Jung Heeyeon quickly accepted that reasoning. Changing beliefs that had been ingrained in him his whole life wasn’t easy. But he also didn’t want Director Yeon to get hurt, so it wasn’t difficult to understand. The hand that had been tracing his bare skin slowly withdrew, resting over his waist again—this time, over his clothes.
“Baby, you were too sick to even take suppressants, what was there to put into?”
“Then, if I get better, will you do it?”
At Jung Heeyeon’s completely innocent question, Director Yeon faltered.
“It only counts as sex if it’s a consensual relationship, Heeyeon.”
“But I want to do it with you, Director…”
“Haa.”
Faced with Jung Heeyeon’s unabashedly straightforward reply, the alpha chewed back a curse. Even as a rough growl rumbled in his throat, Jung Heeyeon kept chattering away, his lips moving nonstop.
“Director, did you not want to do it with me?”
Jung Heeyeon lowered his gaze, genuinely pondering the matter. He raised a hand and tugged at the collar of his clothes. Thanks to his slightly loose pajamas, his bare skin was fully exposed. His stomach, and even up to his chest, was covered in countless scars. Having never seen another omega’s naked body, he had no basis for comparison and struggled to judge whether his own body was decent or not. In the end, Jung Heeyeon chose to ask honestly.
“Is my body no good?”
“Where did you learn to say such bad words?”
Director Yeon furrowed his brows, swallowing a quiet sigh. They say a person who doesn’t know anything is more dangerous, and Jung Heeyeon was that exact case. Completely unaware of his own actions, he kept provoking and putting the alpha’s nerves on edge.
“Later when you’re ready. Heat cycles aren’t something you can control yourself.”
“I’m ready. We can even do it now.”
Haaa, fuck. Director Yeon barely held back his curse. His fingers brushed over the fair nape he had spent the night marking, a feeble attempt at self-restraint. Just what should he do with this fluffy baby? Just as the rational part of his mind clashed with his alpha instincts, a small sound broke the tension.
“Ah…”
“Our Heeyeon must be hungry. You’re really just a baby.”
Letting out a soft laugh, Director Yeon straightened his posture, shaking off a mix of emotions—relief or disappointment, even he wasn’t sure. Still seated on his thighs, Jung Heeyeon was lifted up effortlessly, sparing Director Yeon‘s lower abdomen the risk of further temptation from the omega’s lingering scent.
“You have to eat lunch. You barely had anything yesterday, rolling around in bed all day.”
As he carried the omega out, the man playfully nipped at the earlobe marked with bites, careful not to hurt him.
“Lunch? Did I oversleep?”
Hearing the word lunch, Jung Heeyeon blinked in surprise. Held securely in Director Yeon’s arms, he saw the bright daylight greeting him. No matter how sick he was, he always made it a habit to wake up in the morning—he hadn’t expected to sleep in this late.
“Director, what about going to the office?”
“I’ll go after I feed you lunch, baby.”
Director Yeon spoke casually as he set Jung Heeyeon down in a chair by the dining table. Truthfully, calling it ‘oversleeping’ wasn’t entirely accurate. After all, it was only around dawn that they had finally fallen into a deep sleep after hours of being in action.
The man, who had briefly dozed off while holding the sleeping, softly wheezing omega in his arms, got up and immediately began preparing a simple meal. Since Jung Heeyeon had gone nearly a full day without eating, the man was planning to feed him as soon as he woke up.
After finishing the cooking and returning to the bedroom to watch the omega sleeping in his bed, he found Jung Heeyeon opening his eyes.
“Oh… I see. Then I’ll eat quickly.”
“You can take your time. Employees like it when their boss shows up late.”
“Yes. I’ll eat well. You should eat too, Director.”
Jung Heeyeon had actually wanted to spend more time with Director Yeon, so instead of repeating that he’d eat quickly, he simply scooped up a spoonful of the porridge, generously filled with tender meat.
“But why did you make porridge?”
“Your body temperature was a bit high last night. I thought you might be feeling unwell. Your tongue was hot, too.”
Director Yeon placed his hand on Jung Heeyeon’s forehead again, checking his temperature. It seemed to have returned to normal, likely because he had sweated so much during his heat. He had been planning to give the omega some fever medicine after he woke up, which was why he made porridge in the first place, but thankfully, it didn’t seem necessary anymore.
“I’m not sick. And the porridge is delicious.”
“Then, how about coming to the office with me?”
