He Fang never imagined that he would actually see the deliveryman standing at his doorstep, crying like a child.
In that instant, He Fang’s mind was filled with just one thought: how could he treat someone like this? The deliveryman was so beautiful, beautiful enough to evoke tender pity in anyone. And now, the way he was crying was practically condemning He Fang’s monstrous cruelty.
In that moment, He Fang completely forgot about whether he was socially anxious or not. His heart was so full of guilt that he felt even opening the door a second too late was hurting him.
He Fang only knew that his mind went hot all of a sudden. He swung open his door with a sharp movement and directly faced the deliveryman standing right there at the threshold.
The two of them, for the first time, looked into each other’s eyes in such a clear, unobstructed state.
The deliveryman seemed startled too by He Fang’s sudden action. His beautiful eyes widened as he stared at He Fang. The tears that hadn’t been wiped away yet fell from his cheeks, and his expression was still frozen in shock.
The other was stunned, and He Fang was shocked, too. The last time he had seen the deliveryman in person, the man had always looked muddled and half-unconscious. Now, for the first time, he was seeing him so clear-headed, with eyes rimmed red, standing right in front of him.
He… he should say something, shouldn’t he?
But He Fang, who hadn’t spoken to a clear-headed person in so, so long, suddenly remembered his social anxiety again. Instinctively, he wanted to shut the door and shrink back into his tiny room. However, the deliveryman noticed him trying to close the door and let out a pitiful whimper.
That soft little sound alone made He Fang stop closing the door at once.
The deliveryman’s shock faded, and it seemed that the sorrow welled up in him once again. He whimpered as he lifted his hand. In his hand was a breakfast—He Fang’s favorite buns from that shop. But at his feet, there were many more bags of buns. He Fang froze. Why did he buy so many?
“I’m sorry, customer, I don’t know what I did to make you unhappy, but if you tell me, I’ll fix it, please believe me.” The deliveryman’s voice carried a hoarse, aggrieved tone. As he spoke, tears welled up in his eyes again. “Customer, you’re my only friend. I don’t want to lose you. Customer, can you please not be angry? I’ll fix it.”
The deliveryman kept apologizing over and over, his words jumbled and incoherent.
He Fang knew that this time, he really must have done something wrong.
The deliveryman was holding up that breakfast he wanted to give to He Fang, his hand hovering mid-air, while his other hand quietly covered his face, as if he didn’t want anyone to see him crying so helplessly.
The deliveryman looked even more flustered than He Fang himself. He Fang couldn’t help but feel that this small mistake of his had made the other person suffer a lot.
“Come… come in first… come inside…” He Fang felt like his heart was about to explode. The fear of interacting with a real person made him instinctively lower his eyes. When he saw the breakfast in the other’s hand, he reached out with both hands, not daring to touch the deliveryman’s fingers. Instead, he cupped the bag of buns carefully in both hands. The warmth that met his palms was unexpectedly comforting. It was still hot.
“Can I come in? I did something wrong, but if you’ll let me, customer, will you still allow me inside?” The deliveryman’s stunningly beautiful face looked so timid now. The stark contrast made He Fang feel an inexplicable sense of reassurance.
“…Mm.” He Fang held the buns in his arms, turned around, and stepped aside to clear the doorway for him to enter.
The worry in the deliveryman’s expression changed a lot from the sadness just now. He did look happy, as if he was so excited that He Fang was willing to give him a chance to explain. He wiped his now-bright red eyes and said, “Then I’m coming in.”
He Fang noticed that he didn’t bring in the other bags of buns left by his feet. Staring at those buns, He Fang wasn’t sure if he should ask about them.
The deliveryman, who had been watching He Fang closely, keenly noticed him looking at those bags. His face flushed red. “These… I bought these while waiting for you to open the door. If the buns got cold, I’d just buy more. Even though I did my best to keep them warm, they’d still get cold, so I bought them a few times over. These buns… I’ll eat them over the next few days, I’ll take them with me when I leave.”
He Fang was already feeling guilty enough for making the other react so strongly over a misunderstanding. Seeing how serious the deliveryman was about it made He Fang feel even worse. He glanced at the empty corridor, then went back inside and carried the buns in with him.
He Fang shut the door behind him, his back facing the deliveryman, who, despite being tall, stood there like a shy little girl. He Fang’s heart pounded nervously.
