RoCD Chapter 95

Asura City (7)

As he gaped in astonishment, the woman changed yet again.

It was a gaze filled with malice and hostility. Bai Qu’s heart leaped as he saw the woman tilt her head slightly, staring at him with a look of utter annoyance.

“Why aren’t you dead yet? I thought you would have died in Asura City by now. Tsk, what an eyesore. So many assassins couldn’t finish you off before, and you’re still alive now? Bai Qu, you’ve got some serious luck, don’t you?”

The corners of her crimson lips curled into a sarcastic smile. Mysterious ripples spread through her scarlet eyes, as if trying to draw one’s very soul into them.

But the words from her mouth were like sharp swords.

Every single one was laced with hatred.

“And here I was, desperately suppressing my desire to get close to Youyou, all because I was waiting for you to die in Asura City. Bai Qu, you pretended to be Youyou’s lover to break us apart back then. I will definitely get my revenge for that. You just wait and see!”

Rushing to get all her words out in a single torrent, the woman shot Bai Qu a look of scorn and resentment. Then, she lifted the edge of her hood and began to affectionately caress Youyou.

“My dear Youyou, I can finally see you again.”

In an instant, she transformed from a cold beauty into a besotted woman. Fu Shu gently stroked the corner of Youyou’s eye, her voice languid and full of affection, her bewitching, beautiful face brimming with adoration.

“No one is allowed to harm my Youyou, so don’t cry anymore, okay? When I see you cry, Little Youyou, it’s like a knife to my heart. The pain is killing me.”

“You. Are. Fu. Shu.”

Bai Qu’s tone was filled with certainty.

But the woman—Fu Shu—paid him no mind. Bai Qu was so furious he laughed instead, wishing he could pull out a gun and blow her away, if she could even die.

“Fu Shu, let go of Youyou. If you don’t, I will make her hate you.”

A single sentence struck Fu Shu’s fatal nerve, rousing her vicious nature. She stared directly at Bai Qu, her expression icy and grim, her gaze deep and dark, as if her eyes had been quenched in poison.

“Why?”

Each word was forced out with extreme effort.

Through their shared memories, Fu Shu knew that Bai Qu had not been nearly as harsh when dealing with her other selves as he was being with her now.

But why? They were all more or less the same, weren’t they?

“Why? You have the nerve to ask me why? Fu Shu, the things you’ve done… do you really not know?”

His pale lips curled slightly. Seeing Fu Shu’s reaction, Bai Qu already had a good idea of what was going on. “Besides, based solely on what you just said… isn’t it only right that Youyou should hate you?”

“Bai… Qu.”

The red in her eyes deepened. Fu Shu’s face twisted for a moment, then just as suddenly became calm again.

Bai Qu: …

She really is… a psycho, isn’t she?

But the woman who emerged after this change was clearly not the first one who had appeared. Although this one was also cold and detached, she had a touch of humanity about her. Silently guessing the woman’s identity, Bai Qu lowered his guard, knowing that this newcomer posed no threat to them—or at least, not to Youyou.

“Hello. I am Mu Qingxue.”

It was the same face, but each incarnation appeared completely different. This one’s temperament forcefully suppressed the bone-deep bewitching aura of the original body. Mu Qingxue got up and knelt on the bed, her posture very solemn.

Bai Qu gave a curt nod, his jaw tense. His impression of Mu Qingxue was quite favorable—after all, with Fu Shu as a point of comparison, it was hard not to have a good impression.

Turning her head to look at the little girl lying on the bed, Mu Qingxue’s thin lips opened and closed, but in the end, no words came out.

With a soft sigh, she placed a restrained kiss on the girl’s brow. Mu Qingxue’s expression gradually blurred, and in her place, an evil, greedy female ghost took over the body.

The moment the female ghost appeared, she deepened the kiss, making it lingering and tantalizing. Her crimson lips traveled down from the girl’s brow, from her pristine eyes to her small, upturned nose, from her cherry-pink lips to her fair, rounded chin, even showing an inclination to pull open Youyou’s clothes.

Cough.”

Unable to hold back, Bai Qu made a sound to stop the woman. He rubbed his aching head and said, “Should I call you Na Lian, or Mo Qingwu?”

Hearing this, the female ghost slowly stopped what she was doing.