Director Yeon watched the way Jung Heeyeon’s cheeks puffed slightly as he diligently ate his meal. Truthfully, he wasn’t thrilled about bringing him along. There was a certain aura that omegas had right after their heat, something subtle but undeniable. No one would dare be disrespectful, but the thought of another alpha seeing Jung Heeyeon’s face right now made his stomach twist unpleasantly.
Still, he made the offer because he wanted to give Jung Heeyeon whatever he wanted. And he didn’t feel great about leaving him alone in this big house.
“I’ll check with Haejin hyung first. If it’s alright, I want to see him.”
“Lee Haejin?”
“Yes.”
Jung Heeyeon nodded. He did want to go to the office with Director Yeon, but before that, he felt like he needed to meet Lee Haejin. It was his first time going through a heat, and there were a lot of things he wanted to ask another omega.
“Alright.”
Director Yeon’s response came a little slower this time.
His fingers tapped against the dining table—a sound small but strangely tense.

Lee Haejin rolled his car window down slightly, relieved that they had decided to meet outside. He had been on his way back from an errand when Director Yeon contacted him. The moment he heard Jung Heeyeon had gone through his heat, he immediately volunteered to personally pick him up. Soon after, he arrived in front of Director Yeon’s house and had Jung Heeyeon get into the car.
And now, as expected, a foreign pheromone scent was drifting off of Jung Heeyeon. Lee Haejin was almost obsessively averse to alpha pheromones, so being somewhere with good airflow, like this, was definitely preferable to a confined space.
“Heeyeon, is it okay if I roll the window down a bit more? Are you cold?”
“No, I’m fine. But, hyung, can I ask you something?”
Lee Haejin had been about to casually ask if his heat had gone alright, but instead, he turned slightly, looking over at Jung Heeyeon. Thanks to the turtleneck he was wearing, his skin wasn’t visible, but there was no need to see it—he could already guess the state of his body.
“Yeah, what is it?”
“Why does the director call me ‘baby’?”
“‘Baby’?”
“Yeah. Since I’m twenty, it means that I’m an adult, but he keeps calling me a baby. Even when we first met, I was already nineteen…”
Lee Haejin tapped his fingers against the steering wheel before answering with an easy explanation.
“It’s not really about the literal meaning of the word. It’s just… by the time you get to my age, twenty-year-olds seem like babies. Look outside—see that kid in the coat? What do you think about him?”
Just then, Lee Haejin noticed a young child passing by on the street and gestured with his chin in that direction. The child, who looked about six or seven years old, was walking while holding a parent’s hand.
“He looks like a baby.”
“Right? Even though he’s walking, he seems like a baby because he’s so much younger than you. It’s the same thing with you and older people. That’s why they all call you ‘baby.’”
“Oh, I get it now. Thank you for explaining it to me.”
Jung Heeyeon finally understood why Director Yeon called him that. Whenever he heard a word that didn’t match his age, it always felt a little strange. But if Director Yeon was only saying it because he was younger, then maybe it wasn’t so bad.
Actually, it felt kind of nice. The thought that he had his own special nickname made Jung Heeyeon fidget absentmindedly with his fingers. Director Yeon was the only one who called him that, so maybe it wasn’t wrong to think of it as a term of endearment.
“By the way, it looks like your heat has passed. Did you get through it okay?”
Lee Haejin asked casually.
“Yes. But how did you know I had a heat?”
“Because you reek of Director Yeon’s pheromones. …You’re not hurt, are you?”
“Director Yeon didn’t put it inside me.”
The blunt statement nearly made Lee Haejin slam on the brakes. Instead, he managed to steer the car smoothly to the side of the road and bring it to a stop.
“What?”
His voice came out sharper than he intended, his genuine surprise evident. An alpha leaving an omega untouched during their heat? But since it was that man, it wasn’t completely impossible. Even so, the fact that Jung Heeyeon had been the omega in question made Lee Haejin surprised that the man did that.
“Does that mean Director Yeon doesn’t want to do it with me?”
That’s definitely not it. Instead of voicing that thought, Lee Haejin held his tongue, letting a moment of silence pass.
“…Heeyeon, do you want to sleep with Director Yeon?”
He figured it was fine to ask—Jung Heeyeon was an adult now.
“Yes. You said before that if you like someone, it’s only natural to want to.”
“Do you want me to tell you how to make it happen?”
Lee Haejin pictured the man who must be scraping together every ounce of his patience and opened his mouth to speak. A glimmer of intrigue started to surface on the face of the handsome man with the gloomy demeanor. It was an expression rarely seen on Lee Haejin.