This time was different from the last time. The deliveryman was fully clear-headed, and it was also the first time He Fang had ever invited him into his home. He was nervous, more nervous than he had ever been, even more nervous than when he’d stood on stage for his graduation defense.
It took He Fang a lot of effort to find his voice: “You… you can… find a place to sit first…”
“Okay, customer.” The deliveryman’s voice still carried a trace of a sob. He Fang snuck a glance back and saw that instead of sitting on the soft, comfortable sofa, the deliveryman had sat down on the other side of the coffee table, facing the sofa, on a small stool that He Fang had bought for reaching things placed high. The deliveryman, so tall and big, was now curled up on that tiny stool, palms pressed to his knees, looking a bit timid and a bit cowering.
He Fang’s feelings were a little mixed. He put some of the buns into the fridge and warmed some up for the moment in the kitchen microwave. Then he slipped into the bathroom. Because he usually lived alone and didn’t have the habit of closing the door, this was the first time he had ever shut the door to his bathroom.
Once alone in that little space, all his defenses and fears seemed to finally loosen at once. Only now did He Fang realize how violently his heart was pounding.
Aaaahhh. He’d let him in!
His mind was full of the moment when he’d first seen the deliveryman’s tear-reddened cheeks. That face—undeniably beautiful, tinged all over with a flushed red, those crystal-clear tears trembling on the verge of falling. It looked like he’d bitten his lower lip out of sadness, making the color of his lips look even brighter, like a freshly blooming flower, so vivid and dewy. That pitiful, wronged expression was practically branded into He Fang’s mind in sharp detail. Just thinking about it made him feel terrified. To be so beautiful—that was something truly frightening.
He Fang forced himself to calm down. He’d never been someone who cared much about other people’s looks, but now, being so directly and closely struck by such beauty, who wouldn’t feel like this? He Fang didn’t think there was anything strange about his reaction at all. He felt that even someone without social anxiety would have their heart racing after seeing that.
Dragging things out, he washed up a bit. When He Fang caught a glimpse of his own messy appearance in the mirror, he couldn’t help but blush a little, too. He’d been so absorbed in his games that he’d slept soundly, and now he looked rather unkempt and not very energetic. Facing that stunning face like this, He Fang couldn’t help but feel a shred of shame, too.
He Fang wanted to go out, but the moment he thought about how the deliveryman was still sitting on the small stool in his living room, he spent a long time giving himself mental pep talks. Only then did he finally manage to open the door. At a glance, he saw the deliveryman curled up on that small stool.
He seemed to be deliberately trying to shrink his presence, just like a kindergarten child who has done something wrong and is anxiously waiting for the teacher’s scolding. He sat there nervously, staring only at the back of his own hands, not daring at all to glance around.
He Fang put the reheated buns on the coffee table, then sat down on the sofa, which was diagonally across from the deliveryman. He didn’t dare to look at him directly, so for a moment, the atmosphere was a little heavy and silent.
As someone with social anxiety, he couldn’t take the initiative to start a conversation. He knew the situation was very awkward, but…
All of a sudden, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed something. He slanted his gaze slightly and saw that the deliveryman was secretly crying again. Tears were dripping, pattering down onto the back of his hand. Those long, thick eyelashes were damp with drops of tears clinging to them, with even a few tiny beads still hanging on, making him look especially beautiful.
But He Fang immediately panicked.
“Um… don’t cry… I’m not… angry.” He Fang hurriedly spoke up. He even forgot that he was the one who first broke the silence.
“I don’t want to lose contact with the customer. I want to always be with the customer. Customer, if there’s anything that makes you unhappy, please, you must tell me, okay? I will change. I really won’t let the customer down.” The deliveryman, whose beauty bordered on enchanting, couldn’t even lift his eyes because of the guilt.
He Fang scratched his hair. “Um, I… I’m sorry, this matter… this matter isn’t like that…”
Stammering, He Fang explained that he had originally wanted to send the deliveryman a happy birthday message in the middle of the night, but because he was too sleepy, he ended up sending “angry” instead, and then fell straight asleep.
“I’m… sorry, I didn’t expect…” that it would have such a big impact on the deliveryman.
