ISWMQ – Chapter 10

Hearing this, Tang Yuan was stunned.

At first, she thought she had misheard. “Wh-what…?”

Who outshone whom?

Didn’t this morning’s press release say that Jiang Ruyi had completely overshadowed NO.1’s leader, Rong Guang, and won the director’s favor and approval?

Could it be that the press release was lying to her?!

Chacha repeated with a serious expression, “My Sister Guangguang outshone her. Her acting completely overshadowed hers. She… she was the sole… something-or-other turtle head!”

Rong Guang’s eyelid twitched. The thought of sending Chacha to school surfaced in her mind once again. “That’s called ‘to be the sole champion.’”

But that description didn’t seem quite right either…?

Rong Guang started to feel conflicted.

Chacha nodded in satisfaction. “Right, ‘to be the sole champion’—what’s a champion?”

“We’ll talk about that later.” Rong Guang stuffed a braised pork knuckle into Chacha’s hands and looked at Tang Yuan. “But don’t get your hopes up too high. I was just praised a bit by the director and Teacher Chu. Nothing has been decided yet.”

She certainly wasn’t that presumptuous.

No matter how outstanding her performance was at the audition, this was still The Eldest Princess. The strictness of its casting process was legendary in the industry.

Using a newcomer like her for this supporting role, no matter how you looked at it, seemed a bit exaggerated and excessive.

So even though Chu Feiliang, Zhang Nanchuan, and even Li Yan had praised her, Rong Guang didn’t dare to be overconfident. This wasn’t humility, just a realistic assessment of the situation.

“Your concerns… are also reasonable,” Tang Yuan stammered, unsure if Rong Guang was telling the truth or just making things up to reassure her.

However, based on her brief experience in the industry, what Rong Guang and Chacha said was most likely true.

Just then, Chacha’s puffed-out cheeks suddenly stopped moving. Her eyes instantly sparkled as she said, “Sister Guangguang, your friend request was accepted!”

Hearing this, Rong Guang’s hand went limp, and her chopsticks, not held firmly, fell onto the plate below.

A few drops of oil splattered right onto her face. Rong Guang wiped it away haphazardly, hurriedly cleaned her hands, and took the phone Chacha handed her.

Tang Yuan watched their excited state with a bewildered expression. Not daring to ask, “Whose friend request being accepted is making you so happy?” she went back to planning Rong Guang’s schedule while lowering her head to eat.

Meanwhile, Rong Guang stared at the message on her phone—“I have accepted your friend request. We can start chatting now”—so nervous that her palms began to sweat.

She had sent the friend request to Chu Feiliang last night before bed.

She had deliberated for a long time about whether to wait until the next morning to send it, lest she disturb Chu Feiliang’s rest or make her seem too eager, which might come across as opportunistic.

In the end, however, Rong Guang chose to hit send last night.

Chu Feiliang would eventually see what kind of person she was.

But her deep respect for Chu Feiliang was something she had to show as soon as possible.

All morning, she had been anxiously watching her phone, hoping the acceptance notification would come through, only to be disappointed time and again.

She knew Chu Feiliang was probably filming or busy, and didn’t have her phone with her… but she couldn’t stop the uncontrollable, wild thoughts.

Rong Guang even had the thought that maybe Chu Feiliang regretted giving her the number, but felt too awkward to decline, so she was just… planning to let the request expire.

Rong Guang took a deep breath, wiped her sweaty palms on her skirt, held her breath, and tremblingly typed a few words on the keyboard.

Rong Guang: “Teacher Chu, hello.”

The send button was within reach, and Rong Guang’s finger had even touched it when, unexpectedly, the phone screen suddenly changed to an incoming video call page.

And as luck would have it, Rong Guang’s finger couldn’t stop in time. With a light tap, she answered the call.

Rong Guang’s eyes widened instantly. She felt as if her respiratory system had been paralyzed in that moment, and she desperately needed to breathe in some oxygen.

The person on the other end also seemed surprised that Rong Guang had answered the video call so quickly. She was about to say something when she saw the utterly shocked face on the screen, with big, watery eyes like lychees.

Caught off guard, Chu Feiliang let out a couple of light laughs. Seeing that Rong Guang’s expression hadn’t changed at all, she finally said, “Are you that surprised to see me? To be this nervous?”

Rong Guang’s face turned red enough to explode. She felt like smoke was coming out of all seven of her facial orifices!