She gradually lifted her head to look at Bai Qu, and suddenly, her eyes curved into a bewitching smile. “Oh, so you’re my wife’s dear older brother. Big Brother-in-law can call me Wuyou. My wife gave me that name herself, you know.”

Her fingers, as soft as if boneless, involuntarily twirled a lock of red hair that fell across her chest. The female ghost smiled bewitchingly, but her eyes were surprisingly clear and innocent. If Bai Qu hadn’t, by this point, come to understand the common traits of these women, he too might have been fooled by the pure and guileless act she was putting on.

A half-smile played on his lips. Bai Qu said noncommittally, “Wuyou.”

“Mhm, Big Brother-in-law.”

Wuyou laughed so hard she shook like a flowering branch, as if Bai Qu’s acknowledgment was of the utmost importance. She took Youyou’s delicate hand in one of hers, intertwining their fingers, and said in a feigned tone of anxiety, “But Big Brother-in-law, you have to be careful of everyone besides me, including that pretentious Mu Qingxue. They are all very hostile toward you, you know.”

Seeing Bai Qu raise an eyebrow and look at her in disbelief, the female ghost smiled shyly. “Is Big Brother-in-law surprised? It’s really no big deal. It’s just that they all hold a deep loathing for anything my wife cares about.”

“Them? Or should I say… only them?”

“Eh?”

As if surprised by his question, the female ghost reacted and then said, “That should be right. The main personality is cold-blooded and doesn’t care about anyone. This time, it was because we sensed that Youyou was crying that we worked together to force her to come ashore.”

“Main personality? Come ashore?”

Keenly catching the keywords, Bai Qu raised an eyebrow, intending to probe for more information, but he found that the woman had changed again.

Her face was completely devoid of expression.

Like a wooden doll.

So this must be the “main personality” Wuyou was talking about.

Thinking this, Bai Qu’s expression remained serene as he gave the woman a small smile. “Hello.”

Because Wuyou had said this main personality didn’t love anyone, including Youyou, Bai Qu instantly developed a very favorable impression of her. His lips curved up almost imperceptibly, and a look of deep meaning flashed across his handsome, refined face. “I’ve just met those others, but they all seem to have…”

He paused before giving his assessment. “…some issues.”

Seeing that the woman showed no reaction and was only staring at him silently, Bai Qu tested the waters. “So, have you never thought about getting rid of them?”

Yao Yue, Fu Shu, Mu Qingxue, Wuyou—not a single one of them was a virtuous person. And that Wuyou, though she seemed like a good one… was in fact probably even more venomous than Fu Shu.

The woman: …

The woman had intended to ignore him, but for some unknown reason, as if compelled by a strange force, she said, “I can’t get rid of them.”

Bai Qu fell silent.

So, she had already tried?

The corner of Bai Qu’s mouth twitched, and he said no more. The woman, too, gently withdrew her hand and continued to kneel quietly on the bed without speaking.

This was not the same room as before.

Because the waters of the sea of blood were encroaching further into Asura City day by day, Bai Qu and the others had deliberately moved closer to the city center. They now occupied the top three floors of this building, while the rest had quickly been divided up by the other taskers.

At this moment, Su Ling was outside setting traps—some for warning, others for injuring. He was completely unaware of the woman’s arrival. Thus, when he returned and suddenly saw an extra woman in the bedroom, he looked as if he had seen a ghost.

“Who are you? How did you get in?”

Why couldn’t the system detect her presence?

Su Ling was inexplicably horrified.

The woman remained silent, merely casting a light glance at Su Ling before looking away. In truth, even she didn’t know why she was still here.

After all, the person they wanted to see, she had let them see. The person they wanted to touch, she had let them out to touch. But why?

A flicker of confusion passed through her blood-red eyes. The woman pulled the hood of her crimson cloak back over her head, leaving only her pale, almost luminous jaw exposed.

It made her look incredibly mysterious and strange.

“This…?”

“The women Youyou has met before are all incarnations of this person.” Revealing her identity in a single sentence, Bai Qu raised his hand to stop Su Ling’s questions, giving him a look that said they should talk outside.

Needless to say, Su Ling was utterly stunned.

He had never in his wildest dreams imagined that this woman who had suddenly appeared was Youyou’s… well, it was probably best not to let Bai Qu hear that particular title.