He Fang really did feel extremely guilty. It was the first time in his life that something he said had been taken so seriously by someone else. The moment he thought about how he’d hurt someone who cared about him, He Fang couldn’t help but blame himself.
He Fang’s voice was very quiet, and he also felt extremely guilty. Just by looking at the number of buns, he could tell how long the deliveryman had been upset. He felt like he was simply guilty beyond redemption.
“Really?” While He Fang was silent, he suddenly heard the deliveryman’s voice filled with surprise and delight. He Fang secretly glanced at him out of the corner of his eye and saw the deliveryman staring with wide, round eyes, joy shining in them. “That’s great, that’s really great. You scared me to death. I thought you were angry because I’ve been inviting you every day to come to my birthday party lately.”
The other person looked as if a heavy burden had been lifted off his shoulders. He didn’t seem angry at all about He Fang’s mistake.
He Fang felt even more guilty. He curled up on the sofa. “I… I’m sorry.”
“As long as I know it was a misunderstanding, I feel at ease. Customer, you don’t have to say sorry. It’s just that I overreacted. I know that the customer is a very kind person, but I still misunderstood and thought the customer would cut ties with me. I’m the one who was being unreasonable.” Now that he knew it was all a misunderstanding, the deliveryman completely changed from his curled-up posture. He was warm and bright again. If it weren’t for the redness at the corners of his eyes, no one would believe he’d just been crying.
He Fang’s social anxiety flared up, but he didn’t want to make the deliveryman, who had just been crying so sadly, feel upset again. Forcing himself, he said, “You can go to the bathroom, wash your face, and then have something to eat.”
“Mm, okay.” The deliveryman, not shy at all, went straight into the bathroom. Only then did He Fang finally let out a long breath, immediately turning over and getting up to go to his room to tidy up his bedding a bit and straighten things up. At least it wouldn’t look too messy.
The deliveryman must have been hungry. Holding the buns, he ate in a way that was practically wolfing them down. Seeing him like this, He Fang felt guilty all over again. “Sorry for making you feel so sad on your birthday. You still have your birthday party today, right? I hope this didn’t ruin your mood.”
The deliveryman, biting into a bun, looked like someone who, in a romantic French restaurant, would be wearing an exquisite suit, more beautiful than the night view outside. Yet now, he was completely down-to-earth, taking a big bite that left a clear crescent shape in the bun.
“It’s fine. If you, customer, don’t come to my party, then the party will only have me alone.”
The deliveryman’s words made He Fang freeze in the middle of holding the bun. “Huh?”
The deliveryman seemed to say it very casually: “I didn’t have any friends to begin with. Customer, you are my only friend. So no matter what, I don’t want to lose you.”
He Fang was dumbfounded. Him? He was the deliveryman’s only friend? How was that possible?
With the deliveryman’s looks, even if people were just attracted by his appearance, there was no way he’d only have one friend. And that friend was him?
“You don’t like… making friends?” He Fang thought about it over and over and could only come up with this possibility. Maybe the other person’s standards for making friends were too high, too picky, so that’s why this happened.
“It’s not that. It’s… everyone just doesn’t like me.” The deliveryman, probably about eighty percent full, was now nibbling at the bun in small bites. “It’s just that… every time people walk past me, they always look at me with strange eyes…”
He Fang’s expression was puzzled. He guessed maybe it was because passersby were stunned by the deliveryman’s beauty, and those amazed looks were misunderstood by him as strange looks.
“Every time I get something interesting, people reject me a lot and even talk behind my back…”
He Fang wondered. Could that be because of jealousy?
“And also, because I sometimes grab orders, maybe it’s because of that that I’ve offended people.”
He Fang felt that this was indeed a reason to be disliked. But didn’t he remember that deliverymen could grab orders?
“Everyone… doesn’t want to be friends with me…” The deliveryman said this with a tone of grievance, but his expression didn’t match the grievance he was describing. “But I don’t care whether other people want to be my friends or not. As long as I have the customer, that’s enough.”
He Fang: “…” Could it be that it was exactly because of this attitude that other people didn’t want to be friends with him?
The deliveryman was undoubtedly beautiful, so beautiful that seeing him for the first time would take one’s breath away. He Fang vaguely knew that people who were too beautiful might easily stir up jealousy and resentment in those around them, which could lead to being isolated. The deliveryman was probably alone because of this.
