Shen Yan held the little one in his arms, rubbing his chin against his head. “Your two fathers land at two in the afternoon. It’s not even seven yet.”
The three-year-old couldn’t quite grasp the concept of time yet. All he knew was that it was today. Today, he would get to see his fathers.
Shen Yan pinched his rosy, sleep-warmed cheeks. “When you wake up from your nap, you’ll see Uncle Su and Uncle Qin.”
It was going to take that long!!!
The little one’s eyes visibly widened as he recalled everything he did each day. Wake up, eat breakfast, then hold Brother Xiao Tang’s hand for a walk. When he came back, if he met Qiqi gege, he’d play with him. Then it would be time for lunch, then another walk in the garden, and then a nap…
He had to do so, so many things before he could see his fathers. The little one sat on the double bed, a small blanket draped over him, his little shoulders drooping. After breakfast and his walk, the little one was running around the living room when he heard the doorbell ring. Tang Dou opened the door. The boy standing outside was still dressed in black from head to toe, and even his shoes were a dull gray. Fortunately, Pei Qiqi now took adults’ advice when getting dressed and was wearing short sleeves and shorts.
“Qiqi gege!” The little one raced over in his toy car, stopping perfectly at the door.
Su Youli made a dashing stop and reached out his little hand toward Pei Qiqi, who stood straight at the entrance. With the adults’ permission, Pei Qiqi stepped forward and sat down in Su Youli’s passenger seat. The little one’s driving technique was completely chaotic; he was practically spinning the steering wheel wildly.
Pei Qiqi, who had been taught some basics about toy cars by his father, wanted to show the younger brother the correct way to steer. But when he saw the proud little face, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything. Pei Qiqi silently raised his hand and gripped the handle beside his seat with all his might.
His face bore an expression of facing death with equanimity. Youyou is so adorable. Even if we crash, I won’t complain! As the little car whirred away, Pei Qiqi marveled at how smoothly it was moving, going perfectly straight.
????
Pei Qiqi tilted his head. The little hands on the steering wheel were still spinning randomly, yet… the car was handling perfectly. Could it be… could Youyou do magic? Then he saw Shen Lin gege lounging on the sofa, a white remote control in his hand, and finally understood that Youyou wasn’t actually driving the car.
Phew~
Pei Qiqi let go of the handle and reached over to hold one of Su Youli’s hands. After driving around haphazardly for a while, Su Youli got tired. So he switched to “auto mode.” Yes, his car could drive itself! He had known that since his first day with the toy car.
The little one rubbed his hands, a bit sore from driving, and said to Qiqi gege, “Qiqi gege, it’s still a very long time before I can see my fathers.”
Pei Qiqi had heard him talk about this for two days now. His two fathers were coming to see him today. Why was it still a very long time?
“Elder Brother said I have to wake up from my nap before I can see them.”
Nap time was still a very, very long way away. Pei Qiqi blinked. His clever little brain made a ding sound.
He leaned closer and whispered, “You can take your nap right now!”
That’s right!!!!
Su Youli’s mouth fell open in an ‘O’ as he looked at Pei Xu with admiration.
“You’re so smart, Qiqi gege!”
A minute later, Su Youli parked his toy car in its designated spot and announced loudly to the adults sitting in the living room: “I’m going to take my nap now!”
Pei Xu stood beside Su Youli, the two little ones’ hands tightly clasped together. The clock in the living room showed it wasn’t even eleven yet. Su Youli usually took his nap between twelve and twelve-thirty. Qin Kun and Su Siwen were scheduled to land in Beicheng at 2:10 PM, when the little one might still be dreaming.
Shen Minyan hadn’t planned to bring Su Youli to the airport to meet them as the back-and-forth would be too tiring. But now, with the little one looking up, his delicate, adorable face beaming with a bright, carefree smile… if he wanted the stars in the sky, his brothers and father would pluck them down for him. Everyone knew the little one was saying this to see Su Siwen and Qin Kun as soon as possible.
There was hardly a moment’s hesitation before they agreed. Shen Yan lifted him off the floor and rested the little one’s head on his shoulder. “Then sleep. When you wake up, you’ll see Uncle Qin and Uncle Su.”
The little one quickly grabbed his elder brother’s shoulders and squeezed his eyes shut tight. Pei Xu tilted his head, watching the little one’s peaceful sleeping face, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. His idea had really helped Youyou. Su Youli’s background was no secret. Ever since Pei Qiqi became Su Youli’s friend, Pei Yi had often brought Qiqi over to visit.
So he had learned about Youyou’s story. He took Qiqi’s hand and glanced into the living room. No wonder the Shen family was all gathered today. Youyou’s two adoptive fathers were coming. The little one lay on his elder brother’s shoulder. He hadn’t actually been sleepy and had even sneakily opened one eye to blink at his second brother.
But with Shen Yan patting his back gently, in less than five minutes, the little one had fallen asleep. He had napped early, so he woke early, too. When he groggily sat up in bed and looked around, he couldn’t see his two fathers anywhere. Su Youli’s face fell. He clutched Stitch’s ears pitifully and called out for his fathers in a very small voice.
Tang Dou pushed the door open and saw the little one was awake. He smiled and brought over the clothes for him to wear. “Did you sleep well, Youyou?”
Su Youli pouted and didn’t answer.
“How about we get dressed, go downstairs to eat, and then go to the airport to pick up your fathers?”
Su Youli sat up in bed. “Go pick up Daddy!”
Tang Dou brought him short sleeves, shorts, a pair of little sandals, and a panda-themed sun hat. He also packed a small going-out backpack from the walk-in closet.
“That’s right.”
Overjoyed, Su Youli slid off the edge of the bed, pattered over, took the clothes from Brother Xiao Tang’s hands, and dressed himself. Tang Dou noticed how fast he was getting dressed, smiling to himself. The little one had surely broken his personal record for dressing speed. Su Youli got dressed, put on his backpack, puffed out his chest, and held Brother Xiao Tang’s hand as they went downstairs to eat.
Everything was ready. The whole Shen family mobilized, because no one wanted to be separated from Youyou. So Shen Minyan had the driver bring out the Cadillac limousine from the garage; the one that had been bought long ago and had been gathering dust ever since.
The little one sat next to Brother Xiao Tang, as excited as a kindergartener going on a spring outing, his little hands frequently reaching for his small backpack.
T/n: Youyou is counting down hours like I am to be done with these exams^_^. Also Qiqi’s thoughts are so cute and funny.
