ask.

He knew he would find out.

Qiu Yang’s brows furrowed. She looked at Miao Yi and said, “Tao Sixian and Guo Ming’an are divorced.”

“And she seems to have lost her job too.”

Miao Yi got goosebumps. “Yangyang, if she’s really living here, that’s truly terrifying.”

“It is.”

Shen Ningruo’s face was serious. “She still has the nerve to come here.”

Based on Qiu Yang’s understanding of Tao Sixian, if she was resting at this hour, she would definitely be sleeping.

Tao Sixian was a deep sleeper, and besides, there was some distance from the bedroom to the door, so she might not hear the noise at the door.

Wen Yuan understood. “So, there might be someone living inside right now?”

“If she’s there, breaking in like this will cause her a certain shock. If she’s not there, we’ll change the lock, and she won’t be able to get in for a while.”

There was a lock-changing shop right at the complex entrance, and Wen Yuan had contacted this one, so the technician arrived very quickly, within just a few minutes, bringing his equipment.

After confirming Qiu Yang’s identity and agreeing on the price, the technician started working.

The electric drill made quite a noise, but there was absolutely no sound from inside. Qiu Yang let out a breath.

She wasn’t entirely sure if Tao Sixian was inside right now.

If Tao Sixian wasn’t there…

Before Qiu Yang could fully form this thought, a woman’s voice rang out from inside the house. “What are you doing!”

It was Tao Sixian’s voice, sounding angry.

The locksmith heard it and was a bit surprised. He turned to look at Qiu Yang.

Qiu Yang smiled. “It’s fine, Technician, keep going. The person inside stole my apartment.”

“Okay.” The locksmith wasn’t unfamiliar with such scenes, though he was always a little surprised. He could guess a bit; situations like this were probably couples or friends falling out. It seemed like the friendship between the woman behind him and the woman inside had broken down.

The technician quietly sighed.

Who cared? As long as he made money.

The door opened shortly. Before Qiu Yang and her group could enter, they saw Tao Sixian sitting on the sofa, looking furious. “Qiu Yang, my name and information are on the rental contract for this apartment too, it’s not just yours.”

“And you disturbed my sleep, did you know that?”

There were many empty beer bottles and cans on the coffee table, and the room smelled of alcohol.

Tao Sixian looked somewhat haggard and disheveled, with very noticeable dark circles under her eyes.

“I’m here to pack up the room today,” Qiu Yang said expressionlessly. “Please leave.”

“I’ll say it again, my name is on this rental contract…”

Shen Ningruo didn’t wait for her to finish. “Tao Sixian, you say this is your rented apartment too, but have you ever paid rent or utility bills even once?”

“I…”

“Since you haven’t, where do you get the nerve? We can completely sue you for this behavior. We have the transfer records. See what kind of outcome you’ll face.”

Wen Yuan and Miao Yi were a bit stunned by this and followed Qiu Yang and Shen Ningruo into the living room.

Tao Sixian looked impatient. She brushed back her messy hair and then covered her forehead. “Aren’t you annoying? I’m already like this, and you can’t even pity me, you’re still talking about suing me.”

“Thanks to you, my parents, who favor sons over daughters, look down on me even more.”

She closed her eyes as she spoke, looking like she hadn’t sobered up yet, hazy and with a clear bitter smile at the corner of her mouth.

“This is all your own doing.”

Tao Sixian’s eyes immediately widened. “My own doing? Qiu Yang, you say I brought this upon myself?”

“My parents favor sons over daughters, should I be blamed for my gender? Are you out of your mind? Why blame me!”

She almost roared, and her eyes quickly turned red.

Without thinking, Shen Ningruo picked up a can of beer from the coffee table, pulled the tab, and poured it over Tao Sixian’s head.

Tao Sixian cried out and dodged to the side. “Shen Ningruo, you damn it, are you trying to freeze me?”

“I think you need to sober up,” Shen Ningruo sneered. “I’m helping you.”

Qiu Yang rubbed her temples, not wanting to deal with Tao Sixian anymore. “Xiao Yuan, help me clean up the kitchen.”

“Got it.”

Miao Yi swallowed. “I’ll go with brother.”

This scene was more sobering than menthol oil.

The technician installing the new lock at the door was also stunned. He certainly hadn’t seen that the seemingly gentle woman was such a ruthless character.

Tao Sixian lay on the sofa, tears streaming from her eyes. For a moment, only her sobs could be heard in the room.

Qiu Yang and Shen Ningruo ignored her and went into the bedroom.

Fortunately, Tao Sixian hadn’t brought many things. Otherwise, given Tao Sixian’s current state, it would have been quite a headache.

After a while, Tao Sixian seemed to have finished crying and called out Qiu Yang’s name. “Yangyang…”

She hiccuped as she called out.

Qiu Yang didn’t have a good expression. She walked to the bedroom doorway and quietly looked at Tao Sixian’s current state. “Hurry up and take your things. Otherwise, I’ll consider them trash and throw them away.”

Tao Sixian’s face was covered in tears. “Yangyang.”

“You’re so heartless.”

“Has your love for me disappeared so quickly?”

Shen Ningruo walked over, put her arm around Qiu Yang’s waist, and stared coldly at her. “What did you just ask?”