Besides, after spending some time together, He Fang also felt that the deliveryman was very warm and enthusiastic, but also a bit self-centered when talking. Judging by his attitude just now, he probably had a bit of arrogance he wasn’t even aware of. And the deliveryman’s social media circle was full of all kinds of very energetic posts. Sure enough, a lot of people might not like seeing that kind of thing either.
It was probably a combination of reasons.
But…
He Fang curled up on the sofa, unwilling to look at the deliveryman who was acting like he was right at home, completely at ease. Even so… maybe it was because of playing games that he had ended up becoming this person’s friend. No matter what kind of personality this friend had, whether he was likable or not, to He Fang, the fact that he was the “only one” was enough to make him feel happy.
He couldn’t suppress it. He felt a bit happy.
“Your party…” He Fang suddenly asked. Was the other party planning to have a one-person party?
“If the customer is willing to come to my party, I can prepare it at home. I have lots of games, and both of us like playing games. There are so many two-player games we can play together!” The deliveryman seemed to smile out loud just imagining that scene. Then his expression reined in a bit, showing a trace of disappointment, but his smile didn’t fade. “If the customer doesn’t come, then I plan to go eat at an all-you-can-eat buffet. I run around delivering food every day, so I know all the lively places. It’s my birthday, so of course I have to celebrate it well. I even took the day off.”
He Fang also noticed that the deliveryman was wearing his own clothes today, not the deliveryman uniform He Fang was so familiar with.
Two-player games…
He Fang had two-player games, too, but he had always played them alone—one person, two controllers. He could handle it himself. As someone with social anxiety, even online, he would never invite anyone to play together with him.
But now, He Fang felt a bit tempted.
He Fang unconsciously scratched his hair. His house was very small. Just heating one bun was enough to make the whole place smell like buns. Besides the games, there wasn’t much furniture or decoration. Right now, the deliveryman was still sitting on his little stool.
He Fang would never step out of here, let alone go out into the crowds on the busy streets to celebrate a birthday with the deliveryman outside.
But…
But if he could let the deliveryman have a birthday that wasn’t lonely, He Fang was still tempted.
On one’s birthday, no matter who the birthday wishes came from, one should feel very happy, right? At the very least, they would know that someone remembered them.
He Fang’s eyes turned to the gift placed on the dining table to the side. From the corner of his eye, he noticed the deliveryman. The deliveryman was still looking at him at this moment. Those eyes that hadn’t yet lost their redness and swelling still shone with that ever-present bright, cheerful light. It was as if even if he were alone, he still knew how to make himself happy.
He was the deliveryman’s only friend.
He wanted to do something for his friend.
He Fang felt that the hard, frozen shell he’d always had cracked just slightly for a moment, with a tiny, subtle sound that made him feel a little flustered. For the first time, he felt what it was like to be so deeply valued by another person. The deliveryman’s cautious crying, the breakfast the deliveryman had carefully prepared for him, the deliveryman’s expectations of him, the fact that the deliveryman had only him as a friend… All of it felt like something that could only happen in a game, yet here it was, happening right in front of his eyes.
He Fang was just someone with social anxiety.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to communicate with people.
At the very least, in front of the deliveryman, he had always been able to speak properly.
Even if he stammered, even if his voice was small, it didn’t matter because the deliveryman always heard him.
This person could always hear what he was saying.
“Happy birthday.” He Fang kept his head lowered the whole time. These three years of silence had made him forget how to interact with normal people, but he wanted to communicate with the deliveryman. He Fang shifted his gaze away, not daring to look at the deliveryman at all. Even his voice trembled because he was the one taking the initiative. He was afraid, yet for the first time, he forced himself to muster up such strong courage. “I prepared… a gift for you.”
He Fang spoke very slowly, pausing for a long time between each sentence. He anxiously grabbed at his own hair. When he didn’t hear any response from the deliveryman, he felt so nervous he was about to throw up. He Fang felt like he was about to break out in an allergic reaction.
“Really? A gift for me? Customer, you prepared a gift for me? You must be the kindest customer in the whole world. How lucky I am to know you!” Suddenly, amid He Fang’s fear, he heard the other’s voice break out in overwhelming delight, shattering layers of his fear in an instant.
He Fang was a little dazed. The hand that had been covering his eyes loosened slightly. He lifted his gaze, and what he saw was an incredibly clear and beautiful face filled with surprise, golden hair shimmering brilliantly under the sunlight, dazzling and radiant. The deliveryman’s skin was very fair, almost translucent. Because of that, his smile seemed somewhat unreal, but the joy on his face was fully conveyed to He Fang.
Unconsciously, He Fang’s tense body relaxed because of the deliveryman’s smile. For a moment, He Fang even felt that what he was facing was not a real person, but a masterpiece painted by a renowned artist, a canvas filled with the artist’s beautiful blessings for the world.
He Fang stared blankly.
“Then, where’s the gift? Can I have it now? Can I open it now?” The deliveryman looked very excited, glancing around eagerly, looking like he couldn’t wait at all. When he saw the beautifully wrapped paper bag on the dining table, it was as if stars sparkled in his eyes. The deliveryman turned back to look at He Fang, his eyes full of questions and anticipation.
He Fang couldn’t help but bury his face back into his arms and nodded.
He Fang heard the deliveryman let out a joyful laugh and then immediately went to pick up the gift bag he had prepared.
He Fang secretly peeked at the deliveryman through the gap between his arms. The deliveryman brought the gift over to the coffee table. Those slender, fair, beautiful fingers lingered on the wrapping as if reluctant to part from it, gently tracing the texture on the bag. Even the way he lifted the clear tape on the wrapping was extremely gentle. The tape, which was usually stubborn, behaved obediently under the deliveryman’s hands. He Fang knew it was because the other was being genuinely careful.
The entire wrapping paper only had a tiny crease made by He Fang when he was wrapping it. The deliveryman’s nimble hands didn’t add any extra folds to the packaging at all. Then he saw the box.
On the box, there was a logo. The logo of the deliveryman’s favorite game. He Fang secretly glanced at the deliveryman’s expression; the corners of the other’s mouth were lifted high the whole time, his eyes full of excitement and anticipation. Then he slowly opened the box.
He Fang saw a very obvious light flash in the other’s eyes, and the deliveryman even drew in a sharp breath of surprise.
The gift He Fang had prepared wasn’t very expensive. It was just an inconspicuous little item from the game.
The game the deliveryman liked was also an open-world game, with quite a lot of hidden Easter eggs. But some things in the game required buying certain real-world items, and by using the real item, a special in-game quest could be unlocked. What He Fang bought was one of the underground missions: the Origin Stone of the Land that Bears Life.
This was a hidden Easter egg inside the game. Players could use the purchased item to open the quest in-game, unlocking the starting and ending gates that led to the underground world. On this path, there were incredibly beautiful sights, and at the final Land that Bears Life, players could touch the Origin Stone. This stone carried the beautiful wishes for the entire constructed world. It was also the blessing He Fang wished to give the deliveryman.
Even though in the game it was nothing more than a beautiful dungeon, and players didn’t get anything especially useful out of it, the game’s developers designed it as a wearable pendant in real life. Its design was very unique. Inside a small, delicately crafted frame sat a finely polished fluorite. The price wasn’t high, but it was very special.
The deliveryman’s earrings weren’t too suitable for everyday wear, but this pendant, though its value was much lower, could still be worn as an accessory to match clothes.
At this moment, that beautifully designed necklace lay quietly in the deliveryman’s hands. Since the deliveryman’s hands themselves were already so beautiful, holding it only made the scene look even more lovely.
The deliveryman knew exactly what it was. His surprise was even greater than before. He Fang saw the delight plain on the other’s face, saw that the other liked the gift he had carefully chosen. He Fang couldn’t help but blush, too, burying his head. Yet, he couldn’t hide the flushed red of his neck and the tips of his ears.
“Customer!” While He Fang’s face was still red, the deliveryman suddenly said loudly, “Because I’ve received the best gift I’ve ever gotten in my entire life, this time, no matter what, I’ll make sure the birthday party makes you satisfied!”
The best gift he’d ever gotten? He Fang blinked, feeling a bit amused by the deliveryman’s overly exaggerated words.
“I… It’s just a pity I don’t know how to cook. Please wait a moment. I’ll go out right now. I’ll buy lots of snacks and a big meal, and bring them back. I know you don’t like going out, so please wait for me to come back. I can hold the party here at your place!”
He Fang froze.
The deliveryman then realized that the way he said it might not be quite right, so he hurriedly asked He Fang’s permission again: “Customer, would you mind if I hold the party here? I’ll pay for all the food and drinks, and before I leave, I’ll clean everything up for you. It’s just that no matter what, I want to spend this birthday together with you, is that alright?”
At this moment, the deliveryman wasn’t sitting on He Fang’s small stool anymore. He was bending down on the sofa right next to He Fang, looking at him with those unbelievably beautiful eyes, eyes fixed tightly on He Fang, full of pleading and expectation. He Fang’s brain wasn’t just frozen at this point; it was about to burn out.
For He Fang, he’d never done anything as outrageous as holding a party at home before. Rationally, he could not allow a real person to invade his socially anxious space, but emotionally, he couldn’t help but lean toward the other. Seeing those still slightly red eyes, He Fang couldn’t help but nod.
However, he didn’t let the other go out to buy things. Instead, in a muffled, soft voice, he said, “Or… order delivery… specially buying… is… quite… troublesome…”
“Okay!” The deliveryman’s eyes sparkled, “That’s great. Then I can stay with you a bit longer!”
He really did look so happy. But why was he so happy?
He Fang couldn’t figure it out no matter how he thought. He didn’t think he was an interesting person at all; he didn’t have anything that could attract others. At most, he’d only shown the deliveryman a bit of ordinary care, yet the other’s warmth seemed like it was going to set him on fire.
Was it because he didn’t have many friends?
He Fang looked at the deliveryman’s side profile as he operated his phone to order food. That face… It looked like the face of someone who was winning at life, yet even he had hidden troubles no one knew about.
But seeing the deliveryman so happy at this moment, He Fang felt happy because the other was happy, but his own mood just wouldn’t lift. Although he could be happy for the deliveryman’s joy, he couldn’t forget his social anxiety just because he was happy. He could already imagine that what he was about to face next would be a very long, lively “dorm life” that he hadn’t experienced in ages.
Fortunately, this deliveryman…
Seemed like he was very good at talking, even when he was the only one talking.
“All done! I ordered a lot of things. We can eat very happily!” The deliveryman narrowed his eyes and smiled. Only heaven knew how lethal that smile was to He Fang. “I even bought a cake, and I ordered all the food you like, plus some things I think are pretty good and worth you trying. Today we’ll definitely have a lot of fun.”
He Fang watched the deliveryman switch from deep sadness to bright joy without missing a beat. He Fang realized he’d been staring at the deliveryman’s face the whole time.
This situation was a bit strange. He Fang figured it was probably because he’d gotten used to secretly watching the deliveryman through the peephole. Now, unexpectedly, even without the peephole, he could look at him straight on just fine.
The deliveryman’s beauty might be very aggressive, but his personality was simply too approachable. Even He Fang, somehow, found himself forgetting his fear again and again.
Even though the deliveryman could keep talking, in this situation, it still felt a bit awkward. He Fang thought for a bit, then said, “Let’s… play a game… I have a two-player…”
The easiest topic for him and the deliveryman to talk about was probably games.
And only when gaming was He Fang at his most relaxed.
In the past, he hadn’t liked having uncontrollable pressure near him while he was gaming, but if that person was the deliveryman, He Fang felt like he could accept it.
The deliveryman said that he was his first friend. On the other hand, the deliveryman was the first unexpected thing in his life.
And at this moment, outside this quiet yet noisy, inexplicably harmonious yet full-of-vitality space—
Countless residents were gnashing their teeth, wishing they could storm in there and tear the “Divine Lord” apart with their bare hands.
The cake shop owner: “Poison him. No, no, that won’t do. If the Creator eats the poison by accident, it’s over. Damn it, I really want to get rid of him. Or maybe I could draw something to embarrass the Divine Lord? No, no, that won’t do either. I run a very famous cake shop. If the cake I make doesn’t suit the Creator’s taste, what if he never orders from my shop again? Help, I’m so mad, I’m so mad. Aaaahhhh!”
The cake shop owner’s hand whipping the cream was practically flying!
Meanwhile, the restaurant chef: “It’s all the Creator’s favorite food. This guy spends all day here secretly snooping to figure out what the Creator likes. He’s figured it all out already. How can we let him be so smug? How can this be allowed! How do I mess with him, how do I mess with him! I’m so pissed off. Aaahhhh!”
Curses and complaints echoed all through the restaurant. And the target of every curse, without exception, was that shameless Divine Lord who’d snuck into the Creator’s house and was now truly sharing a room with the Creator, even sharing delicious food and celebrating a birthday together! While cursing wildly, their hands were still carefully adjusting the flavors with the Creator’s favorite seasonings.
The snack shop owner: “This one will make the Creator happy and delighted, this one will make the Divine Lord foam at the mouth and faint. This one will make the Creator healthy and strong, this one will make the Divine Lord suffer from bad luck…”
The snack shop owner was carefully putting the Creator’s favorite snacks into the bag while muttering blessings and curses under his breath. His face looked half-kind and half-ferocious, as if his facial muscles were twitching.
When a few other deliverymen gathered downstairs and exchanged glances, they all saw murder in each other’s eyes.
At the same time, they went upstairs together, and trailing behind them was a beast whose face was twisted with jealousy.
A deliveryman knocked on the door, and from inside came the Divine Lord’s hearty voice: “Coming!”
The deliverymen crowded at the door all instantly had even darker expressions on their faces.
The Divine Lord opened the door, smiling so brightly it was like sunlight, smiling so beautifully it could topple a nation, smiling so brazenly, smiling like a madman. Every bit of that twisted smile was blatantly flaunting itself at those few deliverymen outside who were scowling so darkly they wished they could drag him out and tear him apart on the spot!
The Divine Lord was absolutely showing off to the extreme!
He was so smug that even the tips of his hair were trembling!
One deliveryman opened his mouth but only silently mouthed: ‘Get out!’
The Divine Lord raised an eyebrow, obviously completely unfazed by the provocation. With an expression that made people want to punch him, he turned back inside and said, “Everything I ordered has been delivered. I’ll bring it all in later. You don’t need to come out, okay? Okay!”
The deliverymen at the door nearly spat blood.
The Divine Lord very arrogantly mouthed words back at them, even showing off his sharp canine teeth on purpose: ‘I won’t!’
The deliveryman’s forehead veins popped out instantly, his eyes almost splitting open with rage, looking like he wanted to swallow the Divine Lord whole and alive.
This guy!
So shameless!
The Divine Lord simply grabbed the cake from the deliveryman’s hands. He was like a diligent little worker bee carrying an extremely important piece of food, and even deliberately didn’t close the door, happily bouncing around to make sure the people outside could see him moving freely and unimpeded inside the Creator’s room!
The deliverymen nearly ground their teeth to pieces.
What could be worse than everyone agreeing they would all protect the Creator together, only for this Divine Lord to sneak around all day, using his ability to manipulate data to snatch every single delivery for the Creator, showing his presence in front of the Creator every single day.
And he even pretended to cry!
He even played the pitiful victim!
Obviously, this Divine Lord strutted around arrogantly all day, ignoring everyone, loving to show off, acting like he was the single most important person in the whole city to the Creator. So smug and infuriating!
Yet this Divine Lord secretly badmouthed them in front of the Creator! Making it look like they were the big villains instead!
Aaaahhh, they were about to explode from anger.
The Divine Lord basked in the furious, resentful glares of the others, his little expression growing even more pleased. The more jealous and angry the others were, the happier he became. Didn’t this just prove that in the eyes of outsiders, he and the Creator were so close? Right, right? That’s what it meant, right!
Suddenly, the Divine Lord felt something bite hard into his leg. Looking down, he saw it was his other half. The other half was furious because he had gone and attached himself to the Creator but hadn’t brought it along, so it had come up now to cause trouble.
It wanted to stay!
It was his other half!
Why should the Divine Lord get to stay but not it?
So unfair!
However, the Divine Lord lowered his head, stared at the beast clamped tightly onto his thigh, and showed an utterly wicked smile.
He grabbed the scruff of his other half’s neck, forcefully tore it off his leg, and without a shred of mercy, flung it out the door.
Before closing the door, he even made a shooing gesture with his hand, waving it out twice, his disdain written all over his face.
The other half was already stunned the moment it got thrown out.
It had never imagined that it would be thrown out like that.
Without a moment’s hesitation?!
Aaaahhhh you damn selfish bastard!
